The badlands of Kawa had a certain smell to it that Asahi was familiar with. Even with his white mask over his face filtering some of the air, his memories helped fill the sensation. He kept rhythm with the higher ranking shinobi assigned to the mission with him and followed his guidance and instruction as they rowed a canoe through one of Kawa's various rivers. And as Asahi glanced around, half alert and half lost in nostalgia, he saw a younger him rowing by. He remembered getting out of the canoe and getting approached. He remembered the group threatening to kidnap him and talk about taking a bite out of him. It was only appropriate that he was assigned this mission. Fate, or whatever guided what happened to happen, if anything did that, was a cheeky ruler. But Asahi appreciated the chance to return to his childhood backyard, even if it remained mostly unexplored by him still. This mission brought an opportunity for a little bit of that, in a way. That thought brought him back to the fully to the present. He looked at the orange haired Kusagakure shinobi in front of him. The man had introduced himself as Juryoku Shunsui, and since the Genin Team 2 didn't have a sensei yet, this man would act as the squad leader of this two man mission as part of a diplomatic cross military action. So far, Asahi had given the man the same respect he would give the sensei of his team. On paper, it was a C Rank mission. A simple investigation into some disappearances and possible suspects, but if it was one thing that was rumored true about Kawa, it was that it was a place where anything could happen. Their findings on this mission would either support, or call into question the most popular rumor about the land and its inhabitants. "It’s been a long time since I’ve canoed down these rivers...” Asahi started but stopped himself, deciding to keep it to the business at hand, especially since they probably weren’t too far away from their destination at this point. "So what’s the plan once we get there?” the genin would ask his superior. Asahi was the type too make a detailed plan before going in so he was wondering if the higher ranking shining already had anything in mind. The boys golden eyes went down to his backpack and then back to being alert to the land around them as he listened for an answer.
