Immediate chaos. Daichi wasn’t sure how everything had turned south so suddenly, but Kasumi and Keiji were now also in the fray. He barely had time to react, and all thought went out the window; he reacted instinctively, hands flying to form handseals as quickly as possible to try to resolve the problem that he had seemingly caused. Two handseals first, to stretch a thin armor of barrier over his skin—protect himself from the worst of the onslaught of the fiery birds headed his way. But that wouldn’t take care of Kimihiro, who was about to be victimized by friendly fire. He wouldn’t be able to move fast enough to intervene, but maybe— Quickly forming another short series of handseals, a small pyramid barrier extended from Daichi’s fingers, a fragile thing rapidly extending towards the flat of Kasumi’s blade: hoping to knock it just off-course enough to avoid hurting Kimihiro. "These are chuunin-grade opponents!” he called, loud enough for Kasumi and Keiji to hear. "Be careful!”

The user creates a small barrier on the very outside of their skin. While this barrier is not anywhere near as resilient as other barriers because of how stretched thin it is, a normal punch being able to break it, it does protect the user from the brunt of all but the most serious attacks. Its effectiveness comes from the fact that it requires no chakra to maintain and is self repairing. However while repairing it is no longer effective and requires two whole post for the armor to becoming functional again after being hit with anything resembling an actual attack, though being hit with things that would not truly count as an attack would not break it. Requires two hand seals.

DESCRIPTION:
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user focuses their chakra into the points of their index and middle fingers. Using this focused chakra, the user creates a small pyramid barrier that is on inch wide, one inch thick and one inch in depth. Using their fingers to aim the technique, they can extend the barrier in one direction approximately 8 feet in length to impale opponents in front of them. The barrier created by this technique has the same strength as glass, but has enough force to pierce through the human body before breaking. However, objects of higher density will certainly stop it, including certain thicknesses of wood, iron or steel. Once the barrier has shattered, the technique will fade away and cause no further damage to those impaled by the technique.

Kaguya Kimihiro

It seemed that he had misjudged how quickly his opponent could get off the jutsu, with it being launched despite his Raippo enhanced speed, he wasn't even sure if he had managed to hit a single one of them in the midst of the fight, and so Kimihiro was left out of position when a whole number of other things seemed to go on at once. He had thought Dai-hai had said they were chuunin level, but perhaps they had been hiding something, regardless, he would have to adjust his thinking.

Honestly it was a bit like the war all over again.

In such a situation, many shinobi would try to fall back, or perhaps hope to weave between the fire and smoke, but he didn't exactly think the same way as others. Instead, as fire and smoke spread out before him, Kimihiro pulled his legs up slightly as he gathered chakra in them and kicked off, utlising Subakage-ryū: Senka to push himself up in a three meter diagonal, the second redirection bringing him further up and to the side to disguise his position better from the enemy, and then third one speeding his descent back down. At the same time, bone spread out from his skin in plates just in case, a coating that he could quickly discard should the flames hit them, shedding them to protect himself.

Having used Senka to get four meters into the air before his descent, he was fairly confident that he was out of the flaming jutsu, and get him out of the way of the sword that was thrown at him (not that he had noticed that immediately, his focus on the enemy sufficient to distract him from the unexpected attack). And if not, his impromptu ablative bone armour should spare him the worst of it.

The Kaguya would hit the ground on the outer edge of the patrol rapidly thanks to the zigzagging leap of Senka, his sword seeking to strike any of the nearby enemies that might still be stunned from the blast. It didn't matter who he hit, so long as he could take out an opponent things would hopefully shift, while keeping at least one enemy between himself and the others at all times to make it harder to be swarmed.

DESCRIPTION:

While other Step Method techniques see the most use on the ground, Flash Blossom is designed specifically to be used in the air. When a shinobi is forced to leave the ground, intentionally or otherwise, they are often left more vulnerable. Flash Blossom was designed to remedy that somewhat. By pulling their knees up and putting a little chakra into their legs, and then kicking out, the shinobi causes air to rapidly compress, and eventually creates enough resistance that they push against the air.



Flash Blossom can redirect the shinobi three times per use, generally moving about three meters per step before they lose momentum and start falling. Using this technique a second time will cause extreme stress to the legs, and no Step Method techniques can be used for at least one turn. Extensive use of this technique can cause damage to the body, so it is best to be somewhat conservative.

Daichi reacted quickly to resolve the issue of being immediately burned by the fire birds, and managed to knock Kasumi's blade off course in a manner that would save Kimihiro from being stabbed or cut into by the blade. Fortunately, Kimihiro's Kaguya blood would have saved him from being truly bisected, but it was better to simply avoid any injury this early on, so what Daichi did was right even if he could not stop the fire bird onslaught moving towards Kimihiro.

Kimi's reaction to cover himself in a bone layer that peeled upon the fire hitting him was smart, as it allowed him to save skin in the moment as well. All in all, it seemed everyone was totally out of the way of the attacks, but also Kasumi pulled on the blade by its attached ribbon causing it to clash against the ground dully...

There was a prolonged moment of silence, with absolutely no reaction from the downed enemies - Kimihiro having taken one out naturally with his landing though that still left four unknown alive or dead.

The smoke continued to dissipate from the moment as if an eerie calm, then outlines of many appeared and then an impossible flurry of arrows would descend upon the group. They were expertly aimed at the posse even as Kasumi made her attempt to get close to Keiji. Whilst Daichi and Kimihiro were joined by Ikana, Sho and Kyoko to this eerie silence, swept away by the whisper of arrow shafts flying towards them...

This would require durability, a shield, or quite a bit of kenjutsu skill to ward off... Though with kenjutsu the individual would have to use up stamina and chakra consistently to fix the issue.

A moment of silence, of eerie calm. Kyoko, Ikana, and Sho joined up with the group while Kasumi and Keiji began making their way to the keep. Daichi's chest heaved as the adrenaline spike worked its way through his system, but he barely had more than moment to catch his breath before the next wave of action was beginning. With only seconds to act, Daichi again didn't have time to think. He followed Ikana's lead, rallying with the younger chuunin as he booked it towards the Keep. Ikana's pressurized water wall would undoubtedly be helpful in protecting from the initial barrage, but... she was talented and had far better offensive options than Daichi himself, from what he remembered from the chuunin exams. "Keep going, I'll cover the rear," he called, forming three handseals as he ran, constructing a large barrier wall overhead. The barrier covered the tops of their heads, connected to a barrier that directly blocked off their rear guard, and extended back to protect Daichi's flanks. The ceiling of the barrier extended as far towards the keep as Daichi could possibly manage--it would burn up a lot of his chakra reserves, but what choice did he have? "Focus on clearing out the keep, I'll link up with you guys when I can." He pressed his hands to the surface of the barrier, stabilizing and strengthening it. He would be locked in place for as long as he needed the barrier to hold, but if it allowed for the others to make it inside safely, then that was all he needed to know.

The user creates a solid wall like barrier that appears almost instantly anywhere within a 15ft radius. The wall itself is highly durable and requires D ranked jutsu power to shatter anything lower would simply be ineffective against the wall if not outright break after coming in contact with it, with weapons would need to be empowered with chakra to do any damage though that are not are ineffective with projectiles harmless clattering down to the ground. The wall can be sprung up in a moments notice and the shape and size of it varies depending on the users preference and chakra use (anywhere between 5ft and 15ft tall). As many walls can be made as the user wishes to make (or have the chakra to make) however the plus side is that once the walls are created they take no chakra to maintain. Requires three hand seals.

Using this technique to strengthen the barrier, the user must maintain their hands on its surface to keep the durability intact. Once the user removes their hands, the barrier will retain its original quality of strength. This technique can only be used to improve up to C-ranked Kekkai Ninjutsu Techniques.

Kaguya Kimihiro

Barely acknowledging the enemy that he had killed on his landing, the Kaguya continued to scan his surroundings to try and find the others, hoping to catch them off guard. It seemed however that more people were coming towards their location, other members of Kirigakure's forces converging towards the same point. He had thought they were further out, but that was obviously not the case.

He didn't really have much of a chance to do more as the familiar sound of arrows filled the air, the large sword in his hand being brought up to block them even as he moved back towards the others that had appeared. With the Kubikiribocho being about as large as he was, it would serve as a sturdy enough shield until he could zip into the cover of the barriers that Dai-hai set up, and the watery wall that was being shaped by one of the newcomers, his bone armour reforming as well to help against any glancing blows that he might otherwise risk taking.

He couldn't confirm the deaths of the patrol, but the rain of arrows should handle them if they were still stunned by the explosives. If not, well, perhaps one of the newcomers would be good for dealing with them from range, because it seemed that they were moving on regardless, and he wasn't about to abandon his partner to fight what he wanted.

"Ne, what's the situation?" he'd ask as soon as he got close enough, trying to make sure they were all on the same page. Coordination was clearly important.

The now grouping of five witnessed the arrows flying from the heavens and they reacted, well some reacted, others were a little less quick on their feet. Particularly Ikana and Daichi were the first to react, Ikana summoned a water wall to protect her comrades as she pushed forward towards the Keep whose front doors were basically wide open to enter now with no guards to block the area. A few arrows did get past Ikana's water wall, but they were so slowed down at that point that they just clattered to the soft grassy ground as the grouping kept moving.

Daichi got something that was a bit sturdier to block and Kimi managed to use his sword. Kyoko joining the fray as she activated her eyes behind to view what was happening.

Something like twenty people were at the top of the Keep shooting arrows, completely unfazed by Sho's attempt to scare them with the wolves. They were not anywhere near the threat, so it was not something they really cared about... Still it seemed that their job was done and they were scattered downwards separating between levels of the Keep instead of being concentrated up at the top.

Now the group could enter the Keep, or run up the wall to the top... But Kyoko could see that at the very top there was someone extremely dangerous in wait, someone that even all together, they would unlikely be able to take on.

As the volley of arrows ended and the group came upon the main doors unprotected and unguarded, what would they do?

By some miracle—honestly, largely just Ikana’s water wall—Daichi and company escaped from the barrage of arrows unscathed. He only hoped that the jounin hadn’t been impacted as well. With the archers scattering, Daichi took a moment to focus in on his sensory awareness, leaving his now-unfortified barrier wall in place as he reached out with his chakra to try to get a better picture of what was unfolding inside the fort. Of greatest significance, presumably, was the imposing chakra signature that still lurked atop the fortress. "Be careful,” Daichi said to Ikana’s clone as she began making her way to the top. "There’s someone dangerous up there—way beyond what we can handle.” His gaze fell on the entrance to the keep. "Stick to the plan. There were twenty archers up top and likely more inside—we need to clear a path for the jounin.” By this point his barrier armor had finished repairing itself, and presented as a nearly transparent sheen that covered his body: something he was grateful for, because he was feeling the strain the barrier wall had put on his chakra reserves. Not for the first time, Daichi wished that he had ever bothered to learn some kind of kenjutsu. In lieu of a sword he pulled out three shuriken, clutching them between his knuckles, and etched into their surfaces the great expansion seal, imbuing each with a small amount of chakra. Daichi would follow Kimi’s lead, following in the other man’s wake if they were to make their way inside.

A rudimentary technique where the user inscribes a small seal upon any palm sized or smaller inanimate object. Once activated by a single ram seal the object expands exponentially in size based upon the amount of chakra the user puts into the seal. This happens only for a brief duration (1 post) before the object returns back to its original size in a puff of white smoke.

Kaguya Kimihiro

Protected from the arrows first by his sword and then by the efforts of the others, and together the group of now five people made their way to the entrance of the keep. One of the women talked about going up the walls, and even sent her clone running up, but Kimihiro shook his head.

"Walls are too dangerous, Dai-hai is right, through the keep, clear the path," he stated, stepping towards the entrance, "keep an eye out for stragglers coming at us from behind." He'd seen assaults up vertical walls like that, high enough to make it difficult for a shinobi to clear quickly, and with guards strong enough to make a difference, it was practically suicide for any of them to try.

With his massive sword held easily in front of him to help defend himself if necessary, he stepped towards the door to the keep, nudging it to see if it would open easily. It... was probably a bad thing if it did, but worth checking first. If the door seemed barricaded, he'd check it for any signs of traps, and then instruct the others to stand back as he readied himself to break it open.

If the door swung open easily, he'd be looking a lot more carefully for traps.

"We gotta be ready for static defences, traps and the like" he instructed, usually carefree attitude fading away in the face of feeling responsible for what he realised was a pack of kids. He was more than happy to risk his own health and safety for some fun, but his guts twisted unpleasantly at the thought of putting them at risk.

Weird.

When Kimihiro tested the door, it opened at the slightest indication of pressure. It was a heavy wooden thing, and quite sturdy. But it seemed that its hinges were well cared for enough that it did not struggle to swing on them almost effortlessly. It was not quick, but it was a smooth slide open.

There were no visible traps in the area, just a wide area. Like a welcoming hall almost made of stone, carefully crafted but definitely having seen a lot of time to weather away. Nothing a little care could not replenish. There were a few hunting pieces lining the walls, and a rather large rug.

Kasumi and Keiji would see this, standing next to the rest of the party now. But they would have to determine whether they were going to run in together or if they were going to try and stick next to the rest of everyone who was on standby.

For Ikana's clone it would try to climb up the main wall of the Keep, but upon being spotted it was met with an undue amount of force. Waves of katon, raiton and fuuton sweeping through blanketing the wall in large swathes enough to cause the clone to fully disperse or have to jump away from the wall and fall back to the ground.

In the meantime, Sho would cast an illusion attempting to cause any enemies to not see them. Alas, in the moment there were - seemingly - no enemies in the area.

Now, finally the penultimate moment came.

When they entered the Keep, there were still no traps and that much was visible through any chakra sensory too. There were a few torches here and there to keep some light in the darker space. There were no enemies in the area either, or so it seemed. There was a large center staircase, a grand staircase. That all of them could fit on if they walked up onto it. There was also a direct path to their left and a direct path to their right.

Both seemed to lead into another room.

The staircase too split into directions, east and west, left and right. How would the party decide where to go, and would they stay together or would they strategically split away in parties to investigate? How much time did they think they could afford to waste?

The parties have all come together, and the door swings open easily for some reason. There are no immediate traps inside. There is a grand staircase, a space to the left and right. As well if the party goes UP the staircase it splits to the left and right. How will the party choose to go through?

His sensory was unclear. Enemies dotted the entire Keep, with none of the paths laying before them seeming less populated than the others; his hackles raised when he caught wind of three jounin signatures--four?--up and to the left, but relaxed minutely when he realized one of them was Sora's. The others, he wasn't sure, but it seemed reasonable that they would be the other members of her team. "We need to clear out the lower floors," Daichi said; loud enough to be heard by the rest of their group, but hopefully whispering quietly enough so as not to be overhead by unwanted ears. "Kasumi, Keiji, go left. Kyo, Ikana, Sho, go right. Clear those wings out and then rendezvous with me and Kimi upstairs and to the right. Sora and her group are upstairs to the left." He gave a wordless, meaningful look to his sister, as if to say do not follow me until you're done. Her overprotective streak could mean the death of her teammates if she weren't sensible. Daichi was being forceful--perhaps inappropriately, given that Kimi was the highest rank of all of them--but he didn't think twice about it. Instead he readied his prepared shuriken in hand, activated the vitality detection of his doujutsu while maintaining a light awareness of his passive sensory perception, and began leading the way up the stairs and to the right.

Vitality Detection Technique
Similar to the Byakugan's ability to detect chakra, this ability is unique to the Jaakugan, and allows the user to detect the vital energies of any being within the range of their Jaakugan, even through obstructions, with the user's range limited only by their proficiency in the use of the Jaakugan and this technique. It should be stated that this ability does not grant any form of telescopic vision or the ability to discern anything aside from life energies at a distance or through obstructions.

It was somewhat unsettling for the keep to be so easy to walk into, no traps, no barring of the doors, his instincts told him there was more to this whole situation that the obvious, but for the moment there wasn't much else that he could do but continue moving on. As they reached the staircase he kept himself on high alert, though his attention did turn back to one of the kids that were with him, crimson gaze narrowing thoughtfully as he tried to place the familiarity. And he wasn't talking about Hound.

It wasn't until Daichi spoke that he was able to place it, and for a moment he ignored what was said in favour of pointing at the other white haired male, "you! You're not allowed to die, it'd make the sweetroll sad!" With that message given to Sho, the small Kaguya took point and started to head up the stairs just a bit in front of Daichi, not particularly bothered that the Chuunin had made a call, after all, he was a sensor, and probably had a better grasp of their current location than Kimihiro did.

Still, he was going to be cautious, the lack of any sort of defences bothered him far more than he liked to admit.

Startling Strength
As one of the Kaguya's Kekkai Genkai wielders Kimihiro was trained in the arts of close combat and deadly taijutsu from a young age. This brutally punishing training regime ensure that despite his slender build and small size, he is significantly stronger than he has any right to be. His focus and skill in taijutsu has made it certain that few Tokubetsu Jounin can match him in raw strength.

Any Shikotsumyaku user who wants to live long enough to hit double digits needs to be fast, and Kimihiro is one of them. Quick and light on his feet, his small form and intense physical training has ensured that he is amongst the fastest of his rank.

Daichi made a decision, a call for the rest of the group and it was a decent one - a divide and conquer strategy based on what he saw.

Then he and Kimihiro started to wander up the stairs carefully to the right wind. There was a staircase that wound upwards. They would easily without any traps go through an archway and just passing under it something would snap loudly behind them. If they looked behind them, a door had closed and closed tight. Unlike the rest of the Keep this door was made of stone instead of wood and would not be easily broken through to get out. Now they were in a dimly lit room, it was somewhat circular made of stone like the rest of the place. There were a few small windows, but the primary source of light was the torch that hung on the wall.

The eerie silence filled the air before the sound of footsteps would be heard and a chuckle that quickly followed after, the boys would soon see a man come through a doorway opposite that shut behind him locking them into this space.

"Lambs come to slaughter?" It might been an odd thing to say, but if Daichi paid attention he would notice that the chakra signature on this man was nothing short of a jounin and would require their full attention and power to put down. What was probably worse, was this was not the only chakra signature surrounding them - though the rest were very obviously not up to par in comparison to this one.

They go up the stairs to the right and are met with an adversary unlike before. Daichi can sense there is more than just this enemy in the room.

Daichi was briefly relieved that no one pushed back on his plan--they didn't have time to waste, after all, and time spent arguing could be better spent fighting. His relief quickly dissipated when he followed Kimi into a circular room, and a stone door slid shut behind them with an ominous click. "Kimi, that's a jounin," Daichi hissed. He knew Kimihiro was capable--on par with a jounin when it came to his swordplay, absolutely--but all of the keep's occupants they'd fought so far had been much weaker than their new opponent. "More surrounding, but minor signatures--hard to tell exactly how many. Just be careful." He needed to focus. His offensive capabilities weren't enough to be able to assist Kimi head-on against a jounin, which left him in the role he always occupied: lock down and gather information. His barrier armor had long since reformed, a thin protective sheen over his skin. He waited for Kimi to leave his immediate vicinity, then formed a series of handseals to complete two techniques: the paralysis seal and the repulsion seal, characters and spidery lines spreading out in a five-meter radius around him like watery ink. With any luck, if any of the additional enemies in the room tried taking on Daichi while he was focused on relaying information to Kimihiro, they would be stunned and repelled back into the meatgrinder that was the Sixth Seat. His protections in place, Daichi actively focused on his sensory whilst maintaining his vitality doujutsu, verbally relaying information to Kimihiro as it came to him: how many enemies were coming and from which directions.

DESCRIPTION:
After performing the necessary hand signs the user then places their hand onto whatever it is to place a visible 5m radius seal upon it. Anything other than the user that tries to cross the seal from outside will be repelled and be pushed back noticeably throwing them off balance and guard. This seal lasts 5 posts or until removed using an unsealing technique.

DESCRIPTION:
Placed on the ground after forming the necessary hand signs it creates a visible seal covering a 5m area in radius around the user. Anything other than the user that tries to cross the seal from outside will be frozen in place for one post unable to move. If combined with a Repulsion Seal it has the effect of not only paralyzing but then sending them flying with great speed in the opposite direction. This seal lasts 5 posts or until removed using a unsealing technique. However unlike the repulsion seal the edge of it shines faintly serving to warn others of the danger of approaching. This does not however reveal the seals nature just that one is in effect.

Vitality Detection Technique
Similar to the Byakugan's ability to detect chakra, this ability is unique to the Jaakugan, and allows the user to detect the vital energies of any being within the range of their Jaakugan, even through obstructions, with the user's range limited only by their proficiency in the use of the Jaakugan and this technique. It should be stated that this ability does not grant any form of telescopic vision or the ability to discern anything aside from life energies at a distance or through obstructions.

"What was that?" The man asked, unimpressed by the attempt to communicate quietly.

The next thing that came was more than likely expected, but the problem was that it came too fast. The hand seals that were formed were a blur, and the man seemed to fly through them with little to no problem. Soon after Kimihiro would be finding himself in a pickle as a blob of ash would come to form around him, engulfing his person if he were not careful. But the man did not wait, he would form a tiger seal to ignite the blob of ash that had come to engulf the Kaguya.

While regular fire was not one that normally killed shinobi, the idea was to be so oppressive that it would kill the morale of these two before he could kill them. He wanted to play with his food a little before he got to put them down. And it seemed that the dark-haired one was quite nervous, which gave the man quite the feeling of excitement.

Boss would be *really* happy if he was able to put down even a tiny unit of shinobi forces, it would be unacceptable if they lost to these invaders today. This was *their* home after all.

DESCRIPTION:
After three hand-seals, the user will expel a small, sudden cloud (three meters by three meters) of ash from their mouth. When ready, the user can ignite the ash with a single tiger hand-seal. If not ignited, the ash will hold it's shape for roughly thirty seconds before dispersing. The flames are no more powerful than normal fire, igniting flammable objects and causing minor burns. It can cause serious damage if caught in the face or inhaled however.

Kaguya Kimihiro

Kimihiro was already on edge, and the indication from Daichi that they were up against a Jounin was enough to focus that wariness to a blade's edge. While he himself was equal to  any Jounin in terms of his Taijutsu and Bukijutsu (surpassing those that did not specialise in such areas), it was the other areas that he was at a disadvantage, and it would be there that he would have to be at his most careful.  

Luckily he was both on high alert and far faster than an average Jounin level shinobi, so the moment the ash began to gather around him, the Kaguya blurred out of view thanks to Shunpo, trying to bring himself closer to the enemy while keeping himself from exposing his back to the other signatures that Daichi had indicated. He didn't know what the Jutsu did, but he wasn't about to let himself get caught in it if he could help it.

That was never a smart move after all.

As he reappeared to normal view, Kimihiro brought the Kubikirbocho up in a wide slash, fire licking across the blade before bursting outward in a massive arc, Katon: Hakōgeki sending a wave of fire through the area that emulated the length of his slash. He wasn't stupid enough to think it would take out the enemy, but he was hoping it might do something, either to the Jounin or the other signatures that Daichi had mentioned.

DESCRIPTION:

Within the Step Method's branching techniques, the Flash Steps is the most refined for pure velocity and acceleration in one, linear direction. From the point of origin until the shinobi stops, they are able to move at an incredible pace, practically vanishing from sight. However, this is an incredibly taxing method of movement, and if used to move too far it can stress the body. It cannot reach the speed granted by Body Flicker, but it is not quite as devastating on the user. Traveling beyond fifteen meters with one step will cause great stress to the body. It still has a high chakra cost, but the muscle strain will immobilize the shinobi for one round as their body recovers. It is possible to utilize multiple flash steps back to back, but cost must be paid individually.

The user gathers katon chakra into their blade before slashing to release the chakra in a large arc, a wave of blistering hot fire burning whatever is in its path. It travels up to 5m and is as wide as the full swing of the sword used for the technique. This jutsu causes second degree burns on contact at best, and will ignite someone if they are caught inside.
