Oriko had arrived early, not because he wanted to be there before the Chuunin, but because he was actually excited about taking on something of a "tutor" role, something he hadn't done since his days in the medical corps. Of course, this time his training and tutelage would have nothing to do with diagnosing patients or healing wounds; no this training was to help Yuudai learn more about the illusionist arts, something he was told he was even more skilled with than his medical training. It had likely been a surprise, therefore, when he'd chosen to go into the medic corps instead of becoming a fully operation-focused ninja at first. There was also the fact that this training with Yuudai was precisely the kind of thing the Ame Lord had expected of him when he'd been instructed to instead join a Genin team. Granted, this building of camaraderie had likely been expected to be done with his other Genin teammate, rather than with a totally unrelated Chuunin, but progress was progress, and Oriko felt that this would also help with his teamwork.

It's raining, as it normally is in the area around Amegakure, though Oriko is actually on the outskirts of the village, inside of a waterlogged forest that would serve as a great training ground for the specific Genjutsu he's planning to use in order to help teach Yuudai about the basics of the illusion arts. He's wearing his usual attire of the black biotech body suit, though he's left behind both his medical kit and his weapon pouch; he likely won't be needing either one in order to help his new friend learn more about the use of Genjutsu. Although he knows that a single technique does not a master make, the Sly Mind Affect Technique displays several aspects of Genjutsu that he feels will help the other man understand at least the basics.

He turns with delight as he hears a noise, his blue-white ephemeral hair billowing in the movement as his gold-colored eyes light up with excitement, eager to get to training and show Yuudai how well he can do.

Today was a new day, but it was still rainy as hell. However as a citizen of Amegakure what more could one come to expect? Even with the rain Yuudai was ready to have a very productive day, as today he was set to train with Oriko. Even though Yuudai was the higher ranking shinobi between them, today was time for Oriko to become the master and Yuudai be the student.
[break][break]
Yuudai needed help with his other ninja arts, which is what prompted Oriko to set up this training session for the chunin where he would help him learn the basics of genjutsu. The two had already picked out a spot during their last training session together, so all it would take is for Yuudai to meet him there. The chunin was slightly nervous about the situation, knowing his genjutsu was the worst of all his ninja arts.
[break][break]
*What if he tells me I suck? Or worse… what if he calls me a body building muscle head and tells me I’ll never rank up past chunin…* These internal thoughts were of course exaggerations but it is truly where his nervous mind took him to thinking. He would leave the village and begin walking on its outskirt, into the rainy forest. Entering a small clearing he would see Oriko’s blue hair, prompting him to let off a slight grin before saying "Yo yo! What’s good Oriko!”

Oriko, seeing Yuudai and hearing his greeting, gives his new friend one of his signature smiles, one that's all eyes, since his mouth is still hidden behind his gas mask, despite not using any filters for it. Even in the gloomy and rainy weather, Oriko seemed to think of Yuudai like a rare ray of sunshine breaking through clouds, and looked as though he was trying to reflect that very brightness back to the Chuunin. His answer to the greeting might seem a bit strange, but it was also the truth, and at least he'd also explain his meaning behind it.

"What's good is this weather! Gloomy and dark like this is actually perfect for most types of Genjutsu. Skrrrk. Bright sunlight makes our eyes better focused for details, but these muted colors make it a lot harder to make out what's real or what's illusion. Skrrk."

The water would also be a direct help for the Genin, since he was more proficient with water-based techniques, but he didn't add that. Instead, he points back the way Yuudai had come, thinking to give him a demonstration of his ability to use this specific Genjutsu before he starts with the lesson. It would serve as an example of a successful illusion technique for Yuudai to keep in mind.

"Do me a favor. Skrrk. Walk back to Amegakure from here. Skrk."

He waits for Yuudai to turn back to look in the direction he'd just pointed, then pulls his gas mask down a little, allowing his unhindered voice free for the first time in quite a while, though he wasn't going to say anything in a recognizable language. Instead, he uses his voice to make a fox's yipping noise, activating the Genjutsu over the area around them through the somewhat odd trigger, and ensuring that when Yuudai actually tries to leave, he would end up circling back around to where he'd come into the clearing to be face-to-face with Oriko once more, having replaced his gas mask quickly.

NAME: Kori Shinchū no Jutsu - [Sly Mind Affect Technique]
RANK: C
CHAKRA USAGE: Low [Very Low Continuous]
CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu
ELEMENT: N/A
TRIGGER: Fox Yip (Sound)
DESCRIPTION:
A shinobi using this technique will typically keep themselves concealed from a group of enemies and let out a high pitched yelp similar to that of a fox. This auditory signal triggers the technique and allows for a single shinobi to keep potentially dozens of enemy combatants preoccupied. By allowing the user to change the enemies sense of direction through recreating the terrain they are seeing, the user will typically replace pathways that lead back to where they came from with illusions of paths that progress them forward. While most commonly used to prevent target's from progressing towards their destination it could also be used to hinder the escape of targets. The one main downside to the technique is that only the terrain can be changed with the illusion, meaning that non terrain objects like corpses typically can't be hidden.

Upon Yuudai’s arrival, Oriko would smile and reply to him saying what’s good, by voicing that the weather was good… well good for their training anyway, as the dark and gloom would help facilitate usage of illusions. Yuudai was still rather nervous about their training today and even somewhat regretted coming. It wouldn’t take long for the duo to get things started though, as Oriko had asked Yuudai to walk back to Ame from where they currently were. Yuudai’s face would fill with confusion as he was not sure why Oriko would request this of him. The chunin began to look slightly lost, the confusion showing itself well.
[break][break]
"I mean I can do that sure, I guess…”
[break][break]

His words were very mellow and his voice showed he was not entirely sure of the situation. Yuudai would turn around and begin walking back towards Amegakure like Oriko had requested of him. After he had turned around however he heard a strange sound, he wasn’t exactly sure what the noise was though. He would walk forward for a few moments before realizing something seemed off. He was not exactly sure what it was but he felt as if he had walked this path before.
[break][break]
Of course he had just walked the path to arrive at the meeting spot for training, but this would feel as if he was walking in a roundabout. And moments later his hunch was right as he would be back within the clearing standing face to face with Oriko. "What the hell was that Oriko?” Yuudai would say with his look of confusion intensifying.

Oriko had been waiting, feeling somewhat relaxed after having placed the illusion, sitting on a low and degraded stone wall that had tumbled down in most places, marking some unknown barrier that had long since disappeared. It was a relic, but Oriko was fine with sitting on it and lightly kicking his legs back and forth while he waits for Yuudai to wind up returning. Once he does so, Oriko drops down from the wall and gives him one of his signature smiles, one that doesn't show his mouth at all, hidden as it is behind the gas mask he always wears, even without the filters. The Chuunin seems bewildered with his own return, which makes sense with the Genjutsu he'd just used to cause the other man to simply walk in a winding path that brings him right back to the clearing he'd designated as their training space for the illusion arts.

"That was one of the more common illusion techniques that they sometimes use when an opponent's sightlines are hindered by forests... or buildings. Skrrk. I've used it to give you a little demonstration of the type of illusion techniques that are fairly common, and some of the things you'll need to learn about to be able to perform most of them. Skrrrk. A trigger, a sensory focus, and a situation, like a goal for you to strive for to get a result."

Oriko nods to himself at this explanation, hoping that it's easy enough to follow along with the lesson for the Chuunin. It still shouldn't be too bad, the Genjutsu he used was fairly simple. Well, simple for him, anyway, but he was a Takehara, and he wasn't sure how far down he should dumb the concepts down. But he doesn't try to underestimate Yuudai's ability to understand.

After Yuudai had questioned Oriko on exactly what had happened, the genin would give a lengthy response. He would say that what had happened was one of the more common illusions used by shinobi when nightlines are obstructed by buildings and forest. He would go on to basically give a breakdown of how genjutsu worked, stating a genjustsu was made of a sensory trigger, a focus, and a goal.
[break][break]
Going off what he was just told the chunk’s mind began to think about what was going on, before long he would mutter to himself saying "Oh so the goal of that must have been to simply confuse someone… make them believe they are going somewhere they are not… Is that right Oriko?” The last part he would say clearly as if he knew primo was listening all along.
[break][break]
Yuudai was not much for classroom work or learning, he always preferred to learn hands on which was one of the many reasons he loved taijutsu so much. With him ready to get to training he would look to Oriko and say "Ok no need for us to doddle about, lets get to work dude! So were you planing to teach me that jutsu?”

Oriko smiles when Yuudai asks what the goal of this particular Genjutsu he'd used on him had been, if it was simply to confuse someone and believe they're going somewhere they're not, and he nods when she's asked if that's right, although he does have one clarification to make on that point.

"Its goal is to make the targets walk around in a circle. Skrk. That can certainly cause confusion, but it can also delay someone from getting where they actually want to go. Skrrk. Or, if it's done long enough, it can lead to exhausting the enemy and make them so tired that they can't even fight back when the user of the Genjutsu finally attacks them. Skrrk."

Then Yuudai requests that they get right to it and if Oriko was planning to teach him that particular jutsu.

"I mostly was using it to help teach some of the fundamentals of Genjutsu. They don't go into it in-depth in the Academy, I remember. Skrrk. But yes, it's a good jutsu to teach, especially because it can catch multiple people at the same time, even though it's a bit advanced as a Genjutsu technique. Skrrk. There's no handseals involved, either..."

With this Oriko goes over how he infuses his chakra into the area around himself, and then changes its appearance in small ways, like making the path appear to shift to a different direction, until it turns into a wide loop around itself.

Yuudai would listen to Oriko’s words carefully, as he told him about the genjutsu that he had used. Before long Oriko would also mention how the academy did not go into detail on the illusionary arts, causing Yuudai to laugh a bit to himself. A memory of him in the academy sleeping during lectures on almost anything popped into his mind, reminding the chunin that he was truly lacking in most areas besides Taijutsu and Ninjutsu.
[break][break]
Oriko would then get down to the meat and potatoes of the lesson, telling Yuudai how to form the chakra to activate the jutsu. Now was the time for Yudai to put his small amount of ‘book’ learning into a action and turn it into actual action. Using what he learned from Oriko he would begin to mold his chakra within himself, before pushing it outwards along with an imitation of the sound Oriko had made earlier.
[break][break]
As the sound came out one could tell Yuudai had never tried anything close before, but even with the terrible attempt at the sound, it would seem that the jutsu had worked. However the activation of the jutsu was only to a very small degree, as the two would soon see that the area around them had only changed a little. Such a small change wouldn’t confuse anyone for long, and would see them find their way in no time.

Oriko blinks a little at the higher ranking shinobi laughing, and he wonders if he'd said something stupid, but it seems like nothing he'd said previously had been particularly dumb or silly, so he has to assume that Yuudai was laughing at something more internal, rather than what he had said and their training together. And then he watches as Yuudai does his best to focus before letting out a yelp like a fox, which was just fine and correct, but the Genjutsu was completely off, changing one very small aspect in a very small area, and he's glad that his mask is capable of hiding the wincing face he makes at the pretty poor try at a Genjutsu.

Oriko also helpfully reminds himself that even he had struggled to learn about Genjutsu, despite having been considered a natural at this type of jutsu, so he doesn't bother criticizing the attempt; he knows that Yuudai is probably his own worst critic, and he's certain to have recognized how poor of a result the attempt had produced. Since there's no reason to criticize any of it, Oriko focuses on the positive, and he points out the change with one hand, literally pointing to it.

"It might seem small, but this is a strong first try. Skrrk. I think you can do better, though. Try focusing on extending your chakra further, and then widening your focus to include more of the surrounding area. Skrrrk."

Yuudai's face would change to one of disgust as he realized he did not successfully use the jutsu. Although he was angry with himself he was not surprised seeing as how his scores in school showed him to be one of the worth genjutsu users of his class. Yuudai would let out a sigh as he listened to Oriko’s word on how he could improve, but truth be told Yuudai had already felt hopeless in trying. Deep down inside Yuudai knew his strength was in his physical capabilities, and he also knew his genjutsu was his down fall to achieving true greatness.
[break][break]
"I hear you man but this shit just seems so hard! I should be able to do such a low level jutsu no problem… Sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t have made it to chuunin.”
[break][break]
His words showed his sadness and disappointment, but he was ready to keep on trying for the sole fact of proving himself wrong. He would begin to form the chakra within himself before pushing it outward with the sound of the fox yip, in an attempt to do the jutsu right this time. With this attempt he had extended the effected are, however the changes were still below their optimal level.

Oriko blinks when the Chuunin exclaims that the Genjutsu training just seems too hard for him, as he hadn't expected that kind of talk from Yuudai; the man had seemed so much more determined when he was doing physical training and when they took on that mission together. He had also taken a bit of pride in being asked to help the higher ranking ninja train in the use of Genjutsu, so the language of failure was starting to wear on Oriko a little. At least with only the upper half of his face visible, he was able to hide the emotions better than most would. He's about to give some words of encouragement when Yuudai puts a second try into the Genjutsu, and this time extending the area to quite a much larger area, which Oriko was only able to determine thanks to his skill in the use of such a specialized fighting style. but from what he can see, the changes are not exactly perfect to cause location confusion.

Yuudai goes on to give out another defeatist statement, and although Oriko feels like slapping him to get him out of this mindset, he instead reaches up and puts a hand on his shoulder to take his attention back to him, so he can see the determined look in the Genin's eyes as he gives him what he hopes is the encouragement he clearly needs. In a rare show of emotion, his eyes are furrowed in concentration and a bit of worry is visible in his yellow eyes as he looks into the much taller Chuunin's own bright blue eyes.

"Skrk. I didn't give up on the physical training, even though it was really hard for me. Your form is getting better! You're doing it! You only need to push yourself a little bit farther and you'll have it down. Skrrrk. You were promoted to Chuunin because you had the potential to succeed. Skrrk. Remember that!"

It was rare for Oriko to give a speech like that, especially because his gas mask often would make such speech somewhat difficult and awkward, but now Oriko returns to where he'd been standing in order to observe how well Yuudai was doing with the Genjutsu. His eyes are still firm and strongly set, to let Yuudai know that he wouldn't give up as long as the Chuunin wouldn't, either. It really was close to being done, and then his friend would feel some accomplishment for getting the Genjutsu figured out.

Although Yuudai was on the edge of quitting and his speech sounded very much unlike the determined young man he was, Oriko still had hope that he could improve. The genin would speak on how Yuudai was indeed improving, and how he just had to keep trying as that was the only way to improve. He would say that being promoted to churning meant that Yuudai had the potential to succeed. Yuudai would feel Oriko’s hand upon his shoulder, causing his eyes to get watery. While no tears would fall Yuudai truly felt the bond and emotions between them, and Oriko’s words seemed like just enough to get him to keep pushing.
[break][break]
Yuudai would watch Oriko retake his previous position before he would open his lips to say "Thank you, Oriko…”. He would then try his best to form the chakra needed for the jutsu one more. When he had finished forming it he would then perform the same fox like sound once more, with the hopes that he would succeed this time. As the fox sound escaped his mouth and the genjutsu would activate, it was clear that this time it worked to full effect. Realizing the hard work he did had finally paid off, he would jump into the air with a loud scream of excitement.

Oriko feels pretty proud of himself when his words of encouragement seem to have had the desired effect, and he's even thanked for the inspiration he seems to have given Yuudai. The Genin watches closely as the Chuunin gathers up his chakra again; he's starting to feel like he maybe should have picked an easier Genjutsu to train, since this one didn't require any handseals. The only real way he could tell if his friend was using the jutsu correctly is to determine the effectiveness of the results, so he can't stop Yuudai before the jutsu is already used.

Oriko is clearly delighted that he'd pushed his chakra out much further than before when he uses the Genjutsu this time around, as he can clearly see that it was done correctly. The Genin's eyes are scrunched up with the power of his smiling as he leaps down from where he was standing to sprint right on up to the taller man and leap to him in a hug while the Chuunin is loudly yelling out with his own excitement. It was a very rare show of emotion from the older, but shorter Genin, and after the hug, he's quick to disentangle himself from the embrace, clearing his throat as he does so and doing his best to return to a more serious tone of voice.

"Skrk. Great job, Yuudai! Skrrk. You should be able to do it more easily in the future as long as you practice it a bit. Skrrk. It's really pretty useful if you want to use it to weaken opponents by leading them around in circles and exhausting them. Skrrk."

Yuudai was greatly surprised when Oriko would jump up to hug him as he too seemed excited at the success of the jutsu. The bonding moment was clearly short lived as Oriko would soon pull away, and Yuudai would be left blushing ever so slightly. Oriko would then say he believed Yuudai would continue to get better at Genjutsu as long as he kept practicing and didn’t give up. Yuudai would smile and say "Yeah, I’ll just have to keep trying! Its no different than my real muscles right? I have to keep working the muscle out in order for it to get stronger. I shall do my best to keep up training, and not just my taijutsu anymore.”
[break][break]
It was this day that Yuudai would learn a lesson, a lesson that in order to become the best he could be he would have to overcome certain challenges. Those challenges regardless of how big or small were able to be overcame as long as he worked hard. It was at that moment when he would look at Oriko and say "I have high hopes for you Oriko! Even if being a true shinobi doesn’t work for whatever reason, I’m sure you could always be a teacher. You are a really good one after all.

Oriko is actually feeling even more lauded when he's told that he could always be a teacher, and even that he was a really good one, but he has to correct Yuudai on one thing, so he swallows the pride he feels from the compliment in order to make his remark. He looks at the higher-ranking ninja with a determined expression in his eyes as he carefully crafts the statement he wants to make in his own mind before he opens his mouth, speaking through the respirator of his gas mask.

"I'm already a true shinobi. Skrrk. I'm just on my way to becoming an even better shinobi. Skrk."

But then the moment passes, and Oriko can go back to being in a high celebratory mood as he points out the exit for the forest they were currently in, although the forest itself is really quite small, but at least it also points towards the village of Amegakure that both of them call home. Even if he's wearing a gas mask, Yuudai might be surprised with the speed with which the Genin leaps from his perch he'd been using for training in order to bound towards the village with an elated leap.

"Skrk. Come on, let's go out and celebrate! Skrrk. After all, you're one step closer to being a more rounded ninja!"
