A combination of the last syllable in his first name, and the first syllable in his last name. His mother originally came up with the nickname for him when he was a small child. Since then it's become a typical name he's referred to, and often times he even introduces himself as such.

A youngster with a cocoa-kissed complexion and a pretty lovable personality. He's got a pretty sturdy build for his age, not necessarily lean but very cut. Many say he gets a lot of his looks from his Mother. His big amber colored eyes look like orbs made of gold. His hairstyle typically ranges from many protective styles. He typically will pull his hair back into two puff balls, three strand plats, two strand twists, or french braided. It all depends on the look he's going for the following day.
Speaking of his preference, a lot of his style is derived from a combination of ninja field gear and street casual wear. Some of his clothes are typically made by his mother. He frequents village colors, pinks, yellows, blues, tans, it truly depends on the kind of day he plans on having. His go to accessory are the gold metal cuffs he wears when his hair is done.

Many of Shijo's traits come from his upbringing by his mother. She always instilled in him to do everything he can to be kind to others. Which is why he's always seeking to help those in need. He responds accordingly to those dealing with their own personal greivances. That being said one of his flaws is when he doesn't know to leave well enough alone. This comes apart of his inquisitive nature, and his ability to empathize with theoretically all people.
He's never been the type to accept ideals forced upon him. It's nigh impossible to sway his idea of morality, which might make him seem incorruptible due to his passionate feelings on independence. He's regarded by many as a very selfless and mellow individual who isn't easily taken out of character.
His mother on the other hand tends to point out his negative traits more than anyone. She always mentions how absent-minded he can be until something occurs around him. He's never been much of a self-starter and needs a kick in the rear to get him going. Which is why a lot of his grades suffer until his mother is made aware. If only he took his academics as serious as he took problem-solving. In fact if he kept that same energy it would solve his own problems, but he's still young and will understand sooner than later hopefully.
HISTORY Mommy Dearest(-32 ~ Present)
Shijo's Mother who goes by Akina Jojima, raised Shoji by herself when she gave birth at 22. She'd left her family in Kusagakure when she was 17, and drifted around a bit for almost a year until she settled in Kumogakure. Before this time she had been taking on lucrative jobs within Kumogakure. Just enough to keep herself afloat, since it was just her in the beginning. After only a few months of working three jobs, she came to the conclusion that working a lot was starting to take a toll on her. She'd wanted to actually enjoy her life as a young adult.
And she'd been given that very opportunity following a chance meeting with a woman by the name of Gin. A woman with a head full of snow white hair, and was an Ex-Shinobi; from what village was unknown to Akina. But Gin was so well respected that she'd received citizenship under Kumogakure. Gin approached Akina with an offer to be a dancer at her recently opened nightclub called The Blue Pill. It was pretty jazzy, the interior was way ahead of its time with bright flashing neon.
Given her current circumstances, she didn't give it much consideration and took on the job. It was thanks to this fateful meeting that Akina was able to finally make something of herself even if it were temporary. She initially started at the bar just serving drinks, Gin had been experimenting with various themes throughout the club's first year. Akina as well as the other employees were regularly stuffed into odd, bizarre, and scantily clad costumes that Gin conceptualized. However, the themes never worked out consistently for themselves and so Gin canned the themes outside of holidays.
After 2 years at The Blue Pill, Gin and Akina had grown particularly close pretty much becoming best friends. Gin was all Akina had and was like a big sister to her, and Gin happily accepted that role. Introducing her to her husband Sanosuke, as well as their children. The two women had their ups and downs, spats, and disagreements but they always remained true to one another. Their bond had become so unbreakable that they even got matching tattoos together. And on Akinas 23rd birthday, Gin had made a special announcement at the club that night. From then on Akina and Gin would be running The Blue Pill as partners.
As joyous of an occasion it was, it came at a great time because the next day Akina discovered she was pregnant with Shijo.
JoJo(1004 ~ 1012)
Shijo was born on an average day, and as healthy as any baby could be. He wasn't much of a crier, nor a problem child he had his tantrums and outbursts like most children. But was as well behaved as any small child could be.
His early days were spent at the Blue Pill, his home away from home. Gin saw to it that her Godson was as comfortable as could be. She even went as far as turning one of the spare offices into a playroom just for Shijo. His mother always took plenty of time out of her day to nourish his mind. Through this she discovered his love for building and tinkering. Most notable by the amalgamations of toys that he created.
When Shijo was 5 he started to speak very well for a child his age. And the older he got, the harder it was to keep him entertained while running the club. That was until Gin suggested that Shijo assist with running the club. Nothing extraneous that he couldn't handle at his age. Gin put him on trash duty, and it proved to be a fruitful decision teaching him responsibility in the process.
For quite some time business at the Blue Pill took a major hit following the Flu-like epidemic in the country. Gin was one of the lucky few to abstain from the illness, but her children were not as fortunate. And prior to the outbreak she'd lost her husband Sanosuke during the Shimo Conflict. Now the only family she had left was Akina and Shijo.
After the passing of a number of shortlived Raikage, and the internal lockdown of the village the Blue Pill was temporarily closed. That was until things returned to normal, and Gin even returned to work under the banner of Kumogakure to make ends meet. Akina spent most of her time taking care of the home. Finally, able to give Shijo all of her attention at the age of 8.
Which was in good timing after Gin realized that Shijo had a innate control of his chakra. Which was abnormal for a child his age and lack of training. Akina was originally hesitant in sending Shijo to the Shinobi Academy, but Gin reassured her his talents would go to waste otherwise. After some back and forth the next few months, Akina eventually was convinced and enrolled Shijo into the Academy.
Trial and Error (1013 ~ 1015)
His first year Shijo made it a habit to always be attentive and give his best effort in class. However, as bright as he was for a lad he lacked the production. Countless tests either barely passed or failed entirely for a majority of his first year. Even despite his failures he remained confident in his ability. Spending most of his time focusing and perfecting his ability to maintain control over his chakra.
Going into his second year at the academy with much more confidence following intensive study. Their was a huge shift in the classroom dynamics this time around. When it came to written exams Shijo was the leader of the pack, but his practical exams left a lot to be desired. In order to graduate he'd been instructed to demonstrate a simple basic ninjutsu technique. For months he'd been trying his hardest to perfect the Kawarimi no Jutsu.
Kawarimi no Jutsu was the easiest jutsu there was for Shijo and that was due to whatever innate ability he possessed. Being able to magnetize objects, in conjunction with the jutsu itself allowed for more windows of opportunity. And so he would exploit this the best he could, and Gin was incredibly helpful in assisting with his training. And eventually after presenting his prowess to his instructor they'd permitted him the rank of Genin by his 3rd year.
Low Tier Jojo (1016 ~ 1018)
Due to the the tight restrictions that the Village was under due to the rampant illness that still persisted. Work for Genin came in great abundance during this time. As trivial as some of it may have been, Shijo took pride in the lowly E and D ranked missions. It wasn't about the task at hand to him, it was more about how the small things had a big impacts. Helping elderly residents with everyday household work, or even assisting with the delivery of mail.
He had Gin and his Mother to thank for giving him the backbone he had to persist regardless of any situation faced his way. And that finding the best way to help others would always be satisfying in the end. It just was unfortunate that the worked slowed down when the new Raikage Riku was sworn in. As helpful and productive of a Raikage they were to the village as a whole. The workflow for lowly Genin like Shijo took a major hit.
As a result of the Village reopening it's doors to the world Gin and his mother Akina reopened the Blue Pill. With the reopening of the nightclub, it gave Shijo another means of work outside of shinobi duties. He still managed to meet his quotas going into his 2nd year as a Genin. And with the Village returning to standard operations he eagerly awaited the day he would be called to join a Genin Team.
FIGHTING STYLE Shijo isn't the most effective fighter at short-range, but he gets by with the little bit of Kendo he knows. He prefers to fight at the rear or mid as opposed to the frontlines. As a mid-long range fighter he likes being able to see the whole field in front of him. If working in a group, he's most likely the one to take on the role of a strategist or tactician.
Even though he prefers giving orders, he's not opposed to taking them either. Especially if it means the difference between taking an L, or claiming a W. Shijo looks to claim a small victory over a total defeat in any situation. Which is why he's always quick to take on a support role above all.

Since a very young age Shijo has possessed an acute level of intelligence. His broad understanding of a variety of subjects sets him apart from most his age. His brain is by far his biggest weapon, but the ability to apply that same knowledge to his abilities as a ninja sets him apart from the rest. While no prodigy, it would be an insult to call him anything short of a young mastermind.
