The crowds cheered as the fourth round fighters were introduced with much less ridiculous fanfare this time, the announcer simply unwilling to repeat the initial humoring of the pair setting him up for hilarity. He does pop on an intro song to hype up the crowd, leading to Miroru hitting the ramp down immediately after the jingly intro, apparently having taken a page out of Konsho's book, arriving flanked by a truly odd-looking fox!

Around six feet tall, Seiji cut an imposing presence behind the diminutive redhead, a clear and seasoned warrior at her side as she headed down the ramp to take her place at her end of the arena. She stood by, empty-handed, watching for her opponent to enter the ring.

Things kept getting more and awkward. First there was Shosuke, then Itsuki, and now another friend of Azarea's. She supposed it wasn't the worst thing, being paired against someone Azarea thought well of, but it felt... askew? To keep getting matched up with her friends. 

She was... pretty sure she'd still like Miroru if she had to hurt her friend.

Special Ability #4 - Kitsune Kohai (Enhanced Summon Access)

By integrating the Skulk into her everyday life and spending copious time with the kits of the contract, Miroru has not only endeared herself to the higher rank summons, granting her access to the summons a single rank beyond what she can ordinarily summon (B rank at Genin, A Rank at Chuunin, S rank at Sp. Jounin (provided the classification makes sense) and beyond.) Summoning beyond her rank imposes a rank tax, increasing the chakra cost by one step.

Konsho was still surprised he had made it this far, but was sure he could go home proud to at least make it to the finals. Here was where he could pass or fail, and regardless of how it went he could go home proud. Though if he lost he would probably have a few new Okadan beatings to remember. Still, total victory was not a guaranteed win. Tactics mattered above all else here. So Konsho had decided to ask a favor of his summons; to remain with and recuperate with him until after the next match. Kaen had refused but his brother and cousin figured it couldn't hurt. Honestly it was nice. He rarely got to have extended time with his family anymore. If he had the skills he probably would have summoned his dad.

Now came the next battle, and Konsho was facing off against a friend of a friend. Oh great more social issues. Cuz he was good with those. With a heavy sigh, Konsho would walk towards the entrance as his music began playing, a plan forming in his head.

Biting his thumb and preforming the hand seals, Konsho would begin to summon Kaen, the billowing smoke covering his entrance as he approached the group. Yet again he was flanked by the same summons as before, his cloak carried over his shoulder. Konsho knew Mioru only in short interactions, but those interactions still told him somethings about her. She seemed to have boundless energy, but was also more than willing to spend it. That was the key to his victory here. Drain her reserves. Considering no one had seen him fight with full chakra supply, and that Miroru had only seen the smoke and likely would have assumed Konsho had yet again summon three gorillas back to back rather than summoning one, she was likely going to expect the same amount of chakra. Best to play into that.

Emerging from the smoke, Konsho was admittedly amused by the sight. That was new. "Taking a page out of my book I see?" Konsho had a bonus idea, one he was certain wouldn't work, but it was worth a try. As he threw his coat with what was an out of character nonchalant confidence, Konsho would give an offer. "Hear me out; this is a test of tactics. But they never really gave us any details, so it's up to us to interpret what exactly we're supposed to be doing. Obviously they expect us to fight, but I'd argue that knowing when you can achieve your goal without fighting is just as much tactics as laying a trap."

It would take Daruma a second to realize what Konsho was doing, but once he did, he would tap the ground with his claws as he began to meditate. Kaen would be the next to pick up what was going on, already drawing her blade and readying herself to light it on fire as she looked towards the sword wielding fox. Finally a good test. Iwata would finally get the hint and move in front of Daruma. Meanwhile Konsho would continue with his proposition. "So, how about we both just walk away. Strength in battle is irrelevant if you only ever use it in a fight. Intellect, awareness, and creative thinking are what get the job done more than throwing the bigger attack. Besides... I'm certain someone would rather us not hurt each other."

Brother's Spirit
Daruma is among the summons that specializes in the use of natural chakra. He can do it rather quickly, and is passively aware of it as most summons are. Daruma mostly uses it to naturally enhance his strength and the power of his ninjutsu, and has yet to use any techniques that expressly call upon nature chakra.

Konsho has summoned only one summon, and hung out with his brother and cousin for a majority of the day before.

Konsho complimented her on the adaptation of his own strategy, grinning back at him and flashing a thumbs up. "Of course! It's only good tactics to take what works and make it your own! Why not let others make your mistakes for you? Take the fast lane to the right answers!"

Of course, she was no stranger to hard work, either- but no need to tell her opponent that until they were no longer competing!

Miroru seemed open to listening to what Konsho had to say, right up until she saw one of them settle down and go suspiciously still. It wasn't like the one with the glaive thingy, ready to act, or the other one, alert and standing guard- in front of the focused one. It was a little odd. It was-

"Well I mean, if you have some better ideas to help me gather natural chakra then I'm all ears. Otherwise..."

"Easy....sheesh....well....sides from staying still, theres a combative way of gathering it that the helps to gather it while on the move..."

OF COURSE.

The moment she realized Konsho was stalling, she flashed a handseal- just one- blindingly fast as she took a deep breath... and opened her mouth like a roaring dragon as she executed Gian and swept an extremely predictable, swinging bolt of electricity from one side of the arena to the other. In fact, compared to her other techniques, it was like she was GIVING him a chance to dodge. It wasn't hard- on the contrary, really- but it denied the quiet gorilla the chance to focus, and demanded he move- or that someone else take a devastating hit for him, judging by the massive furrow left by the lightning bolt! Another rapid handseal later, and three Miroru's paired up with Seiji, making the fight an even four vs four, presuming the others had all dodged!

"You think you're the only one that knows about meditation, my man?!" shouted the Miroru to the left.

"You're not dealing with some doofus meathead, here, I'm TRICKY MIKKI! I'm not gonna sit here and let your buddy scrape up chakra while you yammer on about walking away from this!" This time, from the right.

"You wanna call the fight, I'm happy to letcha, but don't play at peace talks while loading your guns! Either wave the white flag, or let's do this!"

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

Konsho wasn't sure if that was actually how Miroru felt, or if she was just mimicking as children often did. Still, a part of him felt a bit annoyed at the idea that Miroru would learn by letting others fail for her. It was didn't help that he was usually the one to fail. Although that could be a ruse. Not too dissimilar from his own.

As soon as they thought crossed his mind, Konsho and the others would move in. Jumping to the sides, Konsho on one and the apes on another, they'd each managed to miss the beam by a good margin. But the cracks in the stone they stood on told them plenty. This girl knew powerful techniques. Which likely meant they were costly. Konsho was right, making her angry was a good way to get her to expend her chakra. The sooner he got her to run out, the sooner he could end this.

She had even spent more chakra creating clones. He hadn't seen any elements go into them, so they had to be pure chakra. At first his instinct was to ignore them, but when each of them spoke, it was obvious she was using the shadow clone technique. She really must have been confident, to be chewing through her chakra pools that quickly. Still, what they said irked him. "Considering that's supposed to be a secret, yes. Your sage must be really bad at their job." Konsho would comment, before getting in low. "If you think coming to a peace talk without a weapon is something people do, you should really get out more. But for now... if you're so confident, then face the jungle's might!"

With that, Konsho would move towards the original, pulse quickening as his brother and cousin flanked him. Konsho knew there was a high chance Miroru was aware he had a certain pattern- which he would usually broke to strike at his opponent. So Konsho would play into that, right until the break. At that point, he and his brothers would move in tandem. As Iwata swung hard at a clone and Daruma clawed as the other, Konsho would abruptly stop to fling two kunai at the two clones as they moved away from the other attacks. If possible, Konsho wanted them on the other summon, preferring not to damage Miroru too much.

While this was all happening, Kaen would approach the blade using fox, firey sword and newly made armor gleaming and she sought to test her mettle- and test her metal- against her opponent. The blows would be forceful and fast, hoping to knock her opponent on his back.

It WAS how Miroru felt, though she was admittedly putting it forward in the worst light possible. She loved learning from others, and sincerely appreciated not needing to make dumb mistakes herself- but neither was she afraid to blaze her own path for things nobody had thought of before.

Learn from history's mistakes or doom yourself to repeat them, after all.

Miroru would have been giggling if she knew what Konsho had assumed. She hadn't attacked out of anger, she'd picked the most disruptive and easiest to avoid technique so as to force them out of position with the least chance of accidentally carving Konsho to pieces. The fact it was expensive was... a consideration.

But not as much as it would be for anyone besides her.

Did you miss on purpose? HIT him. He's NOTHING. You have INVENTED techniques strong enough to put him AND his menagerie in the dirt. Why are you playing at incompetence, child??

Because he's a friend. Of my sister. I'm not gonna win by tearing him to pieces. I mean I could, maybe. But that's not how I fight. Nobody here deserves our claws.

"Eh? A secret? Oh. Yeah, maybe they're not great at their job, I heard that from one of the apprentices. Is that really a secret? Is everyone supposed to like. Just. Not pay attention to that pointless and weird thing every sage does?" Miroru was truly baffled. Though- "OHHHHHH. Okay, nope, I get it now, that actually makes the rest of the conversation make sense." Miroru pinched her fingers and "zipped" her lips.

"The jungle's mi-BRO THE JUNGLE'S JUST A WET FOREST AND I'M FROM THE LEAF! YOU FACE THE JUNGLE'S MIGHT!!!"

Miroru didn't have to rely on pattern recognition. She had reflexes on her side, and that was something she kept in constant utilization. And there was a lot to react to! To incoming rillas, to Konsho staying back defensively, to him drawing two kunai-

"BLOCK!"

"HAI!"

Seiji and the center Miroru leapt forwards at the same time, their weapons flashing through the paths of the flying kunai, smacking them uselessly to the ground! The targeted Mirorus defending themselves, fending off the incoming attacks with their own weapons, both circling out and around, ungrouping the quartet and working to leave the gorillas between themselves and the central pair.

Seiji, of course, had his hands full with intercepting the kunai AND dealing with Kaen's incoming attacks. His hand flexed on the hilt of his blade, already resheathed after his deflecting strike, and he moved in an absolute blur to smack aside Kaen's first attack, clashing with her and holding her at bay, leaving only Konsho and the center Miroru not currently engaged in attacking some target or another! She moved to double-team Daruma, both Mirorus there working to defend each other and keep the pressure on the gorilla, while the other Miroru fought on her own against Iwata, the solo Miroru prioritizing defense over offense while the pair attacked aggressively, defending themselves by forcing Daruma to fall off the offensive if he didn't want to start absorbing unnecessary injuries!

The rambling about the nature of how senjutsu was supposed to be a secret reminded Konsho he was indeed- fighting a child. Man this was a weird feeling. Normally this would be... he didn't know the word for it but it was special mix of disgust, discomfort, and scummy behavior that made the gorilla part of Konsho's brain want to leave the fight as a whole and work on a distraction.

Fortunately, Konsho had come into this fight with the understanding this was a mission, and thus the practical Iwagakurian part of his brain won out. This was essentially a mission. Their goals were at odds until one of them fell. So Konsho would go in low, seeking to knock the young girl's legs out from under her, improvising more than he had in the past fights. But then came the part that truly pissed him off.

Konsho would proclaim as he slammed his foot down on hers, before moving to lock his arm around of hers, hoping to cut off attempts at ninjutsu. As this occurred, Daruma would use flames to keep the attention of the two clones targeting him, as Iwata charged from behind them, hoping to grab their attention as the excited ape would attempt to use his large hands to pin the two to the ground before adding more weight to dispel them. If the two were captured, Daruma would move behind Miroru, going to claw at the girl's back as Konsho would attempt to continue their grappling match. If the grapple had failed, Konsho would instead keep up his earlier rythm from earlier, starting at two hits per combo before moving very suddenly to four as he hoped to keep the girl occupied.

For Kaen the battle continued all the same, flaming sword seeking to test her mettle against the wizened fox. Her attacks would continue in a flurry, using her armor to glance any counters from the other summon. It was truly exhilarating, how her blows were knocked away by her opponent's blade. She'd go in from the side, before attempting to move around her opponent's guard as she lined up a good strike.

Miroru was focused on Konsho as he rushed in, with the rest of his entourage handled- or at least occupied with- her clones and Seiji. It was rotten luck he'd honed in on the real one, but she couldn't let on that was the case or it'd influence his combat strategies. At least right now, there was the POSSIBILITY she was just a clone. So she needed to keep him from landing a hit as long as-

She grit her teeth as she realized that the two apes had managed to get into her blindspot and drop her clones with heavy fists from behind. She was pretty sure there wasn't that much power behind those blows, but it didn't take hardly any to discorporate clones.

Konsho didn't give her any room to think, though, blazing into her space and leading with an attempt to trap her leg and arm! Miroru's quick reflexes and surprisingly in-depth Taijutsu training weaseled her out of it, though, as she swung her body to the side and back, fluidly evading the trapping blows, and responding to the triple strike with a blocking technique (), her reflexes and techniques barely keeping up with the far better trained Taijutsu talents of her opponent!

With the clones down, Daruma started towards Miroru, trying to use the same tactic that dropped her clones, but it was her blind spot- not Seiji's, and the fight was far less even than he was allowing Kaen to think. As he saw Daruma maneuvering, Seiji repositioned cleverly, setting Kaen up to try to exploit an apparent opening in his guard- only to execute a masterful Sabre Technique, slicing straight through her naginata and sending a rippling wave of bladed chakra out to carve through the ground where Daruma will be in a split second if he doesn't halt on the spot!

Konsho had to admit it was rare to have someone who could keep up with him. Sure on foot he wasn't the fastest, but he was able to react to change far faster than most ninja of his rank. The girl was certainly on the back foot, but she was certainly in better control than Konsho's last few opponents. Unfortunately for her, while she was proficient in taijutsu, Konsho was an expert. Her movements were predictable, and though she likely didn't notice yet, she was being guided towards the wall of the battleground they shared.

Then came her break, pushing Konsho's hand down as another blow followed. History repeated itself as she did so again, and Konsho made sure she saw the next one coming. As she began to push is blow towards the floor, Konsho's knees began to bend before launching his own body with her push. His punch would be moved away from her, but Konsho had the momentum of her attack to speed up his own spinning kick towards the top of her head. Konsho was certain she couldn't block the force behind this one, so either he'd get this hit off, or she'd dodge. He would then twist his body and ready himself to the girl's own counter attack, certain one was coming.

Daruma would have to kick off the ground, jumping back away from the slash of Seiji, looking over at his cousin to see a broken blade in her hand. Kaen's shock and fear was subtle, but not invisible. Her blade was now completely gone. It was clear she couldn't do this on her own. Thankfully she didn't have to, as Iwata had decided since the clones were now gone, he was free to charge into the fox whom had attacked his cousin's personal blade.

Iwata would come in, arms coated in fire as he began to hammer at his opponent. As he did, Kaen would recover as she let out a spout of flame, hoping to cut off Seiji's method of escape with Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique. Daruma meanwhile, would move towards the opposite side of the flames, coating his own hands in fire as he aimed his Carving Talon at Seiji's wrists, limiting his angle of attack.

Miroru was, in fact, outclassed, and the more Konsho got used to her practiced, but elementary, taijutsu techniques, the gap she was maintaining started to close. She was doing her best to hold him off without resorting to more complex techniques out of a desire to make sure Azarea's friend got to show his stuff, but he was extremely aggressive- the only people that had ever left her feeling even close to this pressed were Kazuto and Shigure.

Granted, she'd had an unfair edge, but even then, she'd never had someone in her own class leave her this pressed!

Konsho went with her blocks and rotated into a spinning kick that she simply didn't have the time to block or dodge! Forced to resort to her more complex techniques, Miroru dissolved into what everyone else would see as a blur of lightning, but Konsho- and the other Taijutsu and Bukijutsu specialists- would recognize as her Raiton chakra coloring a high-speed, advanced Taijutsu acceleration technique. She came very, VERY close to taking the full brunt of the kick, fizzing back out of range at the very last instant and flikering back into range to throw a peppered flurry of staff blows at Konsho as she did, using Raiippo's acceleration to try to overwhelm his defenses before he threw her onto the back foot again!

Meanwhile, Seiji found himself with all three summons circling to come at him, leaving him no choice but to maneuver to a better position. As the flame spewed alongside him, he bolted towards the others, hand on his hilt as he scampered at a truly startling pace, further exposing the true strength of Miroru's summon as he bolted through the gap between the closing gorilla's, forced out of position and onto the defensive by the group attack, driving him to utilize Kumo-Ryu Uragiri to sweep a strike back towards them and ward them off, working to buy himself time to position and strike at them from a defensible position!

Konsho wasn't exactly sure what this girl's focal point was. She was clearly good at both taijjutsu and ninjutsu, but now she was showing skill with weaponry too. More over she didn't seem more skilled in one over any of the others. Perhaps she dabbled in a bit of everything as Konsho once had. But... such a tactic could leave one spread to thin. Konsho would quickly accelerate to his max speed, moving in tune with the girl's own movements. On the last thrust, Konsho would preform two techniques, first grabbing the staff to both pull it past him and her closer, while also raising his leg to kick her as she was pulled forward. As the two genin continued their fight, the summons would try to overcome their own obstacles. They clearly were dealing with a summon above their class, and the fact that this girl could summon it at all was nothing short of amazing. However, focusing on any battle other than the one they were involved in would mean death. So now it was time to do what they all had learned on one hunt or another; how to defend when you become prey. Kaen would move to intercept any and all blows from Seiji, using both her armor and her larger size to stop- or take- the attacks the others couldn't. All the while, Daruma and Iwata would continue to coat their arms and hands in fire. Iwata would aim high, trying to strike the summon's torso, whilst Daruma would always move to rend at his joints. Alone any of them would loose against such a superior predator. Together however, they stood a chance at turning the tables.

Konsho had her pegged- for the most part. Miroru had specialties, he simply hadn't caught onto them yet.

The gorillas, however, were rapidly discovering one of them.

Seiji was an extremely talented swordfighter, and without the benefit of reach, it was proving extremely difficult to close enough to properly wound the samurai. Attempts to close in were met with lightning fast slashes that left no option but to retreat, for to take the blows head on meant defeat. Kaen had the best chances, and interposed herself more than once as the others got overzealous and tested their luck, but her armor was showing gouges and the blows were still powerful enough to bruise beneath the metal plates.

For Seiji's part, he had been holding back a touch. Not on the defensive side- they'd fairly forced him into a primarily defensive mindset by their coordinated aggression- but offensively. He could, if needed, unleash his blade's fury and truly end the fight with more of the slashes that had undone Kaen's naginata, but he understood the pride of these summons. The strongest allies that Konsho could bring to bear, the companions trusted to see him through. To dominate them, even if he found the opening to do so, would be to diminish them all in the eyes of the proctors, and perhaps in the eyes of Konsho himself. Unlikely- but Seiji couldn't be sure.

Meanwhile, facing Miroru, Konsho's techniques finally won him a solid edge as he planted his foot on Miroru's chest and hurled her backwards away from himself and her weapon. She managed to twist to land on her palms and knees, skidding as she coughed, fighting back to her feet in a heartbeat, winded but still well in the fight. As she did, Konsho caught a glimpse from an angle the gorillas were denied. They'd been maneuvered all onto the same side of Seiji by some clever retreating dashes, and he'd twisted his body as if to perform another Iaijutsu technique- but Konsho could see the blade abruptly shine with power as chakra filled it, beginning the Sabre Technique- with all of his summons rushing in to close the gap.

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

As Konsho knocked Miroru away, he'd quickly twirl the bo staff in his hand, acclimating himself to it's weight distribution. He had planned to move onto Miroru and seize the advantage now. But much like his own strategy, the addition of summons meant removing the summoner wasn't enough. From what he had caught in the corner of his vision, this fox was on a skill level above even him and his summons. He was a target of priority.

So, twirling the bo staff in his hand, chakra flowing through again as he closed in on his target, Konsho decided to rejoin the hunt. He knew his family members enough to know how this would go if he didn't intervene. Once he was close to Seiji's side, Konsho would slam at the end of the creature's blade as he infused the bo staff with his own chakra to ensure it survived their clash. Knowing he could not with stand a weapon lock with his opponent's summon, Konsho would use the weapon for what a bo staff was designed to do. Unleashing a flurry of rapid blows, the boy would almost barely notice the trail of smoke now coming from the weapon. Though unintentional, this factor helped the true goal of this bought. Not to win, but to distract to let the death blow be dealt.

Kaen was just as skilled at taijutsu as she was kenjutsu, her fire nature only used to augment the two. So as she and her distant cousins closed the gap between themselves and the large fox, they all knew exactly how to move. Each one's pass would move in tandem with their summoner's unintended wheeling smoke screens. By the end each would have the summon caught on one direction as the three apes would throw their most powerful attacks at the summon, bodies either alight with fire or enhanced with the steel of their own armor. Iwata went for the left side of his mid section with his flame coated double hammer, Daruma went from his lower back with burning carving talons, and Kaen's own double handed blow would go to the right side of her foe's head. Konsho's own movements, using the bo staff to deny the fox movement forward while also coating it in his own fire to ensure there was no gap for the summon to exploit. This was it.

But Konsho wasn't foolish enough to remove the summoner from the equation. As he kept up the barrage, chakra would fill his body as he prepared something he had planned the last exam, but never gotten the chance to use. No matter how this went, he'd have the advantage.

It took Miroru a moment to grit through the pain of the kick. Who kicked people in the chest?! She didn't go around kicking dudes between the legs. That'd seriously stung. All the same, even as she braced herself to handle him coming back at her with her own staff- something she wasn't particularly concerned about, she doubted he had her skill with it- he turned and bolted towards his summons and hers, leaving her shocked for a split second.

This was bad. Seiji was handling the summons well enough, but adding in Konsho meant sealing off any chance of a realistic retreat, and enough interference he might not be able to complete a Sabre Technique. Sure enough, Konsho smashed the blade out of position and disrupted the chakra.

What was the play here?

You know what the play is, child.

Miroru's face scrunched angrily. That wasn't strange, the situation was rough, it was reasonable she'd be unsettled. But the source of the frustration wasn't what it appeared to be.

Seiji caught her eye briefly between clashes and blocks. An almost imperceptible nod. He understood the situation, and fought only to restrain the focus of their opponents. He couldn't hold all four off long.

He didn't need to.

Miroru's expression hardened grimly, and she nodded to him, just once- and flashed two handseals in the space of an instant. Her seal speed was really remarkable, and with so few seals, there was almost no time to perceive and react to the jutsu's activation. Its effects, however, were a different story.

For a split second, Miroru's chakra became fully VISIBLE- and AUDIBLE. A ravenous screeching crackle seething around one of her hands for the briefest of moments. The howl of the technique was a warning that would come far too late for most in her crosshairs. Konsho, however, was keeping an eye on her, and would catch her expression. Tight, focused, straining to keep the sheer condensed chakra under control. By the time she had his attention, she'd already shifted from her handseals to moving her hands near her core, elbows to either side- and as Seiji clicked his sword back into its sheath with a satisfied look on his face as the quartet descended on him, both hands thrust forwards, shoved that screaming, chittering mass of Raiton forwards-

-and turned the space in her direction into a wicked-fast wall of hissing needles.

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

Konsho heard the strangest series of sounds as the counter attack he knew was coming began. First the sound of... something swirling in the area, then a crackle almost like that of static electricity. The movement would be predictable if it was the technique from earlier, but all suspicions were confounded by the next sound; a swarm of birds. Birds? That wasn't part of her arsenal. On the side of his vision he could see this strange technique unfold. Chakra- chakra he could see! Then lightning, uncontrolled and chaotic. Finally, a wall of lightning thorns.

Behind it all, Konsho could see Miroru's face. The expression told him everything he needed. It was a costly technique. A hard to control one. He had her up against a wall- at this point quite literally- and she was finally running low on steam. So despite seemingly being caught in a trap, the blue haired-red eyed man would smile.

The next few moments would be simultaneously explosive and eye catching- yet have little actual detail to them. The arena would fill with smoke, clouds created by four summoned allies being dispelled. Unknown to the crowd or his own opponent, another technique was contributing to the smoke cloud. The smoke would billow over itself, and two shuriken were wrapped in wire, then stored back in his pockets. It would collapse, rolling to the ground, and the tags were hidden in his lowered visor. The smoke would pull back, and the kunai had tags attached. The smoke finally began to disperse, showing a shredded cloak, followed by the sound of a wooden staff landing outside of the arena.

Substitution jutsu. Konsho would begin the bought by creating yet another smoke screen, smoke pellets filling his area of the arena. From within the cloud Konsho then threw two kunai in Miroru's direction, but before those would ever hit their target, they flash tags would fill the area in front of the girl with a bright light, the smoke screen functioning as Konsho's own shield against it. Rushing out, the blue haired genin would charge towards Miroru, pulling two shuriken out to throw around her, wire still in his hand as he approached. Once he got close, he'd pull the wire taught in an attempt to bind her. He knew wasn't skilled enough in weaponry to do real damage, so instead he'd use it to set up the real attack.

Now in close, Konsho would pull the strings towards him with his left hand, following up with a kick towards Miroru's stomach- hoping to send her away again. Leaving one hand free, Konsho would click the bind on the back of his visor, allowing it to come loose from his neck, before launching it towards where he predicted Miroru would land. Three lit explosive tags right on top of each other. If it hit, it would hopefully end the fight. If it didn't, it would at least prove enough of a distraction to close the gap again. Panting as he awaited the result, Konsho was certain his plan was working. This fight was ending soon.

There was no cry of pain. No wail of defeat. No sound at all. Just smoke and wind.

It wasn't over.

Miroru didn't waste any time waiting to see if the attack had finished him off. She flashed four handsigns as Konsho hurled down his own smoke screen, completing the jutsu as smoke exploded in this new corner of the arena.

Konsho's assault started before the smoke even cleared. Kunai with flash tags hurled at Miroru's last known position. Those went off and bathed the arena with light and sound. Konsho rushed out with shuriken ready, looking at where she should be-

Nothing.

No smoke, no Miroru, no replacement object falling to the ground.

Nothing.

As the smoke billowed upwards, Miroru True Transformation'd into a tiny swift, an extremely fast and tiny bird. The smoke was at a distance, which meant the threat was coming to her, and she didn't intend to be where she had been standing when it arrived. She flew, straight towards the smoke, at a gentle upwards angle, making it past the kunai before the flash tags went off, if just barely, leaving her facing the wrong direction to be blinded. Then she tucked her wings and let herself sail, silently, right over Konsho's head as he burst out of the smoke, dropping gracelessly down for a landing as he- likely- skidded to a stop with his shuriken in hand, hiding her own much shorter-lived Transformation puff in the fading smokescreen he himself had used, starting a long series of hastily performed handseals.

One way or the other, Konsho was sure to find himself facing back where he'd come from within a few instants- either from realizing where she had to have gone... or at the now-familiar sound of thousands of chittering birds shrieking in the corner he'd just left. He still had the wired shuriken, and the visor packed with paper bombs he'd not yet had a reason to light, all of it still at his disposal.

He wasn't the only one panting. Miroru did her best to hide it, but the best she could do was to force smooth, deep breaths with absolutely no rest between. It was a touch more subtle, but it wasn't fooling anyone.

This time, Miroru was strangling her wrist in a deathgrip, the intense collection of chakra locked in place around her hand and shrieking its chirping wrath hundreds of times a second.

Don't do it.

He's still fighting. You're LOSING.

She held her position, staring down Konsho. Her eyes gleamed like cat's eyes at night, or a dog's. It was all she could do to give him a chance. A choice. But if he did anything but give up. Anything else.
