There is only one path left to take.

Kasumi was not thrilled when she get to the patrol only to find out that she was too late. She cursed under her breath, but quickly buttoned up her jacket with one button and again winded up her sword. She threw it at the man fleeing up the wall, the ribbon flying past him. Hopefully he was too concerned about the arrows to think about an attack from behind. The ribbon would circle around him- if he was, and wrap the man in her trap.

Borrowing Keiji's cover from his water wall- and anything else team one had done to try and protect them- Kasumi would hope to pull the fleeing enemy back towards her when he was trapped. Using him as a human shield to protect her when she did make her advance up the wall.

If that didn't work, she hoped that her danger sensing chakra could help her avoid the worst of it. Mixed in with her protective jacket that reacted to her demon's chakra to absorb some of the impact from the arrows... well- she was sure she'd survive. She greatly hoped that she would still be in condition to fight.

If she went down before killing even one of these guys, she might just lose her damned mind.

demon's jacket: Chakra Reactive: The jacket is crafted specifically to react to the Demon Chakra Cloak. When the cloak is active, it becomes naturally thicker without using more of a drain and enhance the cloak to absorb some impact from kinetic attacks.

Durability: Being made from fine Waruichi silk, the jacket is naturally resistant to damage. Specifically burning and slashing type damage.

DESCRIPTION:

The user uses the ribbon at the end of the blade to help launch the sword, not unlike with the heart piercer technique, but instead with the intention of wrapping the weapon around their enemy (or enemies, if they are standing next to each other) to prevent their movements. Since the ribbon needs to wrap around the enemy, the effective range is only 10 meters. If the enemy is captured or not, the user can pull the weapon back if they have the physical strength to.

There was no water wall for Keiji who had disappeared away from the structure of the keep and back towards the forest leaving Kasumi to fend for herself. She was lucky however that her sword was quick and managed to grab the man that was fleeing up the Keep's structure. Indeed it killed him and indeed she was able to use it as a bit of protection, however it was not perfect and a few arrows managed to sink into Kasumi nonetheless. Though she managed to get away from being killed, she likely was not going to get away from getting hurt.

At this point though the arrows would stop and she would be nearby the grouping of five from before. With Daichi taking the lead in terms of scanning the area.

She could join up with them or continue forward inside the Keep itself, but without proper information doing it solo might spell death. There was also a good chance she could wait for a moment and wait for Keiji to rejoin her side and they could go at it as a team instead of individually as not acting as a team seemed to not be working very well in either of their favors.

For some reason a roar could be heard though and soon thereafter it was followed by the very unceremonious dripping of water from overhead onto everyone standing just underneath the Keep.

The big group comes upon Kasumi who manages to just barely protect herself with the dead body. Unfortunately she has taken two arrows, you may choose where but two arrows made impact somewhere that she will have to deal with. Furthermore, water is now dripping from the top of the keep.

[Kuronmeru Keiji]

     The rain of arrows slowed to a trickle and then stopped. Keiji chewed his cheek. He had a hand against the trunk of a tree, far out of reach of the archers with a good sight of Kasumi and the other Kiri Shinobi in the field there. Keiji smoothed a wrinkle out of his kimono.

     When the coast was seemingly clear, he ran out to meet Kasumi who had taken two arrows during the volley. With the gate guards gone, Keiji felt no need to rush off on his own. For the time being he'd stick with her, and the others.

     Keiji glanced over at Kimihiro for a moment. Those were good times, he thought. The Civil War had been, in retrospect, one of the greatest times of his life. It hadn't seemed so at the very beginning, but he could see more clearly now. Without the blinders of youth.

     He would come to a stop besides Kasumi and offer her a strip of bandages from his roll, crudely ripped thanks to his lack of tanto. She'd need to find another medic later, he wasn't willing to waste more chakra on fixing her own mistakes. He considered this meager offering as much a kindness as he was willing to extend.

There is only one path left to take.

Kasumi hardly even made a grunt of pain as the first arrow dug into her belly, just over her hip bone. The second in her shoulder made her growl in frustration, but she was thankful that her enhanced reactions allowed her to prevent anything too serious. She discarded the corpse of her human shield and grit her teeth as she plucked out the arrows from her body. She ended her radiating detection- it was doing her no good anyway. She needed to stop the bleeding for a bit if she wanted to be in this for the long hull.

As if on queue, Keiji showed up then and offered bandages. Kasumi graciously accepted, starting to quickly wrap her wounds.

"This isn't working with us split up. Sorry. Let's head in together. I'll have your back, you should lead."

Of course, Kasumi wanted to run in and rip and tear until the job was done... but the jounin was a higher rank. More equipped to dealing with such a situation. So she would wait for him to start the charge and then get involved.

She'd made the mistake of not doing that enough for one mission. Inside, they would get the job done for real, she assured herself.

When Kimihiro tested the door, it opened at the slightest indication of pressure. It was a heavy wooden thing, and quite sturdy. But it seemed that its hinges were well cared for enough that it did not struggle to swing on them almost effortlessly. It was not quick, but it was a smooth slide open.

There were no visible traps in the area, just a wide area. Like a welcoming hall almost made of stone, carefully crafted but definitely having seen a lot of time to weather away. Nothing a little care could not replenish. There were a few hunting pieces lining the walls, and a rather large rug.

Kasumi and Keiji would see this, standing next to the rest of the party now. But they would have to determine whether they were going to run in together or if they were going to try and stick next to the rest of everyone who was on standby.

For Ikana's clone it would try to climb up the main wall of the Keep, but upon being spotted it was met with an undue amount of force. Waves of katon, raiton and fuuton sweeping through blanketing the wall in large swathes enough to cause the clone to fully disperse or have to jump away from the wall and fall back to the ground.

In the meantime, Sho would cast an illusion attempting to cause any enemies to not see them. Alas, in the moment there were - seemingly - no enemies in the area.

Now, finally the penultimate moment came.

When they entered the Keep, there were still no traps and that much was visible through any chakra sensory too. There were a few torches here and there to keep some light in the darker space. There were no enemies in the area either, or so it seemed. There was a large center staircase, a grand staircase. That all of them could fit on if they walked up onto it. There was also a direct path to their left and a direct path to their right.

Both seemed to lead into another room.

The staircase too split into directions, east and west, left and right. How would the party decide where to go, and would they stay together or would they strategically split away in parties to investigate? How much time did they think they could afford to waste?

The parties have all come together, and the door swings open easily for some reason. There are no immediate traps inside. There is a grand staircase, a space to the left and right. As well if the party goes UP the staircase it splits to the left and right. How will the party choose to go through?

[Kuronmeru Keiji]

     Almost comedic, he thought while smirking at Daichi with his arms crossed. Precocious little sixteen year old thought he could tell Keiji what to do. Though, this way, if anything went wrong Keiji could blame it on him. Not that he felt any responsibility for them in the first place. If anyone was moronic enough to get themselves killed on this mission, it was their own fault.

     Still, the boy had Kimihiro with him. Keiji trusted nothing too bad would happen to them thanks to that. He motioned to Kasumi and they took off down the left path. The Kuronmeru wiped the blood from his tanto on tapestries that adorned the wall, leaving dark red smears across the artwork. He sheathed it and stowed it in his kimono. He imagined retrieving it on the way in had been worth it now that they were inside.

     "Come on then, girl." he said with only a hint of vitriol. They had plenty of ground to cover, doors to check. "Take the lead for me," he commanded with a forward hand gesture. "I've used more chakra than I wanted to." Such things tend to happen when you're saddled with a bunch of children.

There is only one path left to take.

The mission so far, though difficult, hadn't gone too poorly. She'd killed an enemy, only took minor wounds. Though she had used a good bit of chakra, she still had more left in the tank for sure. She had killed an enemy, too. Keiji had on his own too.

The man seemed eager for more fighting, though, and Kasumi was far from opposed to the idea. She wasn't sure how much she trusted him, but he was a special jounin. He should be worth something.

It took more than a rank to really impress Kasumi, and even with the tone that Keiji threw at her she hadn't quite decided that he earned her respect yet. Instead she gave a nod to Daichi, his plan seemed sound. Even if she knew the man wasn't exactly the best fighter in the village. "Right. We'll cover more ground that way. Don't die, then."

Kasumi, without giving much more attention passed a slight nod to Keiji, would head left. Eyes sharp for an enemy that may be lurking around any corner. Sword drawn and at the ready. If she did see opposition, she would be quick to engage. Hoping to kill them with a slash of her sword before they had time to gather their senses.

Though she doubted any would be caught unaware at the moment, it was still an instinct.

Daichi made a decision, a call for the rest of the group and it was a decent one - a divide and conquer strategy based on what he saw.

This put Keiji and Kasumi on the path to the left cutting away from the main entrance hall and to one of the veins that cut into another path. It was a clear path that cut left and there were no traps, they could easily move through the immediate archway past a tiny segmented area before they entered through another archway into a decently spacious room. But then they would hear quite a loud snap behind them. If they looked behind them, a door had closed and closed tight. Unlike the rest of the Keep this door was made of stone instead of wood and would not be easily broken through to get out. Now they were in a dimly lit room, it was somewhat square made of stone like the rest of the place. There were a few windows that faced out to the front, but the other primary source of light were the torches that hung on the walls.

The eerie silence filled the air before the sound of footsteps would be heard and a chuckle that quickly followed after, the duo would soon see a man come through a doorway opposite that shut behind him locking them into this space.

"Is this a little date?" It might been an odd thing to say, but if the two were paying attention this man did not seem one bit nervous unlike those that had been attacking before. There was something different about him. The sound of footsteps dropping from above also came almost like droplets from the air morphing into people and the sound of swords would descend upon Kasumi and Keiji - the battle would begin.

They go to the left room and are met with an adversary unlike before.

However it is not this adversary that makes the first move, but rather two individuals who came seemingly from nowhere with drawn swords attacking Kasumi and Keiji in tandem from behind.

     "Not dreadfully original, aren't you?" Keiji prodded as the door shut behind them. He glanced at the windows, then at the rafters, then behind himself just in time to dodge out the way of a slash coming from their rear.

     Men don't appear from nowhere, he thought. Most probably a Genjutsu, or a Kekkai Genkai of some sort. Sliding away from his assailant, Keiji formed the three handseals for his villages namesake jutsu and poured the room full of thick, fog-like mist.

     Despite his earlier complaints, Keiji hadn't really used all that much chakra thus far. Yet he was conscious enough to be aware about it - even with high skill in control, he wasn't blessed with the chakra pools some of his comrades had. Besides, they had no idea how long this mission would take or what other enemies they might encounter.

     Quite a few possible triggers, he thought to himself. The snap of the doors, perhaps, or the footsteps. Still, there wasn't enough to go off of yet to definitely prove a genjutsu. He didn't want to waste the chakra highballing a Kai. Better to wait for another sign.

     Assuming nothing had interrupted the jutsu, the room would now be full of thick grey mist - only the faint orange glow of the torches peeking through. Unless their enemies had a counter, or some way to peer through, Keiji hoped the mist would act as a litmus test - Genjutsu phantoms would likely hone in on them immediately, unimpaired, while real fighters might swing wildly.

There is only one path left to take.

The room seemed to be, in fact, a trap as the door behind them slammed shut. Kasumi acknowledged the man that stepped out. It was clear that he was a cut or two above the peons that they had run into outside. Someone they should take a little more seriously, it seemed.

"A date? Hardly. More like a chance to blow off some steam." Kasumi mirrored the confidence that the man had, trying to get into his head as much as he was trying to get into theirs.

There wasn't much time to start assessing him, though. Footsteps and swords sounded behind the duo, and Kasumi would instinctively react like a trained swordsman. Spinning around and swiping her sword in an attempt to block the attacks against her and Keiji. The skill one she trained with the Mizukage himself to perfection. If not entirely block both, at least throw the assailant off enough for Keiji to dodge.

Hopefully, she'd be able to catch one by surprise and deal some damage. She noticed Keiji starting a hand seal for a familiar jutsu though and was a little surprised at the choice but... she had to have a little trust.

"I hope you have a plan. I can put some pressure on."

Kasumi managed to slice through one of the two who had attacked, bisecting at the torso, however the sword went clean through the second in such a manner that it seemed as if her blade had gone through water. Then the enemy was gone and with the thick fog there was now no way to tell where anyone was going. Between Kasumi and Keiji, hopefully they had a way to track people in this fog or else meet a potentially blinding end.

In this total blinding mist a crack could be heard, but hearing a crack often meant it was too late. From within the thick rolling fog the two would be faced with lightning, energy, moving so fast that it would require quite a bit of skill and focus to totally dodge. But just from the looks of it - if they even had the ability to look at it closely in such a moment - it could cause no small amount of damage at this proximity.

This technique was made worse by all of the fog as it was clearly jumping off of the water particles and conducting outwards, making it so that no matter what the duo did, they would receive a shock even if they did manage to get out of the way of the electric blade running towards them at the speed of lightning.

One of the two appearing enemies is now dead, the second has disappeared. The two however have bigger things to worry about as ultra fast lightning is moving towards them and conducting through the mist in the room.

DESCRIPTION:
Requires a bladed weapon that can conduct nature chakra. Once Lightning chakra has been molded into the blade, the user can make a 'slash' through the air with their weapon, creating and releasing a speeding, sharp arc, or 'blade' of electrical energy towards the user's target. This works by using the coating of chakra already on the blade to form a projectile blade of energy. The range depends on how much chakra is used, and as it travels it looses energy.

At Short Range (0-5 meters) it has the power to create a deep torso wound or dismember a focused limb. At Medium Range (6-15 meters) the attack could cause a decent sized and painful gash, but not severe limbs.

At Long Range (16-30 meters) the attack can cut through clothing, thinner armor, and the human skin, resulting in a superficial shallow cut. An electrical shock effect is given at any range, from a powerful shock at close range, too an annoying stinging and lingering burning feeling at long range. Due to being used with another jutsu, and a weapon, there is no need for a handseal to use--the chakra already molded throughout the weapon.

With the room full of fog, Kasumi had no choice but to reactivate her sensing technique. The chakra cost was on the higher end, but at the least it might make an opening for Keiji to strike. Once again her chakra burst from her body, Her chakra leaking out 10 meters in either direction to sense threats around her. She wasn't sure if Keiji had any detection skills, but she hoped so. She didn't want to think poorly of the jounin.

Just in time for her to see and feel the lightning attack incoming. She would move to the side, getting a rough shock that was rather painful- despite the fact that her cloak made sure that it didn't effect her too badly. She'd charge forward with no time for recovery, hoping to catch the leader off guard with an instant retaliation.

"Over here!" She'd yell out to Keiji, just in case he wouldn't be able to see through the mist. As she closed in on the man, she would swing her sword with several powerful slashes. None so fancy that she expected to hit the man fatally, but just enough that she hoped to have his attention so Keiji might get in an attack of his own.

     Blood pooled around Keiji's eyes, mimicking the visual acuity of a Dojutsu and allowing him to peer through the fog as though it were more of a semi-transparent coat over the room. He saw Kasumi, and their enemy, across the room.

     The enemy shinobi formed lightning around his arm and swung it. Keiji darted forward toward Kasumi, who had yelled out to him as she was approaching their foe. The blade crackled through the air, sending thin bolts of lightning jumping around.

     Keiji met their trajectory and slid behind the Chuunin's back, avoiding the majority of the electricity save for the jolt carried through the fog. When it'd dissipated, he used the cover of her back to form handseals unseen.

     From their foe's perspective, two Keijis bounded out from each side of Kasumi and leaped to either side of him - arms wide, tanto in hand, aiming to grab him or to kill outright. If he could see through, he'd see they bore a sickly grin.

     "Straight ahead of you!" they both called out in a tone that sounded far more playful than the situation called for, in case her sensory was unable to pinpoint the man's exact location. The two Kuronmeru would box the man in and ideally, restrain him for Kasumi to deliver a killing blow.

With both having dodged the attack, the man was feeling a bit frustrated but beyond that they were coming to try and overpower him. Something that he would not allow to happen. Utilizing a fairly simple technique but one that was useful for multiple enemies and even weapons at once, he would swing his sword in such a way that it seemed very simple - with little time to react too - but in truth it would be able to block out the majority of the attacks. Both of the clones would likely find themselves swept up in the arc of the sword since they were leaping from the air, destroying them. Meanwhile Kasumi would find that she would get in one cursory hit of her sword that would draw blood, the rest however glanced off of this masterful sword arc.

Kasumi especially would find that the man was incredibly strong, way stronger than her and the special jounin that she was fighting with. Just the arc itself with the push of the sword would send her backwards or at the very least off balance that she would have to quickly regain. Though this could also very well impede Keiji who was directly behind Kasumi in the moment as he had run to avoid the Raiton. This raw power would definitely be hard to deal with.

But the man wasn't willing to let them recover as he would send a chakra blast towards the pair powerful enough to really do some damage if they did not scramble out of the way.

Both Kasumi and Keiji take a semi-decent hit from the lightning - though it is not direct. They attempt a solid team effort but their enemy is quite good at close-quarter combat, showing not only how easily he can parry a sword and all other incoming attacks but also his raw strength. His parry can send Kasumi back stumbling into Keiji and before either can recover he sends another technique after them.

This released chakra is capable of great destruction as these projectiles are capable of completely penetrating large stone pillars and still travel in their intended direction.

     The enemy's swing dissipated the clone Keiji had made, but there was no second - he himself had jumped along with the clone. No Keiji had been hiding behind Kasumi.

     The tail end of the swing brought it into Keiji's ribcage, where it lodged itself into place as his Black Defense technique - late, because of the speed of the swing - took effect and locked the blade into place as the blood hardened and Keiji's muscles tightened around the steel.

     His hands shot out for the guard and handle, Keiji attempting to force him to either allow himself to be stuck in place or to leave the blade behind. Ideally, at least the delay would allow Kasumi to attack and for the man's plans to be interrupted. With the blade locked in place, and Keiji restraining his ability to pull it out, even someone with great strength would likely struggle to remove it.

     Yet Keiji knew the man was a swordsman, with Raiton to boot. As soon as his hands would touch the blade, he attempted to flood it with Doton chakra in order to neutralize any Raiton the man might try to use to pull it out of or slice through Keiji.
