FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL It had been more than a few months since the joint effort of Shigure and Azarea had caused quite the damage to the pirate activities near the border of the Land of Fire and the Land of Teas. After they had not only destroyed their port and many of their ships in the Land of Tea, where they operated a resupply route, the duo would then follow up on the mission, after they learned about a meeting of numerous pirate crews, who were pretending to band together in an united front. Crashing their meeting in a island near their destroyed port, the two eliminated the vast majority of the sea criminals, removing all their captains and first mates, and ensuing that the sea routes would remain safe. The village intel had followed up on the mission, and recently came to find out that the true mind behind this whole effort to unify the pirate threat was a missing-nin. With his identity leaked, new information stated that he was trying to get many other pirate crews under his banner before trying to dominate the area once again. Since Shigure had been responsible for the other two missions, and considering the fact that this mission was mostly combat oriented, he was ordered to: go to a specific island in the coast of the Land of Fire, and take down the man responsible for it. But he wasn't going there all alone. Knowing this was going that combat was inevitable, Hyuuga Hitomi was sent alongside Shigure. The Hyuuga woman was known for her taijutsu prowess as well as her medical knowledge, thus making her a perfect mission partner for this occasion. According to the intel, the pirates wanted to build a fortress in said island, but they were not yet fully staffed, and only managed to establish a small gathering of forces, which made this a good opportunity for a shinobi attack. And with that information, the Hyuuga clan head darted towards the coast, in the southeast of the Land of Fire, off towards the island, and as he got close, his Byakugan would be activated, so that he could scout the area ahead of him. He didn't want any surprises. "First mission in a while?" he would ask his cousin, as they approached the coast. "So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep." 『 BYAKUGAN 』

Like all members of his clan, Shigure also has the famous Byakugan as one of his signature traits. Naturally, Shigure’s eyes have a near 360 degrees field of vision around himself, save for a small blind spot at the back of his neck above the thoracic vertebra. His eyes are capable of seeing through most objects, giving him great perception of his environment, and making quite the challenge to surprise or ambush the Hyūga when his doujutsu is activated. Having been seriously trained to develop his sight, Shigure managed to increase the range of his Byakugan to a respectful 8 kilometres range, which makes him quite the competent tracker in missions. His eyes also allow him to see infrared, through chakra barriers, discern clones from their makers, determine colour of someone’s chakra, and determine if a genjutsu is being used or not.

He is also very capable in his ability to see chakra, including the chakra circulatory system inside a person’s body, thus allowing him to easily identify the precise location of the tenketsus, which is paramount in the use of the Gentle Fist to its maximum capacity, power, and finesse. On top of it all, Shigure’s training and experience as a people’s person allowed him to add this insight to the power of his Byakugan, thus making him quite competent at reading people’s emotions. Therefore, when using his Byakugan, Shigure can usually detect if someone is lying through the impulses of their brain, heartbeat, and general body language. Moreover, when focused on an opponent, Shigure can even anticipate their reactions based on their muscles and body functions prior to the execution of an action.

With her options opening up so rapidly, Hitomi hadn't been expecting to be granted a mission outside of the village so soon, nor one with such a high level, and yet here she was racing alongside Shigure towards a pirate hideout with a Missing-nin running the shots. It was definitely enough to have her a little nervous, being out of practice as she was. There had only been so much she could do stuck within the Hyūga compound as she had been. That it was basically a pure combat mission was equal parts reassuring and concerning.

On the one hand, it was a straight forward mission that didn't require much thought beyond making sure they eliminated all targets, on the other, it was a relatively high risk mission which was why a medic was sent alongside Shigure to begin with. Still, she had everything prepared, her weapons all in their relevant places, and her body warmed up and calm in preparation for the action to come.

As Shigure activated his Byakugan, Hitomi did the same, her vision unfurling out into the indescribable view provided by the clan's doujutsu. While her range was not as far as his, having two overlapping fields of view wouldn't hurt them any, and her attention to detail had always been much better than the younger man's. Examining their surroundings in the standard concentric circle pattern with a focus on the front and sides, Hitomi kept an eye out for anything that might be relevant to their mission.

"It has been a while... there's a reason I signed up to teach at the Academy rather than join the active roster after all," she replied, her expression much more open than it usually was. Away from the clan, or any real need to act 'properly' she was a much more animated individual than most would expect, "still, I suppose if anyone has to put you back together it may as well be me, I've done it often enough" she added, a small smirk spreading across her face.
