[Suikazura]

An odd team to assemble today.... What was Lazy Takara wanting to gain from a joint mission with Takigakure shinobi exactly? Suikazura had absolutely zero idea, but supposedly a lone shinobi from Takigakure was meant to have meet her and her teammate at the border. It was just a bandit extermination wasn't it? The heck was a foreign shinobi needed for here exactly, Suika would wonder, but honestly she didn't have time to be debating the reasons for her idol's decisions. Takara's enlightened mind was far from her grasp, but this was a fun gift all the same. Ouritsu was a really cool relative of her Sensei that she had met on a mission briefly before the chunin exams, but she had no idea who had been sent as Takigakure's envoy on this mission. She loved meeting shinobi though, it made her giddy at the mere thought as Ouritsu and her would cross the final stretch to the edge of Tsuchi no Kuni to Tetsu no Kuni. The land of Steel.

"Ouritsu-Senpai, who do you think they sent to meet us for this extermination request? Think it'll be another chunin? Or maybe it'll be one of the really shady jounin types. What if they attack us, are we allowed to retaliate? That would be really bad for Lady Tsuchikage-Sama though... Hmmm? Well lets hope their fun, cause I think were just about there if the map is correct- the border I mean... not they uh... not the bandits. Those are on the main road somewhere, we may have to stake them out." Suika would ask as she moved one reaching a small wooden bridge over a valley she would stop. Looking to the map and then back at her Senpai with the map in hand to show him before beginning to fold it up. They had to wait for the third to join them anyways, so all they had to do was sit for a bit, not that Suika wanted to, but she would drop backwards with a thump, making sure to catch her head as she did so. Looking up in a bored expression for the moment.

"I guess now we gotta wait huh?"

It had been a good minute since Ouritsu had been given the opportunity to stretch his legs and man had the powers at be really given him a chance to do so with this mission. Bandits were a dime a dozen in the shinobi world but these had a leader of some decent merit and were causing problems for not one but two countries so perhaps this would be a little more interesting than it read on paper. It was odd, however, that this had turned into a joint mission with another village instead of just sending a full squad from Iwa, but village relations and politics probably had something to do with it.

The Nohime could only wonder what Takara must have been thinking when she made her decision but it had been quite some time since he really cared about the supposed commander in chief. One of the partners for this mission was Suikazura, a now-Chunin who held quite a few interesting abilities, or at least that was what Ouritsu remembered from the prior mission they had completed together. She had only been a genin then but had still been able to literally split herself in two which once again begged the question of why they needed a third when a third was technically already here. Meh, no use on arguing about it now.

As the girl posed her question... er, questions, she did bring up a few interesting points. He wasn't quite sure who Takigakure was sending to help them, or more specifically, how they'd react being outnumbered by shinobi from another nation. Perhaps it would be someone he met during his time in the Chunin Exams in that village, though the chances of him remembering them were probably slim since none of them even made it to the finals. Hopefully it wasn't that demon cat lady that nearly killed him. "That's a good question, but I hope they aren't dumb enough to try something stupid while being outnumbered... and yes, we can protect ourselves if need be."

It wouldn't be much longer until the two Iwa shinobi reached the country border and of course it was empty. Well, better to be early than late one supposed but Ouritsu was ready to get the sleuthing stuff out of the way and get to the brawlin'. No matter, it would come soon enough. "Yep I guess so. Take a few to get prepped because once we start looking for those bandits we aren't stopping until they're very, very dead."

Reading the mission request over and over, Kunikunosaku looked at her stomach, forcing the threads to separate, placing her ninja scroll in her. It was good to have their objectives at the ready, Kunikunosaku knew this too well to go without being properly prepared. Storing her ninja tools in the pouches, the girl finally grabbed both Anger and Misery. Examining the dagger like blades, Kuni smiled as they were just as sharp as they were as if brand new. The Chūnin forced her forearm threads to open, placing one blade in each as she finished getting ready. As long as her threads existed, they formed her clothes, a neat trick to forget everything. The Chūnin grabbed a map from her room and studied it till she was at the village gates. Taking her mission scroll out of her stomach to show the gate guard, the female was okayed to go.

As soon as she was, she raced to the proposed rendezvous point. The girl was quite frankly appalled by such measures, she could take on any threat by herself if needed, she was a god to most people. Even if the ex-leader was a samurai, well ex, Kuni fought Toru, this should be easier. Arriving at the bridge, Kuni looked around for her teammates and found no one. Joints were impossible to meet at the same time, another sin the girl was appalled by. Kuni decided to let her stitches break and reform into a serpent. Maybe leaving at 2 AM wasn't a good idea. The black serpent snaked under the bridge onto a support beam and waited.

After what felt like a millennia, the girl heard voices above, followed by a thud. Time to go up I suppose. The serpent winded, coming up from the far end before restitching back and walking up carefully. Before taking out her anger blade and slamming it onto the bridge to get their attention. "Mission read like an assassination. Best not take any bandits too lightly. You should know that best, Suika." Kuni stated in a dry and monotone voice, letting some of her threads poke out as she pulled Anger back out and into her arm.

"So, when should we go, don't we have quite a ways to go?" The girl stated, looking at the two, studying them, analyzing in an attempt to learn their skills, it mostly failed with the male but not Suika, she had a close look back at the Exams.

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

Suikazura Nōhime Ouritsu Mikatakujira Kunikunosaku

As the Takigakure and Iwagakure ninja conversed, a light breeze would flow through the area, cooling those it touched. Across the bridge the group was on were hills and small patches of forest dotting the landscape. The day was bright and sunny, but only moderately warm. A good day to travel, or in the group’s case, hunting. At the end of the bridge would be a road that winded through the hills and parts of the forest. Plenty of spots for ambushes, which was probably the main reason why this group of bandits were so hard to catch.

Not much was known about them except for their elusive ways and how successful they had been become recently. The bandit group struck like lightning at their prey and retreated before they could get accosted. At first they only struck at unguarded merchants, but the more successes they racked up, the bolder they became. Now even guarded caravans were ransacked and goods were stolen, leaving nothing behind but corpses. These bandits were a painful thorn that needed to be removed. And now with the trio of ninja hunting them down, perhaps the slain civilians could finally rest in peace. Only time would tell.

Suika would shift as Ouritsu would tell her to start getting ready for what was assuredly to come. She would smile at him with a thumbs up as she inhaled a breath and replied back with some cheer, "Always ready Senpai-"

Forcibly hopping back to their feet one Suika would suddenly become two, the twin brunettes grinning to the older chunin finishing their sentence in unison, "Don't you know?"

It was around this time that Kuni would appear and both girls would show an expression of excitement as they raced over to Kuni attempting on both accounts to squeeze the monstrosity of a girl in a hug as if they had no sense of fear, and generally they didn't. If Kuni attacked hell would break loose between the villages as far as both girls knew and Ryuu and Takara were both fairly unforgiving leaders in their own respects towards their enemies.

"Its wonderful to see you again Kuniiiiiii-chan!" Kazura would say with a smile as she would either be sidestepped from her pincer hug into hugging her other self or as she let go from the girl. Sui releasing her grip similarly here.

"Anyways we are super ready if you two are. Its bandit extermination day in Tetsu Country!!! But I don't know if I wanna lead from here Ouritsu-Senpai, do you want to lead the charge? I think you're our most field experienced member here?" Sui would ask around the same time. Looking over at the older iwagakure shinobi with a curious glance.

It wouldn't take long for the third member of the mission to show up from some undisclosed direction and it seemed by the girl's speech she was either a people person or familiar with them. Even though she was from Taki Ouritsu didn't really recognize her from the exams. Granted it had been a good minute since his time there but he probably would have remembered that face. Instead it seemed that it was Suikazura that she was familiar with and the two... er, three of them shared a few gleeful moments reconnecting. Given that they looked around the same age it wouldn't be a hard guess to think that they met each other during their own time in the exams. Well that was nice, having connections near and far was always useful and perhaps if there were more of them the world wouldn't always be in an awkward state of tense peace.

Well, once the pleasantries had subsided, for now anyway, Sui would ask if the Nohime felt like taking the lead on the mission because of his field experience. They were probably all chunin so it really didn't matter who led but letting the other three focus on simply taking out the bandits would make things go smoother. "Yeah sure, shouldn't be too much of a problem taking these guys out. Leader might be a bit annoying but with the er, four of us we should be back to our respective homes in no time."

Ouritsu would shift his gaze to the Taki shinobi next. "Is Kuni a good name for you or do you prefer something else?" The name was probably a bit too chummy for two people who had just met but at least it was simple to remember. Regardless of the answer the chunin would direct the group to soon move out. The best way to find the bandits would be to hit up spots they had ambushed people at and go from there, and with the road they were on full of hidey holes and other shadowy spots they were probably on the right track.

"Either of you decent at sensory or tracking?" He would ask. It wasn't his strong suit aside from the basics and any leg up on finding these guys would do wonders in getting the jump on them.

The one Suika was already two when she appeared and after her stating her words, Kunikunosaku was attacked by the two girls... well one girl twice... er two at once? Attacked was a rather strong word though, more like they tightly hugged her, to which the Chūnin had no idea what to do. In an attempt to be human, the girl moved to hug the girl split in two. "I missed you two too." The Mikatakujira replied to them both, still wondering if Suika One and Suika Two were good names. They both were happy but clearly the peppier of the two addressed the male Chūnin. Ouritsu, huh? He doesn't look like anyone I know but I feel like Etsuko might have talked about someone with that name.

When Ouritsu stated that it should be pretty easy with the four of them, Kuni counted the heads. Do clones count? That's something else. She thought as she folded her arms now that the two Suikas released her. The Iwagakure male addressed Kuni about her name to which the girl nodded. "You may address me as Kuni or Kōi, like the fish. I have a... an old personality that used the alias Zangyaku kōi. If you would like to address the Mikatakujira Apprentice at that level of appraisal, go with my full name Kunikunosaku. But I understand that is a mouthful, whichever of the three you choose, I'll respond to." The girl explained, about half as wordy as she used to be.

The question Ouritsu had relatively made the girl rigid. "My friend and I... we can detect hearts, kind of. He doesn't tell me where but usually the angrier he gets, the louder he is. But, that way is hit or miss, depending on what they have." Kuni explained with a somewhat nervous and unsure tone. Yes, her control of Jiongu improved greatly but is it that strong enough. "It'll be near impossible though, as it is indiscriminate and has been yelling and nagging ever since I showed up." The Chūnin stated, eyes bouncing between the two, unsure of which element they have, only that both had something that Jiongu wanted.

The girl rubbed her head in an attempt to stop it, but her right eye half shut as a numbing headache washed over her. This was gonna be fun, right? "What about you guys?" Kuni stated, changing the subject to the two Suikazuras.

Suikazura Nōhime Ouritsu Mikatakujira Kunikunosaku

As the trio conversed, the group would quickly become a quartet as Suika split into two and ran towards Kuni. Giving the other kunoichi a bubbly hug once they got close, the two girls would bombard her with words as Ouritsu watched from the sidelines quietly. Kuni would give the two girls a hug as well in return as they conversed.

After the conversation the group would decide to let Ouritsu lead the group for now. They would talk strategy for a few more moments as they figured out what their partners' specialties and other things laid.

Whenever the group decided to continue their travels, they wouldn’t notice anything suspicious as they traveled. So far everything looked as it should, but thanks to their mission detail they would know that this wasn’t the case. Something was up, they just needed to figure out what.

The question was would the bandits attack a group of obvious shinobi. Were they that bold? Or would it be better to put on some disguises and lay a trap for the group? The group wouldn’t know how much confidence the samurai had, so they wouldn’t be sure which choice was better. Only time would tell.

The meeting and team adjustment started smoothly, but they weren't yet moving... the two clones really wanted to get moving and finish up this whole ordeal fast. It was hasty to not adjust to have your team in some level of coordination, she was learning that now. The girls would steal a glance between each other as they approached the bridge to cross it, or start at least. Get that out of the way and head on into the territory of the lion's den. She had bandits to kill and time was wasting after all! Kuni would then point to Sui for whether or not they had sensory skills and she would respond in kind.

"Don't look at us, we have about as much sensory skill as a rock... no joke intended. My team has two really gifted sensors in it, so we normally don't have to worry about it, and I really don't want to try haphazardly now," Sui would say as her and Kazura both formed a cross in unison with their arms to prove a point with the two individuals they were in the company of. Sui would then sigh and shrug towards her companions, "I don't think we have any sensory skills so lets just get moving to the waypoint we were given, and just be ready for an ambush?"

"I agree, we should get moving forward at least," Kazura would chime in.

"That 2/3rds majority in my book, lets get moving Senpai! Kuni-chan!" Suika would chime in further. Leveraging their numbers to just ignore the need to talk more and move on, would the others really want to argue?

Either way as the group moved Sui would take the front while Kazura would take up the back of the group acting as both the vanguard and the rear of the party since she was the most physically inclined shinobi, to her knowledge anyways. They would stay empty handed until the environment showed any signs of enemies approaching. It was the role she performed for her mostly ranged combatants shinobi operations team and she would stick to it. It was just a matter of moving forward.
