NISSHOKU: THE BATTLE FOR MISHIMA"burn with ambition." This is a crime board intended for use by Nakajima Seika and her Cult of the White Flame, for purposes of taking over the southern isles of Kaminari no Kuni, including the fishing hamlet of Mishima, for use as the Cult’s base of operations. Should Seika and her Cult successfully complete all six missions on the board, the isles will formally become her territory. This will lead into an event in which Kumogakure attempts to reclaim the isles and drive the White Flame from their shores.
Counter-missions are included in the board and are claimable by Kumogakure shinobi and allies. Allies may only participate if at least one Kumogakure shinobi is involved with counter-mission. Counter-missions are limited to participants of chuunin rank or higher.

MISSION RANK: BNPC REQUIREMENT: YESPARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [NAKAJIMA SEIKA AND ALLIES]DESCRIPTION:Though the islands are small and sparsely populated, there is still a nominal force of shinobi stationed in and around Mishima. In order to make headway in her conquering of the isles, Seika must first establish a foothold in the southern part of the island chain in order to scout for information, understand the landscape, and begin formulating her strategy. Potential threats include local pirates who use the isles as a base of operations, Kumogakure shinobi stationed nearby, and the monstrously huge beasts that are rumored to populate the island chain.

COUNTER: BREAKING GROUND MISSION RANK: B NPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-2 [KUMOGAKURE AND ALLIES] DESCRIPTION:Naval scouts have turned in reports of seeing a massive warship flying unknown colors sailing along Kaminari no Kuni’s southern coast. Its occupants and mission are unknown. Discover where the ship made anchor, identify its captain, and ascertain its mission. Avoid confrontation unless absolutely necessary—we need to know what we’re up against. CONQUERING THE WILDS MISSION RANK: B NPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [NAKAJIMA SEIKA AND ALLIES] REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of BREAKING GROUND. DESCRIPTION:Information gathered in her survey of the isles has proven that the isles are, in fact, home to monstrously huge beasts—while Mishima itself is well-fortified against them, the rest of the isles have no such benefits. Before she can begin base-building and preparing her assault on the town, she must dominate the local landscape, and bring the wildlife to heel. Potential threats include Kumogakure shinobi and local pirates, but the primary opposition should be a series of terrifying beasts: preternaturally massive wolves, cougars, and moose roam the forests of the isles. Danger lurks in the waters as well, in the form of deadly sharks and killer whales.

COUNTER: CONQUERING THE WILDS MISSION RANK: B NPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-2 [KUMOGAKURE AND ALLIES] DESCRIPTION:The shape of this counter-mission depends on the results of COUNTER: BREAKING GROUND. If information on Seika and her allies was gathered and reported back to Kumogakure, then shinobi are instructed to tail the ship’s captain and attempt to sabotage her efforts. This can be achieved through agitating the local wildlife, or sabotaging the ship, but confrontation with the captain herself should be avoided until more is known about the captain's background and abilities.
If information on Seika and her allies was unable to be gathered, then the mission priority of COUNTER: BREAKING GROUND remains in place, with the main objective of participating shinobi being reconnaissance on the ship and its captain.
SOWING DISSENT MISSION RANK: BNPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [NAKAJIMA SEIKA AND ALLIES]REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of CONQUERING THE WILDS.DESCRIPTION:Though Mishima is the hub of civilization on the southern isles, small fishing hamlets and other off-the-grid villages are dotted all throughout the small island chain. Many of the locals who live in the area are disenfranchised, dissatisfied with the shinobi presence in their ancestral home and eager to reclaim their shores for their own. If Seika is able to rally the locals to her cause, she will have greater access to resources and support when the time comes to claim the islands for her own. Potential threats might include stationed Kumogakure shinobi in addition to raucous locals who are unpersuaded by Seika's attempt to win their favor. If the locals are killed or unable to be persuaded to Nisshoku's cause, this mission will be a failure. Failing this mission still allows Nisshoku to progress to the next mission, but they will suffer a disadvantage in the battles to come. COUNTER: SOWING DISSENT MISSION RANK: BNPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-2 [KUMOGAKURE AND ALLIES]DESCRIPTION:Reports have made their way to Sancho of grumblings amongst the rural populace of the islands surrounding the town of Mishima. Tensions are starting to come to a head, and the Ashigaru stationed in Mishima are beginning to fear a revolt. Shinobi are being dispatched to try to get to the bottom of the civilians’ displeasure and soothe the tensions there. While the Daimyo has called for the heads of the dissenters, the Raikage has made it quietly known that she would prefer this conflict resolved as bloodlessly as possible. Find the source of the growing unrest and attempt to rekindle the locals’ loyalty to Kaminari no Kuni, and to Kumogakure. If the locals are killed or choose to ally with Nisshoku, this mission will be counted as a failure. alpha priority. RAZING THE BATTLEFIELDS MISSION RANK: ANPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [NAKAJIMA SEIKA AND ALLIES]REQUIREMENTS: Completion of SOWING DISSENT.DESCRIPTION:Before the final attack on Mishima can be launched, the nearby Ashigaru outpost must be eliminated. A token team of shinobi is stationed alongside the Daimyo’s forces, and getting rid of them will only make it easier to wipe out the rest once it’s time to march on the village proper. The outpost is an old, small camp consisting of only two buildings and a watchtower; one of the buildings is in dire need of repairs, on the brink of crumbling away into the sea. Once the shinobi are dealt with, capturing it should be no issue, and it can be reclaimed as a base of operations from which the final assault can be launched. COUNTER: RAZING THE BATTLEFIELDS MISSION RANK: ANPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-2 [KUMOGAKURE AND ALLIES]DESCRIPTION:Nisshoku is growing more bold in their presence on the island, and the stationed Ashigaru fear that their outpost is likely to be attacked soon. Help shore up the outpost’s defenses and defend it from the invaders.
Losing the outpost or allowing all of the defending NPC Ashigaru and shinobi to die will result in mission failure. JOIN OR BURN MISSION RANK: ANPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [NAKAJIMA SEIKA AND ALLIES]REQUIREMENTS: Completion of RAZING THE BATTLEFIELDS.DESCRIPTION:Having successfully built up a beachhead on the island of Mishima, Seika and Nisshoku's forces must now deal with the local band of pirates infesting the waters around the isle. These pirates are infamous in Kaminari no Kuni for having access to shinobi training--many of them are from the Ryujin, Kagayaku, and Mayonaka clans, and they may feature nuke-nin amongst their number. Seek them out and deal with them by any means necessary, be it recruiting them to the cause or slaughtering them to the man. Additionally, the beachhead on Mishima must be protected during this task- if Nisshoku's forces are pushed off the island during the mission, it is considered a failure.
If RAZING THE BATTLEFIELDS was successfully completed, Nisshoku's base of operations will be a conquered and fortified Ashigaru outpost, and it will be more difficult for the counter team to succeed in driving them from the island. COUNTER: JOIN OR BURN MISSION RANK: ANPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-2 [KUMOGAKURE AND ALLIES]DESCRIPTION:By this point, the threat that Nakajima Seika and her gang poses to Mishima is known, yet it seems there is still time to rally Mishima’s defenses and press back against her assault. Kumogakure’s mission is twofold: recruit the local pirates to our cause in defense of our nation, and drive Nisshoku’s forces from the island. The less stable their footing, the better off we all are.
If the pirates are killed or the countering team is unable to drive Nisshoku from the island, this mission is considered a failure. THE BATTLE FOR MISHIMA MISSION RANK: SNPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [NAKAJIMA SEIKA AND ALLIES]REQUIREMENTS: Completion of MISSION NAME.DESCRIPTION:The time has come: in order to truly claim the isles as her own, Seika must eliminate the last bastion of shinobi forces in Mishima. Rally your forces and march on the village to claim what you’ve rightfully conquered. Mishima is a fishing village with few defenses, but roughly thirty Kumogakure shinobi are stationed therein, and reinforces from Kumogakure itself are likely on the way. It will be a difficult battle, but the work you’ve done up until this point will aid you in your goal.
Nisshoku's forces will be at varying degrees of strength depending on the success of the missions up until this point.
SOWING DISSENT: If the local's allegiance to Nisshoku was won, Nisshoku will have access to insurgents posing as regular civilians within Mishima that will launch a surprise attack when Nisshoku marches on Mishima.
RAZING THE BATTLEFIELDS: If the Ashigaru outpost is conquered, Nisshoku is able to use it as their base of operations as they prepare to march on Mishima. This allows The Iron Moon to launch a flanking attack from the sea.
JOIN OR BURN: If the pirates were recruited to Nisshoku's cause, the team will have the additional support of one B-Rank and one A-rank nuke-nin NPC who were featured in and survived the events of JOIN OR BURN. COUNTER: THE BATTLE FOR MISHIMA MISSION RANK: SNPC REQUIREMENT: YES PARTICIPANTS: 1-3 [KUMOGAKURE AND ALLIES]REQUIREMENTS: Completion of MISSION NAME.DESCRIPTION:Nisshoku is making its final assault against Mishima. It’s do or die: if the cult takes the village, Kumogakure’s forces will be forced to give up the southern isles and flee to the mainland.
The shinobi stationed in Kumogakure will be at varying degrees of strength depending on the success of the counter-missions up until this point.
COUNTER: BREAKING GROUND: Success of this counter mission allows for Kumogakure to bring one additional PC during COUNTER: THE BATTLE FOR MISHIMA.
COUNTER: CONQUERING THE WILDS: If The Iron Moon was sabotaged during this mission, Nisshoku will have access to less NPC support during THE BATTLE FOR MISHIMA. [PC count is not being reduced in order to allow for greater nuke-nin player participation.]
COUNTER: SOWING DISSENT: If the locals’ allegiance to Kumogakure was won, Mishima has access to greater structural defenses such as walls and ramparts that otherwise would not have existed, and the stationed NPC shinobi and Ashigaru will have a stronger morale and fighting spirit.
COUNTER: RAZING THE BATTLEFIELDS: If the integrity of the Ashigaru outpost is maintained, the countering team will be able to have a small squad of NPC forces launch a flanking attack on Nisshoku's forces during the battle.
COUNTER: JOIN OR BURN: If the pirates were recruited to Kumogakure’s cause, the countering team will have the additional support of one B-Rank and one A-rank nuke-nin NPC who were featured in and survived the events of JOIN OR BURN.
