Arashi honestly as happy that the end of her punishment for hers and Asahi's departure to Sekara was nearing its end. Her position at the entrance of the village was soon shifted to her making her leave, seeing her replacement having signed off as the teen began to make her way back into the village.

It was mid-afternoon, having been on post since early that morning and having to do rotations across the village for the remaining portion of the time. Fortunately, her doing so was able to make up for her not having to teach on certain days, and she could even practice her own techniques during her patrol duties.

Though she'd rather not have to get up so early, as after having been set on a schedule after her promotion, Arashi was used to being able to sleep in rather than awaken at the crack of dawn. Her eyes were getting harder to keep up, though with some tea, she was doing much better than before. Plus, moving rather than remaining still, did her a lot of good.

"Okay..so one more patrol and I'm done..."

Stretching her arms into the air, the Suna nin would then place the small notebook inside of her vest pocket, soon keeping her slow stride as people within the village appeared to be checking out something close to one of the walls close by. With a blank expression, Arashi would make her way to the rooftops, disappearing briefly as she then flickered down at the placed location as some of the other militia members had already arrived to inspect it.

There was a hole in the wall, not big, but large enough to give some view of just what laid outside. Along with this, there was a wreckage of wooden wheels and cloth, and a long passenger as they were unfortunately dead.

"What happened here?"

"No idea...looks like this guy lost control and plowed through the wall..."

"In a wooden cart?"

Arashi would soon lean down as she began to look over it, her expression blank as she then rose back up. It was a bit of a stretch to think that something so light could just bust a hole inside of the village from the outside. Which would lead to her noticing something off as there were small traces of metal that had been removed from it's form.

It seemed to glimmer in a way, reflecting light from it's speckles and soon prompting the girl to frown as she rose back up.

Iron maybe? Whatever it was..it isn't here anymore....and the driver is dead...

Title: Some Things are Thicker than Blood. A Sibling’s Farewell!

Summary: Miyo’s jaunt through the village getting snacks and window-shopping was brought to a halt when word reached her that something suspicious had happened. It turned out to be a murder (probably)!

Ōnakayama Miyo

The Mercurial Maiden of Sunagakure

Miyo’s morning had been relatively uneventful. She had returned from an overnight operation for the ANBU and had been off-duty since. Being that she had a surplus of free time to kill, she elected to go out about the town and do a little shopping. Miyo had stopped by a few of the local shops for breakfast, picking out little morsels here and there until she was satisfied – and as a light eater, she did not require too much. Eventually, she had wandered off with a glazed pastry that left her licking her fingers clean while she perused some other stores.

After dipping into two different clothing stores, she departed without having purchased anything. Sometimes, browsing was nice and occasionally she would come across something she just had to have, but Miyo did not locate anything like that. Instead, she heard some buzz from the locals about something strange happening near the walls of the village. After nabbing a chilled drink to sip as she made her way through the streets, Miyo wandered off in the general direction of the commotion.

She was not sure what to expect, but it certainly had not been a carriage ramming through the wall. The speed and force required seemed to be something far greater than could be managed by traditional methods. The wall was, after all, designed to withstand sieges. Miyo sipped at her drink in contemplation.

The best witness was dead, killed in the crash. By the looks of it, they had been the driver, but it was no guarantee. He could have easily been a plant. Miyo clicked her tongue as she ran her mind down conspiracy alley before snapping out of it when she saw something else even more interesting: Arashi!

Miyo perked up a bit and scurried her sister’s direction. "Well, well, well… nothing like a suspicious death in the morning, right?

She chuckled faintly, but from the direction she now observed the cart, she saw something that caused her to narrow her eyes and sip aggressively at her drink until there was naught but ice. Metal, but not just metal – suspicious metal! Acting in a way that it should not have on its own.

"Hm… That iron shouldn’t be oxidizing like that.” Miyo commented as she side-eyed Arashi. "That’s freshly exposed.

"Tell that to the driver..."

Arashi would hear the familiar tone of the bleached blonde female, looking over in her direction as she appeared to have just arrived on the scene. The chilled drink in her hand proved that she had simply been passing through, but then with Miyo, she almost always had some kind of angle to being anywhere....most of the time at least.

Seeming to ignore her for now, the younger of the two siblings would cup her hand beneath her face, her arm wrapped across her vested chest as she released a breath. The metal was the one thing that seemed outta place, and it seemed that the other female had noted the same thing, seeing it's residue and mentioning it's oxidation.

"Not unless it was exposed to water or some form of acid...probably how it was taken away...but the trail was left over..."

Looking once more toward the deceased, the teen would peek over as she began to examine him, her gaze resting upon his injuries as it appeared as though the impact had been what killed him. Still, something clearly had to have helped in allowing such a weak structure to break through the heavy and sturdy walls of the outside barrier around them.

"Either the accident killed em or he was dead long before he hit that wall..."

In saying that, the girl would then begin to make her way around the wreckage once more, leading to her finally allowing her gaze to rest upon her older sibling.

"Ya know? For someone who's supposed to be on assignment, ya got alotta free time on ya hands.."

Title: Some Things are Thicker than Blood. A Siblings Farewell?
Hex: c24e4e
Summary: Miyo suggests an alternative suspect, and then gets rather dramatic.

Ōnakayama Miyo

The Mercurial Maiden of Sunagakure

Miyo side-eyes Arashi as she let out that breath and adopted that pensive pose of hers. Acid was definitely an option, but water did not seem to be in Miyo’s opinion. It would not have had the ability to do this unless some sort of shinobi was involved who used a water-based jutsu against the cart. Water would never have been fast enough on its own. "There are other options. There are those of us who wield metals and could easily have caused such negligible damage and left bare, clean metal behind. Not saying for sure that it was an Ōnakayama, but that is a possibility.

After Arashi has some time to ponder the fate of the driver, her attention was turned towards Miyo and the younger sibling felt it was the right time to take a verbal jab at Miyo. Miyo looked offended. "Ah! Alas, my sister is not happy to see me.” She sways to the side in a playful fashion, feigning like she might faint from shock. "I spend time away, and return only to be questioned about not being working! Ah, alas! Poor Miyo, accused of being lazy!

She suddenly stops and then peeks over at Arashi to see her reaction to her blatant overreaction. "My last mission was overnight, and my next one isn’t until later today so I have some freetime. You know, I do get that from time-to-time, how else do you think I’d have time to spend with my favorite sister? Hm?

Arashi would hear the dramatic whines of Miyo, her eyes rolling to the side as she figured that perhaps she had been a bit harsh in her approach on the subject. It was simply that she was tired mostly. The fact that she was doing rotations was her own fault, but the fatigue of these morning routes was starting to get to her. Thankfully, this was the last one, but still to have it end like this was not exactly pleasant.

Things had been relatively peaceful, so her having to investigate this was somewhat of a downer. But she supposed considering the state of the dead man before them, she didn't have it worse than them.

"Sorry?"

Shrugging her shoulders, the teen would then look over the wreckage again, taking in the words of the older Oonakayama member as she checked out the supposed victim.

It made sense that perhaps there was another component that she hadn't considered, and it being that of a member of their very own clan wasn't exactly the most ideal. Still, there were few people in the village that would use jutsu similar to acid and even less that were capable of water manipulation.

"Ya might wanna take this back to the manor...tend to the body and inform his kin of his departure once you have verified who they are..."

With the militia beginning to work upon removing the man and the wagon, Arashi would then look over toward Miyo as she then placed one hand upon her hip.

"I get it...if ya really wanna spend time together...I guess we can do so by looking into this...Ya said that it could be someone in the Oonakayama clan right?"

There were very few members, but those that were capable of iron sand manipulation were even less.

There was her father, brother, and a select number of people that had possessed similar traits. Yet they weren't exactly shinobi. They were accountants...or at least the largest portions were.

"Looks like we gotta head to the compound..."

Moving passed her, the teen would soon look over her shoulder once again, sighing as she then closed her eyes as she paid her respects to the dead man, soon continuing forward.

"It’s just a possibility.” Miyo replied with a slight shrug, as if she was not confident in the assessment to start with. "Chances are it is not one of the clan, but… never know. Every clan has their bad apples, and ours is no exemption from that.

As Arashi mae her way past Miyo, the ashen-haired girl stood there and watched, slowly turning to observe her sister as the girl walked ahead for a moment. After grinning mischievously, she followed along just behind her. "I was looking at something, yeah.” She added in a sing-song tone before walking side-by-side. "And I did say it is possible, but I do highly doubt it will be the case in the end. Most of our clan should be accounted for and I am not sure we have many blatant criminal-types, but some people can do crazy things when they get desperate.

"But yeah… not exactly how I’d like to spend my time with you but I will take what I can get.” Miyo added as she side-eyed Arashi.

Miyo wasn't wrong...

If it weren't for the few that considered themselves above certain rules, there wouldn't be any Missing-nin. Though in her own fair share of events, she could probably be thought of as one too.

Or at least would be if she didn't actually try to be good...

With the two of them now on the path toward the complex, she'd hear the older female comment on how this not being the most fun thing the two could be doing together, a sigh would escape her lips as she looked over in her direction with a serious expression.

"Look...I'm sorry I haven't kept to my word in us hangin out more...I've just been busy with..stuff..."

Gesturing to the side, the teen would then hold her hands out as she signaled toward her more formal attire to that of a militia member for further proof.

"Not to mention that I'm currently on punishment by bein on guard duty so don't really have much free time on my hands ya know..."

Crossing her arms, Arashi would then close her eyes as she continued to speak.

"Not to mention being an instructor, looking after Setsuna and Take, tryin to balance a relationship with all the other crazy things that go on around me...and I might as well be in shinobi mode all the time..and with dad...He'd probably be great with that idea..."

The girl wasn't attempting to complain, especially since a lot of this had to do with her being impulsive and not getting away with it.

"We don't all get to be impulsive without some kinda consequence...and mine are usually worse just going to a desert club..."

Ōnakayama Miyo

"I’m definitely not blaming you.” Miyo replies as she reaches out and places a hand on Arashi’s shoulder. "I’m busy, you’re busy, we’re all busy. There’s a lot of stuff going on and there isn’t anything that can be done about it but to continue living our lives.

She smiles reassuringly at her sister and then leans her directly slightly. "But, you know, if you wanted to you could always invite me with on some of your escapades. You might get in less trouble with someone to watch your back!

Miyo’s smile broadens into a big, toothy smile. Was she serious? Didn’t look like it, but she also wasn’t one to joke a lot. And Miyo did have a bit of a mischievous streak, especially when it came to weaseling her way out of situations.

She does, however, give her a bit of a suspicious look. "Desert club? You’re going out to clubs without me? Tisk, tisk!

Miyo shakes her head in disappointment. "I feel like you forget I exist, sometimes!

"Ya pretty hard to forget..."

Nudging her with her hip, Arashi would flash her a toothy grin before then continuing her stride forward.

"Also no..I don't go out to clubs...their not my thing...I'll leave the ass shakin to you sis..."

Despite a lot of her outgoing exploits, Arashi didn't do a lot of social gathering save for functions that she either volunteered to be part of or had to go due to mandate. As the daughter of the Kazekage, she did have to show face on occasions when her parents couldn't, which was similar to what Miyo had to do as well. It was all part of being in a family that was such a strong point in the history and culture of Sunagakure.

That was what made this case all the more strange with it being a possible crime committed by one of it's own clan members.

Though just a theory, any truth behind it would come to light the moment they met with the elders of the group. Coming to the compound, the two would easily be greeted by one such member envoy, the younger gentleman escorting the two further into the structure.

It was rare for her to even come here, especially in light of her family living within the Kage Mansion. Still, the place wasn't too far off from many other clan complex. It was soaking with history across every wall, and those that were within it seemed either hard at work or simply in awe at seeing the two moving through the halls.

Before long, they would be taken into a room, an elderly man seated there as he looked toward the two before bowing his head.

"Lady Miyo and Arashi...It has been some time since we've had the presence of Lord Takato's kin within our halls...I imagine that this is of an important nature to have come unannounced like this..."

Arashi would place her hand upon her hip, releasing a sigh as she made sure to bow as well before doing so out of respect.

"Actually Eisaku-sama....it is...there was a incident near the wall awhile ago and we have reason to think that it might concern a member of the Oonakayama clan.."

Eisaku would stroke his beard for a moment, a small smile crossing his lips as he looked upon these children.

"That is a strong claim to make of your own clan Lady Arashi...especially in knowing that most within this compound do not entertain the idea of using ninjutsu...if I'm not mistaken...it was only your father who helped in that divide of our general means of structure..."

Summary: Miyo blatantly checks out Arashi and teases her before they arrive to the clan compound to be met by the elders, who Miyo also pokes fun of. She might have a problem…

Ōnakayama Miyo

The Mercurial Maiden of Sunagakure

Miyo tips her head and gives Arashi a glance when she is bumped by her sister’s hip. "Well, clubs aren’t my thing either, really…” Miyo leans back a tiny bit as Arashi continues, and then smirks mischievously. "Aww, but it’s just so lovely! And you shake it so well!”

She punctuates her statement by bumping Arashi back with her hip. However, she doesn’t necessarily part right away but moves closer to her and wraps an arm around her, resting her hand on Arashi’s hip as if holding her so she can’t escape. It allowed her to get close enough to tease her a little more. "Before my next long assignment you’re going to come out and have fun with me, okay?

However, before that conversation could go any further, they entered the clan compound, which distracted Miyo enough for her to forget about it for the moment. They had to be at least a bit more serious right now, and she could do that when needed.

"It wasn’t my sister’s idea, Eisaku-san,” Miyo interjects. "But mine. As you know, Arashi inherited her mother’s abilities, not ours, and you also know that I there isn’t anyone who understands our abilities better than me.

Miyo holds up her hand, palm to the ceiling and a little bead of mercury pools to the tip of her index finger to help make a point. That dangerous metal was just as dangerous to other metals as it was to humans, and it’s amalgamation properties had a tendency to eat everything it came into contact with.

"I only suggested it may have been someone with our techniques because of the way the metal looked at the site. It had been damaged, but freshly-so, and had not had time to restore is oxidation layer. It was clean enough to not be from the impact, but likely occurred from something we could do, or someone with some sort of acidic techniques – or just tools. So, we thought we would stop by to see if you could point us in the right direction.

Miyo twirls the little mercury bead around her fingers a moment before it soaks back into her imperceptible layer of armor. "We know it wasn’t you, though, Eisaku-san, we’d have caught you before you had a chance to flee the scene.

She chuckles a little as she pokes fun of the elder.

Miyo had been quick to come to Arashi's defense in the assumptive conclusion presented. Though Eisaku was clearly disturbed by the notion, the idea seemed outside anything he had known in the people that lived and moved about this place, the evidence presented by the bleach blonde female did leave him questioning the possibility.

With her mild joke of him not being a suspect, the older male would glance over at Arashi and then look back toward Miyo with a calm expression. The girl had been fortunate to have been taken in by Takato and his wife family, having long established herself as a member of the fold, if not for the lack of blood relation. She was Oonakayama, but not truly a member of the royal family that was seated as Kage. That title was left to the youngest of the two, their first born.

But both appeared to have their fair share of issues, one being the vessel of a demon and the other seeming to have some disregard and much more rebellious tendencies. Yet, such was likely born of living within Takato's care.

"I will admit that your evidence does conclude to such thinking...but I have yet a notion as to assume that would give any clue as to whom among the group could be considered capable of it..."

Eyes seemin to shift, Arashi would raise her brow as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"I think ya do...but your protectin them...Eisaku-sama...this is important...a man is dead...if your harboring a murderer within this place that makes it look even worse..."

In her statement of this, the elder would release a breath before shaking his head.

"I....do know of one such person that fits with the abilities in which you assumed were at hand in this...Though I did not see him report in this morning to his post..."

Summary: Miyo doubles the sass as they narrow in on their prospective culprit!

Ōnakayama Miyo

The Mercurial Maiden of Sunagakure

Troublemaker or not, it would appear that Miyo’s half-hearted proposal of an Ōnakayama culprit in this case was starting to pay off. She did not know what Arashi had thought about it, but Miyo definitely had not expected anything to come of it. However, lo and behold, not only did Eraiku know about it, but he was hiding the culprit, too! Arashi’s deft analysis of their vaunted elder had proven extremely effective, as did her handling of the ‘interrogation’.

After seeing Arashi cross her arms, when Eiraku began to get defensive, Miyo cocked her hips to the side and copied Arashi, doubling the young-lady sass that he had to deal with. Such great force was overwhelming in the face of the guilty man and he promptly divulged the information after admitting his attempted duplicity.

"Honestly, I had expected this to be a dead end.” Miyo comments after Eiraku had finished, and she even looks over at Arashi to see if she could confirm a similar thought from her sister. "But, whether they are guilty or not, we would be remiss if we didn’t check into this fellow that wasn’t at his post this morning. I assume you’ll cooperate and provide the name.

"Same here...It's bad enough thinking that one of our own clan is responsible...but it's even worse thinkin that an elder was attemptin to hide it..."

Arashi would brush of her hair from her face, allowing the shortened strands to rest slightly upon her forehead as she looked back once more toward Eisaku as he seemed to lower his head.

"I hid no one..as I stated, he has similar abilities that would connect to your suspect, but that does not make him the one to do so..."

As Miyo seemed to confirm that this did still deserve investigating, even if he weren't guilty or involved, Eisaku would nod in compliance, his hands resting behind his back.

"The young man in which I speak of is Oonakayama Fudo...he is in charge of our record keeping to the history of our clan. He's family has been in such a role for generations and secured the knowledge of our heritage..."

Arashi would listen as she held a blank expression on her face.

"So he's a bookkeeper?"

"Yes..and a very dedicated one...I have known him all his life..he can be reckless and often is tardy..but he is a respectable young man who is dedicated to our past..."

Cupping her hand beneath her face, the young Jounin would close her eyes as she thought about this.

"Ya said that he had one of the abilities in which we suggested was on the scene...which?"

"Fudo's ability to wield minerals is very much like that of any special clan member...but his element is rather unique...The metal in which he has applied to his own is quite corrosive...nitric acid...when applied...it can easily melt iron in steel, though when exposed to heat..it release such chemicals into the makeup of it's release. Somehow he has managed to contain it for use within his jutsu..."

"Clever guy...I've heard of people doing that within the clan before...hell you use mercury..."

Gesturing toward Miyo with a serious expression, she'd then place her hands back at her side as she looked once more at Eisaku.

"Where would his quarters be?"

"In the living area of the compound...it is not too far from this building.."

"Don’t worry, Eisaku. My sister might not have chosen the best words to use, but your boy, Fudo, is just a potential suspect at this point and a lead that we need to clear up so we can progress to other things.” Miyo replies as she smiles reassuringly. "Granted, there is a chance it was him, in which case we will do our best to resolve the situation cleanly and without issue.

Miyo hoped that her words would help ease the old man’s mind, especially after Arashi was a little bit harsh on him, indirectly or otherwise. Though the others had trouble wrapping their head around one of their clanmates being a potential criminal, Miyo did not have the same issue. She had spent enough time as an ANBU, now, that nothing as simple as that surprised her anymore. Anyone could be a criminal, especially one of passion, such as what Miyo believed to be the case here.

She turns to Arashi and places a hand on her shoulder to urge her towards the exit. "Let’s get going, sister.

Miyo had to consider what Eisaku said, though. "So, this Fudo uses nitric acid in some capacity. Quite toxic, very reactive, but not a metal, which means that if he is using our magnetism then he is combining it with a metal that doesn’t react with it.” Miyo rubs at her cheek in thought as she walks. "The only good news is that my mercury reacts with it and creates a solution that should render it harmless to us.

"Anyway, we’ll worry about such things later. Let’s find this fellow and see what he has to say.

Somethings are thicker than Blood, A Siblings Farewell

TAG.

WORDS. 200

NOTES.

As the two would exit the room, Arashi would nod respectfully toward the clan elder as they took leave to the living quarters. While perhaps her approach had been a bit harsh and maybe even too direct, it had been in reaction to the crime itself, and the possible act of Eisaku shielding for the young man. Though politics and wordplay had never been something that the teen had quite found a balance on.

With Miyo explaining what they knew of the situation, she'd comment that her own technique would be able to counter any effects of the nitric acid compound that Fudo was apparently able to wield, leading to her releasing a breath as she shook her head.

"That is assuming that we have to fight him...I'm not seein a motive yet...what would possess a bookkeeper to attack a deliver shipment and then flee the scene?"

There was also the cargo that was missing as well, leaving the remaining question of just what it had been? Things weren't adding up just yet to create a bigger picture, but perhaps going to the young man's room would shed some light on the matter. Perhaps even prove his innocence.

"Also...really? Better choice in words?"

Raising her brow, the girl would cross her arms over her chest as she proceeded beside the older female, her eyes rolling to the side as she walked.
