Raika herself needed to do some pretty serious physical Taijutsu training of her own, so an agreement to do some of that training with an Uchiha of all combatants was something she absolutely couldn't pass on. With the two strongest doujutsu of the Hidden Leaf working together, they'd likely overpower their competition, and their skillsets were somewhat similar without much overlap, allowing them to effectively take different roles in combat. As it is, Raika was certainly eager to show off a bit of what she could do, which she hadn't had the chance to do much since her return from Kawa and her subsequent assignment to Team 1; with her effectively failed mission to improve relations between Konoha and Kawa, it almost felt a bit like a punishment to simply be placed in a Genin Team, but she'd also not really proven herself capable of all the skills and effective combat experience shown by Chuunin, so she couldn't argue that the choice didn't make sense.
She watches as Kai prepares his weapon for this nonlethal training, and is glad to see that he's also wearing armor, meaning she won't need to completely hold back on her strikes and make the spar almost useless for training. Raika herself has decided to actually wear her armored vest; even with the glaive covered so that it wouldn't cause serious damage, she didn't want to be completely covered in bruises. Even so, she also kept her Hung Gar rings around her wrists. She actually gives him a bit of a smile at his statement that she wouldn't have to worry about going all out, and that she shouldn't kill him. In response to his eyes changing, Raika's own irises turn a pure white, with just a hint of the previous lavender color barely peeking through, and the veins at her temples showing the massively increased bloodflow from the activation of her own doujtusu.
"To be fair, Kai Uchiha, I'm not sure I could kill you even if I tried to. Not that I will."
Not really being the type to hold back or try for an indirect approach right away, Raika closes the distance to Kai at a rapid pace, running at first, and throwing a feint punch with her left hand at his face. But, with a shift from a push on her left foot, rotating to put all her weight on her right foot, she steps aside, twisting her hips rightwards and using her shoulder, arm, hip, and torso muscles to aim an uppercutting body shot at Kai's left side, about a foot and a half directly below his armpit to try and land a heavy blow just underneath where his ribcage ends. Should the strike hit, he'd likely bruise even through the padded armor he was wearing, more thanks to the Hung Gar rings wrapped around each of her wrists, to be honest, than just from her own physical strength. Even during her attack, her focus is more concentrated on Kai's own response than on her own attack.
