Realistically, Nari knew that this was a competition to determine whether or not the participants were ready to advance in the military, but he had hoped that something fun would have come from the matches he had been forced into. But so far, every single one had been...less than fun.

But now he was facing down someone from his hometown. That had to be a good thing, right? Nari wasn’t close with Saga, so he didn’t know much about him, but he knew the kid from around the village. So he was holding out hope that this fight would be at least a little more entertaining than the last three had been.

He jogged to his position, holding Hisuiyuri in his hands as he crouched down and up, warming his muscles up for the upcoming bout. Saga used fire a lot, which he knew from school was strong against his affinity, wind. Which would be a problem, but thankfully, Nari didn't have too many futon techs at his disposal. Most of his repertoire was up close and physical.

So, he would probably be playing a dodging game again. He could do that, he was good at evasion.

Swinging Hisuiyuri into a ready stance, Nari gave Saga a cheerful smile. "Good luck, Hijikata-kun," he called out to the other boy. Awaiting the starting signal, three jades started shimmering with futon energy at Hisuiyuri’s base, ready to shoot forward as soon as Nari released them. "Hope we have a fun match!"

• Hisuiyuri[break]
  『Life Blade Chakra』As all Life Blades, Hisuiyuri absorbs Nari's chakra continuously as he carries it around, stacking up a decent amount of chakra inside of itself equal to half its wielder's chakra pool. The chakra becomes Hisuiyuri's and cannot be accessed by anyone other than the spear, allowing it to have the ability to self-repair small nicks and scratches it may obtain during combat.

  It also allows Hisuiyuri to have its own built-in security in case someone other than Nari grabs onto it. Using its futon chakra, sharp blades of wind will strike at the stranger's hands and arms until they release the spear. These gouges are minor cuts but they do sting quite a bit if they manage to hit skin.

  When entering combat, Hisuiyuri will use its own stores to fuel its abilities until it runs out and then will begin taking from Narihira. Thanks to his deeper-than-average chakra pools the wielder and weapon are able to go for a decent length of time-fighting in that state, but eventually, it will cause Nari to lose consciousness if the spear takes too much chakra.[break][break]
  『Flying Jades』Using its natural affinity to fūton, Hisuiyuri is able to detach the six small jade points that line the sides of its spearhead and allow them to hover. By sacrificing the shredding ability the points usually grant the spear, Narihira is able to fire them off either one-by-one or all at once towards his opponents.

  At it's current skill level, Hisuiyuri's points move at a speed slightly quicker than a regular thrown kunai, due to being powered by fūton chakra and Narihira's able to control the path the points take up to 30m.

  Narihira coats Hisuiyuri's Jade Daggers in fūton-infused chakra greatly increasing their cutting power and speed. The daggers are now capable of seamlessly cutting deep gouges into rock and iron and move much quicker, easily outpacing shinobi that haven't trained in physical specialties such as taijutsu and bukijutsu.

  A young member of the scattered Araikettei Clan, Narihira has the ability to wield the strange and powerful Life Blades. He created his own Blade at a young age, under the tutelage of his mother, however, instead of making a sword as was common for the Clan members, Narihira designed his in the shape of a polearm.

  Giving it the name Hisuiyuri, he began learning to properly wield it from the moment he could hold it. Due to the connection the blade shares with him, should it ever be broken, both Narihora and the blade's soul would die, so he keeps it on his person at all times and cares for it meticulously.
• 『Deep Chakra Pool』[break]
  Narihira was lucky to be born with a deeper-than-average chakra pool. It allows him to fight and use jutsu for longer periods of time before he tires, compared to those with average-sized chakra pools. It's especially useful for him, due to the fact that his Life Blade is constantly absorbing chakra from him. But thanks to the depth of his stores, he never feels the strain from that drain unless he has depleted the polearm's stores in combat.

Saga didn’t respond to Nari’s greeting, which was fine. Really. The wish for a good match was probably getting a little stale, considering this was the third set of the third round. Saga was probably just really focused.

The match was signaled to begin and Nari ran forwards forming a single hand sign and felt the friction disappear and his speed increase. He sent two of the jades ahead of him, at blinding speeds, aiming to slice into Saga’s obliques, a tried and true method of distracting.

As soon as he got close enough, Nari would flip Hisuiyuri around and plant the butt of the spear into the ground, using it as a fulcrum to launch himself forwards, with even more speed to try and land a flying kick into Saga, hoping to knock him prone.

If the kick failed, Nari would land and plant the spear again and launch himself back into the air where he would flip around and aim a falling strike directly towards the other boy, where he would then lash out with a sweep once he landed, hoping to knock Saga off his feet and get the boy prone.

If he succeeded, Nari would flip back, using Saga as a step, landing and immediately begin running forward again to swing the spear around again and aim to slam the butt right into the other boy’s gut - knocking the air out of his lungs and making him unable to react. He would then spin Hisuiyuri once more, and aim the tip of the blade at the hollow of Saga’s throat, standing back enough to avoid any swipes at his legs, until the boy surrendered.

• Nari uses Wind Walk to boost his speed.
• Sends out 2 Jades with Leaves on the Wind, increasing their speed, to strike at Saga's sides.
• Nari launches himself with Leaping Drake, to knock Saga prone
• if kick works, he'll aim a strike at Saga's gut to knock air out of his lungs and make him surrender.
• if kick fails, Nari will try and launch into the air with a Dragon Dive and a sweep, to slice and knock Saga prone.

• Fūton: Kaze Sanpo [Wind Release: Wind Walk][break]
  This technique allows the user to create a wind like base under their feet, reducing friction and enhancing the user's speed. The user doesn't seem to be levitating unless under close inspection which they seem to be about 1.5 - 2cm off the ground. Apart from enhancing speed, this technique gives the user the ability to walk on water and evade projectile attacks with ease.
• Chōyaku [Leaping Drake][break]
  A technique meant for closing the gap, the user will charge forward before jamming one end of their polearm into the ground. They will then push off of the staff to gain some forward momentum, launching themselves a couple of meters into the air before delivering a flying kick aimed at their opponent. This strike propels the user forward incredibly quickly, and can also be used to push themselves up and over obstacles or enemy attacks.
• POSSIBLY: Ryū Tobikomu [Dragon Dive][break]
  The user will vault themselves into the air using their polearm and then unleash a powerful blow from above. This technique is used to disorient and surprise foes as well as overpower them as it strikes with all of the user’s body weight and momentum from the spin they perform in the air in order to strike with the spear that was touching the ground moments before.
