Yamato had to wonder what had happened to his carefree life? Things had really started to go awry when he first bumped into that Kuishinbou woman, an innocent enough interaction, but now he was on a full fledged mission with her? The fact that they had been assigned to work the mission together had been a shock in and of itself, but that was only the start of the surprises for the distressed chuunin. The two were called to the briefing room incredibly early in the morning, before even the sun had come up above the horizon. Yamato took note of the important mission details in one of his spare scrolls, planning on reviewing the information as they traveled. With the briefing concluded, Yamato prepared to travel to Forest Country with Satsuko, but then came surprise number two. With that terrifying smile of hers, the Kuishinbou revealed that they would not be travelling by foot, but instead ride using her clan's horses.
Yamato already thought that Satsuko was terrifying, so it was only appropriate that her mounts were just as, if not more, fearsome. The man was already reluctant to ride the horses, and that reluctance only grew upon meeting them. Appearing in a puff of smoke, both of the equines immediately displayed a great distaste for Yamato, stamping their feet in frustration at the mere sight of him. Combined with being taller, and much much bigger, than the chuunin, it was safe to say that he was more than intimidated. He had immediately begun stammering his objections to the woman, but she quickly shut him down, ushering him to go ahead and hop one the blue-green one known as Odayakanamizu. After squeezing his Hokan no Hon for good luck, Yamato put the purple book away in a special pouch at his hip, tentatively approaching the imposing horse.
Surprisingly, she remained still as the man approached, though it was revealed to all be ruse as once he rested his hands on her she suddenly lurched an inch or two towards him, neighing in amusement. Absolutely terrified by the sudden movement, Yamato fell backwards onto his rear, his face growing red from embarrassment. Both of the horses broke out into loud snickering, and it was only after a few sharp words from Satsuko that they fell silent. Bringing himself back to his feet, Yamato dusted himself off before standing still, struggling to muster up the courage to approach the horse again. Growing impatient, the Kuishinbou woman reminded Yamato that they were on a rather time-sensitive mission, which finally spurred him to mount the horse. As soon as he was situated, both of the horses exploded into movement towards their destination. It probably wasn't a good time for Yamato to pipe up and reveal that he had no idea how exactly to control his horse, but thankfully he didn't have to. Satsuko and her mount were leading the way, and all he had to do was hang on tight and let Odayakanamizu handle the rest.
The next hours may have been a type of personal hell for the chuunin. While riding did cut the travel time down by a significant amount, the speed at which the horses went was far greater than anything Yamato had ever experienced, with some of the more bumpy stretches of land causing the man to even scream in terror. Thankfully, Satsuko had the mercy to make at least a few, quick stops along the way, giving the chuunin a few minutes of relief before continuing on their way. As the group traveled from Field Country to Fire Country, the terrain became less grasslands and more littered with trees, until eventually they crossed over the border into Forest Country. The change was incredibly abrupt, their vision would be blocked from every direction by thick treelines, the road winding through the forest at uncomfortable angles, forcing the horses to, thankfully, slow down quite a bit. Finally, the two were just a few hundred meters outside of the village where the information brokers were rumored to be hiding out, prompting Satsuko to bring the horses to a halt so that they could dismount and continue the rest of the way on foot. Of course, they'd want to discuss their plan before actually entering the village. Releasing his death grip on Odayakanamizu's mane, Yamato wearily slid off the top of the horse, moving to the side of the road to take a seat against a tree. He stumbled for the first few steps from both exhaustion and weariness, earning yet another round of snickering from the horses, their amused noises the last thing Yamato heard before Satsuko sent them away in a puff of smoke. Groaning from his saddle sore, Yamato really leaned into the tree, resting his eyes for a moment and waiting for the Kuishinbou woman to make a call.
