It had been a while since he had seen Suisei. In fact it had been since their missions in Yugakare since they had seen one another, and that felt like a million years ago. So when he heard that she was back in town, they had set up a day for them to catch up, and maybe train a bit. After all he had a friend that he wanted her to meet. He had alluded to him a bit during their missions, but he had left Jinbi at home with his parents at that time since he didn't want him to get hurt. However today the golden snake was coiled around Asahi's neck like a piece of jewelry, his eyes closed, and he was so still at a glance one wouldn't think he was alive at all.

Asahi was already at the training grounds waiting for her to appear, he was trying to get as strong as possible before the Chuunin Exams, and while he could always spar people from the village he wanted to spar someone from outside to get use to fighting new, and strange people. Besides he hadn't gotten to see her in proper action the last time they were together, and so he was excited to see just what she could. Though he also wasn't going to use his Iron Sand today, he was working up his upper body strength, and if he relied to much on his sand that would defeat the purpose.

The travel from Yugakure to Sungakure had taken a lot longer than expected, what with the little detours she made for her side jobs. At the very least, she's got a full purse to her name and doesn't need to worry about supplies for the next leg of her journey.[break][break]

No, the only real thing she needs to worry about now is the fact that Oonakayama Asahi has called her to the local training grounds. Is he intending to ask her for advice on learning jutsu? Or does he want to spar to train up some new skills? That would make a lot of sense considering how he'd been telling her something about attending the Chuunin exam not too long ago.[break][break]

And yet, she is probably not the one to ask for help when it comes to such things. After all, her skills are about as refined as a pair of wooden chopsticks at the local ramen stand. Gets the basic job done, but that's about it. That's all that she needs to survive the world that goes ever on around her.[break][break]

So does she, as soon as she gains a glimpse of Asahi. Draped around his neck is a rather strange jewelry... No, creature. A snake, to be exact. Had he signed a contract of his own too?[break][break]

"Yo!" Things will be revealed in time. For now, she greets him just like usual, with a smile and a wave as she draws closer. "Nice buddy you've got there!"[break][break]

Jinbi lazily opened an eye at the pair, not that he needed to, he could sense them coming from far away. However the female regarded him, and so he lifted his head, and flared out his hood. A golden king among his kind.

Mmmmm you are his friendsss. I am Emperor Jinbi, and he is my royal retainer Asahi. You will do well to remember that Little Lizard. Jinbi spoke to Kou, as he didn't have the same speech capabilities of summons, but he was smart enough to still communicate in the language that all animals shared regardless, and so fluently. Asahi, and Suisei wouldn't be able to understand him at all, but Kou could, and after announcing himself the snake lay back down, and closed his eyes appearing to go back to sleep.

"Yeah this is my buddy." Asahi said, and he lightly stroked the crown of Jinbi's head. "Remember that adventure I told you I went on in Yugakure? With the waterfall, and all that stuff? I got him there. I'm not sure if he is a gift from a god, or not, but he appeared to me after I cleaned off this statue I found behind a waterfall. I left some of my Iron Sand there, so when I'm able I can show it to you!" He said to her with a bright smile. "Another girl there got a crow, but I like Jinbi. He's really good at finding stuff! He helped me track down all kinds of small game while we were on that survival challenge." He explained to her.

He had changed not much since they had last seen one another, but she would see the bandages on his arms. From his knuckles up to his elbows, his arms were wrapped up. A little bit more muscular, his training was slowly paying off.

"But I was curious if you could help me today? See I'm trying to get physically stronger, and I know you can do all sorts of cool things? Do you have a summon that's like really heavy that I could carry around? Or wrestle, and spar against? I'm restricting myself from using my Iron Sand. It would defeat the purpose of my training if I used it up." He stated to her honestly. "There is a girl here in the village, she's like uber strong. She can reduce a training dummy to splinters with a single punch! And she told me that I needed to prepare against people like her in case they get past my sand."

There was logic behind his wanting to do this. To be a hero super strength was needed, otherwise how had all those heroes defeated dragons in the stories?

"Oh yeah? If you're an emperor, then I'm a god! I'll grow big enough to destroy whatever empire you're gonna build!"[break][break]

Oh, the snake must have called Kou small, or something to that effect. Though bonded to the lizards, she really can't hear whatever else Jinbi must've said. It'd be pretty interesting to hear what kind of conversations go on between animals. Or well, reptiles at the very least.[break][break]

"He's got pretty scales."[break][break]

"Not as pretty as mine!"[break][break]

"Of course not. Your scales are pretty too." There's no helping the laugh that escapes her. That amusement melds together with that which she feels from Asahi's story. "Who knows, maybe someone wanted to thank you for a good deed."[break][break]

She'd look forward to seeing that statue if the chance ever came around. Right now, she has to consider what he asks of her very carefully.[break][break]

"Well, I do have one but I'm not too sure if that's a good idea..."[break][break]

"No, no, no! If you call him, he'll go wild and break everything!"[break][break]

Kou isn't wrong. It's not that she doesn't believe in Asahi's potential to match him. She can quite obviously see the effort the boy's put into gaining muscle. It's just that she knows Shinra to be quite the reckless fighter if sufficiently riled up.[break][break]

"I can summon him, but are you sure?"[break][break]

They're built different, quite literally. He may be bigger and taller than she is but even then, she has reason for doubt.

Asahi smiled when she completed Jinbi, and the golden snake preened in appreciation shooting Kou what could only be called a smirk before he wrapped himself properly back up around Asahi, and closed his eyes. Ignoring the outside world once again as he 'slept'. Asahi would gently stroke the crown of his head, and at Suisei's question of whether she should summon her other one, and Kou's mild panick Asahi just smiled brightly at her.

"Yeah it's okay! I can take it! I need to spar, and carry heavy things. I have to build up my body no matter what." He expresses to her with a smile. In fact he has already started to look into some special sealing jutsu that can increase the weight of things so that he can train more effectively as well. "I promise I'll be okay, and well if I'm not you can just dismiss him right? I'm pretty sure that's how summoning works, and I trust you." He says to her sincerely.

After all from everything that he had gathered she was actually stronger than him so there was no need for him to worry about her summon going berserk. That was the simple truth, she was someone who was strong enough to travel the wide world on her own. If he ever wanted to achieve his goal, one day he would have to become stronger than her.

Reptiles do as reptiles do. And it doesn't take much for Kou to figure out that Jinbe is a snake (both metaphorically and literally) that he must someday defeat. For now though, the rivalry goes ignored for the most part as Suisei listens to Asahi's reassurance.[break][break]

And the trust he places in her... It's not that it's misplaced but rather, she feels just that bit uncertain of herself when she actually hears it out loud.[break][break]

Left with no words to argue any further, Suisei merely sighs, reaching into her pouch for a kunai and palming it with her left hand. A little manipulation of the blade and she presses the sharpened edge against the tip of her thumb.[break][break]

It's never a pleasant sensation, pricking through skin just to draw a drop of blood. But years of practice have taught her ways to minimise the discomfort she feels. Quick hand seals, her chakra drawn up and melded as she presses her hand against the ground.[break][break]

First comes a wisp of smoke, steadily growing into a thick cloud of dust that obscures Suisei's presence. Then, a sudden gust of wind, a large tail raking against the ground as it sweeps and disperses the smoke.[break][break]

"Wasn't expecting to get called upon today."[break][break]

Thin slitted eyes ooze a deep gold that would put Jinbi's scales to shame, falling upon the boy that he so faces, then turning to the one who'd summoned him.[break][break]

"I assume I'm not meant to kill this one."

It was one thing to assume that someone was strong, but it was another to see it in action, and when the smoke cleared and her new summon was there standing before him. Asahi was vibrating with excitement, and Suisei would feel the gentle upwards of anything metallic on her person as his excitement caused him to lose momentary control of his magnetic abilities before it stopped, and he just stared at the big lizard.

"That is so cool Suisei! I always knew you were super strong! But it's a whole other thing to see it y'know!" He expresses to her, and he starts to approach the big guy, but he stops immediately. "Can I touch him?" He asked her earnestly, after all he had only ever seen Kou. So this summon was entirely new to him, and when you lived in a place like the desert, and you weren't really allowed to leave it due to the dangers anything new was bound to get you excited beyond belief.

So Asahi marveled at the creature, and he waited for the go ahead, or not. Sneaking glances at his friend he wondered just how strong she really was, they were pretty close together in age he felt, but she seemed so far ahead of him in terms of strength that he wondered how long it would take for him to catch up to her.

For a moment, she swears her weapon pouch grows that bit lighter. Had she not known of Asahi's ability to manipulate metals, she probably wouldn't have pieced it together. Then, the gentle flump and weight as it all comes tumbling back into the sweet embrace of gravity.[break][break]

"I'm not that strong..."[break][break]

At least, not in her own mind. Being an outsider, it's hard to gain a grasp on just where she stands in terms of abilities. And it's not like she's keen on sparring against everyone she meets. Life's hard enough when she constantly has to fight for her survival. She'd much rather spend time connecting with people instead.

"And well, why don't you ask him yourself?" A hint to correct himself while he still can. "This is Shinra. Shinra, meet Asahi."[break][break]

The quiet, sideways flick of the komodo dragon's tail stops just short of her ankles.[break][break]

"He's pretty rude."[break][break]

"He doesn't know much about summons..." Their autonomy and thoughts on certain matters involving self.[break][break]

"Doesn't make it any less rude." He concludes, tongue flicking only to get a taste of the overwhelmingly warm and dry air. "So, whaddya want kid? Just so you know, I ain't gonna be running in weather like this."
