Asuna had been off the missions list for sometime, so it wasn't exactly an oddity that she was sent on a fairly obscure mission right as she made it back from where she had been left to train in the facilities below. Having returned mostly unscathed to the overworld Asuna had decided that she would take in onto herself to push further and further against her limits. Even on this mission she was working on the idea she had built into her mind. If she could just use the silk as weight and momentum by manipulating it to make her move as she wanted she would be far scarier to find in future if you were not on her side of things. One step ever closer to her leader's grand demise, a feeling of ecstacy came from that thought. She sadly couldn't bare to linger as she moved onto the empty ports of Gengetsu.

Mostly empty that was anywas, the actual port itself was left empty for a ship that was meant to arrive shortly with a yukigakure genin who she had little understanding of as well. Yuki Hinata, that was all she was given to work on namewise, and so far she considered whomever it was to be deadweight. She could have done something this simple on her own if the mission details didn't bring and extra circumstances. Construction was becoming a sad skill of Asuna's as she stared at the space of land that she considered the safest position of the port to build upon. It was along an inner portion of the boards on the harbor that couldn't had a boat placed due to poor construction mapping. Forming a few handseals she would outstretch her silk and begin shifting construction materials from the ground into the water, testing the depth needed for the log placement This would be simple if they sent someone who was even moderately skilled physically. Between two people the barebones of the building could easily be put up in a day, especially if things went as they were supposed to.

Hinata had never been off of the island of Yuki no Kuni. So when he had sailed south, well it was an odd sensation. But it was a ship that he could trust - he was told - as he landed in Mizu no Kuni. For the first time in his life, he was not in Yukigakure no Sato. The world smelled like freedom. What was odder was there was no snow here, but anyone that got anywhere near Hinata would immediately feel a drop in temperature. Almost painfully so as the genin tottled off of the ship to inspect what they were supposed to be building here. It seemed that Asuna was already here, his partner, he had only briefly seen her picture in the mission briefing. She looked quite stoic, which immediately intimidated Hinata - despite his height and overall fairly solid stature - he would approach and smile weakly.

"Hello, I'm Yuki Hinata..." He wouldn't make eye contact just introduce himself and look towards the construction materials. It was time to build, he figured since the girl had decided to start without him. Which, frankly wasn't very considerate of her as a teammate of his. The boy would lift several large planks and begin to move them into place as was necessary. He was not the best builder, but he could follow instructions very well and he was extremely strong! A definite boon for the mission.

It would seem that she wouldn't be working for long before the envoy of Yuki would arrive. He looked young, and, like her, he was visibly scarred. Though Asuna hide her left arm with as much silk as she could. A glance to him and a curt nod would be met to his, though like the air around Hinata himself, her eyes were ice cold. Like blood-y ice it seemed like she was glaring even though her brow wasn't furrowed in the slightest.

"Waruichi Asuna, its a pleasure to meet the Yukigakure Envooy for this mission. Pardon the rudeness of me starting the building before you arrived, as there is only so much time in the day and I was not made aware of when you would be docking I began work," Asuna would say without a bow to really show respect on the matter. Her pride didn't really want to apologize for this, but she needed to if she was going to get away with this sort of thing. Swimming into her pocket she would pull out a blueprint that she was unaware if it had been shared to the boy. It wasn't like they were the only hands on deck for this mission, but they were both labor and defense in case of anything out of the ordinary. Handing it to one of the silk bandages as they picked up more posts and moved them in place like a conductor. A single bandage moving dutifully towards Hinata to show him the blueprint.

"In case no one showed you what we're supposed to be doing. As of now we need to place as much as possible before the days end. If you need help let me know." Asuna would state trying to get the boy to just not talk to her if she could help it. Talking tended to piss her off as it was.

Hinata shook his head at Asuna.

"Pleasure. No, it's not a problem. Faster we get this done the better." He did not mind that Asuna had started earlier, he saw merit in finishing a mission with efficiency. In truth, he had felt that they had arrived with a bit of a delay. But, with how unpredictable the sea was, well it was no surprise that there was a slight delay.

Carrying the planks and logs he would look over at the blueprint that she would show him with a tendril of silk. He would nod in understanding. They were the first step, so they only needed to build the groundwork more or less. Once that was done they were to travel to Yukigakure and do the same there.

The boy was quite handy though, placing things in place with a relative amount of ease. Taking hammers and nails and putting things in place with a singular knock against a nail. Soon enough, they could really see things coming together! Which was really swell.

Of course, Hinata kept quiet the whole time. If Asuna didn't want to talk, he wouldn't either. He was easily intimidated anyway and preferred to keep to himself as much as possible.

Unafraid of revealing her talents in silk manipulation Asuna did much the same. Picking up the heavy lumber and setting it into place into the ground for the rest of the construction. One by one she would hop between them to help push and drive them in just a bit further with how heavy she was with all of her silk collectively it was equivalent of dropping a good sized rock from a pullley to set the pillars in place. Finishing that she would move on to the wood itself, picking up two grown men's worth of wooden boards with the silk labor, obviously straining to keep the jutsu's power on a level that could handle it. Like a muscle anything could be trained if you were proactive about it, but some things were harder to train then others.

For example, strength behind an entire caste of things. Asuna shown best in Ninjutsu, so she needed it to be powerful. She hoped that by straining the limits she could get there, and so far it was working quite well. Not to say that it wasn't painful to do this sort of thing, but to the albino youth anything was better than going back to that dreaded facility to do additional 'testing'. Getting into a rhythm with the whole thing Asuna would begin to place the boards that would made the floors onto the lumber that made the foundation of the craft.Laying them so that the other labor could easily nail them into place.

It took a few hours, but between the two of them muscling along through this particular part of the mission. It would soon come to an end. At least, the supplies that they did have, and what was required of them to do. Later, someone would come and likely help build up the spot even more with time. This mission was supposed to be done in parts, and their job was only to do the foundational layout.

Once they were done it would be time to board the ship. Their journey to Yuki no Kuni would be in essence one where they were charged with clearing out any pirates along the path. This whole entire effort between their two villages was being mounted it seemed to clear out and make the trade routes secure and safe.

Hinata would clap his hands together to try and get rid of the sawdust from his hands that had accumulated from his carrying all of the logs, planks, and such by hand. Inspecting his fingers, before looking towards Asuna.

"Asuna-san? We can board the ship now." Since they were done with this portion of the mission it was time to move on to the next. A route all the way to Yuki no Kuni to set up an equally solid foundation in the cold.

"Do you have good clothes for the cold?"

In justy a few hours they had more or less constructed the majority of what was necessary here, the mission had them working in three spots, and it wasn't like they would be travelling through in just one day or two. However when she was asked a question on the matter it was on whether or not she had clothes that could handle the cold, to which she would simply nod as she boarded the ship for the travel. Taking time top produce a needle and inspect the ribbon-folded sheets of silk that she had wrapped her body in. The strands she had been using to move the load of wood from one place to another covered in small wood chip fragments. She would work on removing them one piece at a time from her silk clothes.

It would be some time before she actually spoke up as she worked. Having stayed rather close in proximity to the young man as she failed to look up from what she was doing, "Yuki... The ice clan correct? I was not aware that the clan existed in the land of ice, though I suppose that in and of itself should be purely intuitive looking at it," Asuna would remember back to her time in the land of snow and grimace as she remembered why she had gone... the state of her being back then... well it was in better terms at least, "How has your family been?"

An odd question, but she seemed genuine, the ice out of her voice for the moment. Still not making eye contact.

Hinata just kind of stood around awkwardly. He didn't look at Asuna, the girl didn't seem to want to be perceived so he would oblige by not perceiving her at all. Just letting her work on her clothing.

It was a while before she spoke, the landmass of Mizu no Kuni disappearing. Their job was soon to begin to eradicate any opposition that came across this path. Hinata was worried it would come too quickly.

So, it was a surprise when the girl spoke.

"Yes, Yuki." He knew of the Kirigakure branch, though nobody really looked upon them in a good light since they were defectors. "We originated in Yuki no Kuni." It was no surprise, the name alone stood to prove this statement of his.

His muscles were fidgeting a bit, he didn't understand why Asuna asked him.

"My family?" He voiced, a bit louder than before. "Not sure, guess a bit distant from me." Hinata was an enigma in this regard, most of the family was actually quite close. The clan made it a point to be close. But not with Hinata, he had been pushed aside for his history regarding the government of Yukigakure. He barely existed anymore.

"Er, how about you?"

Asuna would exhale a breath of satisfaction as she finished removing wood chips from her bandages and began to fold it in again under the basic cloak and the unreactive silk coat that she wore. Listening for Hinata's responce and finding a rather comprehensible and relatable response awaiting her. As she finished the last fold in of her bandages back inside of the thick coat that she wore over her normal outfit, Asuna would look over finally. Making eye contact at last, "I suppose we are not too dissimilar in that regard then. I am simply moving forward with my time."

Asuna would then stay quiet for a time, listening to the waters below her and thinking that it was quite the stamp of her heritege that she was not getting sick on-board the boat. It would be an hour or so of silence if Hinata didn't say anything further before they two could hear some amount of shouting up above. A ringing bell would tell the two that danger was on the horizon and Asuna would stand up and move around the front of the deck looking for the cause of the alarm. Out in the distance eastward was a large vessel with black flags.

"We only need to engage if they encroach on us, otherwise we wait correct?" Asuna would ask to confirm with the boy she was with.

"If there is opposition, pirates, or anything like that." He remarked, at least that's what he remembered from the mission briefing in the scroll he had received...

They would get lucky, or maybe not so lucky. But the ship would definitely start heading for them quite quickly and the captain of their ship told them to brace for impact. Hinata did, grabbing onto the bow as the pirate ship reamed into their backside. He clenched his teeth, this was going to be his first-ever bit of real-life combat. His heart was beating out of his chest, but he reminded himself that this could be like any regular spar. So, he would leap over onto the pirate ship though instead of using ninjutsu he started to fight with his fists and kicks. Using a series of maneuvers to do so as effectively as he could. His strength was quite substantial enough that it shattered a few noses whilst leaving bits of frost-welted red skin.

There were not too many people on this pirate ship, perhaps they were functioning on a low crew? Hard to distinguish, but he was punching and kicking as if there were no tomorrow, he wasn't the best in terms of team effort and without any steadfast commands he was left to his own devices of action.

Like wind upon a sail they were upon each other. Having lifted a silken piece of cloth up to her lips to hide her mouth which was upturned into a grin she had steeled her bandages ans run her way up the wood. Not caring much for how much chakra she was using. She would use all of it if she could. As she met with any given person she would perform a chop once to cut at someone who was dumb enough to block with their bare skin, before skewering with the other.

A maddening enjoyment would shudder through her, as she, much like Hinata would simply attack at abandon, her movements more concise but reckless than the boy's by a fairly large margin of error. It was to be expected when one went as low as dissecting their footwork. Hinata was able to adapt and breakdown foes with grace and power, but Asuna was doing something closer to a dance of death. Spinning and stabbing recklessly with long and jutted steps that looked more like a child's rhythmic dance.

It was not long before the entire pirate crew was beaten half to death or truly dead. The crew had truly only been twenty strong if that many even. Moving to tie the boat with the crew on their original ship to help move it for now... Kiri could likely use this vessel. A free ship would be a great gift after all... and if nothing else she could claim it to herself. Without much issue they would be back on the move again not too much later.

Hinata managed to get quick glances of Asuna's attacks. They were different from his own, she attacked truly without any restraint. He attacked more brutally, at least in a physical sense. His very proximity to the pirates leaving a path of snow, frost and ice wherever he went. It was like hell itself could freeze over with Hinata's presence. But, he didn't take out large amounts of enemies at once, one at a time...

Until one of his kicks failed and he felt a cut in his thigh from a sword.

He fell back, or rather stumbled back forcing himself to stabilize himself. He had to inhale deep and come back to fight the man with the sword though his attacks were a bit more fearful and tentative. It was with more measured punches and kicks and ice that he managed to fell the man.

A more steady pack of enemies surrounded him, forcing him to use more of his Hyoton. But, in the end he was at least marginally victorious.

In the end, the crew was mostly dispersed, dead or had abandoned ship. Asuna acted on the ship, Hinata did not argue. He didn't really know her intentions with it.

Following this squabble they were traveling to Yuki no Kuni at a heftier speed.

It was still several days before they arrived, making wide arcs around islands and any ships not flying flags. They would get to the area they needed and would begin to build again.

Hinata would take the muscling and heavy lifting of the duo, always the polite but quiet boy he didn't want to make Asuna feel as if she were doing too much... Especially since she was a lady.

There was little to do for a few days as the crew travelled with their ships. It was an easy journey from there, with Asuna having offered to bandage the Yuki boy's wounds on the first day simply out of politeness... it would do her no good as a genin envoy if her partner from the land of snow died long before they actually reached the shore and began the last of the ground work for the outposts. It was not their jobs to finish the outposts, just to begin and oversee the process and make sure it moved smoothly.

Having rested some, but not wanting to be shown up, she would use as much chakra as she could and call forth the eighteen tendrils of her Living Bandage technique. Moving the timber that was here in place, though the girl found it somewhat harder to move on the icier ground. It was quite annoying, after getting to a point of agitation that was frankly upsetting the girl instead moved herself into a stationary position within the struture and began acting like a pulley placing the framing according to the plans. As Hinata brought lumber she would put it in place. It was a silent sort of exchange, and for that she was thankful. Unlike the mouthy types Hinata shut up and did his job. Asuna liked that. It made her think of Toru though, and that was in and of itself a reason to get upset again.

She kept it internal.

[Yuki Hinata]

Unlike Asuna, Hinata was not in any competition with anyone or anything. He worked at a decent pace, an admirable one for his strength. But also, because this was simply his task and his task was the thing that needed to be completed above all other things. He didn't mind working hard at the command of others. So, Asuna didn't want to be shown up, but Hinata did not even notice that she was working perhaps just a little faster or a little harder. He thought it was a genuine desire to work and would occasionally give her slight praise or gratitude. The quiet kind, with bows of the head and smiles.

They worked hard through the day, and even a little into the evening. Until it was too dangerous to continue working on it in the darkness. The next day they would continue until the base was completed for the next set of shinobi to develop it. This was not a one-shot quick mission, unfortunately. It required the work and effort of many, and Hinata and Asuna were just the very first steps in that development. A development to be completed between their two newly allied villages.

At the end of the work, Hinata would reach out with a calloused hand to Asuna to shake hands.

"It was nice meeting you and working with you..." Her presence, although menacing had been very unimposing and quiet. He liked it this way, it meant he didn't have to make eye contact or talk too much something that he was often too nervous to do.

"I hope you have a quiet voyage home."

There was something nice about the boy's demeanor to Asuna, but she wasn't about to get more involved with someone than needed to. She had other more personal concerns... like Toru. That Nara often weighed on her mind as well. Logically she felt no guilt, but killing needlessly was never her intentions in life... She was shaken out of her turmoiled emotions by an extended hand. It was an unexpected gesture from the boy, one she returned in kind as she clasped a glove hand with the boys. It was not a strong grip, but her hand was oddly more solid than what should have been fine.

Pulling away she would move to the ship she had commendeered for her country. Boarding her newfound vessel with a few of the Mizu no Kuni workers that were working the ships she would turn only after finishing her walk up the gangplank to address the boys words. Her icy expression momentarily melting to give him a relaxed smile, "I appreciate that Hinata-San. Have a good life."

There was plausibility that she would one day make contact with the boy again, but as she sailed away, looking at the ice cold nation she doubted that day would be soon.
