It was in a country's best interest to protect its borders and part of that process was information gathering because after all what good was having a large military force if you knew nothing about what your enemies were planning or the places you may have to engage in battle? While that may have not seemed too out of the ordinary it was a bit of a different story when it involved a completely different country, two to be specific. Of the multiple countries that bordered Hi no Kuni, Forest Country seemed to hold a hefty amount of strategic weight to the powers at be so much so that both Konoha and Kumo had a vested interest in mapping out the country while also ensuring that no enemy nation had a presence.

Recon was a basic shinobi tactic but detailing an entire country was no small task leading to this being a joint endeavor and even then only a single sweep out of multiple waves. The agreement had been made to meet along the eastern border of the country --as close of a half way point as possible-- and begin their surveying there. The team was small to keep detection at a minimum but what Shikajin did know of his mission partner was that she was a Jounin, and for once there was relief to not have to shoulder the responsibility of corralling a bunch of kids.

The day was young allowing the Nara to enjoy what he could of the quiet morning as he overlooked a small road bending around a thicket of trees from a small hill awaiting his mission partner to arrive.
