I WILL BE YOUR LIGHT, YOUR BEACON OF HOPE
When Red graduated from the academy, he was placed on a team with two other genin and a jonin sensei just like all of the others. He, however, was on the unfortunate end of things, where his teammates had come up ready for the recent chunin exams, while he himself still needed work to be considered for such an event. As such, this past month, Red had been in something of a limbo, having no teammates, no sensei, and yet was still required to serve his village and conduct missions be it by himself, or with whoever else the advisors and missions board saw fit to attach him to.
This, however, was the first mission that Red would have taken since the event of his team’s "break.” It was a simple enough task, something he thought would easily get his mind off the unfortunate topic of what was to come next for him.
Red liked his team. He had gotten quite fond of working with them, and they were kind enough to take and accept Red at face value for who he was. He was quiet, reserved, did not speak unless spoken to, if he could help it, but he was also determined, driven, and was more than willing to put in the line of fire to help protect others. Chivalrous, some might say, to be so willing to forget all feelings of self preservation for someone else, even someone he didn’t know, but his old sensei had always told him it was a foolish effort. One day, his valiance would get him killed, and where would he be then aside from forgotten in some hole in the ground?
Still, though, it was something Red was not quite willing to let go of. He wanted to be a hero. A beacon of hope for those who had none. Regardless of what his old sensei would say, the young boy knew that was one thing about himself he would never change.
With a deep sigh, though, Red would take his next assignment. He’d be placed with another genin on a rather simple task of retrieving some of the various medical plants in the surrounding area to then be exported from Bonchi no Kuni. It was something he’d done before in months prior, but it was often something tasked to those of his rank regardless.
He’d arrive at the gates to Takigakure, hands in his pockets, eyes half shut in his usual unenthusiastic manner. He wore his usual red and white over-shirt, his Takigakure headband tied around his left bicep. His brow would raise when he saw another teen, about his age he’d assume, slouched over reading a book.
"You Satoshi?”
