takigakure no sato history Before the Founding of Takigakure no Sato While Takigakure was established in 940, the nation of Bonchi no Kuni was already an active part of the shinobi world well before having affirmed itself as a founded village. Upon the construction of its small establishment within the vast collection of waterfalls surrounding it, the location was picked directly due to its understanding of a mysterious emission of chakra, emitting directly from a giant tree at the center of the surrounding cavernous area. This protection, allowed for many of its current clans to establish their claims and slowly collect themselves into a united nation. However, it did not come without an internal struggle. As the years passed, two prominent families existed within the area, the Mikatakujira Clan, known for its vast knowledge of medical techniques, and the Yamakira, the outsider clan that had been brought in originally by the Mikatakujira. In the beginning, Takigakure had been no more than a crater whose heart was based near a giant tree. The Mikatakujira had pilgrimed to Bonchi no Kuni more than a century ago, making the region their home upon learning of the healing properties of the tree's dew. Upon realizing its natural defenses to keep itself and those within its presence safe from detection, the clan would settle there on the direction of its leader, Mikatakujira Motonobu. Motonobu was a man of great ambition, but also an obsessive compulsion toward myth and legend. His development of many of the greater techniques through the use of the Great Tree greatly aided in the health and well-being of his clan, but in the end, his drive for more pushed him to darker experimentation. One such experiment in which he used his own daughter, Yosaiyama, as a test subject. In an act that should have been the crowning achievement, he would find the effort only leading to his death by his own child's hands, her being now transformed by the Jiongu [Earth Fear Grudge] technique which he had created. Her mind now split into two, her being changed forever, she would never reveal the events of what took place when she was located without him weeks later. She would only note that her father was killed in the process of his experiment by his own hands. However, this death would mark the young girl's rise as she would later become the new Clan Head. Founding of Takigakure no Sato [940 yr] It was under the leadership of Mikatakujira Yosaiyama, who would help to establish a relationship with the outsider Yamakira Clan, she and their leader would work together to forge a better future for both their clans, holding a friendship that would prompt the growth for both through usages of each other's skills. The medical talents of the Mikatakujira and the poisonous, yet militia-like traits, created a new generation of warriors and shinobi that benefited from each other. Their cooperation helped to gain wealth throughout Bonchi no Kuni. But along with them, the world itself begins to change around them. During the First Summit of the Five Great Shinobi Nations, Yosaiyama would not be in attendance, as the Mikatakujira and Yamakira would be in mourning for the loss of the Yamakira Clan Head, and her dear friend. This shift would prompt his son to take such a place and she would continue her relationship with the Clan, and both would continue in their growth, despite the loss of such a great leader. But in the progressing world of shinobi, time waits for no one and eventually, the two clans began to see villages arising from what had at one time been areas of nothing. Before long, they began to see their amassing forces and the two began to craft a plan in which to help defend their land from these changes. Which was to solidify an official force of their own. In approaching the Damiyo within the capital fortress in Nishama-jo, the Mikatakujira and Yamakira leaders would present their idea of a united front within Bonchi no Kuni, and the importance of a shinobi village of their own. They spoke of the benefits of not only trade but also the fact that he would know have an army upon which to call if required. With the looming threat of the appearance of weakness without it, and the growing villages that surrounded them, as well as helping to cover the costs of such an investment, Yosaiyama and her counterpart were successful in gaining permission to establish such a place, thus began the creation of Takigakure no Sato. Built within two parts, the main village itself was constructed within the area that surrounded the Great Tree, housing most of the civilian population and their forces. But, as a means to better protect themselves, it was decided that a second location was also to be created. This counterpart of the actual village was made with the idea of being a fortress rather than a civilian village. It was a normal sight in the unforgiving land. This outer village would be the one handling all the contracts, with a few traders and civilians making up homes here, while Shinobi made up the rest of the temporary residents, cycling from the main village every now and again. Traveling between the two villages, and using each one to help hold their ideal presentation of strength, Takigakure would continue to thrive with its established trading system and now complete militia to complete missions with the usages of their gathering from minor clans across the land, to Missing-nin who wished to have a place to consider their home. First Lady of Takigakure no Sato [940 yr] The achievement of building the villages would also come with the decision to have Mikatakujira Yosaiyama become the First Lady of Takigakure, solidifying her place in history firmly. Using her lust for knowledge and her prior experience as a Clan Leader, Yosaiyama would broker a relationship with both Kiragakure and Yugakure within her first year of leadership. This would aid in building up the resources and influence of Takigakure, creating prosperity across Bonchi no Kuni. Through their trading relationship, Takigakure would also find an alliance with the newly formed Hoshigakure a year later. However with great success, came great challenges as the tension between two of the Great Shinobi Nations, Konohagakure no Sato and Iwagakure no Sato began to show itself. First Shinobi War [942 yr to 946 yr] As Konohagakure and Iwagakure and their alliances drew into conflict on the battlefield, Bonchi no Kuni remained relatively out of interest in terms of a proper battleground, though upon their attack of Yu no Kuni drawing the attention of Hoshigakure's allies, Takigakure would come to the aid of its new ally. This would be Yosaiyama's entrance into the First Shinobi War. Working closely with the First Mizukage, she would learn battle tactics to better engage the advancing forces of Kumogakure and Konohagakure. Though through the combat, Yosaiyama would lose her heart in battle, though would replace it with that of the First Raikage upon killing them. Taking this opportunity with the loss of their leader, Takigakure would aid Kirigakure in striking at the now weakened Kumogakure, with Yosaiyama still fighting on the frontlines and delivering a decisive blow against the village. Yosaiyama would follow this with going after Sunagakure as well, who attempted to attack their borders. This would lead Yosaiyama and Takigakure to cross into the Lands of Fields, believing it was time to take the fight away from home and strike at the Village Hidden in the Sands. With her leading the charge, the long drawn-out battle through Kusagakure would soon take them into Kaze no Kuni. While desert fighting was something that her people were very unused to, they would persevere, despite great losses. The fighting on this new front became thick and brutal, with even the Shodai Kazekage becoming involved. The Old Chikamatsu would be the second Kage to fall to Yōsaiyama. Again she’d find herself standing atop the broken body of a Leader of one of the Major Shinobi villages, his heart already plucked from his chest before being swallowed by the giant. The end of the war would soon follow. With two of the five Kage dead by her hand, and the rest of them either dead or their countries crippled by losses would call a ceasefire. Though it was a stalemate, and their population had taken a massive hit, Yōsaiyama and her fellow Takigakure Shinobi were filled with pride with just how well they fought, showing a Major Village like Kumogakure that they should not be taken lightly. Many villages were in a time of recovery, and the loss of the First Mizukage was one that would slowly change the relationship between Kirigakure and Takigakure as time progressed. The Alliance of the Three [946 yr] After the War Takigakure would find itself on the upswing, their population had taken a great blow, but the fame they got during the war enticed clients to hire their Shinobi. Of course, Yōsaiyama herself was glad for the turnout, while her village’s population was rebuilding itself, she pushed a few little bonuses to families who produced children to be trained in the Shinobi Academy. The woman would take the time to make sure her country was adequately enforced. Having learned much from her allies during the last war, as well as fighting side by side with them, she was rather put off by the Second Mizukage’s behavior. With the man severing his alliances with the other villages after the war, Yōsaiyama would have her village retract any trading that had been going on between the two. Finding herself without allies the woman would look closer to home. Iwagakure, one of the strongest Major Villages as well as their neighbor. With Iwa focused on Konoha during the war, the two villages had only had minor clashes along their borders, so it seemed like the logical choice. Meeting with the newly christened Nidaime Tsuchikage, Kamizuru Akatsuchi, a man she had only heard about during the war. The Taki Lady would point out the reasons for a beneficial alliance between their villages. Not only did her village form a buffer zone between Konoha and Iwa along with Amegakure, Forcing Konoha Shinobi to have to go through Kusagakure lest they suffer enemy attacks. But trade between the three would keep each other’s nations strong enough to repel any eastern invaders. Apparently, it had made sense to the Tsuchikage, as the two were soon allied, with Yōsaiyama meeting with the Current Lord of Amegakure at the time, completing the alliance of the three western powers. Of course, during this time of peace, more Shinobi villages started popping up. The one that worried her the most was Otogakure. With only the Land of Forests separating the two villages, the woman would keep a close eye on her new neighbors. Rampage of the Nibi [975 yr] It was also during this time of peace that the Nibi would start to rampage. Although normally quiet, with only a scant few sightings of the great cat having ever been seen, it had started to cut a swatch through the nation. The Daimyo, fearing for his life would call upon his Shinobi to get rid of the beast before it caused any more harm. Yōsaiyama with the best Seal Masters that her village had to offer at the time would go face the beast in combat. For three days and three nights, they fought, using multiple seals to try and trap the beast. One after the other the Great Nibi broke through the seals, Until the Masters and Yōsaiyama concocted a nearly unbreakable seal. After all was said and done the Tailed Beast was sealed into a Puzzle box with the Forty-Seven Punishments of Heaven and Earth Seal. With the beast trapped, and soon returned to Takigakure Yōsaiyama would set her very best on studying the beast, hoping to gain its power if another war broke loose. And break loose it did, after two and a half decades, an altercation between Konoha and Iwa would soon drag the world back into the throws of war. Strongly allied with Iwagakure she and her village would find them dragged in against Konoha and its allies beside their own. Second Shinobi War [ 971 yr to 976 yr] This would be the start of the Second Shinobi War, and with Yosaiyama's alliances shifted, it would change the dynamic of this confrontation with her now standing beside Iwagakure, with its allies in Kusagakure and Kumogakure. While she was wary of their new allies, the heavy fighting against Konoha and its own allies assuaged her fears during the course of the war. Along with this, the first Jinchūriki of the Nibi would come into play. While Yōsaiyama had ordered experiments done on the beast and its chakra, sealing away samples for later use, the War made it necessary for them to harness the full power of the beast, and what better way than through a Jinchūriki? Transferring the seal over to a human host, Yōsaiyama's efforts to procure a suitable host for the beast would be thwarted by the seal. With the Nibi being rather weak in power, and the seal being strong enough to keep it down, the first host was unable to draw even a drop of chakra out. Sadly the Bijuu had to be extracted and so the seal was undone. It was now up to the Seal Masters to develop a weaker seal, especially for a Jinchūriki. As they were doing this, Yōsaiyama would be drawn back into the battle for the ninja world once more. While aiding her allies, she would be the one to work with the Jinchuuriki, training the container herself for use in the war. The new Jinchūriki would be met with rousing success, providing a powerful tool to their side. However, with the death of the Lord of Yugakure, the Second War would end. Along with the Rest of the Lords, Ladies, and Kage Yōsaiyama would sign the peace agreement in honor of the late Yugakure Lord. In the year after the war, Takigakure would lick its wounds, the woman and her cohorts experimenting with making a better Nibi host in the meantime. The success of the transfer had been something that Yosaiyama had wished to record for future usage, though there was little time for her to do so as a year after the end of the second war, another would begin with Sunagakure being the cause. After sending assassins to kill the leaders of its enemies from the last war (Iwagakure, Kumogakure, Amegakure, Kusagakure, and Ishigakure), with some of these attempts succeeding, the fragile peace treaty had been dissolved. Third Shinobi War [977 yr to 990 yr] Still, weary and recuperating Takigakure would get hit hard by a new war just after the second. With Yōsaiyama taking back to the field, accompanying her past allies as they once again dove headfirst into war. Taki suffered heavy losses, even losing their Jinchuriki in the process. Of course, Yōsaiyama would lead the fight for her people, the woman fighting alongside the Second Tsuchikage and the Lord of Amegakure. Forging a close rapport with the other two world leaders, they would serve side by side in the years of heavy fighting. After the war was over Takigakure, like all of the other villages, had suffered debilitating losses. Putting together a new reform, the woman would try and bolster her village numbers, encouraging her surviving villagers to produce children, as well as traveling the lands of Bonchi no Kuni and other nations, gathering up Orphans from the war. Rakubatsu Zofuna [990 yr to 1013 yr] One child would eventually draw her attention, finding the little girl wandering outside of one of the most accursed spots in Bonchi no Kuni, The Black Garden. The girl seemed harmless at first, and while those in her retinue at the time advised on killing her, as nothing good could come from that place, Yōsaiyama would do differently. Smiling she’d take the girl back to the village, she would make a good addition the giant was sure. Of course, when a medical Shinobi informed her of something growing inside the girl, the Lady knew she definitely came across something special. Of course what they found was something she definitely did not expect, but pleased her all the same. The little girl apparently had murdered her watcher and knew her name, Rakubatsu Zofuna. She showed promise, a six-year-old being able to put down a trained medical professional. Seeing the potential for the young girl Yōsaiyama would set her to immediately study chakra and medicine, as well as the Shinobi arts. They needed a new replacement in the Medical Corps after all. Caring for the girl, Yōsaiyama would split her lordly duties with the act of child-rearing. With her village recovering and even more bases built throughout the country, the woman would take time to take care of her child, sending out the rumor that she had been killed in a power struggle in Takigakure if only to give her some time to raise her adoptive daughter. This rumor would be sent out across the shinobi nations and eventually was believed to be the truth. Yet, aside from those of Takigakure and the Damiyo, the woman was still very much alive and had only begun to work outside of the light that came with leadership. But, this was only until the time in which she began her retirement, and with it came the return of the one man who bested her in combat so long ago Second Lord of Takigakure no Sato[1013 yr to 1024 yr] There is a story that some years ago, while Yosaiyama was still in power and the world was aware of her name and place, a young man appeared as if from out of nowhere. No one was fully aware of where or when he came, only that he had taken the place of the previous Sage that had served Bonchi no Kuni for some time. But in his eyes, the cold depths that seemed to go on forever laid a past that tied him to this land, and a heavy desire to claim it as his own. His name was lost to time, but those who saw him knew him only as Ryu... He was not born in Takigakure, but from one of the minor villages that used to exist, but no longer. Any real truth of his origins had been cleared and even had they not, no one would be able to confirm their truth. But his strength and skill as a shinobi were proven through his training and during his service within the village upon his arrival. Though any who saw him knew he was driven and when he wanted something, he would get it without little regard to anyone. So then the question remained of why he was there. Such a mystery would soon be solved by a conflict between Yosaiyama and The Ryu, started over the fact that he had believed the village leader had gotten complacent in her leadership, how she did not recognize him as more than just a solider to use at her choosing. It was an insult to him and one that deemed time to correct. Their battle would shake the very foundations of Bonchi no Kuni, leading to ash raining down from the heavens. In the end, The Ryu was victorious... and defeated the Lord of Takigakure. Yet before he would deal the final blow, something possessed him to stop. He would simply leave the woman, disappearing as silently as he had arrived years prior. Some say that it was due to him wishing not to kill the woman, respecting her strength enough to allow her to live. Others claim it had much to do with the fact that he had not won at all, and was told to live in exile. But in truth, the victor had indeed been the young man, but the call of his Lizard Elder prompted his leave, but he did not leave without anything. He gave his word that he would not kill the woman, but he would have Takigakure... upon the moment she retired... making him her sole successor in power. This was the tale that spread across Bonchi no Kuni, though, in his return to the village ten years later, his training now completed, he would once again work within the village, but by then everyone knew the man's name. In her retirement, The Ryu ascended to Lordship over Takigakure and acted according to his desires. He would aid in the Iwagakure Civil War, placing secret support to ensure that the rebels led by Tantetsu Toshu were successful in their coup against the previous Tschikage, eventually doing the same in support of Yutakako Takara. He would also take on an apprentice, Yutakako Keiko, to be the next Ryu upon his death. In the years to follow, he would also recreate the alliance between Takigakure and Kirigakure. Third Lady of Takigakure no Sato [1024 yr to now] In January of the year 1024, Mikatakujira Kunikunosaku took over the title of the Third Lady of Takigakure. *Permission to repost for ease of updating/editing by Yofie.
