Raika is a bit perturbed at the fact that it's not land at all, but a huge mass of wreckage that also includes, yes Raika has confirmed it with the Byakugan, bodies. Even a few living bodies that were likely half-drowned and half-frozen here. This could be the reason that nobody had been able to map out to this part of the sea yet, as they must have hit this ship graveyard unprepared and ended up caught by the current too closely to steer away before they crashed. Raika and Raimaa seem to be of one mind about how their mission would likely be too heavily impacted by trying to bring survivors aboard, since they were working with limited supplies in order to get to and from their mission, and nursing nearly dead survivors would risk all their lives if they diverted too far for them.

Perhaps Raika had been made somewhat callous by her years surviving in Kawa, but she places the success of the mission above the lives of those struggling in the water or stranded on the ships. It was harsh, but it was also necessary, and there was no guarantee these survivors would be able to live long enough to make the rest of the trip to complete the mission, much less the return trip.

"Let's let Raimaa handle it. Focus on steering the ship, girl. I'll continue to maintain the watch."

Raika turns her Byakugan on once again, partially watching for any other challenges or worse, any sea monsters that might have been drawn by the struggle or were watching the shipwreck cove for any new morsels to eat, and also watching to make sure Raimaa isn't getting blind-sided, not that she thinks it likely for the legendary shinobi to be caught unawares. It was still best to be vigilant for the moment, though most of her watchfulness was more passive than active. At the very least, watching the survivors have their lives snuffed out was a little distracting from the motion of the waves underneath the ship rocking her and making her stomach do loops.

A life saved is a family that will be kept together for another day. There is pride to be taken in that, but nothing more than a passing moment. Nothing compared to the lives that she will have to watch Raimaa snuff out. One after the next, after the next.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the other two figure this to be the best course of action. And yet, her hands tremble as they are forced to stay and steer this vessel. Her chest stings as she takes a deep breath to still them. Even if they couldn't save them, would taking the bodies along be too much effort? Probably, if they had to truly divert the time into making multiple round trips rather than navigating their way out of these treacherous waters.

Gritting her teeth, she reminds herself to steel her heart. But leaving those bodies here, without an identity or a proper burial. Civilians? Shinobis? What of their families?

"At least grab their dog tags or something!"

There's no saving them, but some closure can be provided to those who wait for their return.

There was some mercy involved for the half-dead. Raimaa would cradle their head and then use her embedded nail-knife to puncture their brain through the temple. Instant, and painless. It was good that she was doing this, it was her hands that were covered in the blood of careless slain people. She didn't want to make any other suffer this. Though apparently she was not as subtle as she thought she was, and Funato noticed what she was up to. Raimaa couldn't help but agree with the concept that woman had put forward, and so spent a short while looking for identifying markers or keepsakes from the bodies. It wasn't like the ship was going to outrun her or anything.

Some might think it hubris or arrogance, but Raimaa just called it confidence. Between her Hijutsu and Heaven Thunder Boots, there wasn't much in the Shinobi world that was able to move fast enough she couldn't catch up with it. One didn't earn such a moniker as she had, didn't spread as wide as she had, if you weren't capable of doing exactly what it said on the metaphorical tin.

With the grizzly work done, she'd clean off her blades, and silently return to the ship to deposit the grim tokens of passing.

It seems that despite their best efforts, Yuzuki did, in fact, manage to notice that there were some survivors, though they seemed to all be halfway to death's door, and Raimaa's grim but necessary acts of kindness. The Konoha ninja silently agreed with the other girl's demands that they at least bring back some identifying markers of them, to allow their families the chance to have closure, although she's not sure that it would really have that effect. Perhaps it might have been better for those they left behind to have hope, even if that hope is false.

But her ponderings are cut short as she watches Raimaa returning with what she was able to bring from the bodies, her speed leaving Raika somewhat surprised, although her speed was partially what had made the kunoichi famous in the first place. She'd thought her fiancee was fast, but Raimaa was quite a bit faster. At the unbidden thought of her lover, she silently touches the ring she was keeping hidden in an inner pocket. On a mission as dangerous as this, it didn't need to be on her finger, where it might end up slipping off or possibly catching the attention of others, but that never meant it wasn't with her wherever she went.

Despite the differences in village, Raika nods once to Raimaa as she returns.

"Welcome aboard. And not a moment too soon... Land ho!"

This time, at least, Raika's voice is far more confident in her call to attention towards the shore. Her Byakugan can actually see the shoreline and the waves lapping at the glass shore, turned strange and almost alien by the crater just beyond it. Almost right away, she has to turn the focus of her Byakugan away from it, because it was so terribly abnormal. It was going to be almost impossible to explain what her highly specialized doujutsu saw, but she would have to write it down, and quickly before they start heading back, along with a careful line on the map showing their progress and the obstacles they'd had to rage against just to get to the shore. The monster they'd encountered didn't quite match the description from one of the parties that had gotten to open up the path for them, and that worried Raika somewhat, as well as the possible danger of the return trip, but she felt confident that this would be plenty of information for them to get to and from the crater safely... or moderately safely. With that final job done, she turns to the helm for Yuzuki to hear clearly.

"Back to home! Mission success!"

Yuzuki...

A long and deep breath, in and out.

I'm sorry.

It's all part of the job. It's the natural cycle simply sped along to minimise their suffering. There was nothing to be done. Nothing that would have helped overturn their fate. It is while she is lost in these thoughts that the jounin lady returns, her hands filled with items to be solemnly passed along.

At the very least, these are things to remember them by. Trinkets and belongings that will make their way back to the families whilst their flesh is flayed by water and rots. While the news will no doubt be difficult for some to swallow, it is far better than dangling hope before their very eyes.

For when the tides eventually subside on this cursed crater, there will be nothing but nightmares and despair awaiting those who had prayed for so long.

Land. The call of land softly draws her from her lull, a weight pressing down upon her shoulders as she sets their course.

"Aye aye."

Onwards. Towards home.

"Thanks" Raimaa would reply to the Hyuga. Formal and professional, not too sweet or too cold. She could be serious on rare occasion. Still, she was a little put-off that the mission was over so soon. She didn't even get to show off or anything, and showing off was like ninety percent of why she existed. So when they wheeled around and got near the shipwrecks again, Raimaa would head to the side of the ship and look out towards it.

"Let's make future voyages easier to handle. Not everyone has our amazing Helmswoman after all. Some of them might be in trouble if they had to do what she did so suddenly" Raimaa's cheerful voice tried to ease the tension, cut through the misery of what they had just experienced. Pulling out her wooden sword, she grasped it in both hands and held it ready to her side.

"Formless Rogue" she started. Not needing to do that at all, it was just fun to be theatrical. Her skin flushed red as she activated her Hijutsu, and Raimaa once again wished she could stay like this forever. Everything was so crisp, so clear. So beautiful.

"Thunder God's Sword"

With a thunderous crack of air, Shipwreck Cove became Some Stray Planks Cove as a blast of concussive air smashed the ships to kindling, dispersing them and ensure they would threaten nobody anymore. The jutsu being purely powered by muscle let her enhance it with her Hijutsu, unlike others that had a specific amount of chakra.

"Now, who's for dangos?" Raimaa would ask, putting the sword back and disgruntaly turning her hijutsu off.

NAME: Raijin'noken [Thunder God's Sword]

RANK: S.

CHAKRA USAGE: Very High

CLASSIFICATION: Bukijutsu

ELEMENT: N/A.

DESCRIPTION: Sometimes in life, you will come across a man that just needs to be dead. Like, really dead. So dead there is nothing but bits of them left about the area. So, Raimaa made this third technique, because it is so much cooler to obliterate a person with a Kenjutsu technique while using a Wooden Sword to do it. The swing of the blade is one of such phenomenal power that the displaced air can bisect tree trunks and crack the ground within a 150ft radius, and release a thunderous roar for miles around, hence the name. The actual blow is a shockwave of size and width, it's destructive power an incredible sight, and while not able to thoroughly obliterate someone like Raimaa had hoped it would, even a man capable of headbutting a Mountain into submission will be severely wounded by this technique.

It can pulverise rock into much smaller rocks and shatter wood into spliters, steel buckling with intensity inverse to it's quality. Low quality steel buckles hard enough to feel like being kicked by a horse, but high quality steel only buckles enough that it is uncomfortable to continue wearing.

However, due to the nature of physics, this power only remains within 50ft of the shockwave. as it gets further out, it loses potency, steel holding it's form (although not mitigating the shock entirely) beyond 50ft, and rocks providing adequate cover on it's edges of 100ft.

Raimaa isn't so good with the chakra-y stuff and so the shockwave is sheer manliness and concussive force, none of that limp-wristed chakra magic here.

As such one needs a Strength SA or equivalent physique SA to have the required body for the force, and Sole Bukijutsu specialisation to have the skill to swing a blade in the required manner .

However, the force required to put this technique into action is phenomenal, and so she can only use it twice with her biological arm, and strains the arm with each use, reducing it's overall efficiency in all the things, making this technique a heavy investment. Her prostetic is not as nimble as her biological arm, nor is it her sword arm, so while she can still try to use it with that, she'd suffer a 60% drop in it's force, making it generally undesirable.
