He could see the emotions on her face, even if they were small movements of her face moving to respond or the difference between acceptance and perhaps even disappointment, it was hard to tell given her resting face. What he had absolutely noticed was her once more looking over at this other person in the room, making him once more look towards them and narrow his eyes. He wasn't sure exactly who this guy was outside of a name, but he seemed to have a large metal rod shoved right up his backside.
"To an extent, he's right, but with all due respect, I would say for all he likely has good intentions, you can't be expected to learn by just doing and hoping it works out. I didn't directly have someone help me craft my armor, but I certainly had others helping me along the way in other ways that at the time I simply couldn't do alone, or even knew that I needed to do them."
Turning and reaching out his arm, giving a heavy knock against the armor behind him, he fully turned towards it, walking back some to lift one of the arms.
"The articulation points of the elbow for example, while seemingly simple are rather intricate, and I crafted them with my own hands, but it's the knowledge I had help with. The alloy used after much trial and error with guidance, or the help I needed from a few shinobi with a far stronger grasp on katon than myself to understand how to not only melt such an alloy but how to strengthen it afterwards to not make it immediately brittle."
Gentle lowering the arm, he turned back, immediately glaring at Kazeo with some feeling of protection over his cousin, not actually knowing how close of a relation Kazeo himself might have as well. He was certainly biting his tongue despite what he had just said, wanting to be less reserved and tell the man to stuff it up his ass, but it wasn't as if he didn't have his own traditions he held tight enough to leave figurative fingerprints.
"It is certainly important to craft your armor with your own two hands, that much is true. I certainly had help in many ways with my own, but it wouldn't be my own had I not done it myself. That said, if you need any help otherwise, I'll be here for a few days, and no reason I can't make my way back. And you are more than welcome to come and visit us in Iwa."
His attention was back on Nashida once more, and even through his previous obvious glaring, the large grin on his face had never wavered. Her feat wasn't the most impressive he had seen, but he understood the point of it all the same, and was about to comment on it before this Kazeo once again gave his signal of disapproval, causing the grin to fade some, a visible quiver to his lip even through the bandages.
"I'm sure you'll get there. I would suggest finding a bit more positive feedback, however. Criticism alone can certainly stifle growth and absolutely stifles creativity, which can be an important part of growth. Doing things wrong, doing things differently, doing things uniquely is as much a part of learning the right way than only following the perfect steps."
The entire time he was speaking, he was staring a hole in Kazeo, slowly but surely making his annoyance more obvious. He had come to talk with Nashida, and was starting to feel like she was holding in more and more as the conversation continued because of this stick in the mud.
