Special Abilities
With thousands upon thousands of shinobi spread across dozens of shinobi villages, all of which reside in varying environments. It is not surprising that many shinobi develop unique or specialized abilities. These abilities can form in a variety of ways, ranging from genetic traits that they have inherited, specialized jutsu or abilities they learned from their clans or even just abilities they have studied or trained years to be capable of performing.
In this thread, explanations as to how one can achieve additional abilities will be explained here. Keep in mind that this will be an appeal process in which staff is looking to see genuine IC progression.
Training!Day in and day out, shinobi spend hours improving upon their skills either training on their own or with comrades. They hope that by enhancing themselves they can gain an advantage over their opponents on the battlefield. By honing their skills in certain fields they can gain an affinity for certain abilities.
A minimum of 2-4 training threads of jutsu that arguably have the same premise or revolve around the same idea must be trained.
Implementation! The lives of shinobi are unique in that they all have vastly different tasks and experiences. While some are sent on deliveries and rescues, others are sent on espionage and assassination missions. It is on these days their skills truly come into fruition. Their practice is finally put into application.
Jutsu acquired from training must be used outside of training. These don't necessarily need to be one missions, but they are the best bet for serious, sensible application. One would need a minimum of 2 of these kinds of threads.
MiscellaneousTo truly be exceptional at something, one would need to show they are capable of using their skills in strange and unusual ways. These can be especially beneficial to one's village if they have an asset no one else has and makes them stand out.
Using knowledge a character has acquired from their training and/or implementation, they should use their jutsu or affinity in a way least expected. These could be done within their implementation threads, but must be outside their training threads.
Note 1:There is an appeal process, and this is merely a guideline staff will use when seeing your argument for a special ability. The application does not necessarily have to follow every single mark that is needed, but it is what someone should aim for. The application must present a logical, traceable order of events that would lead to what you believe would be your character's acquisition of a special ability. We should be able to see their experiences and learning.
Note 2:Solo threads count once as a full thread. Any additional solo threads will mean significantly less in comparison to group threads.
Note 3:Stronger SA, most notably sage mode, will be expected to require more shown progress than a regular SA. Similarly a weaker than normal SA could have less progress shown, so long as it meets the minimum.
Note 4:We have always required there be a wait between promotions, and acquiring SA's. We have determined that any individuals seeking to promote
must complete 4 threads between acquisitions of their SA and promotion if they would like to claim another SA that comes with promotion. This ruling has been made to encourage activity on characters and to demonstrate development.
