[attr="class","hotaruBody"]A decision had come. With his sister returned to where she belonged, Hotaru took the long way home back to the Land of Birds to avoid detection. He was now in his inner chambers on the second floor of his hospital, where he had been playing doctor hoping to somehow unbloody his hands for far too long.

In front of him was a cipher of his own writing and code. It was one that he knew well. Sitting before him was a set of instructions for an operation that was intended for himself of all people. He had procured a ration pill as well, for the procedure would require a hefty amount of chakra and energy.

Written on his scroll were memories, recent and past. Everything that could come to mind of his past with Konoha and Kazui. He hoped that by erasing her memory of meeting him she could go back to her life and family, but it did little to erase his own pain.

Beginning didn’t come easy. Had he not a duty to the children of Tori no Kuni, there might have been better solutions that were assuredly permanent. After several hours of remising on those new memories made with his sister, he closed his eyes and sighed. He would begin sealing away every memory that he had of his family, including her. The process took multiple seals, and he began getting confused about what he was doing throughout, referring to the document instructing him to "erase all memory of family” on the first line. He did so until his personal life became a blur.

The next set of lines would be much more difficult. Erasing Konohagakure from his mind. Several more hours would pass as he removed all memory of his former life. After "erase all memory of where you came from” was completed, he looked down at the paper’s next instruction. With a single seal he heated his finger to light the scroll on fire to burn away its instruction. He then performed a final seal, managing to tuck away his knowledge of memory sealing and the fact that he had just done it to himself.

After the procedure was completed, Dr. Kazutoshi stared blankly at the wall. He had forgotten what he was doing, and he felt a bit fuzzy. He looked to the left and right, scratching his head in confusion. He took a look outside, seeing the orphaned children that he took care of playing, and he smiled. It was his life’s work to take care of these children, who had come from nothing, like him.
