After all the excitement happen, Shizuha taking the chances that she did realize that the boy has flee the battle. Normally other’s would chase. But after examining the boys skills she decided to turn around and head back the other way hoping to avoid him. At this time she wasn’t prepared enough to continue to fight.

Although with an ice sword in her hand she felt this would be a better strategic move to regroup and see if there’s another way around the area. If all else fails she could always go back from her last place and try to check out the rest of the previous maze.

With that though she grabs another shuriken and then the torch hoping that it was still lit and head back the way she came keeping her awareness up making sure she doesn’t get ambushed again.

Listening carefully for other footsteps she approached the area that she first started at and decided to check the left hallway carefully and quietly. Peeking around the corner to check to make sure no one was there before continuing on. It wasn’t to often that she realize that she was kind of on the disadvantage in this area knowing there’s not enough moisture in the air to keep up with large scale attacks. But with the ice sword still in her hand she hopes that this might help a little as she continues to proceed through the tunnel.

Thankfully, the torch had managed to stay lit during the entire ordeal. It seemed Shizuha wanted to explore the other tunnel even before making sure was in the clear. Before she could get more than a few meters away, the same sort of clap rung out from the direction that the mystery genin had darted away in, footsteps rapidly rounding the corner. As he came back into view, another glass shuriken was forming in his hands before being flung in the Yuki genin's direction, a mixture of shock and frustration on his face.

"Excuse me did you just forget I'm here?!"

While the boy had kept his mouth shut during their initial clash, his voice was now only filled with incredulousness. He had, admittedly, darted away himself, but that was to utilize guerilla tactics, winding walls of the labyrinth to repeatedly 'ambush' the Yuki girl, but he found it hard to believe that someone would completely turn their back to an enemy.

Like the first time, the young male immediately began forming a string of handseals when the glass shuriken left his fingertips, the same string of signs from earlier before he launched another ball of ignited oil in Shizuha's direction.

After picking up the still lit torch the next thing she heard was the boy’s voice. She give a smile as she would throw her shuriken at his glass one once again. Jumping back away from the fireball she would weave a set of hand signs. This time though she would gather a bit of chakra before releasing it. With the temperature massively dropping and her gathering ice particles from the water in her canteen she would blow a large blast of cold air in the general direction of the boy.

"Oh no. I didn’t forget about you. I just have other places to check out.”

She replied to him seeing what he’ll do next. With that though she would weave another set of hand signs this time though she would wait to see what the boy would do before performing the technique. This time though she doesn’t try to back off besides getting closer to the main hall where it split off between the two hallways. But this time she didn’t take the torch hoping that the complete darkness might help her this time.

"This time I’m going to do something besides defensive tactics.”

She thought to herself before preparing for the next engagement with the boy.

With this done the user will release a swift cold blast of air, capable of freezing entirely freezing bodies on a thirty meter path as long as they remain into the area of effect, as well blinding them by the sudden appearance of the northern light.

The mysterious genin clicked his tongue in frustration when he saw that his fireball had been evaded again, hands coming together to go for yet another attempt though he stopped when he saw that Shizuha was already forming handseals of her own. He only barely managed to duck back around the corner when the blast of cold air was sent down the tunnel. He was spared a direct hit from the attack, but even from his cover he felt himself shivering from the freezing temperatures. For a moment, he felt that the attack would last forever, but eventually the light from the aurora died down, along with the freezing winds.

He grit his teeth as the Yuki genin sent some mildly taunting words his way, but ultimately staying out of sight until he heard her moving again. It was unclear whether or not she was setting a trap for him and so he took the opportunity to dig through his own bag. He withdrew a trio of regular shuriken, keeping them in hand before popping back around the corner. The moment he revealed himself and saw Shizuha forming handseals he realized he had made a slight miscalculation. Still, he flung the three shuriken in varying curves towards the Yuki genin before bracing himself for whatever attack she threw in response.

After avoiding another one of the boy’s fire balls, Shizuha would wait to see if he would pop himself around the corner once again. This time though she wasn’t expecting him to throw actual shuriken at her. But it didn’t bother her one bit. Avoiding what she can by leaping back even more before releasing her technique. This time though she would touch the ground releasing ice particles towards the glass user. If the ice manage to hit the boy it would begin to cover over him starting from his feet and work it’s way up. If it miss, it might be enough for Shizuha to make her strategic retreat.

Before she could do any type of retreat though she would forge another set of hand signs but this time instead of Ice shuriken, she forge dozes of ice dagger-like construct. Tossing all of them in the direction of the boy as in hopes it would find him off guard as well as takes care of any other shuriken.

If she manage to retreat it would be the perfect time to start heading into the starting hallway after breaking open the wall as once again doing another set of hand signs.

After weaving the hand sings the user touches the soil/floor in the direction of the intended target as particles of ice began to emerge in the air. Should the technique strike the opponent, ice will begin to cover them, surging from the ground/ soil and creeping slowly over their bodies, rendering them immobile and susceptible for another strike. While useful the technique is better used as a surprise attack. Additionally the technique works better on an environment with abundant moisture in the air.

A Swift Surrender

The genin grunted in frustration when he saw his trio of shuriken go wide, all of them missing their mark with the Yuki genin taking a simple leap backwards. He barely had enough time to react to the girl suddenly touching the ground before he felt ice capturing his feet from below. The moment he felt the frost creeping up his legs his hands flew together to form the familiar set of seals before he launched another fireball.

The ignited oil left his gut in just the nick of time to melt away the incoming flurry of icicle daggers. The residual heat from the fireball helped just a bit with the ice on his legs, but he realized that he'd need to apply more heat to be fully free from his immobilization. He didn't know where Shizuha had went, and after evaluating his situation he made a quick decision.

"I surrender!"

Immediately after shouting those words, the mystery genin pulled his bag off of his back, reaching in before a click could be heard. Just a moment later a hole opened up in the ceiling, a Kusagakure shinobi dropping through and grabbing the one who pressed the lifeline button before vanishing back up through the hole, the earth shifting to fill it just as quickly. The only trace of the mystery genin was his discarded bag on the floor of the maze.

It wasn’t long after she started to head back that she manage to hear the boy surrender. With how things are going with her she either mange to capture him in her technique or he was just toying with her and got enough enjoyment out of what she had to offer. Either way she wasn’t wanting to go back and find out. Instead though she thought this would be the perfect time for her to sit down and catch a breather. At the moment she wasn’t really hungry nor thirsty but was getting to the point of wanting to take a break after a fight she wasn’t really expecting at first.

While resting though she didn’t keep her guard down. She was aware of her surrounding just incase another sneak attack happens. Gathering another shuriken from her bag as well as weaving a set of hang signs to prepare her self for the next portion of this round. The other thing that she realize is that she doesn’t have the light source at the moment. She’s not really sure if it still lit nor does she thing it would be smart to pick it up again. At the moment stealth was the best option for her and hope she can find a way out of this maze.

Endurance

Despite the dicey-ness of the situation, Shizuha's persistence had allowed her to claim victory over her opponent. After defeating the glass release boy, she wisely decided to take a rest, keeping her guard up with shuriken in her hand. The torch that had been dropped earlier was on the ground of the tunnel, and still miraculously lit, if not at a much dimmer level.

Thankfully, or unthankfully depending on one's perspective, that would be the last of the conflict Shizuha would have to deal with for the time being. Two days would pass by in the trial relatively uneventfully from that point on. That wasn't to say the maze was static, however. There were still traps to evade littered throughout, and the structure of the labyrinth itself changed periodically. Shizuha would come to find that a few walls were a permanent fixture of the maze, randomly closing off paths while opening up other avenues as well. As random as it seemed though, the shifting tides of the maze were clearly a conscious effort, always keeping the Yuki genin from accessing certain areas or meeting other participants. It soon became clear that this was primarily a test of will and endurance. How long could the genin last with no idea when the end would come?

Provided Shizuha hadn't given up by this point, she'd get a welcome change in pace on the start of the 4th day. A new path would make itself open to the Yuki genin, not a cramped tunnel like the ones she had no doubt grown accustomed to, but a more spacious square room. In the center of the room was a strange looking cube on a pedestal, and on the far side of the room was a large door with seals on it, clearly linked with the cube in some way.

Minor Timeskip

After a well deserver rest, Shizuha was thankful that no one had decided to attempt to ambush her once again. This time though it was time to continue on to find her way out of the maze. Like before she avoided picking up the dimly lit torch and kept marking her pathway while keeping her guard up for more ambushes or traps that were set throughout the rest of the maze.

Although the rest of her time in the maze was quiet the fact that she was looking between each and every corner of the maze she didn’t let up and continued on. This exam was more than just becoming a Chuunin, but to show that she was strong enough to last on her own for her clan.

It wasn’t until the maze kept changing the path for her did she realize that she was getting close to a change of scenery. The maze went from narrow hallways to a wide open squared room. Although what seem to be low to no threat in the area she kept her guard up. Walking into the room and notice a strange cube on a pedestal as well as a door with a seal in the far end of the room. Unknown what to do she decided to walk up to the cube and press her hand on it to see if it would activate the cube. Keeping her guard up just incase something would of happen.

Tired and exhausted, Shizuha didn’t let up and kept going as much as she can to make sure she was able to continue to the next round of the exams. With what ever water and rations she had left she would take a bite and in hope to keep some left over incase there was more to the second part of the exam.

A Curious Puzzle

Walking closer to the cube revealed that it was a bit more intricate than it initially seemed. A closer look at the cube showed that it was more than just a simple geometric shape. It was about half a meter long on each side, and while most of the faces were smooth, two of the sides had a hole on each of them. The holes were about the size of a fist, going all the way through and meeting inside the cube. The seal markings seemed to be coming out from the holes, anchoring the cube to the pedestal, with a different set of seals on the other faces matching the ones on the door. The door itself was actually quite large, hinting that there was an even bigger room beyond it, but first Shizuha needed to solve the mystery of this cube.

The cube didn't really react to Shizuha simply touching one of the faces and neither did the door. After 4 days of being in the labyrinth, it was very feasible that Shizuha was running low on food and water, especially considering she had used quite a bit of her water supply to fuel her Hyoton jutsu in her fight against the mysterious Glass Release genin.

With the cube nor the door reacting to the simple touch on one of the faces from Shizuha’s hand. She stopped and think. It seems to be a puzzle and after examining it, she notices that there’s a few seal markings on the cube that was also on the door. The only thing is what is she needing to do to break the seals. If there is any that is. Once finishing examining the cube she also notices two holes in the cube that meet up in the middle. Sticking her hand next to one of the holes she did realize that it was about the size of her fist. It didn’t take much time before she decided to stick her left hand into the hole.

Waiting to see if the inside of the cube was a trap or react to her fist being inside the cube she would then turn around and either pull out of it tried to trap her hand in or she would decide to stick her other hand into the other hole and see if it would react to that.

She wasn’t fully understanding the objective of the puzzle but trial and error is always a way to proceed with the puzzle. The only thing she’s hoping is that she can get it either in one shot or she can eliminate all the self-obvious moves. Waiting to see what would happen though she would keep her guard up incase anything happens while she’s stuck in this position.

2 vs 1

The cube still didn't react to any of the touching that Shizuha did to its exterior, though she'd find that she made some sort of progress by sticking her left hand into the hole. Immediately, the hole closed itself around the genin's wrist, the left portion of the cube shrinking ever so slightly to accompany this change. The seals on the left side were also sucked back towards the cube, latching onto her wrist for further grip. The cube was still attached to the pedestal on the right side, with the hole on that side also remaining the same size.

Try as she might, the Yuki genin would be unable to pull away from cube, and by extension the pedestal. The only other option Shizuha had was to stick her hand into the other hole in the cube, which would result in essentially the same sequence of events occurring. With both hands inside of it, the cube would fully close itself around both of the Yuki genin's wrist, shrinking down to function in exactly the same way handcuffs would. The inside of the cube was hollow, so Shizuha's hands could touch each other and form handseals as necessary, though her arm movements were still greatly restricted

What was possibly more interesting than both her hands being latched together, however, was the way the seals on the door also pulled away, opening the way forward into another room. Like the room that housed the cube, this cavern in the labyrinth boasted a much higher ceiling and it was even bigger horizontally as well. There were plenty of torches attached to the walls all around, but what was the most noticeable was the fact there were already others present in the room. In the center was someone who was clearly an exam proctor, sporting standard shinobi attire with a Kusagakure headband, and beyond them was a pair of people. Their statuses were just as obvious, both of them wearing the same plain clothes given to the exam participants with their wrists attached with a cube. One appeared to be a female and the other a male, and their postures stiffened upon seeing Shizuha enter the room.

The Kusa shinobi in the center acknowledged the Yuki genin's arrival with a nod, making a handseal that shut the door behind her before speaking up in a commanding voice explaining the situation.

"You've all done well to endure for this long, but too many participants remain in the labyrinth. This will be a way to more quickly weed out stragglers and accelerate those who show potential. The three of you will have a no-limits battle here and now, ending only when one party verbally surrenders. For the duo, this means if your partner surrenders, even if you do not, you will both lose the battle. The remaining party will be named the victor and be allowed to pass the rest of this round prematurely, while the losing party will be forced to remain in the labyrinth for the rest of this exam round's duration. With that being said, would either party like to surrender now?"

The proctor looked first to Shizuha then the opposing duo nonchalantly, seeing if any of them would like to back out now. It was clear that Shizuha had the numerical disadvantage, facing off against a pair of genin, but she did have a different advantage. Unlike the duo, she wouldn't need to coordinate with anybody, meaning all of her reactions would be her own, and her own two hands being connected to each other would grant her the ability to form handseals for jutsu. The other pair didn't make any indication that they'd like to back out from this battle, leaving Shizuha to make the ultimate decision, should she risk fighting to leave the labyrinth early? Or should she just surrender and save her strength? If she didn't decide to back out from the battle, the proctor would give the signal for the fight to begin.

It was no surprise that the cube was a trap. Although it seems to be part of the Chuunin exams it felt more like a trap to capture other shinobi from different villages. With her arms stuck inside the cube though she does notice the ability to form hand seals. And as does so she starts forging some.

While the door is opening, she notices the room got a lot bigger. Almost like an arena for fights. With the bright glare disappear, she notices two other Genin in the same cube as her. The only difference is they’re stuck together whereas Shizuha was by herself.

Looking around before one of the proctors explain why the three of them are here. She got a good idea of what was going on. Although, she does have the disadvantage number wise she does see that the two Genin have to work together to perform their own techniques which could potentially slow them down. That being said if she so happens to send a volley of ice towards one of them then both have to evade it and could mess up their ability to make any technique. The only question is where these two fighting each other before agreeing to team up until the next round. Was she supposed to do that with the glass user. Question ran through her mind before the proctor asked if anyone was wanting to step down firstly looking over at Shizuha. With no words nor no hesitation to give up she shook her head no to give them the idea that she was wanting to fight.

Opening Blow

The male genin and female genin opposing Shizuha shared one more look with each other before the proctor officially began the impromptu battle. They had had some time to get to know each other over the past few days but it was clear their allegiance with one another was born more out of necessity than true friendship. Without further delay, the enemy genin dashed towards Shizuha in unison, the pounding of their feet against the hard-packed earth sounding more like one pair of legs rather than two.

The male said something to his partner, but at this distance it was unlikely that Shizuha would be able to make it out. A moment later, however, it was clear what the male had conveyed. They came to a premature stop about 25 meters away from the Yuki genin, the enemy male reaching over to rummage through the other’s bag and withdrawing a trio of shuriken. While this was happening the girl kept an eye on Shizuha, ready to alert her ally if the Yuki genin tried anything. A moment later, the boy sent a volley of bladed weaponry in Shizuha’s direction. The center shuriken was aimed straight for her, with one going to either side to attempt to cut off a slow lateral evasive maneuver.

She watched the two of them dash towards her. With no way to acess her bag for the shurikens the only thing she was able to do is to make her own. That being said she would weave the hand seals. Knowing that they don’t know if she’s weaving hand seals, she would gather the moisture from her cantine once again.

Forming ice shurikens, she would launched them at the shurikens to counter there attack. Right after launching though she would weave another set of handseals. This time though she would gather the moister and start creating snow that would begin to blow around in the area. With this she was sure that they won’t be able to dash at her as quickly as well as throw more shurikens unless they get closer to her.

With that though, she would start to weave another set of handseals. This time though she would wait to see what the duo would do in response to her techniques. The first thing she remember from Lady Shuka was to wait to see what the opponent is capable in doing and since she’s already showed her ninjutsu she was sure they were going to find a way to get close to her if she didn’t cast Whiteout.

The user builds up moister in the air to create snow or uses existing snow that is already on the ground. The user uses Futon to push the snow into the air with a radius of 25 to 50 meters. The user is able to create wind speeds strong enough to reduce running speeds and lower a kunai's effective range to ten meters, throwing projectiles up to thirty meters off the mark as the raging winds push them out of the swirling snowstorm. With the snow blowing in the area, the visibility would be around 10 meters and would affect everyone’s hearing who is inside the radius.

Similar to many other techniques employed by the Yuki Clan, the user gathers moisture through the air which then the user begins to freeze. Creating a group six shurikens with the form of a snowflake. While beautiful to look at the technique presents the same durability and piercing capabilities of a real shuriken.
