Description:
A country of many stone monuments both natural mountain formations, as well as the main made carvings of stone buildings. There's an abundance of past and present mines with in many of these mountains, as well as mapped existing and abandoned man made tunnels. An occasional crack added each year which could hold a dark and deep cavern. Due to these being great shelters and homes for beasts, criminals and other vagrants, it's been tasked by the Tsuchikage to search out each regularly to keep the security of the nation stone tight.

It seemed as though Goro was earning more and more permissions as a Genin, and that trust meant he was allowed on more and more missions. What started as easy D-Rank missions just putting up posters or helping with construction here and there had slowly turned into ones with potential danger such as fighting other shinobi (albeit in spars) and now searching mines and ensuring they were clear of beasts, vermin, and stowaways. It wasn’t quite what he would have liked, but it was still better than sweeping the streets and saving some random cat.

Granted, he found that he would be pairing with another shinobi, though he wasn’t quite sure who it would be outside of the fact that they belonged to the Himishi clan. The details were kept otherwise vague, likely due to a limitation of time placed on its submission. That didn’t bother Goro. He didn’t mind subbing in at the last moment to get something done. After all, something was better than nothing in his eyes. Training was training and missions were missions. He wanted to soak up every ounce of experience he could.

The village gates stood tall before him. It seemed as though he had been the first to arrive. Eager and ready, as always.

Uta was happy to finally be cleared for field duty again, even if they were seemingly being extra precocious with her. No doubt something to do with a request from her parents. Uta wondered if they even knew about the chunnin exam incident. Did their daughter getting covered in scars change their desire to see her married off at 18? It was something Uta contemplated to herself as she sauntered to the village gates to meet her makeshift team for today's assignment.     She knew that Goro was going to be here, and while Uta couldn't say she knew the young boy well, she woud appreciate having an Okada with her. The other was Yoshiko. Certainy someone Uta knew of, though she couldn't particularly recall a time the two had spoken to one another. Rather, a big important person like Yoshiko was simply always going to be known by the genin.      Approaching the gate she would spot the young shinobi she'd be partnering with today, and would give a small bow as she entered the space.      "Greetings Goro," Uta gave a small smile, "I guess we're still waiting on Yoshiko? Are you excited for the mission today? Could be a good opportunity for us."

[Nohime Yoshiko]

Yoshiko had been asked to take this mission seriously. It wasn't like she could think of a task she took unprofessionally, but she understood to a degree the stakes at hand. They're to be going outside of the villages general watch and care, there was that slim chance something awful popped up. Uta and Goro needed mission practice though and Iwagakure needed to assure one's safety.

Despite this the words of worry came to the Nohime like paranoia, especially with all the villages recent national measures to increase the lands safety. Alas she couldn't help feeling a sensation of ease and relaxation, as she'd head towards the gates of her village. She was a sensor shinobi and a jounin, these were her lands that she loved. Nothing could happen she wasn't confident she'd be overqualified to handle.

Perhaps the sense of ease and lack of tension was why she'd be last to the team-up. It wasn't a problem to the jounin though, it actually gave her quite the sense of pride in her allies. "Awa Uta and Okada Goro, it's a beautiful day for a mission wouldn't you say?" Yoshiko would exclaim a smile bright on her face, as she'd cross her arms behind her back. She'd seem to show not a care in the world, as her gaze slightly meandered past the genin and onto the horizon.

She always longed to be in the air, but she couldn't let desire override discipline. Inhaling the new day with a deep breath, she'd channel her focus on the genin. After all it was a challenge for them, she'd certainly find whatever task easy enough. They however could be up against new odds and she shouldn't let them miss out on the opportunity.

[attr="class","goropost"]A familiar silhouette began to approach Goro, though she was much different from what the young Okadan boy had remembered. Flawless skin that once shone in the sun of Iwagakure had been scarred from a burn received in her Chuunin exams. Goro’s face showed no pity, but his heart sank slightly. It looked as though it had hurt, but occurrences like this–he knew–were simply part of a shinobi’s world–or kunoichi in Uta’s case. He did not allow his eyes to stare, he forced them to meet the purples of her own. They still seemed as bright as before.

Uta was small for her age. He would guess she was around fourteen given her overall demeanor and from what little he had gathered, and yet she stood at maybe 4’10”. No. 4’9” without the shoes. Despite her stature, she looked strong. Goro saw the small bow and smile and there was a meekness about it.

"Uta, good ta see ya again” he returned the bow in a similar fashion. His eyes then wandered slightly, "Nah, looks like she’s walkin’ up now, actually.” He’d point behind Uta where a woman who he could only assume was Yoshiko was approaching. He’d never personally met Yoshiko, but she was the Jounin Hanchou, and he knew enough to be able to pick her from a small crowd if need be. There weren’t many kunoichi with her level of excellence. She was, truly, a once-in-a-lifetime asset for any village to hope for.

Her hair was ever flowing, and her almond eyes reflected the smile she carried. An air of warmth and modesty traveled with her. Goro provided another bow, this one slightly deeper than the last. She was his senior, after all. "Absolutely!” he said with a pumped fist, "I dunno ‘bout you guys, but I’m excited!”

Uta's initial question to Goro had been answered rather quickly, and the girl would turn to present herself with the lauded Nohime the two were to team with today. Yoshiko was gorgeous, and effortlessly elegant. She reminded Uta of the debutantes who's parties the girl was a regular guest of. In many situations, memories of that time left the girl feeling rather empty. However, Yoshiko's legend as a shinobi proceeded her, and the dichotomy of the strength she knew was inside this elegant was inspiring to Uta in a way.     She would give a deep bow to the Jounin, and wouldn't look up as she stated, "Yes Ma'am," only then did she begin to rise.      "My name is Awa Tsuwa no Tsuba Ketsu-Gojo Shi-Kairi Obo no Obo Onigawa no Anawa Anawa-Gawa Oto-Oto Baisu-Ryu Gozai no Gure Suzuki no Bo Gon-Kiryu Majima-Bo Bo no Saejima Ban no Shiryu Sho-Yoh Roppongi no Tetsutetsu Tetsu no Ryusuke Kura-Kumo Hirohito-Hiroshi So-Kuni no Gasai Suzuki-Maki Ora-Ora Madoka-Ora Sai-Goto Goto no Ora Ora-Manoba Uta. Most people just call me Uta, though."      She beamed a bright smile. Despite everything that had happened in recent memory, she wouldn't let her injuries hamper her spirits. This was an opportunity to get better, to ensure that next time she went to the Chuunin Exams she'd be ready to defend herself.      "I'm very excited to be working with you today. It'll be my first real mission since the injury."

[Nohime Yoshiko]

These two genin seemed like incredibly polite and well behaved ninja. They both shared in her sentiment of it being a beautiful day and had a sense of excitement towards doing this mission. The Nohime couldn't blame them, she fully related to them both. The drive of youth saying anything and everything is possible. As well as the flames of defeat casting one to want to eagerly recover and overcome one's failures.

"Awesome, I'll make sure it's a good step back into things. I know what it's like to recover from bad burns, once we're done I've got some recipes for the perfect homemade ointments you'll love." Yoshiko would state more so to Uta, as she'd situationally be the more necessary of concern. A recovering injury even once healed would still send shivers and other sensations that simply were counter intuitive to the mission. She knew pretty well the injuries one received out of distraction from others.

"This'll be a great mission to get back into things. There's a chance of anything to go wrong, but most likely we'll just be doing simple surveying. I've seen it all from bandits, bears to simple vagrants or dead ends. No actual reports of suspicious behavior, though our Tsuchikage wants us to approach these caves as us though they could harbor missing-nin." Yoshiko would explain the objective, as she'd try to both be informative and get the two mentally prepared.

She'd give these words in motion, as she'd give a gesture to start moving too. They'd have a lot of walking to cover from the village gates, so she figured they might as well start moving.

[attr="class","goropost"]Goro’s jaw dropped a bit as Uta mentioned her name…again. He remembered her spouting it out in the second round of the Chuunin exams, but he’d truly forgotten just how long it was. His eyes were furrowed with worry, "Literally no one could ever remember that, Uta…” Yoshiko seemed mostly unaffected by the genin girl’s excessively long name. Either they had met before and Uta felt the need to reiterate the name, or Yoshiko had run into it while filing paperwork at some point. Goro couldn’t imagine having to write that name on a paper for his schoolwork all of those years in the academy. He grimaced at the idea.

It seemed as though their conversation would continue on the road as Yoshiko gave them a rundown of the mission objectives while they moved out of the village gates. Goro made sure to listen carefully, but anyone around would be able to note the excitement in his face slowly turning to quite serious. He knew when and where to leave his ten-year-old smooth brain behind. The village was a safe zone, but anything could happen as soon as you stepped food outside of its protective gates. He had been taught that much, and knew better than to slack off or play around on a mission. This was his chance to show just how capable he could be, and he wasn’t going to mess that up.

The young Okadan boy would nod to confirm he understood his temporary squad leader’s instructions, following closely behind and to the left, matching pace despite his short legs requiring a bit more effort than the other two in this make-shift team.

Once Yoshiko was done explaining the mission in detail, he would wait for a pause in the conversation. "So….uhhh what kinda fighter are ya anyways? Uta too. I don’t know nothin’ about you twos.”

"I mean, I remember my name," Uta's statement didn't seem to come with any snark or condescension, she was responding in a simple matter of fact. She remembered her name, so she couldn't imagine it being that hard for others. Listening to Yoshiko's advice about ointment the girl would smile and nod. She had been using some ointment her maid had procured from the old city, but something told Uta that Shinobi would have more effective remedies at their dispenses. The hospitals here in the village were some of the best in the world after all.     Uta would follow along as the group left the village, and she'd listen intently to the directions of the mission at hand. She wasn't going to be a burden, not anymore. Her expression was still soft, bright, but it didn't entirely mask the intensity with which she desired to prove herself.     "I mostly operate in Barrier ninjutsu. Though the hope is to get even better at that. I have my bubbles too, but they have a lot of room for improvement, and hopefully I can make my Bubbles into Barriers. I think Suiton Barriers might be stronger than generic ones."     Uta was prepared to keep rambling about her jutsu, and her ideas for improving it in future, but a simple fact became lodged in her brain.       "Though," for the first time since arriving her smile would drop for a moment, a look of pure worry spreading across her face, "People say I fight a lot different when I get mad or scared."

"I'm sure if I said it ten times, I'd have it down, but Uta would be easier, hehe~" Yoshiko would state actually mulling over the idea of memorizing the full name of this genin. She'd honestly probably do it later that night, if she didn't attempt to do it on the mission. However she didn't bring a file with the girls name, so she'd probably mess up just trying to remember it.

"Barriers could be quite useful for this mission honestly, allow us a moment to assess could be situations. As a ninjutsu master, I'd definitely agree that Suiton would help. An element always adds inherent strengths that chakra can only match with more and more drain." Yoshiko didn't exactly want to comment on the mention of acting different. She'd heard about the split personality through the girls file and performance at the exam. It wasn't too worrying though, she doubted they'd need to be so brutal.

Yoshiko wasn't exactly sure how to answer the question herself, she didn't exactly want to commit herself to a field. She was the Jounin Hanchou after all. If it was a thing, then she needed some level of skill or knowledge in it? She had already claimed to be a ninjutsu specialist. So she'd simply be honest. "I'm especially good in ninjutsu, but in such away I can use it to fill the gaps of other specializations. I'm also a sensor, so I'll know if real troubles ahead before it's even close."

Leading the way Yoshiko would treat the group to the easiest path to their destination. They'd walk in a manner that was almost snaking around each mountain, but that'd avoid the jagged rocks and so long as they were together most animals would simply leave them be. The fact they were looking to explore a relatively undiscovered hole in the ground, it was clear their path wasn't defined. So the Nohime was clearly working of just a general understanding of the landscape, she'd flown over it a million times at this point.

[attr="class","goropost"]The mischievous part of Goro was tempted to try and make Uta mad, but he quickly thought better of it as they were on a mission. The young boy admittedly made a mental note to try to do so at a later time, when the stakes were low like during training in the village. Goro couldn’t really imagine it. He was always a serious fighter, so changing when he was mad or scared didn’t seem like a real possibility for his own fighting style. To see it in another, now that would be interesting.

Bubbles? Goro cocked his head. It sounded both fun and unrealistic at the same time. Could bubbles really help that much when it came to offense or defense? They always seemed pretty harmless to him. There had to be more to it, something he definitely looked forward to seeing.

It seemed as though his teammates during this mission each held a very unique set of skills. Goro had never met a sensor shinobi, but the thought of having her here made him feel a tad safer–not that he would ever admit to feeling nervous.

The Okadan boy would nod, gesturing that he listened and understood what to expect from their fighting styles. "I pretty much only use taijutsu. So, I guess that’ll make me da front line, huh?” He smiled brightly with a small chuckle.

He stayed close to Yoshiko who seemed to have more understanding of the environment than he did. Goro had not been out this way, obviously, and he would have been very lost on his own. He wondered if Uta had the same level of experience, or if her age had helped further define that.

Uta hoped along the path, following Yoshiko along rather closely. There certainly was an age difference between Uta and her fellow genin partner here, but in a real sense he likely had more experience in this area than she did. She had spent her childhood deep in the walls of a city, exploring out in nature was far out of her normal wheel house.      No, Uta was much more used to carriage rides than she was hikes. It made itself readily apparent as the girl tried her best to follow Yoshi's path step for step, worried about the results if she dared to stray off the path. "I can't say I know any taijutsu techniques," her words rang true, despite the chakra scalpel technically being something her body was capable of, Uta herself knew not how to use it. Nor did she know that she could. What few taijutsu style techniques she did have access to were simply past her personal abilities.      "You and your family will have to give me some wretling training Goro-chan." Uta laughed. She had certainly worked in that area of the Okada's before, doing some ring announcements for their events on occasion, but the girl had never even attempted any of the techniques she had seen members of the clan pull off in combat. "Have you ever gone to see a show, Yoshiko?"

"Hehe, as to be expected of an Okada." Yoshiko would state with a slight joyous giggle, it was a bit cliche, but the same could be said of a ninjutsu specialist in the Nohime. Certain clans simply breed and raised their kin for a specific purpose, it was hard to break that mold when it's such a core of the clan. A person was just their surroundings outcome after all, as Iwagakure residence they're also destined to be great soldiers. At least that was the nationalist view the Nohime had been raised to believe.

"Of course, hasn't every Iwagakure shinobi?" The village wasn't all that big, especially when you compared it to the majority of shinobi villages. It was due to their distinct military nature, as the vast majority of it's population was that of present or past shinobi. The Okada were generally not the largest shinobi presence, but they were loud and a source of entertainment. A source which fit the land it was associated to quite well.

"I will admit, I've seen more recently than in the past. A wise friend of mine asked me to look out for Taki, a wise choice she seems to be a pretty important bridge between the clan and the villages general shinobi mentality." Perhaps Taki and the clan could use more discipline, but so far Yoshiko hadn't seen their boisterousness be too devastating. She was young enough to be open to a more crass and unruly shinobi, as to her results and comradery were more important than rules and discipline. Perhaps a crutch of her mantra.

"We're starting to close in on the location, so who wants to guess the type of trouble we're getting into?" Yoshiko would ask, as she'd make a clear hand seal, as to actively push her sensory limits to see for herself. There were shinobi who could hide from sensory, but this approach wasn't planned in a dated sense. It was highly unlikely for anyone to expect their arrival?

[attr="class","goropost"]The idea of training someone in the ways of the Okada was an exciting proposition–definitely something Goro could see himself getting behind. It showed behind a white smile with a full set of teeth glaring brightly at Uta. "Ya, sure thing! Maybe we can get in da ring sometime and lace up.” It would never occur to Goro that the term ‘lace up’ wasn’t exactly common or well-known outside of the Okada clan. It would be up to Uta’s ability to read context to understand that he was referring to a spar.

Even with sparring, the young Okadan prince took things more seriously than most. He was a fighter by birthright, and his spitfire attitude matched.

Hearing that the two women had been to see his clan’s infamous shows only made him puff out his chest a bit. He was proud to be a part of such a notable clan within his village. The Okada were clearly held in high regards–not that he’d ever questioned it.

He cocked his yellow-haired head. The Jounin Hanchou was looking out for his cousin? He almost laughed at the thought, but knew better. Taki didn’t need someone to look after her. She could whip anyone into shape with her hands behind her back.

Goro huffed. "There won’t be no trouble with a team like ours, you bet! 'Specially not with me 'ere” He pumped his fists, entirely unaware of the looming presence of danger lurking about.

"Aw, I love Taki! Glad to hear she's getting credit from the top,"  Uta had been a friend of the Okada family for awhile now, especially a friend of Taki herself. It was honestly surprising that Uta hadn't already garnered some sort of training from the organization. Despite her appreciation for them, she was still a relatively young shinobi, and she was clearly someone with a different style of combat. Any Taijutsu techniques she learned would likely just be used as a last resort if someone got to close, but that wasn't a bad idea by any means.     "As for what lays before us," Uta took a moment to think about what all Yoshiko had mentioned earlier, "I don't really expect any bandits. I know that they could be covering their trail, but we haven't really seen anything that would make me think they were in the area. I think if we get into any trouble it would just be the local fauna. Some wolves or a bear, something like that."      She rubbed the back of her head as she talked. Not necessarily too confident in her prediction. She had been asked a question though, and it would clearly have been rude to ignore it.     She had to do be prepared for whatever came next, wether she was right or not. She would take the opportunity to analyze her gear once again, check that her tools were in their proper places.

Approaching the cavern entrance, it'd certainly not appear to be a very large tunnel. Instead it'd have an opening that'd allow little over two people to stand next to each other. It had a bit more of a tall and narrow crack feel then a mine shaft cylinder shape too it. Despite the entrancing seeming a bit obvious now. The not too wide entrance making it a likely poor place for stow aways. There was still good reason to investigate.

Yoshiko still couldn't detect any shinobi with her sensory, but she could get faint signatures of what she'd likely assume were animals. A large one and a smaller one, "Hmm... I have a feeling your prediction about bears might be right. I sense two things barely without a signature one seems to be larger, but it's hard to say off a creature that doesn't use chakra. I'm thinking a bear and it's cub." In the Nohime's mind this made their clearing out of this place feel a bit more awkward. Though she'd due what she had to help keep people safe.

There was however the more tangible concern of how much more an animal will fight when it comes to protecting their kin. A part of the Nohime was confident it didn't matter. She believed in the might of Iwagakure genin, especially the ones with her now. Taki was a vibrant and ambitious person. Birds of a feather flocked together and all, but she didn't need to overstep these twos boundaries. "Any preferences on how we handle this survey knowing there's a couple 'somethings' in there? I've got more sensory, if you'd like me to gather more intel before entering. Though I'm confident enough to a lead march in then out too."
