Event Guidelines
Across the many nations of the shinobi world, there are many unique developments which take place therein. In the tumult and peace, there are instances of personal growth and strife as well as triumph and disaster most of which take place within individual threads. However, some of these instances have significantly raised stakes and/or affect several people at large within this ninja-oriented world. On NFB these moments may be turned into a constructed activity where characters take part in a unique and rare occurrence called an Event. They will depict some of the few and far between major incidents in the shinobi world and serve the purpose of generating greater interest in our role-play. It acts as a change of pace to the everyday interaction, and for the duration of the event provides the opportunity for new and exciting plots to unfold.

Events can come in many forms such as building off previous narratives and elaborating how they are affecting the shinobi world today, depicting how shinobi are dealing with entirely new challenges or disasters, and portraying international or internal conflicts. Events represent some of the most pressing issues on NFB. Because they are few and far between, it should be noted that a decent amount of planning goes into Event creation. Event ideas will need to go through the scrutiny of the respective Kages involved as well as go through admin approval. The number of individuals necessary to moderate an Event and the individuals who will be given the task is dependent upon Event complexity and the number of staff members who are willing and available. If there are many events underway, one might be told to hold off on its start until some have reached completion. The logistics for carrying out events should be thoroughly considered so that it can be carried out in a relatively smooth and efficient manner and staff might request necessary changes. This does not only mean considering any sequence of events for an Event's narrative, but also recognizing a feasible number of participants who can enter the Event, or any other aspect regarding it.

Now that you know what Events are. Why should they be done?

Just like regular missions, Events will be given ranks according to their difficulty, ranging from D to S. However, unlike missions, events are not barred by their rank. A Genin can be granted access to participate in an A-ranked event should the circumstances allow it. The participant must keep in mind that the task or opposition which they come across may be beyond the capabilities of the character which can profoundly increase the chances of failure, or death. It provides an opportunity for those who might want to take part in the site's grander schemes to carry an increased risk for an even greater reward. It should go without saying that a simple village gettogether does not equate to taking down the 'Akatsuki.' In addition to an EXP reward, with Staff's permission, those who successfully participate in an Event may be rewarded with unique statuses, weapons, or abilities fitting with the theme or objective. Regardless of an Event's outcome, they have the possibility of being more weighted in Special Ability Appeals, as well as count for two missions for Rank-Up Appeals. One will find EXP rewards outlined below.

Benefits of an Event have been mentioned. How do I go about making one?

The most crucial part of making an event is deciding what you want the event to be; what is its premise? Some events may have a degree of spontaneity while others would be weaved from already existing situations. Developing an exciting and likely background which others can follow will be vital to moving events further. A short story providing the situation at hand and how it came to be will help to immerse those who will be participating. In instances where there might be multiple sides, one should try to mention what is at stake for parties involved or explain how they generally perceive their position and what they aim to do about it. Consider writing if there has there been a long history of conflict, or if the phenomenon is only recent. Also, describe the setting and location of the event and perhaps the expectation of its IC length.

Once these have been discussed at length as the background of the event, one next needs to consider how the event will be administered. This will mean deciding if you or staff will be running it as an NPC, or if an NPC is needed at all and explaining how the sequence of events might play out to staff. NPC'd characters, potential allies and opponents alike, should continuously be in mind along the way as well as their level of involvement, strength, and abilities. One should consider the nature of the event, and whether it is best to set up the event in a single thread, have separate running threads, or any other alternative which might be necessary. In planning, one should think about their activity level especially if they will oversee the event as well as those of who express interest in participating. Questions, concerns, and required edits will be brought up by staff during its review. Rules which event participants must abide by can also be made. These can help guide the kind of activities you want participants to be involved in or to convey the sort of conduct you expect from your members both in-character of out-of-character.

Here lies a template people will submit which can help in the creation of an Event.  Please PM information to all current Staff Members in order for it to be discussed.

Name: All events will be given a name, preferably one which is catchy and foreshadows its theme. Don’t be lame. Give it something neat. Staff can also help with something fitting.

Estimated Time Range: How long do you expect this event to be in session? Ideally, an event might take two-three months or less, but in practice, they go much longer.

Posting Time: This mentions how long each participant has until they are skipped by the next player. 48 hours is standard, but feel free to make it a bit longer.

Villages Participating: Is this internal or international? What villages are involved?

Background: This will be the main chunk which provides the backstory to the event and what will likely garner the most substantial portion of scrutiny.

Rank: This will decide the event’s difficulty and how much EXP is earned by its participants.

Rules: Are there any rules you want its participants to abide by?

Sign-Up Slots: How many people will you be allowing to participate. Keep in mind, that smaller events are typically the ones that run more successfully.

NPC Duty: Who will be the one running the narrative if there’s one needed? If you aren’t how, many staff members do you think will be required?
