It was good to get confirmation of his theory, though Shosuke had to admit that a part of him felt bad. Though chakra manipulation was far from a rare ability, there were certain people in the world who simply weren't capable of it. As such, whenever it came to fighting those people, it felt almost like bullying, as patently absurd as that might sound.
In his experience, the wealth of power between someone who was and someone who wasn't capable of such things was like night and day.
Even so, perhaps Matoi had a point. This guy had managed to escape prison, it wasn't like he was entirely defenseless. In fact, the very fact that he had managed to elude capture so far seemed to suggest that there was something with this guy that other people simply didn't have.
Though, maybe it was all just dumb luck. It certainly wouldn't be the first time someone inept had managed to slip out of prison, even if he couldn't remember when it had happened in the Land of Lightning.
Whatever the case, the man was a danger to himself and others as long as he remained on the lam, and so it didn't matter what one's feelings were about it. It was a job, and he had to do it.
Speaking of, from the sound of the distant whinnying, Shosuke could tell that they were getting near to their quarry. As they ran, his mind was beginning to catch up to his surroundings. It was almost like he was looking at a semi-detailed map, the very world itself being filled in by his movement within it. At the very edge of his vision, in fact, was a form that he was intent on studying.
The man in question, though Shosuke couldn't see his face, was a large one. His body seemed big enough that it almost dwarfed the horse in comparison. A less generous spirit might even call it comically small, its lithe and nimble frame not meant to take someone of this colossal figure. The man himself was drenched in muscle, built like some sort of tournament lifter or an oni from a children's fairytale. Upon the man's back sat a long, metallic tube, something that Shosuke had to assume based on its shape was a sword.
Okay, so this guy isn't going to make this easy for us... Better try and throw him off his game.
Reaching into his backpocket, Shosuke's hands fumbled around for a second, looking for something specific. Finally, with a small murmur of confirmation, he pulled out a small spheric orb wrapped in brown paper.
Anyone could see what it was with even a cursory glance - a flash bomb, designed for diversions, surprise attacks, or... well, or for what happened next.
Giving it a hard toss, the small paper sphere appeared right in front of the charging horse, going off with a small explosion. Immediately, the horse screamed out a panicked whinny, picking up speed as it began bucking and throwing itself this way and that in its panic as the man began to struggle to keep it from slipping out from under him.
As long as they kept the horse from running into other people, Shosuke thought, it was probably better for the man NOT to have control over it.
