Appearance Height: 6'0" 182cm Weight: 165lbs 75kg Minakata's build is very slender with little muscle. His skin is quite pale, and despite having lived through many battles and wars there doesn't seem to be any scars on his body. Perhaps his most notable feature is his long silver hair that hangs down to his waist. His eyes and eyebrows are also silver in color, and if caught in the right light his hair and eyes have been known to shimmer like actual silver. His hair tends to fall over his face and cover his right eye. This causes Minakata to constantly fuss with it try to keep it out of his face. His regular attire consists of a short dark gray trench coat that goes down past his waist but not quite to his knees. This coat fits him quite snugly and sometimes gets in the way of his movements so it is used only for casual attire. On the front of this coat are six silver buttons in rows of two adorned with a single rose on each that are used to keep it closed. The hood of the coat is lined with white fur. The belt of the coat is also a dark gray, but his headband is used as the belt buckle. In addition to this he can also be seen wearing dark gray earmuffs adorned with white fur. He also is usually seen wearing white gloves. The pants and boots that go with this outfit are also dark gray. The pants are made of the same material as the coat. The boots have a rim of white fur at the top like the coat. During missions his attire is remarkably similar to his regular clothing. The only clear differences are the length of the coat and his headband. The trench coat is shortened to a regular jacket. The headband that was used as a belt buckle before is now attached to the upper sleeve of his jacket instead. He also tends to tie his hair back or do something else with it to keep it out of the way. He has a tattoo over his heart of the Yugao Clan crest. It has a large scar running diagonally through it. On special occasions he ties his hair back into a ponytail with a knot. He then places a pin inside of the knot that has the Yugao Clan crest on the end of it. Personality Nindo: "Save only those who deserve to be saved." Minakata has two very distinct sides to his personality. One that he shows while in Yukigakure, and one that he shows while with the Shakar. Yukigakure: The creed of the Nue that dictates they should do anything to preserve themselves is the farthest thing from his mind. Instead he would do just about anything to preserve Yukigakure. While in Yukigakure Minakata is perhaps the most friendly person that you would ever meet. He is older than the village itself and has been there since the very beginning to help it grow. He sees the village itself as his child and would do anything to protect it and it's inhabitants. Minakata is a very kind man. The type of person that would actually throw a couple yen to a beggar on the street instead of just walking by. He would go out of his way if he saw an old woman struggling with bags or someone lifting heavy boxes. This very often causes him to be late for various things. He takes a fatherly figure to just about anyone and gives advice fairly often, even if the person doesn't want it. This can annoy a few people because he butts into business that isn't his in an honest attempt to help, but, much to his dismay, Shakar: While with the Shakar Minakata is perhaps the complete opposite from how he is in Yukigakure. Here he is allowed to experiment and further his goals of revenge in ways that he wouldn't be able to anywhere else. After the Third Shinobi World War Minakata was obsessed with revenge and destroying the religion of Jashinism entirely. Vengeance clouded his thoughts for a time and that same mindset follows him to the Shakar. While he has loyalty to the Shakar and is their medic he doesn't have the same protective instincts like he does with Yukigakure. Instead the Shakar for him is a place to let loose and drop the charade of being the person that he once was that he has to put up while in Yukigakure. He is usually cooped up in his lab and avoids most contact with the other members unless necessary. The only regular contact he has is with his patients, his experiments, and the reports he gives to the Shakage. History A Toxic Birth ~ -105 SD to -90 SD Minakata was born during the time that the people of the Nue clan were still living on the poisonous chasms of Kuma no Kuni. Like all of the others he was constantly breathing in the gases produced by the land and surviving simply because of his clan's knowledge of medical techniques. Despite this he had a relatively uneventful early childhood. He skinned his knees when he was out playing with the other kids and was patched up by his mother when he came crying home. He was taught academics, biology, and herpetology by his parents when he came of age. At one point he even had a pet rock that he played with. However, his time in this place would not last forever. While the Daimyos fought among themselves the Nue were forced to move. They were transplanted from their toxic home to a port city where they prospered. Instead of the poison they were used to they now were breathing in the ocean air. While there his parents began to teach him the medical techniques they learned throughout their lives. He was their nurse that helped bandage up the fishermen and traders they treated. Over time he'd begin learning medical ninjutsu as well as he got older. He even began to learn of the special abilities of his clan as they were developing. While it was a great time of learning for him it was also a time to be carefree as well. He didn't have to worry about the toxins in the air anymore and so he played outside much more often. He swam in the ocean with the other kids. He made friends easily due to his helpful and kind nature, but again this wouldn't last. A Nue World ~ -90 SD to -75 SD One day a sailor had become crushed under crates of cargo from the ships he worked on. One of the Nue had used their special techniques to heal him, but instead of the people being grateful they instead began to fear them. The people of the port city had driven them out and the were forced to move once again. His family grabbed whatever they could and boarded a trading vessel with the rest of the clan. He doesn't know exactly how long he was on those boats, but there was one thing he was certain of: the ideology the clan tried to drill into him on those boats was wrong. Helping others was not inherently a bad idea. Eventually they landed on a new world. Who knows how long the clan spent wandering around the barren, snow covered lands of Yuki no Kuni. They were turned away from village after village. Each time they were rejected the now teenage Minakata had lost more hope that they'd find a new place to call home. He was right. His family would continue to wander the wilderness of Yuki no Kuni. They survived by merging with the native animals of the land. This gave Minakata the time to develop the abilities of his clan and gain mastery of his Kekkei Genkai. During this time he continued to develop his knowledge of biology and herpetology as well. It was also about the time that Minakata stopped aging. The Start of Something New ~ -75 SD to -72 SD Eventually this vast knowledge that the Nue clan gathered lead the Daimyo to contact them with help for a project. In return he would give them supplies and land. Minakata almost literally jumped at the chance for a real home again. While Minakata shared his clan's view that the experiments were mostly a waste of time he shut up and did his job for the sake of his family. He gave his expert advice and healed the subjects of the experiments so that they wouldn't die, just like all of the other Nue. It was a fairly boring time, but Minakata made sure to collect and save all the information he could from the experiments. The clan was given what they were owed. It wasn't much better than what they had before. It was a barren land on the coast, but it was a place to call home. They had supplies given to them by the Daimyo and they were able to live in peace for a time. It was only a few years before more people traveled to their land. The people of Kuma no Kuni came by boat and subjugated the clan. They were forced to give aid to their people, and eventually there came a proposition. In return for their support they would give them the chance to destroy the city that forced them to flee. They accepted. In return they gave them supplies and helped them adapt to the cold climate. This was the start of Yukigakure. While others suffered their fate and quietly resented the people Minakata truly didn't mind helping the strangers. They had the same fate that the Nue did in that they were forced from their home and sent to this barren land. He didn't want to see them suffer any more than they had to when not so long ago he himself had been in a similar position. Not many others shared this view so he quickly learned to keep his feelings to himself. The First War ~ -72 SD to -68 SD The day had finally come when the First Shinobi War commenced. The Nue clan went with the army from Yukigakure to attack the land of Kuma no Kuni. Like the others from his clan he served as a combat medic during the war. At first it seemed the attacks on Kuma no Kuni were successful. The Nue were able to take the city that once scorned them and raze it to the ground. They had prepared a special mixture before hand and treated the earth with it so that it wouldn't be able to hold any life for centuries to come. It seemed all was going well, but even with the significant strength of the army that was put together for the assault they were driven back. Even with the medical prowess of the Nue the superior numbers of the people of Kuma no Kuni overwhelmed the better trained force from Yukigakure. They retreated back to their ships and fled back to their homes. While on the ship back home there was discontent in the ranks. The defeat plus the fact that their leader Odo was injured in battle had dealt a blow to his reputation. The people began to believe that he was no longer fit to rule them, and they weren't shy about voicing these views. While he listened to the demoralized troops Minakata began to become torn. On one hand Odo had kept his promise to the Nue and so he was content with what had happened. On the other hand they were forced back after so soon after that it seemed like a hollow victory. In the end what they had done meant nothing. The Aftermath ~ -68 SD to -45 SD After they got home Minakata was awarded the rank of Chuunin for his participation in the war. Most of the other Nue that had participated got a similar reward for their service to the village. It made him happy in a way. It gave him a purpose to serve as he was assigned to work in the hospital and be a Medical Ninja. While Minakata was happy with the outcome of the war after attaining a position in the village not many others were. The opposition of Odo was in full swing. It got so bad at times that he had feared that riots would begin breaking out in the streets. It was only two years after the war ended that Odo died suddenly of heart failure. The rumor spread that someone had poisoned him. He knew that people hated Odo after the defeat during the war, but would someone really go so far as to kill him? It seemed almost impossible to believe for him. Whether it was Odo that ruled, the council, or someone else it really meant nothing to him. His life would go on no matter who was pulling the strings for the village, and so he continued with his work at the hospital. What happened next was no real surprise. The leader of Odo's opposition was named the next leader of Yukigakure. She had said that the village would no longer use it's forced to fight useless wars, and so he was content with the new leadership. After the deaths of the previous war it was an ideal that he shared. The losses that they suffered could have been avoided if not for Odo's pride. To say that he regretted going along with Odo's plans would be an understatement. The Dreamer Prince ~ -45 SD to -43 SD However, the new leader's repurposing of the military force had changed his job somewhat. His work at the hospital had become fairly boring so Minakata had volunteered to be one of the mercenaries. He was put on a squad with other Chuunin and sent out on missions like other ninja. The team that he was assigned to was comprised of himself as the Medical Ninja, Fuzai Yugao that specialized in Genjutsu, and Tanjun Yuki who used Ninjustu. It was an odd mix of specialties to be sure, but it gave him the opportunity to enhance his combat abilities. He began to train to use the Chakra Scalpel Jutsu in close combat since the team didn't have a dedicated front liner. After some time he began to know his squad better. Both of the other two seemed to be about in their twenties when they got paired up. Tanjun proved to be relatively uninteresting, but that didn't mean he didn't like her. She was a simple girl that enjoyed the little things like going out shopping or training with her squad. While Minakata didn't enjoy the shopping very much he would still be dragged out by her and, despite his lack of enthusiasm, he would still have fun. She was the type of person where you wouldn't be able to have a bad time with her there. Simply being around her was uplifting. Fuzai however frustrated him to no end. He would constantly go off by himself or stand around in a daze during their training. Even outside of training he would barely interact with the other two. Instead he would stand around in a trance talking to himself. At least that's how it seemed for a while. It took quite some time before he realized that the Yugao was speaking to butterflies. When he noticed this Minakata berated himself for not realizing it sooner. After this he decided he would make more of an effort to interact with him. It was surprisingly easy. He said he was simply waiting for them to come join him in his world. Minakata was taken aback by this explanation, but accepted it. It seemed that this was just how he was. An absentminded man who preferred the world of butterflies to the world of humans. After the initial interaction between the two it was quite easy for Minakata to convince him to go out with him and Tanjun. He would still be off in a daze speaking to his butterflies, but when prompted he would try to join in conversation between the two. Minakata could tell he was trying, but he wasn't sure why. After all this time in his own world he was attempting to join theirs with no apparent reason. Perhaps just the feeling of being included was reason enough. The missions that the three were sent on were not particularly dangerous. They were still just Chuunin after all. They weren't running around the village chasing the pets anymore, but there was still nothing they came in contact with that had any real chance of harming them. Perhaps the peace from the first war was holding up strong. Some time had passed before the three had begun to delve into each other's pasts. After one of their missions they huddled around a campfire they had created and shared stories. Minakata revealed his role in helping start the village during the First World War. Tanjun spoke proudly of how her parents were ninja and how she joined the academy to follow in their footsteps. In stark contrast to the previous story Fuzai spoke solemnly about how his father was the head of the Yugao clan and how he pushed him greatly. His family saw him as merely a vessel to hold their ideals and not as a person. He was trained endlessly and brutally by his father to replace him despite him not wanting to. Minakata and Tanjun listened to the story intently. They knew there was almost nothing they could do about the situation. At least they could assure him that he wouldn't be alone anymore. They just hoped it would be enough for him to know they would be there. The Everlasting ~ -43 SD to -38 SD When the Second World War came most of the mercenary squads were drafted to be part of the military force that would assault Shimogakure, and Minakata's squad was no different. They were shipped off with the orders to destroy the village. On the way there the other two of the squad were asking him questions about what war was like. At first he didn't want to tell them what he knew, but eventually they wore him down. He told them the tales of death and destruction he witnessed during the First World War. What they heard shocked them. They began to wonder if they were capable of something like destroying an entire village. It took him quite some time before he was able to calm them. Like he had done before he assured them that if they were together they would be fine. He survived through one war already and he wasn't planning on dying in this one. Eventually they made it to the village of Shimogakure. They went through the combat just like they had so many times before during their mercenary missions. This time however things were different. They weren't just fighting against some bandits stealing from a storehouse. They were going up against a trained military force. They weren't fighting to incapacitate the opponent either. They were fighting to kill. The concept of killing was foreign to Tanjun. Minakata had been through war before, and Fuzai had been trained to be ruthless since he was a child. Still that doesn't mean he had killed before. Nothing can prepare you for your first time killing another living being. This became very apparent during their first battle. They encountered another team of three when they first attempted to take out one of the outposts in the mountains. Minakata's team set up an ambush that used the familiar terrain and weather to launch a surprise attack on whoever was unlucky enough to show themselves to them. With the sneak attack they were able to take out the enemy quite easily, but Fuzai and Tanjun hesitated. They didn't yet have the strength to kill another person. It was because of this that one of the enemies had time to wake up and send a jutsu flying at Fuzai. Tanjun was able to use one of her jutsu to block some of the attack, but he still got injured. Tanjun then found the strength inside of her to end another being's life. While she was finishing off the enemy Minakata took the time to heal Fuzai. Thankfully it wasn't a deep wound so it didn't take long for him to close. This would be a moment that stayed with them for years to come. After Fuzai was done being healed they continued on searching through the mountains for the hidden outposts. They left the stronger opponents to the more experienced shinobi while they picked off the weaker units. They usually did this through sneak attacks or by using the stronger allies as a distraction. Eventually Shimogakure fell to the might of the Yukigakure shinobi. After the numerous outposts and hideouts were captured and laid to waste. Most of the force, with Minakata's squad included, was sent back home since the army of Shimogakure was crushed. It was after this battle that Minakata got the name of The Everlasting. He got this name partially because of his advanced age, but also because of him having lived through the two Shinobi World Wars. He didn't particularly mind the name, but having his age put out there for anyone to know was somewhat embarrassing. The Way Home ~ -38 SD to -38 SD The way home was a mix of celebration and silence. Those that had their first taste of real battle, such as Fuzai and Tanjun, used the time to reflect on their actions. Had they been right in wiping out an entire village? While they were reflecting Minakata was celebrating. He had been through this before and the whole experience didn't bother him as much as it did the others. He knew the other two needed their time to think and so he left them in peace. He decided that once they got back to the village, or when they came to him, he'd help them through their troubles. Much to his surprise they came to him together on the way home. He expected them to wait until they got back to the village, and to come separately. He thought that this turn of events would save some time at least since he didn't have to go through this twice. Minakata spent hours with the two listening to their concerns and trying to help them through it. They found their actions hard to accept, but in the end they realized they couldn't change the past. They did what they thought was right in the moment, and Minakata guided them the best he could to accept what they had done. It was a long and draining process for all of them. In the end his teammates had learned to forgive themselves for their actions and understood that things like what had happened were necessary in the life of a ninja. During the downtime on the way back Minakata had taken to practicing the art of origami. There had been many times before that Tanjun had tried to get him to learn, but it seemed he finally had the time now. It was during one of these practice sessions of his that Fuzai came to him once more. He asked Minakata how he could be so calm about all of this and his answer was simple. "A life full of regrets isn't a life worth living.” Fuzai seemed taken aback by this answer, and so he explained more. "With the long lifespans of the Nue you can't regret everything you've done. If you do then you will live a tortured existence in which you punish yourself for eternity.” It was an extremely bleak view, but also an upbeat one as well. He chose to live in the present instead of looking towards the past. While they talked Minakata had continued working on his origami. By the time they were done he had finished making a butterfly out of a bright blue paper. At the end of the conversation he gave Fuzai the butterfly as a gift, and in return Fuzai gave him a kiss. It was an overwhelming experience for Minakata. At this point he was over 60 years old, despite still looking like he was only in his 20s, but he had not yet been kissed. He was stunned. While Fuzai left all he could do is watch and try to process what had happened. It was now Minakata's turn to pay Tanjun a visit. Even with his long life he had not yet experienced something like this. He knew it was unusual and it was likely she would laugh when he brought this up to her, but the sheer force with which she laughed both frustrated and embarrassed him further. His face burned a bright red while he talked with his friend. After he calmed down and his conversation with Tanjun was done finished he went to confront Fuzai. He could fight in endless wars, but speaking to him in this moment seemed like an almost impossible task. He stuttered the entire time while talking to him and had no idea what he was doing. The fact he was even capable of speaking was a small miracle in this instance, but Fuzai was patient. It seemed Minakata got lucky. Once he was done blabbering on he was embraced by Fuzai. Who would have thought that the absentminded guy he met before would be the bold one in this situation. As unlikely as it seemed this was the beginning of Minakata's first relationship. They decided that upon returning to the village they would go out to dinner somewhere. The rest of the way home was relatively uneventful aside from Tanjun's teasing of Minakata. He endured the playful jabs sent his way because he found it quite fun to go back and forth with her. Mercenaries Once More ~ -37 SD to –32 SD Upon their return to Yukigakure the squad was promoted to the rank of Jounin for their contributions during the war. Albeit indirectly, their actions helped bring the Four-Tailed Bijuu to the village. Once the celebrations from their promotions ended Fuzai kept his promise to Minakata. They went out to dinner at a nice restaurant. It was expensive, but absolutely worth it. It was a long, peaceful night of talking between those that had now become more than just friends. They stayed there until closing time doing nothing more than drinking, eating, and talking. At one point during the night Fuzai had told him that the butterflies knew of a place where angels used brushes to paint the sky all the colors of the rainbows. Minakata was amused by this and said that maybe one day they would find this magical place. At the end of the night they took a slow walk through the streets until they got back to the Clan District of the village. Before they went their separate ways to their own compounds they shared their second kiss. To say that it was the best night of his life up to that point would be an understatement. There was a short period of time where the squad of newly appointed Jounin weren't sent on missions. Perhaps the Second Lady decided that after the war they needed a break, and they took advantage of it while they could. The three of them hung out whenever possible. Fuzai and Minakata went on a date nearly ever week and Tanjun never missed an opportunity to tease the new couple when she could. It was approximately three months before the squad was sent out on a new mercenary mission. With the war over they were sent on the same missions they were on before. After having survived through the multiple attacks on Shimogakure the missions of Yukigakure seemed like a piece of cake. However, they were happy that the war was over and things were starting to get back to normal. It seems things weren't meant to stay that way though. Eventually the Third World War started, but Minakata's squad wasn't put on the front lines like last time. In fact Yukigakure seemed to want to sit out the war. Officially at least. Other villages bought the use of the village's mercenaries for use in the war. It was no big surprise that the other villages would want the military force of Yukigakure. What was a surprise was that the village played both sides of the field. The village would make more money this way, but it could end up with family and friends fighting each other if the Lady wasn't careful with the placements. This fact angered Minakata. There was nothing he could do but wait to be deployed though. He waited for years for the orders to move out to the front lines of the war, but it didn't come. In that time Fuzai and him had become even closer. They wanted to move in together, but didn't want to choose between their two clans. The two bought a house in the Shinobi District of the village. The same day the Castle of Black Ice got completed the two got married. The Parasitic Demon ~ -31 SD to -28 SD It was only a week after the wedding that Fuzai, Minakata, and Tanjun were given the orders to ship out. The war had been waging on for six years at this point, but until that point they were just doing the mercenary missions like any other time. Now they were off to war again, which none of them particularly cared for. They weren't even fighting for their own village this time. They were going to be mercenaries for Kusagakure fighting alongside strangers instead of allies. Forced to fight a war they didn't need to participate in so that the Second Lady could make some money. But orders are orders. It was only another week before they were shipped off to another country. The boat ride there was long and boring. Tanjun wouldn't stop talking about what she thought Kusagakure was going to be like. They had been close before when they went to Shimogakure, but even though the countries bordered each other they were entirely different from one another. As soon as they got to Kusagakure it was all business. They were shown their living quarters and then were briefed on the situation along with the the others that were in the village. Along with them came another Yuki woman that looked to be around her forties. They were given a day to get themselves settled before they were shown to their posts. They were put on the front lines like they had been in the previous war. For them it was just like any other mission. They had a job to do and so they would follow orders. They followed their orders like good little soldiers while disguising themselves as Kusagakure ninja. They fought, protected, and killed in the name of a village that wasn't theirs. They succeeded in their battles, but they were meaningless victories. It wasn't until -28 SD that they finally found an enemy that was interesting to fight. Rumors of a man floating around the battlefields of the war had reached them. They got a basic description and when someone matching the appearance showed up on the outskirts of one of their battles appeared they followed. When they did he began spouting nonsense about the glory of Jashin. He introduced himself, and when they refused to join his religion he attacked. It was quick battle, and one that didn't end in their favor. Before he knew it Fuzai had been stabbed by the man. The unknown assailant's skin turned pitch black except for the markings of a skeleton on him, and he began to stab himself. The wounds he inflicted on himself reflected back on the Yugao. It was a horrendous sight to see their ally being brought down like that. In just a matter of moments Minakata's husband had been murdered, and before he could do anything Tanjun was attacked as well. What happened next is unknown to him, but he knows that somehow he and Tanjun escaped from the unknown man. He blacked out after the death of Fuzai and when he awoke there was nothing left around him but a field of malnourished corpses. It quickly began aware to him that he had done this in his stupor. He didn't know why, but he knew he had done it. It was this act that gave him the name of The Parasitic Demon. He found Tanjun nearby. She had been wounded at one point, but was healed some time between the attack and his awakening. She was stable. He carried her back to the village of Kusagakure where they spent a few weeks for her to be good enough to go back to Yukigakure. When she was capable of making the trip they left immediately. The Painted Sky ~ -28 SD to -10 SD After they returned to Yukigakure Minakata immediately put in his resignation as a mercenary, and Tanjun did the same. This wasn't the life for them anymore. Tanjun would retire to try to live a normal life. Minakata was too busy with other things to find a new path to go on. They recovered Fuzai's body and the funeral was held within the next month. Between his return and the funeral Minakata had changed. He was no longer the happy and helpful man that he was before. He was sluggish and withdrawn. To put it simply: he was severely depressed. Not even Tanjun seemed to be capable of breaking him out of this. He couldn't stand to look at his home that he once shared with his husband. Often times he could be found sleeping on a bench in the city when he couldn't find a place to sleep for the night. Tanjun was unable to watch this go on and took him in to her home. Minakata would rarely leave his new home. Sometimes he wouldn't even leave his beds for days at a time. One day when he left the house he ran into a small Yuki boy. He spent a short time talking to him and found out that his mother was the older Yuki woman that he fought with in Kusagakure. It wasn't long before Minakata left the boy, but he would see him multiple times after. These meetings went on for a few years until one day the boy's mother came back to Yukigakure. She collapsed in front of the village and died. He tried to help, but was shoved back and not allowed to get close to them. Eventually another Yuki had to tear the boy away from his mother before her body could be collected. He felt bad for the kid, but there was nothing he could do. He wouldn't see him again until his mother's funeral, but he had changed just like he did when he lost someone he loved. It was a familiar sight to him. He tried to confront the boy, but he refused any of his help and sent him away. He was beyond his reach at this time. Soon that would become more literal when he was sent off to Kirigakure to live with his father. Minakata wouldn't see him again after that. Eventually he would return to his work at the hospital. He had enough of just sitting around feeling sorry for himself. He even began to visit Tanjun again. By this time she had a child of her own, and he envied her. The Shakar ~ -10 SD to present He accepted his job of peace and stagnation for a time, but peace doesn't last for long in the village of Yukigakure. He was approached by a stranger one day that claimed to have a proposition for him. He decided that he would at least listen to what he had to say. He claimed to have vast amounts of money and resources. He said that he'd be able to help Minakata get his revenge on the Jashinist that killed his husband. It didn't take much more convincing for him to accept the proposal. Minakata took a vacation for a few days to go down to the organization's headquarters in Nohara no Kuni. It was even more than he expected. The man that he met with introduced himself as the Shakage and showed him where he'd be working. He would have his own medical wing as well as his own lab for experiments. It was a dream come true. To this day he has been working with the Shakar to heal their shinobi assets as well as develop new technology for them. He did this all in the name of vengeance. Eventually he moved back into his old home in the Shinobi District of Yukigakure. He used the money he got from the Shakar to renovate the house, as well as build his own lab in the basement. It wasn't as extravagant as the one he used at headquarters, but it was much more accessible to him. He began hatching up a plot on how he'd be able to kill an immortal. The solution that he came to was simple... He'd have to match sure there was absolutely nothing left of him when he was done.
Fighting Style Minakata's role in combat at first is battlefield analysis. At first he gives assistance and guidance to his team before eventually joining them in the thick of it. Minakata's fighting style is unusual for a medical ninja. Instead of waiting in the back line for an ally to be injured he fights on the front line with his allies. He uses the Chakra Scalpel Jutsu with brutal efficiency to make sure his opponent is unable to fight back. He knows very few Jutsu outside of Medical Ninjutsu, but is capable of using them to great efficiency when needed. "Quality over quantity," he says. When using his Jutsu in combat he will try a variety of attacks first before deciding on the most effective strategy to take down his opponent. Minakata rarely ever seeks to kill an opponent unless he deems it absolutely necessary. Instead he seeks to incapacitate the opponent either through poisons, nonlethal attacks, or draining the nutrients from the opponent just enough to make it so they can't remain conscious. Should the need arise to kill an opponent however the most common way he does this is through the Poison Fog jutsu or by absorbing their nutrients through the Nue Clan Kekkei Genkai. Special Abilities Nue Clan Kekkei Genkai: As a member of the Nue Clan, Minakata has the innate ability to control the structure of every cell in his body. This allows him three abilities unique to the Nue Clan listed below. Minakata has enough mastery over this Kekkei Genkai that he is capable of using the Nue Clan's Jutsu with extreme speed. What may take a few seconds may be almost instantaneous, what may take minutes for another may take seconds, and what may take others an entire week to create may take only a day for him. It takes only a full minute for Minakata to kill off all of the cells in a limb and up to ten minutes to fully kill off all of the cells inside of a person's body.
The unfathomable amount of medical knowledge that he has gained over the years has made him nothing short of a master in the field. The experience he has gained over the years as a doctor, as well as a combat medic, have given him an encyclopedic knowledge of medical subjects. It's to the point now where he can diagnose and treat all but the most rare of diseases and injuries even without Medical Ninjutsu. Pinnacle Chakra Control: A necessary skill for all of those seeking to be a Medical Shinobi as well as those aiming to perfect the Nue Clan Kekkei Genkai. Over the course of countless years of practice this skill has been refined beyond measure to the point that he does not waste even a fraction of Chakra while performing a technique. He is capable of using the absolute bare minimum of requirements for a Jutsu and still be able to obtain the greatest possible results. Because of this despite how little chakra Minakata expends on a Jutsu, besides those that have heavy requirements, the effects of the Jutsu are not lessened in proportion to how little Chakra is used to sustain them. Due to this and the control Minakata has obtained over his Chakra, the strain of using high level techniques is severely mitigated and allows him to perform countless techniques without much noticeable strain. Due to the focus and familiarity he has with his Jutsu he is capable of performing them without the normal requirements for hand seals. Medical Ninjutsu performed by Minakata do not require handseals. This increases the potential of saving lives through his Medical Ninjutsu. Chakra Scalpel Combatant: Minakata has specifically trained to use the Chakra Scalpel Jutsu in combat. He's capable of attacking muscles, organs, tendons, and veins with pinpoint accuracy even in the midst of combat. Enhanced Reflexes: Over time Minakata has trained his reflexes to help him protect his allies better because creating a barrier even a fraction of a second late could be a matter of life or death for an ally. Minakata is capable of following the movements of both enemies and allies better than most other Shinobi making him able to react at a moment's notice to any flicker or twitch within his range of vision. While this comes nowhere close to what can be done with a Dojutsu such as Sharingan, Minakata is almost at the peak level that a normal person could achieve. Encyclopedic Knowledge: You don't live to be the age that Minakata has without learning a thing or two. In addition to the vast knowledge of medical techniques that he possesses Minakata also has a vast knowledge of strategies gained from his time in all three Ninja World Wars, knowledge of other villages, as well as knowledge of most universal Jutsu. This allows him to outwit his opponents by being able to recognize strategies as they're being implemented. He is also capable of recognizing and countering most universal techniques. Few things are unknown to him, but those on the list are hidden clan and village techniques that he himself has not yet encountered. After fighting in all three Ninja World Wars he has seen quite a few of the basic techniques used by clans from other villages, but those of B Rank or higher still elude him. All Religious techniques, with the exception of those used by Jashinists, are unknown to him.
