It was a weird time to be in another village, but everyone was being sent to this place on important business. Asahi for his part was here as part of the Sunagakure contingent, when given a choice on what to take on, he had chosen to go deal with the Wind Zone, since he felt better equipped to deal with that in all of it's complexities. After all when you grew up in the desert the wind was just a natural part of your living, and so it was something familiar to him. Thankfully that wouldn't be the only familiar thing that he was going to deal with today as namikawa suisei was coming on this mission with him!

At least that was a familiar face for him to lean on while he dealt with the unknown person in their group. They hadn't been told much of each other other than the standard 'here's the name of your colleagues' bit, but regardless of all that, he figured that if this other person was close to Suisei in skill then they would be more than fine. While he'd never seen her fight before, and this would be his first time in the field with her, he figured she had to be strong in order to be a Wanderer, right? To roam lands never seen before and to deal with all those troubles, would have to make you stronger.

It's been a busy, busy day running around Yugakure. Truth be told, the only reason why she's been assigned to this task was because she crawled to the person-in-charge and asked for a lighter duty. Given the nature of this inter-village effort, she'd expected to see all kinds of people on these missions but when she'd heard the name of the ones tagging along with her, she had absolutely perked up.[break][break]

Gone is the fatigue as she rushes through the crowd, slipping through the cracks with a keen eye kept out for that familiar mop of white hair. Sure enough, she finds him, all too awkward in his little corner.[break][break]

"Well, well, well. If it isn't -"[break][break]

"Asahi!"[break][break]

Bright smiles, excessive jumping and excitable waving is what differentiates her from the nameless sea of faces. Along with that little pouting Bengal monitor that sits right atop her head. Some way, somehow, she manages to cross over and reach his side, all too friendly as she reaches up to slap his shoulder.[break][break]

"So, how's it feel? You know,"[break][break]

She remembers when she first left her village. Or so she wishes. She had been pretty young when she first left the Land of Waves, after all.[break][break]

It seemed, as Yuya looked over small round sunglasses at a commotion building before him, that his party members had made themselves known and the time for introductions was upon them. The young man, despite his unfamiliarity with either party, started his smile early. He gathered his belongings from the small outpost he'd set up at a quaint table and stood, making haste to join the two celebrants and avoid any awkward space from a distant and too-early greeting.

Once he was close enough, he voiced his presence. "Hi! I'm guessing you two are on retrieval duty as well?" It wasn't the most glamorous assignment but it should make for relatively light work and Yuya was here to do his part no matter how impressive the resulting resume read. He, as a wannin, was representing Yugakure and there was maybe a touch of uncertainty in the position; not just because he was about as far from a shinobi as one could be barring civilians, but because there was a heightened degree of responsibility being hired by the village directly.

He'd done minimal forays out into the lands devastated by an explosion of elemental chakra thus far so he hoped, as well, that either of these two could serve as more of a guide. They both looked to be roughly Yuya's age but they also seemed plenty sure of themselves all things considered. The young wannin boy took special interest in the white-haired kid whose headband, which people of this land seemed to sport to define their allegiances, was unfamiliar to him as it hung off his shoulder. "That's a fun one. It looks like an hourglass." He said, pointing with no regard for table manners at the village symbol.

He didn't have to wait long before he felt a slap on his shoulder, and an all to familiar voice calling out his name. Seeing her with the little lizard on the top of her head where it was always perched, forced a brilliant smile to erupt on his lips. He was so thankful for her presence since he only knew the people from his village here, and they were all busy with their own missions so he didn't have the chance to really hang around with them.

"Suisei! You're here! Thank goodness! I was gonna be biffed if it turned out to be someone else with the same name." he said with a laugh. "It's is pretty awesome! It's strange though, I'm use to home where you can see so far to the horizon, outside of it isn't really like that. It feels stifling....Claustrophobic? Everything feels so compacted compared to the desert, but that's not all bad! You should have seen this giant forest we had to go through, and then there were these bears! Real bears! They had little babies with them! Ohhhh! And there was this giant waterfall, that went over like four cliffs! It was so high up I couldn't see where it started!" He said listing off all the things that he had found interesting on their way here.

Though before he could speak further about her comment about her home their third member showed up. He was wearing sunglasses, and for a moment he wondered if the guy was from Kumogakure.

When the man pointed to his headband which he kept tied around his arm he proudly presented it, and he smiled brightly at him.

"It's pretty neat huh? It's the symbol of my village, Sunagakure. Nice to meet you, I'm Asahi!" he gave a wave to the other, and he tapped his cheek. "It's a simple mission at least, should we get started?" he asked his two comrades, though he stuck close to Suisei.

"Oh yeah. Everything gets so much more humid. The sky gets swallowed up by everything and sometimes you even forget that the world is so much bigger than all this." She nods along. Listening to just how he describes everything he's seen reminds her of a child talking about his little adventure for the day. "If you think that waterfall was cool, wait till I show you the places I've travelled to! I know this one spot in the forest where you can see a whole bunch of animals you never see in the desert..."[break][break]

Whenever he gets that pass to leave his village on his own terms, she'd be glad to take him all around the world. For now, she has to focus on the newcomer and the mission at hand.[break][break]

"Inoue Yuya, right?" Turning to the other teen, she tries very hard to stifle a laugh at just how close Asahi seems to be sticking to her. Never has she known him to be this shy. "I'm Suisei! Good to have you on our team!"[break][break]

"Good to have him?? You best watch yourself, you -"[break][break]

"And this is Kou, my buddy!" She cuts the little reptile off with a few pats on his head.[break][break]

Perhaps, the change in environment has had more of an effect on Asahi than expected. Well then, she supposes she has to step up to the plate and help smooth things over for now.[break][break]

"Well, if Inoue-san doesn't have anything other things to prep, let's head out!"[break][break]

Clapping her hands together, she looks to the other shinobi for his answer. And if all is fine, she'll gesture for one of them to lead the way. Best to occupy one of them so they don't wind up staring at each other while they head to their assigned zone.

"Sunagakure." He tried it out on his tongue, speaking with only slight difficulty as he replicated Asahi's intonation. "It's a pleasure, Asahi" He smiled, an aura of genuine warmth radiating off of him, indicating to anyone perceptive to body language that the boy was the furthest thing from a threat. In fact, "Yuya," was more like a soft curious little baby than a trained warrior as he responded to Asahi's introduction with a simple one of his own, confirming Suisei's accusation in turn.

The introduction of the cute lizard that sat atop her head caught Yuya off guard, however, and he jumped a bit at its reveal. But, immediately, any confusion was replaced by a deep interest. "Kou!" He shouted in tone only, low enough in volume so as not to scare the critter as he offered him a polite blink; something you did with cats but probably meant nothing to a lizard. "What a handsome young man!" Though Yuya did not dare pat that handsome young man's head; he would respect the creature's space until otherwise instructed.

As the group moved toward setting off, Yuya offered a wordless nod of approval. He made a habit of staying pretty well prepared and there would be space enough in his pack to store any belongings they came across on their search about the elemental zone's perimeter, assuming nobody was expecting them to haul back any bookshelves. At Suisei's gesture, Yuya took the lead, excited to start their mission and see what sights the ravaged landscape held for them.

"Pleasure is all mine! Also I have a list of the things we are suppose to find! It doesn't look like anything crazy. Just some personal stuff. A stuffed animal, a journal, things like that. I made copies for us as well!" He said to them both, and handed over a copy of their scavenger hunting list. Then they were off, since they didn't have to go into the Wind Zone directly, and just on it's outskirts it wasn't going to be super dangerous. Still it would take some time to gather all of the items on their list, and cross check to make sure they were all the correct items.

But with Suisei here he felt way more at ease with completing the mission. In fact between the three of them Asahi didn't foresee this mission taking them long at all. Maybe after they were done they could all go get something to eat, and learn a bit more about each other? Though he figured Suisei would be up for such a thing, he didn't know about Yuya, it wouldn't hurt to ask at the very least. Still he was excited to get more missions under his belt.

"Oh Suisei I wanted to ask, since I don't know when I'll see you again....The Chunin Exams will be in a few months. Do you think you will be able to come to watch? If you can't I totally understand! But I'm gonna be training a ton until then so I can pass, and if I do! Then I can travel with you sometimes!" The thought of leaving his little world behind to see others was appealing to him especially since he had traveled here. So many cool things to see, and he wanted to see them all!

There's no missing the way Kou stiffens at the mention of his name, then relaxes and smirks at the compliment provided.[break][break]

"You sure know your stuff!" What a way to recover his ego. Fortunately, Yuya doesn't try his hand at petting and potentially breaking the facade. "My scales are some of the most colourful around! Got plenty of gals that would love to get a piece of me!"[break][break]

She really is trying, keeping that laughter in when it bubbles and threatens to overflow.[break][break]

"Nice going, Asahi." Thankfully, she manages by focusing on the paper that she's handed. A stuffed animal...
A journal... Some part of her wonders if those would even be lucky enough to survive the howling winds or the graceless throw out on the rocks. Well, all they can really do is hope for the best.[break][break]

"Aren't those usually limited to examinees and proctors?" She looks up from the list with a curiosity burning in her eyes. Truth be told, she's never thought to go watch a chuunin exam, especially since she'd assumed most would deny her entrance based on the fact that she was unaffiliated with any village.[break][break]

The quiet flutter of paper makes her stop in her tracks, looking back to see a slightly tattered journal flapping with the wind. A few steps over lets her bend to pick it up. briefly scanning the covers and pages for identifying marks before shutting and placing it into her bag.[break][break]

"I'd love to go if that won't be a problem for the organisers."

[Inoue Yuya]

It seemed today was going to be light on the work and heavy on the learning. Words were tossed back and forth between his two teammates as Yuya scanned the list provided to him. It seemed like most of the stuff that had gone missing were little trifles, of little value; though they were certainly very valuable to the people that’d lost them.

Looking up from his list, he scanned the immediate area around them. Suisei and Asahi were chatting about something, which Yuya was absolutely listening in on, but he wouldn’t interrupt them for now. Instead, he saw something glistening, pinched between two rocks a bit further up the way.

It wasn’t far so he jogged over to it, prying a tarnished silver locket on a thin chain from the earth’s stony grasp. He tucked the bauble away and headed back to the others. He hadn’t gone far enough to leave earshot so he had heard most of their conversation and was now a bubbling cauldron of curiosity.

His eyes fixed on Asahi, the boy from Sunagakure who’d mentioned some kind of test. "What’s a Chunin?” Using context clues, he happened a guess. "Is that like a passport?” Given Asahi’d mentioned being able to travel with Suisei, it wasn’t the worst guess. But, despite having probably seen the word written down before, Yuya was completely unfamiliar with the shinobi ranking system.

What’s more, he had no idea what the chunin exams entailed. He imagined a written test, multiple choice style, to show you knew your stuff enough to get a chunin travel badge. Of course, the idea of someone not being able to travel wherever they wanted was as foreign as any other concept in these lands.

It didn't take long for the group to spot, and gather all the things. Asahi spotted the stuffed animal, and with that they were able to gather the rest of the belongings for their client since it was nearby as well. Though at their questions on the Chunin exam, one he understood, but the other he quirked a brow. How did the other boy not know what the Chunin Exams were, or what a Chunin was? Asahi thought everyone would know that, and he was confused. Though he'd answer Suisei first.

"I can probably ask to give you special permission, since we're friends I don't think it would be an issue." He says to her with a bright smile.
