prominent locations & Information

The Storm Country, like its namesake, is a water drenched country constantly buffeted by steady downpours of rain and storms. The residents of Arashi no Kuni have learned to live with the rain that lashes down and many settlements have popped up over the years that have become vital to the infrastructure of Amegakure no Sato. Closer to the heart of Amegakure lies the industrial cities, further out however houses marshlands and arable farming land that provide a great deal of trading power for the country. Over the years Arashi no Kuni has served as the battlegrounds of multiple wars and skirmishes, as a result the borders of Arashi no Kuni are heavily guarded to give its inhabitants a measure of peace. They are one of the oldest minor nations and one of the richest nations thanks to its development of technology and trade.

hidden village: AMEGAKURE NO SATO

Amegakure is the epicentre of Arashi no Kuni and the home of its military strength. Deep inside the heavy downpour that buffets the central and southern parts of Arashi no Kuni sits the highly industrialised city. To some it is an eyesore, to the residents who live there, however, it is a crowning achievement to what one can accomplish in the face of adversity. Waterways line the streets, towers are built high to compensate. Deep below Amegakure lies an extensive sewer system where many Genin are sent as part of their training. Amegakure is a huge trade port for technological goods and relies on exported produce from outlying lands for food and supplies.

The only way in and out of Amegakure no Sato is over one of three large bridges, all are heavily guarded. As Amegakure sits nestled on a great lake it is possible to water walk to the Village, however, the lake is vast and out in the open and walking across it in an attempt to get into the Village will be met with extreme hostility.

capital city: urausu

Urausu is Arashi no Kuni's capital and the residence of the Daimyo. It is the most technologically advanced city in Arashi no Kuni, second to Amegakure no Sato. The city itself sits atop the main river that connects Urausu to Amegakure. A visitor can catch a boat into Amegakure, though the restrictions involved mean only authorised individuals can travel freely.

Like Amegakure Urausu is built upon a series of waterways so many of the structures are towering high, it is not uncommon to find small plaza's hidden up high that seemingly have no way to the ground level. Urausu isn't as industrial as Amegakure, while it still boasts the technological advancement of Amegakure it is a city designed to be the showboat of Arashi no Kuni. The Police Watch Corps patrol the city heavily with Shinobi support.

Any official events occur here and tourism is a huge boon to the economy. The city is well polished; buildings are immensely elaborate and in quarters away from the political district row after row of bars, restaurants and shops line the streets. The center of Urausu holds Urausu's Shiro, built elaborately to hold the residence of the Daimyo as well as host any political ongoings. Entrance to the Shiro is prohibited without official approval.

Moseushi

Moseushi is the industrial center of Arashi no Kuni, much of its technological testing takes place here and the city is not a place for civilians. Advanced weaponry, iron works and forges reign across the dreary place setting the rain drenched city under a red haze that pumps smoke into the air 24/7. Shinobi and the Police Force monitor Moseushi and protect its borders from outside interference or any thief trying to make off with technology. A train line runs directly from Moseushi to the outskirts of Amegakure to deliver goods and workers regularly.

shiraio

A large village on the edge of Arashi no Kuni, the village was once nothing but a simple trade port. Now, however, the village is on the verge of becoming a city thanks to the closeness it has to Haraju Pass. It is the main stop off for anyone entering or leaving towards Nohara no Kuni, though because of its closeness to Nohara no Kuni watches are vigilant. Still, it is hard to tell Shiraio is on high alert thanks to the villagers cheery disposition and the plethora of taverns.

hidaka

No one wants to live in Hidaka, but many do by necessity. It is the main accessible city closest to the Pipeline that borders Kaze no Kuni and because of that it is an essential connection to the rest of Arashi no Kuni. The town is formed of several multi-layers, not unlike Amegakure, the difference is the land isn't as arable as the rest of Arashi no Kuni. Many shinobi are routinely sent here to keep the peace and of all the cities in Arashi no Kuni it is the one filled with most strife.

samani

A holiday destination if ever there was one. Samani sits near the border of Stone Country but is safely buffeted by the large mountains on its border. It sits near a moderate sized lake with a pebbly beach that makes it the perfect tourist hotspot. Many civilians travel here for R&R and quite a few shinobi choose Samani as their go to destination when they get leave from the military. Of all the cities in Arashi no Kuni it has a sunny climate and very few rain storms.

erimo

A wide producer of grain and farmed goods, Erimo is a critical agricultural city for Arashi no Kuni. It is a key supply line for the rest of the country and is wealthy because of their trade. It is not uncommon to see transport vessels coming and going at all hours.

otobe

Otobe is one of the wealthier cities in Arashi no Kuni, mostly because of the precious gem mining from the mountains. It sets nestled on a higher altitude than the other cities in Arashi no Kuni and it is the main byway towards Tsuchi no Kuni, meaning trade is a vital source of economy for them. They import as much as export and have learned to cope with the low lying mist that comes down from the higher altitudes. Since the city is nestled on a shoreline of one of the many rivers they have a steady supply of fish and game.

assabu

Assabu is the main supply of water that filters to the rest of Arashi no Kuni. Sitting in the middle of the settlement is a large dam and power facility that allows the city to be as advanced as Amegakure and Urausu, they have pipelines that spread out across the country.

jansune keep

Jansune Keep is Amegakure's main outpost, a fortress built into the mountains that stand against Kaze no Kuni. There is only one way in and out of Jansune Keep with several false bridges around it, getting into the fortress undetected is nearly impossible and any such wandering will be met with force. All shinobi of Amegakure know to steer clear of Jansune Keep unless there for official military business. Jansune Keep serves as the main defense for the border with Kaze no Kuni. Because of its location within the hills of the borders and the dry climate meeting the wet one from the north the storms are far more severe than anywhere else in Arashi no Kuni. The amount of shinobi stationed in the Keep is not common knowledge, though the rumour is it holds shinobi numbers in the thousands.

zensho's & Passes

Travel around Arashi no Kuni is only safe because of the intense level of security around its borders. There are two main passages in the east that allow travellers into Arashi no Kuni and a few sparse ones in between the mountains to the west and south. All of them are heavily monitored by a series of Zensho's (watchtowers) that keeps a watchful eye on those within its borders. Each Zensho and pass has a small outpost of shinobi stationed.

Named Passes: Zosha Pass, Haraju Pass
Named Watch Towers: Roku, Go, Shi, San, Ni, Ichi, Toho

tenchi monastery

Nestled near the mountains that border Storm and Stone sits Tenchi Monastery, an age old temple founded by the hermits of the Tenchi Kaigen Kyoumon Clan. The temple has been around longer than Amegakure and the residents within do not accept guests readily unless they are part of the Clan.

tsuki no minami

Tsuki no Minami, literally translated to Lunar Lake is one of the largest bodies of water located within Storm Country. Thanks to the less common rainfalls and more often than not clear disposition, Lunar Lake made its namesake from the way it constantly glistens. The lake is nestled inside small hills that are uncommon for Arashi no Kuni, but thanks to the natural valley the lake is constantly filled with fresh water making it a picture perfect spot and a valuable location for water reserves.

bandai prefecture

Bandai Prefecture has no civilisation near it, seemingly unimportant, and has nothing but miles of green pastures and forests surrounding it. It is a place of note because of the many harsh battles carried out here. Throughout the years Arashi no Kuni has hosted countless wars on its turf. The scars of war have healed the grassy plains but any who wander here can still see the gouges in the earth and shifted grass formations that have only been made possible through searing amounts of jutsu.
