kanna is a short, slim teenaged boy with an overall androgynous appearance and a fair skin tone. their long raven hair is worn in a ponytail, with the tips of his hair painted white and giving the appearance of a paintbrush. both his fingernails and toenails are painted a matching tone of black and his eyes are of a crystal amber color, turning white when his byakugan is active. his fingers are noticeably calloused as a result of intense physical training and the top of his head is adorned with an ahoge.
when on missions and tending to his activities as a member of team 1 kanna wears a long white, black, and gold tunic worn over a tight black bodysuit that allows for fluid physical movements. he wears a black colored hakama on his lower body, alongside matching black kneesocks and traditional shinobi sandals over his feet that are black as opposed to the usual blue color.
when within the hyuuga compound or in more casual settings kanna wears a stark white kimono coupled with two sarashi, one covering his chest and the other covering his lower body.
PERSONALITY NINDO: "death before dishonor"
it doesn't take long to figure out the kind of person kanna is speaking with him for more than a few minutes. his tone of voice radiates arrogance, haughty despite it's soft sound and heavily sarcastic. he exudes the kind of aura that says he knows that he's better than you, rather than just thinking it, and is fully willing to prove it by going toe-to-toe with you provided you're worth his time. he does not focus on pursuits that he does not feel will somehow benefit him and can be a fairly self-centered person, though he is not completely and utterly a bad person. these traits stem from what he was constantly told growing up, how he was hoisted on a pedestal as a member of the hyuuga clan's main house and how much more superior the clan is evidenced by their dojutsu and superior martial arts.
though having quite the superiority complex kanna does not believe he is better than literally everyone in existence. he swears complete fealty to the hyuuga clan and follows their directions without question, upholding what he believes to be the hyuuga's ideals in many aspects of his life. he is overconfident but is no bully, and honor as a concept is a great deal to him. in many ways he approaches the concept of honor like an ages old samurai, doing whatever is within his power to reclaim lost honor should he be heavily disrespected or have his pride stepped upon. it is because of this pride that kanna also exhibits a strong willpower, but negatively it can also blind him and leave him quite gullible.
even with those witnessed as beneath him kanna still makes sure to attach the proper honorific and does his best not to carry himself in any way that might be seen as slovenly or ill-mannered. it is also worth noting that kanna still suffers heavily from his constantly aggressive pursuit to be the best, lacking in social skills what he makes up for in book smarts and combat prowess. he has begun to melt from his icey demeanor but it is still a long way off before he's begun to become humbled, no doubt requiring to be knocked down more than a few pegs before this occurs. though even he doesn't know it, deep down there is a heavily repressed desire to get to know people better and be more of a sociable individual as is most common with those his age.
HISTORY kanna is a young member of the hyuuga clan's main house, and was born on may 5th, 1008. born and raised around the time of the hyuuga clan's infamous "red moon" incident, much of kanna's childhood was spent meticulously instilling the values of the hyuuga clan within him. he lived and continues to live the life of aristocracy, being informed of not only his own superiority but of the prominence of the hyuuga clan regularly. on top of this, kanna's childhood was filled with other forms of education, most notably revolving around the clan's dojutsu and martial arts style. many of kanna's earliest memories involved one of these three aforementioned things. his affinity toward martial arts as a pursuit and talent with the byakugan left many expectations, expectations kanna aimed to match no matter the cost.
when kanna entered the academy he did so with an advantage. the hyuuga clan had already begun to teach him a great deal about the shinobi world, alongside basics necessary for him to understand what he was viewing with the byakugan and what he would be attacking using the gentle fist. the attitude he exhibited in konoha's academy is different from the one he exhibits now only in how he is older; arrogant, detached, and short-tempered. some might have viewed kanna like a "pampered prince", if he wasn't capable of putting up rather than shutting up. talented and knowing it, kanna did not appear to struggle in many of his studies and was able to excel at a decent rate in many areas... all, unfortunately, except one.
being a member of the hyuuga's main house meant that kanna had to be the best. both from what he was told by elder clan members and from what he heard in his own head. anyone, and anything, that stood in the way of that was useless. because of this, kanna's ability to work on a team and work with others suffered. he became heavily stunted socially and many of his classmates didn't want to spend time around him. though he graduated the academy young, kanna spent a good year or two going on minor missions and learning more about his clan-based abilities. this was a fairly brutal stab to kanna's immense ego but, in turn, it helped to humble him a good bit. he began to change the way he presented himself, even if only slightly and in minor ways. he could at least carry conversations with other people without feeling they weren't worth his time.
now in the present day kanna has found himself assigned to genin team 1, awaiting the day in which he meets any fellow team members he may have alongside the leader of the team. though he still views being on a team as a means to an end kanna is still young and within his teen years, having a lot of growing up to do.
FIGHTING STYLE primarily kanna is a taijutsu specialist, having been taught the gentle fist style at an early age and continuing to do everything in his power to perfect what skills he currently has in his possession at any given time. though this may give off the impression that kanna is only a close range fighter, an ace up kanna's sleeve is that he is also a practitioner of long range ninjutsu, utilizing the element of suiton. the jutsu kanna is capable of utilizing was learned and trained as a "back up" option in case he is unable to close the gap and utilize the gentle fist against his opponent(s) effectively.
kanna is, overall, a "speedster" kind of character opting for quickness and agility. this means that kanna lacks in the areas of strength and durability, his slim body disabling him from being able to overpower those with larger, more muscular frames in feats of strength.

Byakugan [White Eyes]
the dojutsu of the hyuuga clan that has come to give them a terrifying reputation. while kanna's eyes are normally a crystal amber color, when activating the dojutsu his eyes take on the traditional lilac color the clan are known for along with veins appearing at the edges of his eyes. when the byakugan is active kanna gains a near 360º vision, except for a small blindspot at his first thoracic vertebrae, and has the range he's able to see increase to a total of 1km from his usual passive distance of 100m.
this vision is telescopic, allowing kanna to see through solid objects such as smoke screens and walls. he is able to see chakra's flow and the circulation system inside the body with great detail as well as the color of chakra; giving him the ability to discern clones from the original. he also possesses the ability to see heat through infrared, and can detect chakra sealed barriers as well as determine when genjutsu is being used.
Juken [Gentle Fist]
the martial arts style developed and unique to the hyuuga clan, wielded by kanna as a member of the hyuuga clan's main house. a close hand to hand combat that works on strikes, blocks and redirection, the gentle fist primarily operates by the user forcibly injecting their own chakra into the opponent's system, damaging the surrounding organs/muscles/etc. this is usually performed through the index and middle finger or through kanna's palm. with the aid of the byakugan kanna is able to utilize the clan's dojutsu to view the tenketsu, enabling him to open or close them. through this process kanna can completely change the dynamic in people's chakra systems that allow them to mold chakra, causing effects that range from worse chakra control to zero ability to perform ninjutsu.
due to the amount of diligence and training kanna has put into utilizing the martial art he is also capable of utilizing the gentle fist, in conjunction with his byakugan, to dispel any chakra based substance by leaking chakra through his hands in the shape of a protruding needle, or knife-like blade to cut through the opposing chakra.
