[attr="class","ritext"]The crisp morning air bit at Ri's exposed face as he stood by the village gates, snow crunching softly beneath his boots.

The sled beside him was laden with crates of medical supplies, each marked with the symbol of the Yukigakure Medic Corps.

Supplies were running low, and despite the snowstorm that had swept through Yukigakure overnight, this mission couldn't wait. Ice on the tracks had delayed the main transport route, and the people at the Keep were counting on this delivery.

Ri, as the first to arrive, took a moment to steady himself, gloved fingers absently tracing the worn edge of the sled.

His breath puffed out in clouds of white as he adjusted the green sash tied around his head, pulling it snugly to shield his ears from the cold.

The gates loomed behind him, their steel edges rimmed with frost. Ri shifted his weight, his amber eyes scanning the snow-laden path ahead. Nashida and Yui weren't here yet, but they were on their way - at least, they should be.

The mission itself wasn't supposed to be complicated - just a straightforward delivery - but out here in the north, conditions could shift quickly. Ri knew it well.

His mother had always said that harmony with the land was the only way to survive the harsh winters. It was a lesson he'd taken to heart, though the journey to Hyōzan Keep wasn't without its risks. The forested terrain was beautiful but deceptive, and if they weren't careful, the snowdrifts and icy patches could easily turn treacherous.

Ri's eyes lifted to the horizon, the soft morning light gleaming off the distant mountains. He took a deep breath, inhaling the cold, sharp scent of the snow and pine.

"Hyōzan Keep can’t afford any mistakes," he said quietly.

Talking to himself in times like these always helped clear his head.

He exhaled slowly, letting the frosty breath swirl up around his face.

"Looks like it's time," he said, amber eyes glinting with a hint of anticipation as he glanced back over his shoulder, waiting to greet his fellow shinobi.

[attr="class","ritext"]KYOKUHOKU CHIIRUI | ARCTIC LICHEN
Ri possesses the unique ability to grow, shape, and manipulate all forms of fungi, a power inherited from his Gurē clan. His control extends to all types of fungi, including molds, yeasts, and mushrooms, allowing him to cultivate these organisms on nearly any surface, even in harsh environments. What makes Ri exceptional is his genetic similarity to fungi, which grants him the ability to produce fungal secretions and enzymes, altering his cellular structure to mimic fungal anatomy. By channeling chakra, he can grow various parts of fungi directly from his body, enhancing his versatility in combat.

In addition to external manipulation, Ri can internalize fungal characteristics, converting parts of his body into fungal secretions. His natural immunity to the toxins and secretions produced by his fungi offers him significant protection. This ability extends to offensive techniques, where he can release fungal spores that disrupt his enemies with toxic, hallucinogenic, or other harmful effects. Ri can also enhance his defense by reinforcing his body with fungal growths, increasing his durability in battle.

KYŌSEI IDEN-GAKU | SYMBIONT GENETICS
Ri possesses the unique ability to merge his body with flora and the ground, drawing on his genetic similarity to fungi. By linking his chakra to the underground network of plant roots, water veins, and decomposing materials, he establishes a powerful connection to the natural world. This ability allows him to blend seamlessly with elements like trees, shrubs, roots, and soil, becoming virtually undetectable to all but those with advanced chakra recognition skills. His mastery of stealth and evasion is exceptional, enabling him to vanish into his surroundings with ease.

In addition to stealth, Ri's abilities provide extraordinary mobility. By fusing with the environment, he can travel up to two kilometers through the subterranean network of organic matter, bypassing obstacles and enemy lines. This makes him a strategic asset, capable of repositioning quickly and silently. His ability to emerge at crucial moments offers a significant advantage, whether for gathering intelligence or launching surprise attacks on his adversaries.

Nashida feels a bit... off. It's hard to explain, but ever since the day that they were already calling the "Day of Red Snow", she couldn't help but shake the feeling that something had gone very wrong, and she just wasn't sure what it was. She was still getting used to her regrown arm, which was sometimes starting to grip and squeeze at nothing, but if she noticed it, she could stop it from happening. She sighs as she feels it doing this again, focusing on extending her fingers, which instantly stops the squeezing motion. She actually wonders if her other hand is somehow making those same movements from beyond the "grave" as it were. She felt that doing a somewhat familiar mission might help her get back into the groove of things before she has to go on to the Chuunin Exams.

Granted, it was another kind of reminder: Kohaku, the last person that she'd done a mission with, was no longer a member of Yukigakure, having apparently defected to the Nisshoku, a name that now caused her fists to clench hard. She'd been walking somewhat absently, which was not the norm for her, when she sees the younger and much shorter boy that she was taking on this mission with. Well, it wasn't really fair to call him a boy, since they were currently the same rank, but he was also about seven years her junior, and she was preparing for the Chuunin Exams, as well as having made a name for herself among the villagers. A name that still felt a bit undeserved, but she wonders how much of that was guilt for her failure to fully stop their enemies.

"You must be Ri."

A short name for a short kid, Nashida thinks to herself, but this is not fair, either. After all, she's a full seven feet tall, which is nearly unheard of in Yukigakure, as she is reminded of whenever she stands next to almost any other man, even some of the tallest men in the village. Regardless, she can feel her "new" hand flexing again, and she quickly raises it and squeezes it into a fist hard, which might look a bit odd to the boy.

"I'll take point. Don't fall behind."
