"Well...happy to see that's cleared up..." Raising her brow at the brief comparison between herself and Yaki, Miho would hold a smirk on her face before then closing her eyes as she shook her head. She'd definitely say that there were in fact clear differences. Along with the fact that relation was only through their connection as apprentices. Though maybe from different masters, that bond was hard to break. It was the same for her and Mairusu as well now. Though she remained silent as Miroru and Mairusu attempted to clear things up for one another, the brief slip from the young girl was enough to make Miho hold an expression of stone as her gaze shifted to the child. But it appeared that she had managed to clean things up on her own. Of course, she couldn't very well say whether she was free to share such information, she imagined that for safety reasons, it was limited to how many people in the village were aware of her current situation. Of course, the young man seemed to be attempted to be limited in his responses as well, which could mean that he was also restricted to just how many he could tell. Thankfully, their prior comments had saved each other, with Mairusu speaking on how he had yet to experience the "joy" of ingesting a snake, and Miroru on her own defense of her title for the Snake Sage. Of course, the first thing was the more dominant force of conversation, with the red haired female nearly wrenching at the thought. Honestly, Miho had been told of such strategy before in the past, but experience had taught her that it wasn't practical. Perhaps much credit due to her sensei having been a medic. As things began to settle, attention seemed shifted toward the appearance of the black adder having presented himself from her pouch, leading to the question and comment from the apprentice as Miho watched Mimiki slowly move up the length of her arm, placing himself upon her shoulder. "He is quite attached...His name is Mimiki...and before you ask..yes...he is...and yes...I was...in another time..." Her smile remaining, she'd make sure the twins were well and safe before rising up to her feet and then making her way toward the young man. "Summoning creatures, specific ones...are indeed capable of gathering chakra...and yes...the nature of gathering elements from our surroundings is indeed "neat" when it comes through a sense of true unity with everything in our world..." That said, Miho would grin at Miroru as she then stopped in front of Mairusu and then gently took Mimiki into her hands as she presented him toward the youth. "While he is not the strongest of his kind, Mimiki is one of the most knowledgeable when it comes to matters of gathering Natural Chakra...if you ever have need of him..I am certain that he will come to you if you ask..." She had to resist the urge to sigh in relief when he admitted he'd never tried to swallow any snakes. Why was that relieving? Why'd she ever thought he might have in the first place?

The redhead was left squinting suspiciously at the snake as she realized it was safeguarding info from the sage apprentice. "Heyyyy... why can't she help Mairusu-san learn more, Mimiki-san?! Aren't you on his side?!"

Miho went on to be even more mysterious than ever, and the redhead squinted at her. "He is what? And you were what? Did you used to be a snake?! IS THAT YOUR SNAKE DAD?!"

Hey, you don't specify things, Miroru's gonna ad lib some wild stuff.

She was kind of out of her depth with all this Senjutsu stuff, and- in true Miroru fashion- got distracted, rolling over and watching the twins play with the darting, teasing Bakenokawa...

There wouldn't be much time to wonder if the woman had a similar background before she made things clear: she had been an apprentice! Eyes widened at the prospect of meeting someone who had gone through this journey before and it took nearly everything for Mairusu to stifle the numerous questions bouncing around his head; though a part of him did wonder what had made her stop. Maybe it was the kids, but they looked so young that she couldn't have been an apprentice anytime recently since that would have put her under the tutelage of Kasumi and while there was a girl that had also been taken as a student alongside him it wasn't the one standing before him.

His focus would shift to the small snake staring him down from inside Miho's hands leaving Mairusu to wonder what use it could offer when he had seen first hand snakes the size of buildings. Granted, animals came in all shapes and sizes so it probably wasn't a good line of thinking to believe that the smaller ones were completely useless, and if he could help the boy learn more about gathering natural chakra then so be it.

"Whoa that's crazy." A seemingly endless repository of knowledge for the one thing he was focusing on was right in front of him tucked away in a mostly unassuming little snake. Mairusu wondered what other kinds of abilities or knowledge the other snakes had, well, outside of the giant one that tried its best to kill him and Yaki. Perhaps one day soon he'd be able to answer that question on his own but at the moment the genin couldn't call on any of the snakes.

"Well I mean, if you have some better ideas to help me gather natural chakra then I'm all ears. Otherwise..." Mairusu would trail off as he jokingly rubbed his stomach.

Miho would hold a blank expression as both her and Mimiki would turn their heads to look toward Miroru, allowing for the two to think on similar lines as the young woman would then gently hand the snake to Mairusu as she smiled toward him as she went to join the red haired female as she and her foxes remained with the twins. Checking on them, the woman would gently push her fist down upon the girl's head, her smile twitching slightly as she held her eyes closed. "My father happens to be Chono-sensei....not a snake..." Sitting herself back down, she'd then place Toshiro upon her lap as the boy would seem to move in her direction while Kazui continued to poke at Miroru's leg before rolling upon her back much like the female while giggling. Meanwhile, Mimiki would hear the small joke from the boy, prompting him to hiss as he began to move slowly around the surface of his palm. "Easy....sheesh....well....sides from staying still, theres a combative way of gathering it that the helps to gather it while on the move. Of course, the movement ain't a cake walk. Then there's the trick of just getting something that naturally produces it. Such as a flower..." As Mimiki continued to move along the length of his arm, he'd finally emerge upon his shoulder, resting upon it as it curved it's tail close to his face before pointing down. Miroru sat and stared a bit as Mairusu zoned out, clearly full of thoughts, and none of which she was privvy to. Maybe Itsuki could have peeked and kept her in the know, but she doubted he WOULD have intruded so.

Probably.

"Hey! Kawa-san!" Miroru called over to the foxes, as if they were the same person. Which... well, really, they were. "How come nobody's ever offered to gather chakra for me, eh? Is the skulk holding out on me?!" There was no real outrage in Miroru's tone- she was always over the top for the amusement of others, and faking outrage or arrogance was one of her favorite performances.

"Which of the many answers would you prefer, Miroru-chan?"

"That you did not ask?"

"That you could not handle the chakra you are asking for?"

"That we are not Sage animals and cannot gather that chakra in the first place?"

"Or do we need to point out the obvious?"

As if I would permit my host to be petrified with me inside. You are a one fox box, child. Cease this wondering. I'll permit no other.

Miroru looked a wee bit overwhelmed, but coughed and cleared her throat. "Well. As long as nobody's holding out or presuming my incompetence. I'm happy."

Getting bopped made Miroru squint and poke her tongue out! "Blergh! Okay! Chono-sensei it is! I was just askin'!" The redhead flopped next to Kazui and tickled her belly gently while she giggled, still listening but aware that the snake and Mairusu were discussing things beyond her comprehension and capabilities.

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

As he accepted the tiny snake into his hand from Miho there was a tiny yet determined smile on the boy's face as he heard that his research into that technique was not in vain and that there was a method for sage animals to help gather natural chakra for people without said person having to sit still. If it was indeed true then why exactly had he been working on sitting still well for so long? That should have been the first thing Mitsuda-sensei taught him, though as Mimiki continued to speak it would inform him that the jutsu was not easy to pull off. Figures. Plus, if there was ever a situation where he didn't have access to a sage animal then he'd still need to be able to gather natural chakra on his own efficiently.

"I knew it! All those books couldn't be wrong." The boy would reply though he was still confused about why they needed a flower. Thinking over it for the few moments it took Mimiki to crawl from his hand to his shoulder; this was the closest he had been to a snake that hadn't been trying to turn him into a meal and for that Mairusu was thankful. His head would cock curiously to the side as he wondered what the snake was pointing at though with his explanation of needing to be able to see natural chakra before being able to find an object that was bursting with it things became clear. "Oh, you want me to meditate? Gotcha."

It was a bit embarrassing with all the people around, even more so if something went awry but between the small snake on his shoulder and a former apprentice close by this was probably the next best scenario to training with Mitsuda-sensei. "Alright, here goes nothing." The genin whispered to himself while closing his eyes and steadying his breathing. He had been working on his meditation for a while now, or more specifically the ability to remain calm while the world around him continued to move, but had only dabbled in actually trying to gather natural chakra so this was bound to be an adventure.

Miroru and her foxes, the babies, and everyone and everything else in the park slowly faded out as Mairusu focused solely on the nature around him and the power their very forms held. He wasn't sure how much he needed to try and gather but felt like Mimiki would let him know.

"Hehe...never that...perhaps a bit absent-minded at times, but never that..." Miho would hold her smile as she looked on as Kazui was tickled by the older female, looking on as Toshiro would remain on her lap, soon enough seemingly ready to move once more on his own. As he began to crawl from her lap, his tiny hands touching the grass, he'd babble lightly before seeming to flop downward upon his stomach. Then, as if attempting to mimic his sister, he'd begin rolling along his back as Miho watched him carefully. Meanwhile, it appeared that Mairusu was starting to gain a bit of traction with his training, the small snake watching the boy as he began to focus. Despite his size, Mimiki had been hanging out with the Snake Elder long enough to know just what to do and what not to do. Of course, the key to start was for the boy to be capable of focusing. As he stilled himself, Mimiki would begin to hiss, his body moving upward in an erect position upon the boy's shoulder. As he began to gather chakra, he'd tap the tip of his tail against the apprentice's neck, allowing him to get a mental picture of just what he was looking at. "Ya see it right? That there is ya ticket...ya only take what ya need though...no more..no less...and the amounts can come from anything...people...animals...plants...course careful with people though...the idea is to take Natural Chakra from the surroundings itself..." With the aura of energy becoming more present to Mairusu, Mimiki would then stop his own drawing of energy and then let the boy do the rest. Having been educated by, more or less, every single breathing thing adjacent to their conversation, Miroru contented herself with playing with Kazui and ensuring she had fun safely while those with understanding and access to sagacious powers discussed and taught each other. She made a face as the apprentice started to meditate, clearly still uncomfortable with the act herself, though she has the decency not to vocalize her distaste for it.

"Absent minded... hrmph! I prefer the term... uh... otherly-focused! I don't forget things, there's just other stuff on my mind!" Miroru insisted, which was her way of saying 'you're probably right but I don't have to admit it!' She listened as Mimiki explained things further. Drawing in power from the things around them. That made Miroru frown a little in thought. Weren't living things all comprised of just two sorts of chakra? Bodily and spiritual? Where'd this natural chakra come into the equation? She wasn't sure. But that was okay. It wasn't like Kurama was gonna let her wander off and suddenly start taking lessons from a magic fox and learn an entirely new path to power.

That'd just be silly.

There was some apprehension with giving this a real shot for one of the first times but the snake on his shoulder seemed knowledgeable and Mrs. Miho had personally vouched for him so the genin would trust that everything would go well. Slowly he began to draw in natural chakra --drops in a bucket-- and at this rate Mairusu would be sitting here all night before he'd see any results, though once Mimiki began to assist in the process the drops turned into a steady stream and like a fog gradually lifting the boy began to "see" what was in his immediate area via the natural chakra coursing through his body.

As Mimiki spoke one thing became clear: he only needed to draw in as much natural chakra as necessary instead of his usual thinking of getting as much as possible as quickly as possible, which usually ended up with the seal painted on him activating and saving him from becoming a statue; it was all about balance. He did think it a bit odd that one could draw natural energy from people like some kind of vampire, but people were organic so it made sense in a weird way. "Yeah I can kinda see stuff, or I guess it just feels like I know it's there." Mairusu replied before the small snake would then instruct him to continue drawing in natural chakra while moving.

Wait, what?

Wasn't the entire point of doing all that meditating was the inability to gather natural chakra while moving? Wait! Maybe this was proof that his theory that certain animals could gather chakra for the user. A small smile crossed the boy's lips as the thought of all his research finally coming to fruition was quickly becoming a reality. But first, baby steps. Getting to his feet with eyes still closed Mairusu would slowly put one foot in front of the other while still attempting to draw in natural chakra. He could feel the connection getting a little shaky with movement but would trust Mimiki to be his eyes.

"Thats it....keep going..." Mimiki would continue to act as a guide for the boy, allowing him to somewhat intergrate with the flow of energy as he himself would work toward keeping it visible to him. It was a small trick, but it wasn't exactly foolproof. After all, while he was able to gather Natural Chakra fine, humans weren't so fortunate. It was a lot of things, but from everything the old snake told him, it just didn't work like that. Still, the kid seemed to be at least capable of figuring out. "It will take some time, but I've heard some of ya humans are able to actually see it...a lot of it becomes more present when it is taken gradually. If ya rush, it reacts...much like we do...it defends and well..ya turn into a statue...got a lot of those on the mountain..." --------------- While Mimiki was helping his prospective temp, Miho would see Miroru watching the two and seeming to try and understand just what they were doing. Calmly, she'd then begin to speak as she pointed at them using Toshiro's small hand within her own. "Their attempting to seek out a form of chakra that is at times invisible to the naked eye. It takes time to do so, and it operates much like how our own innate ability to manipulate chakra does. In a sense, the process itself is not one that comes easily...." In saying this, Miho would close her eyes as she held a calm expression. "The world is naturally filled with wonders beyond that of what is known...at times...if we simply allow ourselves to embrace it and learn from our surroundings...we can at times tap into it and it can aid us...so long as we understand that it isn't an infinite resource..." Miroru did spend some time watching Mariusu totter around with his eyes closed, tilting her head a bit. "You know, me and the foxes did training sort of like this once. But it was to build teamwork and companionship, not... that. Which is good, because I am just... awful at precision chakra work." A condition that as of late was, if anything, more difficult to manage than before. Thanks, Fox.

"Yeah, I did gather that much, it's just... kinda baffling that there's this third sorta chakra that's neither of the other two nor entirely different from them. It's like, where is this mysterious dimension where this strange chakra bridges the gap between the two but also yells "screw you, kid" and turns you into a statue if you don't do it right? It's not that I don't believe you guys, I definitely do, it's just... weird. Which is okay. I don't have to get it." She flops backwards and stares up at the sky for a bit.

"Hey, Miho-sensei? You think anyone would buy it if I told them I was a fox sage?"

This really was a surreal feeling that Mairusu was experiencing actually being able to feel what it was like to take in natural chakra at a rate that wouldn't turn him into a statue, and being able to not worry about that allowed him the opportunity to actually see the world around him in a new light. The sensation of being able to still know what was around him even with his eyes closed was a unique one, granted it was rudimentary at best and his memory of knowing Miho, her kids, and Miroru and her two foxes were there already played a big part but everything else in the park? It was almost like he was staring at it plain as day.

The snake's caution about not drawing in too much natural energy did not fall on deaf ears. Mairusu had experienced it, well, experienced someone else experiencing it and the rush of emotions that poor guy had in his final moments was a stark reminder that this path was as dangerous as it was exciting. "Yeah I've seen 'em. Kasumi showed me some a while back, even got to see the guy's last seconds while he was turning into one. Not fun." The boy replied as he continued to take steps forward. The grass beneath his feet, the trees and people around him were all radiating natural energy, tiny amounts of course, but all available for Mairusu to draw from and it was really a wonder how with such a large surplus pretty much everywhere how more people weren't able to tap into the sage arts.

"It ain't pretty...most people freak the first time it happens....most even quit..." Though it wasn't often when it happened as Mimiki claimed, it did give way to the dangers of using Sage arts and it was the worst case scenario. Those that managed to master it were indeed pillars of strength, but it didn't come easy and without hardship in some shape or form. As his eyes shifted toward Miho as he considered this, he'd simply return his attention to the boy as he remembered the the woman had chosen to stop, and it wasn't as if anything he said would change her mind in the least. Besides, he couldn't remember her being this happy in the time since they met. Perhaps it was indeed her having found peace... "That ain't you is it? A quitter? Cause if so...ya best stop now while ya still got the time..." "A fox sage?...Hmm...perhaps...I have heard that there are sages that come about at quite a young age and possess extraordinary skill..." They were few and far in between, but Miroru was certainly in such a category. It wouldn't be so shocking to hear that she might one day discover a means to take upon Natural Chakra at some point, it wasn't as if it were a secret. The key was just how to adapt it and to now overuse it. Though with what the girl had to contend with at the moment, perhaps it was best that she focus on that for now. "You do make a valid point though....such a chakra nature is indeed shocking at first, though perhaps the reasoning behind it's limited usage is due to the fact that it is capable of causing more harm to the balance of the world. Consider what you know of how we use chakra in our day to day lives...and then think of the consequence of becoming overly dependent on one that may in fact literally hold the life of our planet in balance..." In saying this, Miho's expression would grow more serious as she then looked toward Miroru with a calm expression. "It's much like how I explained to you the reason why I don't simply patch people up with quick chakra fixes...at times...we become so accustomed to the easiest of resources that we become overly dependent on them...to the point where they misuse it...it can be the same with chakra in it's universal distribution..." ".. wait, you... were there when someone turned into stone and died?" Miroru sat up, somber all of a sudden. "That's... dark, man. I dunno if I'd be up to practicing something with the potential to-"

Miroru cut off mid sentence and rolled over to look at the kids as if she'd been distracted. Better that than to try to finish the lie. She knew what it was like to train with a power that could and would kill you if mishandled.

She did that every day.

"Maybe I'll start cultivating that image, then. Get people to buy into the idea. Might make for some interesting opportunities in the future- even if I don't figure out the whole nature chakra thing myself!"

The redhead watched the little ones play for a while, then sat up once she felt like she'd distanced herself from her near slip-up enough. "Is it cool to ask what sorta stuff learning to master nature chakra can do for you? I've never really heard much about it, it's always been super generalized "ooh strong this" and "oh powerful that" and stuff."

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

TAKE ME TO VALHALLA WHERE MY BROTHERS WAIT FOR ME

Remembering that time, that feeling, wasn't a pleasant memory and truth be told Mairusu hadn't experienced anything like it before or since. The wave of helplessness and utter defeat that washed over the poor dude as he rapidly became encased in stone never to take another breath or feel the warmth of the sun again had broken the boy out in a cold sweat when he was with Kasumi and it was more than enough motivation to stick to his studies and do his best to never end up in that situation.

"Nope, that's not me at all. I know I'm young but this has been my dream since I first heard about Sages back in the academy, and now that I finally have the chance to train under one I'm not going anywhere." The genin replied, a small smirk crossing his features. Still, the boy knew this wasn't going to be a walk in the park by any means. He had never meditated this much in his life and what training he had done was some of the more intense stuff experienced, not to mention being paired with the... unique spirit that was Yaki. That girl was going to be the death of him, probably by her own hands or one of the many bombs she kept on her person, and it was just his luck that his teammate in all of this was her. Mairusu wondered a moment about the other girl that he had been paired with under Kasumi; she was older than him but seemed really nice, hopefully she was doing well.

Temperaments of teammates past and present not withstanding this was the hand Mairusu had been dealt and if this was part of what the genin had to endure to reach his goal then so be it.
