Yamazaru
embrace your instincts. Trust the process.

CLAN TYPE: Hijutsu

CLAN ORIGIN: Hi no Kuni

CLAN RESIDENCE: N/A

CLAN IDEOLOGY

Due to the near destruction and scattering of the clan very little has remained in terms of a consistent ideology between members. However, due to the aggression which is so ubiquitous among many of the clans members that develop the clans Hijutsu there are some simple messages that tend to be passed down through some lines of the clan. This all stemming back to the clans motto: "Embrace your Instincts. Trust the Process”.

Clan members are often taught that their aggression, their anger, isn’t something to be fearful of. It’s what gives them their strength. It can be scary to give in to one’s based instincts, but members of the Yamazaru are taught to ignore that part of their brain that tries to limit them.

CLAN HIERARCHY

The Yamazaru clan simply doesn’t have enough people to have any true hierarchy. Almost completely wiped out the clan has dispersed around the shinobi world, with such small numbers in so many distant places the clan rarely even knows of other members, let alone form a power structure with them. Small families may form, but no large groups remain. Because of this there is no hierarchy to follow. Some may respect their parents and their parents parents if they remain, some may prefer proving themselves the strongest. They are no longer a structured force, instead being a loose group of refugees around the world.

CLAN HISTORY

Long ago, during the warring clans period, the Yamazaru clan was actually part of a much larger clan, the Sarutobi. Certain members of the clan grew their connections with the monkeys of Hi no Kuni, and found the Mountain Monkeys. These monkeys were far more aggressive than their lowland counterparts, but were equally willing to work with the shinobi. It is from this event that the Sarutobi and Yamazaru clans split ways. Creating a feud between the Forest Monkeys and the Mountain Monkeys. The Yamazaru were seen as much more aggressive, much angrier, much more violent than the Sarutobi. They had far fewer Allies among the shinobi.

Not too long before the founding of the first shinobi village, the feud between Mountain and Forest had begun to boil over. Wether it was because of the aggression of the Yamazaru, or because of the general turmoil of the time itself, battles began to constantly break out between the two groups. Eventually the Sarutobi, Allie’s with clans like the Uchiha, began an all out assault on the Yamazaru, viewing them as far too dangerous to remain. Bloody battle after battle raged as the Yamazaru were slowly but surely destroyed. Their numbers so small, and their clan ability so rare, the clan seemed to fade from sight.

In truth, the clan had survived, but only barely. Very few members still remained, and those who did quickly scattered as Konohagakure was founded. Some members managed to stay in the land of fire, changing their names. Others kept their name, but fled so far that the Sarutobi couldn’t expend the energy to chase. Some members may have remained, but the clan was far too small to be a true worry. This is how the clan has remained for decades since. Simply speaking, they have survived in small numbers throughout the world, losing their core identity. Some would carry the tradition on, giving the Hijutsu to their children, teaching their young the rituals. So few remained, and the likelihood of developing the traits of a monkey so low that it was only 1 in a million that a young shinobi developed the true Hijutsu, but the ritual would remain, passed from parent to child in the hopes that one day the clan would gain the strength to reform.

Because of this, any Yamazaru that remain tend ti have an intense hatred of the Sarutobi clan. Viewing them as monsters.

CLAN ABILITIES

The Primary Technique of the Yamazaru clan is the incredibly secretive Saru Tamashī Tensō no Jutsu or Monkey Soul Transfer Technique. A closely guarded secret of the clan that for many has been lost to history. Known by vanishingly few throughout the shinobi world, it is a technique that requires an incredible amount of training for one to use properly. Due to their ancient connections to the monkeys of the mountains of Hi no Kuni’s borders the clan has gained access to ability to draw from the abilities and powers of the monkeys and enhance their own abilities. Coming with a quite dramatic physical transformation, long prehensile tails, fur sprouting across the body and around the face, more animalistic facial features, and large toes able to function almost like fingers, as well as significant improvements to the inherent balance and strength of the user.

The Hijutsu is a series of seals and drawings made upon the newborn babies of the clan. These changes are not inherently seen upon birth, rather the jutsu will cause the chakra in one’s body to make changes to the physical development. For this reason the changes in the clan do not take hold until puberty, at which point the youth will begin to grow thick fur on their arms and legs, a tail will begin to sprout from their lower back, for some their face will become more rounded as well their jaw and mouth becoming far more monkey like. For everyone the hair will grow out, usually manifesting into unmanageable sideburns and long shagged hair that will join the thick fur along their back and arms. These changes do not happen to all members of the clan, the jutsu only truly taking hold for around 10% of the clan members.

These changes start at different ages for everyone, but always match up with the onset of puberty, meaning the changes usually begin around 10-13 years old. Even the latest of bloomers will see their full body change finished by the time they’re 15. All members of the clan have an inherently enhanced sense of balance whenever not wearing shoes thanks to the increased surface area and grip of their elongated toes. Like most monkeys they will also have an increased ratio of muscle fibers across their bodies leading to a natural strength much greater than that of their peers, able to easily lift around double their own body weight.

A continuation of this technique, though hidden from many in the clan as it has been lost to history, is the fact that with dedication and focus this chakra transformation that is given to so few of them can be further enhanced. At the cost of their mental fortitude further temporary transformations can be unlocked which can enhance certain aspects of the physical abilities.

[attr="class","mnt"]I'm going to start by saying I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of creating a sub-clan of such a notable canon and AU clan such as the Sarutobi. It is a deeply rooted clan in both canon and AU lore with absolutely no mention of a history of this sort, so to introduce something this large into its history is a tall order.

I'll also add that I really don't like how it is assumed that the Uchiha, Sarutobi, and their allies would simply attack the Yamazaru simply because they were too powerful as if their own clans weren't already incredibly powerful. Why wipe out a super small clan like the Yamazaru? It seems out of character and a bit overkill. You would need OOC head permissions for this as well, which is a volatile situation given that the Uchiha clan's OOC is MIA at the moment and there is no claimed Sarutobi OOC head.

Given this, I'd be willing to further discuss some ideas of this clan, but as it is right now their history with the Sarutobi clan and the Uchiha clan need to be figured out...I'd like to see something more realistic with the Yamazaru and Sarutobi, because there'd really be no reason for such notable clans in Hi no Kuni to even consider wiping out a sub-set clan.

I'd like to also confirm that with them being a split branch of the Sarutobi, they do NOT have access to their summoning relations with the monkeys, correct?

If this is the case, then where are they getting their abilities? They would have lost their ancient connections with the monkeys as soon as they split from the main branch and lost access to the summoning scrolls and their summons, no?

Could you elaborate on this as well and we can go from there!
