appearance HEIGHT: 5'8" | cm WEIGHT: 144lbs | kg The first thing someone would notice about Ryuusumi are her smooth, black horns. They stick out on either side of her crown, curving inward - two sharp nubs grow from the out sides, one close to her head and the other half way up each horn's base. They are durable, made of bone with a cuticle film covering their hearts.  Sumi is a pretty young thing. She has incredibly long, crimson hair that falls in layers all around her face and frame. It's a bit unruly, even if she does her best to maintain it - locks stick out here and there, and her fringe often gets in her face. Her eyes are slanted almonds and shine an amethyst purple. Her face tapers gently, her small nose and red lips looking somewhat pursed and pouty. She has a thin neck, slender shoulders, and a lithe if not somewhat curvy frame. Her legs and arms are long, as are her spidery fingers and toes. Sumi's skin is peachy tan, looking somewhat porcelain - looks are deceiving however, and her skin proves to be a bit rough to the touch. Admittedly, Sumi wears a lot of black. She wears a sort of plain halter top and flared skirt over a white petticoat. It is entirely unassuming, until you add all the buckles and belts fastened across her body to keep everything in place. Notably, there is a belt over her exposed chest, two over her waist, and two over each thigh to keep her stockings up. Her combat boots are bulky, and her overcoat is large and swallows her whole. Sumi does not wear a hitai-ate; instead she wears a collar complete with a Konohagakure insignia as its tag.

personality NINDO: "Everything you need is yours." Fiery; all things blazing hot and dangerous. Sumi has a loud personality, and she is not afraid to show it. She lights up a room, though it's not certain whether this is good or bad - she turns heads, but again, is it good or bad? She has a sort of abrasive nature about her, and she exudes the weight of something greater. Like a true dragon, she reigns over others and shows impressive prowess in both physical and mental worlds. Amazingly, she is all bark and also some bite. She talks big, gets into situations that should be detrimental for her; but she lashes out with a spirit just as strong as her word. For as hot-headed and rambunctious as she is, Sumi is surprisingly very deep and thoughtful. She spends her nights reflecting, on herself and the universe itself. She seems to have a deep understanding of emotions, people, her own philosophy. All around, Ryuusumi is grounded, and so secretly she is in control. Even when she is angry and bitter, there is a reserved serenity.  Much like many of the Sō, Sumi is fiercely loyal, protective, forthright. There is a strong sense of duty roaring from within her core; and to Konohagakure she has dedicated her life and service. Unfortunately, her methods are a little unorthodox. She is domineering, somewhat aggressive, and a little mean. As easy as it is for her to be kind, it is easy to be cruel - and she does not dish what she cannot take. Ryuusumi is hardened against insult and insubordination, but in the face of these she only grows more wicked. If she deems someone unworthy, especially if she deems them disloyal to Leaf, Sumi is not at all afraid to use force. Relationships are easy to create, hard to maintain. Sumi is low-effort and does not require much from peers or loved ones. Alternatively, she does not give much; not because she is lacking in consideration, but because she weighs it on a scale. Who deserves her affection? Who deserves her time? She is mythical, she is legendary; she can only grace others so liberally with this awesome essence.

history -father (Sō hakuryu) is a hardened man and served in two wars for konoha. mother (niwa moe) is a jounin he falls in love with and marries after the war. -they have sumi somewhere in their early forties after the war -born with lil nub horns hehe -raised with the serve and protect konoha mentality - her father is a hard-ass and out of touch with his emotions but he tries hard to instill ideology in sumi. mother is sort of absent emotionally, distant and far away - but she tries too. -enrolled in academy at 4 -does rly good in school, gets good grades - but she suffers socially, and scares the other children with her outbursts. at first she was bullied for her horns, then she breathed fire on one little kid and then she just couldnt make friends lol. kids called her "mouth breather" -graduate to genin at 8 -put in genin team 6 under niwa moe (her mother) with an uchiha tsuneo and ozaki misamu, doesnt get along with the uchiha but has a crush on misamu who is cool and collected, unfortunately they are both like three years older than her -dedicated to her duty and does rly well blah blah, exceptional ninja even at 8. sensei is impressed; puts her and not her older teammates through chuunins when she is only 9 -it's out of country and sumi does a little poorly socially; though she is an exceptional ninja, she's kind of just an angry kid and doesn't know how to integrate with people. she is rude to non-leaf individuals and in the chuunins themselves she does not want to work with anyone. she does rly good in them, but she is not passed due only to her needing to get better manners lmao -trains for a few more years, works on attitude. mother/sensei is closer than she ever was as sumi grows a little better. it encourages sumi to continue doing better -it takes a few years to really work on her emotions though - she goes through therapy lol -tries chuunins again at 13 -shows improvement, doesnt lash out at foreigners, works with her team. in the final rounds, she is pitted against someone much younger and weaker - she forfeits the match instead of landing a finishing blow because she doesnt want to hurt the kid -promoted to chuunin! -put on ops team 2 -exceptional ninja, puts her foot forward and tries to make connections. schmoozes hokage and turns into one of her personal attack dogs -after a few years of being a forward shinobi, hokage picks out a 17 year old sumi for the barrier corps -starts her apprenticeship -saves an important figurehead in an impromptu interception that sumi happened to be on site for - though she brutally kills someone, she is hailed heroic at 19 -promoted to sp. jounin

fighting style Much like a true dragon, Ryuusumi focuses on the elements, strength, and agility. Not only does she boast impressive flames and force, but Sumi is also an incredibly heavy hitter. Her brute strength is nearly unmatched, and she relies heavily on it - her aim is to break bones, incapacitate, and destroy. She is not afraid to beat a foe into a bloody pulp; she is not afraid to get her hands wet with blood. Ryuusumi is not afraid to kill. Sumi can cover all ranges of combat; long-distance requires projectiles, breath attacks, and cunning. Medium-range requires nearly the same, or her long dragon's tail when it is manifested. Close-range, she uses her heavy fists and elemental prowess, as well as any assortment of weapons available to her. Sumi is also liable to utilize a little bit of genjutsu, mostly for flare, evasion, or distraction.  Her approach is fast, strong, unrelenting. She is brutish and aggressive. She doesn't stop until the job is done. Truthfully, Ryuusumi is a scary opponent only because she does not hold back, nor back down - unless, of course, she knows she is outmatched. Sumi is not stupid, even if trigger-happy. It does not wound her pride to step away from a fight she knows she will lose. Ryuusumi has her glaring weaknesses. When her scales are activated, they are susceptible to water damage - and she is open to anything that gets beneath these scales. Though she can match long-range, it is her weakest point on the battlefield. Bows and their arrows are one of her worst enemies.

After a long line of ancestors before her integrating with the dragon realm, Sumi's namesake has manifested in two horns sprouted from her head. This mythological endowment grants her to several different abilities, including the creation of reptile-esque scales that are stronger than steel. They are strong against fire and heat, as well as slashing type and some blunt blows. Additionally, Sumi is capable of utilizing any breath technique instantly, without the use of handseals. Enhanced Chakra Reserves  Sumi was born with a blessing of chakra; it's thought to come from her dragon lineage and their legendary strength and stamina. Sumi has twofold the normal chakra pool and can not only cast higher rank jutsu with a slight decrease in chakra usage, but continue using chakra-based jutsu for longer than average. Her chakra is an overwhelming aura, and when visible, appears almost like flames. Enhanced Strength Having trained her body for utmost strength, and with the heart and soul of a dragon, Sumi is devastatingly strong. Not only can her punches cause serious damage, she's able to pick up anything under nearly three times her weight. Sensor Jammer By flooding her massive chakra pool outward, Sumi can throw off a sensor. This constant flow of chakra makes it difficult for a sensor-nin to detect the target's exact location. With concentration and an additional expenditure of chakra, this range can be increased to help cloud the chakra signatures of allies as well. Passively, Sumi's chakra exudes outward 50m. When she concentrates, she can cover a 100m radius. TRAITS Locked.
