[attr="class","skullbody"]After being told of a special visitor coming over from an allied village in Iwagakure, Jun was alongside a member of the diplomacy corps were tasked with welcoming to the village they were set to arrive at one of the port towns and Jun was to take them to the train station that led into Yukigakure. She’d never left the village in her 6 years since arrive and while her family did come from Bear country never had they traveled too Iwagakure due to fears of retaliation, but that was past them now and she was eager to welcome this new guest into their village doing her best to be as hospitable as possible. He was assigned to board with her for one night and live amongst her family in their compound in the back of the village.

Jun had never had a guest over at her home and had made preparations for his arrival wanting to give him a taste of her culture. Her family was much like that of tribal individuals living off the land and being very self-sufficient people. Many of their homes were made from wood and while modernity had slowly begun to be integrated into their culture such as the many innovations from Yukigakure. Much of it was relegated to the fancies of the younger generation who grew up with it like Jun herself, and many of the older shinobi like Jun’s parents were still very much traditional.

As the early morning transitioned into the late morning around 10 A.M. the young Muramatsa along with her chunin companion who was a member of the diplomacy corps would await the arrival of her Iwagakurian ally by the port town with a small sign in their hands that read. "Himishi-san.” in the diplomacy corps members hand and the Iwagakure logo in Jun’s she stood with a light smile as the chill of the wind would blow her white pigtails about in the morning air.

[Himishi Jou]

Himishi Jou was riding on a ship traveling to Yuki no Kuni, home of Yukigakure, one of the minor shinobi villages, and an ally to Iwagakure. He was not traveling alone though. Due to his status as a genin, Jou was being accompanied by an Iwa Jounin who is also his current sensei, but it was only a temporary arrangement. Jou was one of the unlucky few in his village to not be in a proper genin squad. He has had to learn from different teachers, not really developing any sort of bond with them. This made things quite lonely for Jou, which gives him mixed emotions about it. Still, he shouldn't let this get to him...especially when there are other things to worry about, like why he was heading to the Snow Country.

The ship has finally made it to its destination, a simple port town. Once docked, the ship opened up, and folks who were traveling aboard started to walk out. Eventually, the Iwa Jounin stepped out, wearing the standard Iwagakure uniform and forehead protector. The jounin appeared to be pretty laidback, a bit of a contrast to his temporary student. Speaking of, Jou was the next to step out, wearing his usual attire as well as his own silver and black forehead protector. He also had on a black backpack filled with stuff like extra clothing, a toothbrush, and other essentials. Not only that, but he also has some fried dumplings that he made himself, enough to share with the people he is supposed to be staying with...hopefully. He also brought some medical supplies, but most importantly....some wrestling-related comics...which he plans on keeping hidden.

When it comes to equipment, Jou was prepared....but the same cannot be said about him being mentally prepared.

It was clear that he was a little tensed, one clear sign being how tight he was holding onto his backpack straps with his hands. His temporary sensei picked up on this and crossed his arms. "What's up, kid?" the man said, causing Jou to quickly look up at him. "N-Nothing! It's just..." The young Himishi's crimson eyes shifted forward, looking around at the folks who were at the docks, all there for different reasons of course. "S-So many...people..." Jou was not a fan of this, but at least he was not here for all of them.

Jou was here for some sort of exchange involving having to board with a family of the country for one night. Jou was the one who signed up for and wanted to do this with a bit of encouragement from his current sensei...but he still couldn't help but feel nervous about all of this.

"Yeah...Might be a pain trying to find em with all these people." the jounin said...even though that is not why Jou was worried. Though Jou let out a small sigh of relief from this. This meant that he would not have to confront them right away.

But it did not take long. With one quick glance, the sensei was able to find them. "Ah, wait, there they are." After hearing that, Jou jumped a bit and looked over to where the man was pointing. There were two folks each holding a sign that says "Himishi" and the other with the Iwagakure symbol. "U-uh..." "C'mon, kid let's greet them." With that, the sensei was already on the move, and Jou started to reluctantly follow from behind.

"Guessing you're with the Diplomacy Corps?" The jounin spoke up as he approached those two as Jou peeked his head out from behind him nervously. I'm Suzuki Mikado, an Iwagakure Jounin....and this here..." He then stepped out of the way to reveal the hiding white-haired teen. "...is Himishi Jou." Jou's eyebrows then rose as if he were just put on the spot, causing him to clench onto his backpack straps tighter. "I-I...yes..." he said, his tone low as he glanced away, causing the jounin to sigh and shake his head.

[attr="class","skullbody"]The young genin stood and politely smiled as they were greeted by the two the members of their allied nation. After his greeting the diplomacy corpsman adjusted his glasses and acknowledged the friendly jounin with a tilt of his head, extending a pleasantry of his own. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Mikado, I am Enya Tomura.” before she could say anything Jun placed her sign away. "Hello there, nice to meet you I’m Jun Muramatsa a pleasure!” she’d say with a pleasant smile.

She noticed that he seemed to look away she figured he must’ve been shy. "Jou-san Muramatsa-san is the woman you’ll be staying the night with after we get the two of you back to the village she’ll be in charge of taking care of you and showing you around.” the older diplomacy corps member would state his voice was quick and swift. "We hope you’ll enjoy your time here, now then if you need too say your goodbye’s but make haste, the train will be departing soon.” in the background a voice could be heard calling for everyone to come aboard. "Here’s your ticket…come find us when you’re ready!” the girl would say handing him a ticket made of white tape with the Yukigakure logo on it. Afterwards she’d turn about and follow along with the diplomacy corps member.

"You seem excited, remember you’re working with the diplomacy corps so make sure you’re as hospitable as you can be give our ally a warm welcome!” Jun would nod to her chaperone and look back at the young boy and smile. "Yes Sir, I will do my best!” the girl was attempting to try her hand at learning the art of diplomacy. The Yuki Lady told her to broaden her horizons and she figured this was the perfect way to start, she wasn’t fully sure how she felt about it just yet, but she was going to take too it as best she could, but couldn't help but be intruiged by the strangers it was her first glimpse of the outside world to think had her families envoy come from another direction she may have just wound up there instead. Their headband was interesting as was their style of dress, her mind was already racing with question she couldn't wait to finally get a chance to sit down and get to know all about him.

As the others spoke, Jou continued to look away as he listened. It was very clear that he was on the shy side, especially with new folks.

"W-wait." After hearing the older diplomacy corps member's response, Jou tensed up a bit and quickly looked up at him. "I-I-I'm staying with...h-her!?" Jou asked, his eyes shifting to the one called Jun before quickly looking down at the ground. For whatever reason, Jou thought he would be staying with the other diplomacy person not that it would make things less stressful for the white-haired genin...but it never crossed his mind that it would be....a girl! Is that even allowed!? The thought of that made poor Jou light up like a tomato.

Meanwhile, the jounin with Jou sighed before placing a hand on the teen's head. "Please excuse JoJo here. He's a...little shy." 'a little' being a clear understatement. Jou then quickly looked up at the guy, his face in a bit of a pout. "D-Don't call me tha-"But before Jou could finish, he noticed the ticket being handed to him. He looked at Jun for a second before quickly averting his eyes as he took the ticket. "Th-thank you." he said quietly. He then subtly glanced at those two as they walked off assumingly to the train.

The moment Jun looked back, Jou quickly looked down but then looked up at his sensei as he heard him clear his throat. "Gotta make this quick." he said, causing Jou to lightly nod. "Yeah..." He then crouched down to be on Jou's level before continuing. "I know this is your first time out of the village...hell, out of the country, but you'll do fine." the jounin claimed, but that only led to Jou glancing away. "I'll be spending the night in one of the Inns in the town. We'll meet back here tomorrow." he claimed, leading Jou to nod. After hearing the conductor's last call, Jou looked up at his sensei than at the train before heading over to catch up with the other two.

"Umm..." The moment he caught up, Jou would start looking back down at the ground again. Jou just needed to remind himself that this isn't going to be so bad...right?

[attr="class","skullbody"]As the girl would step away the young man sounded nervous from what she could hear about having the stay with her he’d look to her and then look down, she could tell he was rather shy and thought to herself. "Guess I’d better watch how I talk to him, best not to overwhelm him with too many questions.” she’d think recalling her time with Hinata. With that she’d walk alongside her Diplomacy corps chaperone and make her way towards the train there was a long line and a great deal of people he’d mutter to himself and he caught up to the group.

"Come along, Jou-san!” she’d gesture for him to tag along and would guide him towards the entry way to the train where she’d take a seat allowing in the aisle allowing Jou to sit beside the window it was the best view on the many different locales for his ride there and she wanted to make sure that he was enjoying himself. Afterwards their chaperone would take a seat in the aisle directly adjacent to Jou and Jun. Glancing over at the two after getting himself settled.

"The train ride from here to the station outside of Yukigakure may take somewhere in the realm of an hour or so, so please sit back and relax.” he’d state. Jun would then turn and face Jou pulling out a small notebook from her pocket. "Are you excited Jou-san? You’ll get to see all the beauty of Yukigakure from right where you're sitting!” she’d say pointing out the window. After a moment the ticket courier would come around taking everyone’s tickets with Jun handing hers over to him and also taking a moment to take Jou’s and hand if off as well.

Afterwards the girl would open up her notebook and begin flipping through the pages, each one containing a different drawing on each page many of them resembling many commonly known seals and would look akin to calligraphy, she’d then pull out a pen and begin making a few sketches. "So tell me again Jou Himishi is your name correct? Tell me about yourself?" the girl would ask wanting to start her questions off rather softly, before grilling him with her enthusiasm.

Jou briefly looked up at Jun, giving a small nod as she told him to come along. He picked up the pace with his walking, but his attention briefly went back to his sensei who was already in the process of taking his leave. Guess there was no going back at this point. Jou knew that he was going to have to suck it up, and just keep pushing forward, and this mentality was keeping him from attempting to turn around and run back to his sensei. He may be shy...but Jou was no coward when push comes to shove.

Jou followed the other two into the entryway of the train, trying his best not to draw too much attention to himself. He still kept his head low, but not so low that he wouldn't be able to see the other genin and her chaperone. Without saying a word, Jou sat where Jun wanted him to it seems and he placed his gloved hands onto his lap. He gave the other teen a brief look but then started to look down at his hands. "R-right...relax..." Jou said in a soft tone after hearing what Jun said. The duration of the train ride was the least of the white-haired Himishi's worries. She had then spoken up again, causing Jou to glance up once more. This time, his red eyes glanced over at the window he was next to. She wasn't kidding, the scenery was good...at least from what he can see so far.

The timid guy then heard the flipping of pages, and slowly looked over at Jun's notebook. A part of him wondered what was in it, but he did not wish to intrude. "Y-yeah. J-Jou...Jou Himshi." Jou answered, a little better than his previous responses...but he was not ready for the next question!

"M-m-me....!?" Jou pointed at himself, looking as if he were just asked a very personal question. "There's umm...really no-nothing interesting...about me."Jou claimed as he twiddled his thumbs with a bit of a nervous smile. "I-I'm...I'm a genin...." No duh! "But...you already know that..." Jou closed his eyes and placed his palm against his face. Forget the night, this was going to be a long train ride....

"Nonsense there must be something!” she’d state with a jovial tone in her voice in order to try and encourage him to stow his shyness and make him feel a tad bit more comfortable. "What is your home like…?” she’d state taking her pen and beginning to sketch the top of some kanji, glancing over at Jou every now and then. "I’ve lived in Yukigakure for the last 6 years and almost ended up in Iwagakure. What's it like…? It must be lovely.” she’d say her pen scratching against the paper as the train began moving a small rumble beneath their feet.

She was curious but didn’t want to overwhelm him, however sooner or later he’d say something that would surely set her off but she kept her behavior in check. Out by the window the snow would pass by in a rush as wintry trees could be seen passing the two of them by as the morning sun hit a bit of a higher peak in the sky moving away from the frosty harbor and getting closer towards one of the station stops. The chaperone would look to the two. "You’ll have to forgive Jun’s habit for asking questions she’s a very curious girl never seems to know when to stop.” he’d remark. "Well Excuse me for wanting to learn.” she’d joke with him.

"Umm..." Jun's attempts at encouraging Jou were noted and honestly appreciated. Most folks would've just given up by now, either telling the boy things like, 'Nevermind' or 'It's okay, you don't have to.' Some of them tried being nice with it, but Jou could still feel the disappointment as clear as day. A part of Jou was glad that Jun wasn't dismissive...but he still struggled to think of something.

She then brought up Jou's home, causing the boy to glance up a little at her, but before he could say anything, she started to speak again. "Really?" Jou asked before blinking a few times. He wondered how she ended up here instead of Iwakagure? Appears that Jun wasn't born here, but she certainly fits the part....at least Jou imagines. He didn't ask though, not wanting to come off as nosy...plus, he was supposed to be the one talking about himself.

"Iwakagure isn't...bad." Jou said before quickly waving his hands dismissively. "N-not that I'm saying that it is bad or anything! It is nice and less....snowy." Jou claimed. "I mostly stay around my clan's compound though." Jou said, his voice getting a bit lower as he did. He felt a little more at home at the Himishi compound compared to the rest of the village...and there were fewer people teasing him there.

The train would begin to move, getting Jou's attention. He glanced out of the window and watched as snow-covered trees were passed by, as white as his hair. One could tell from Jou's expression that he kinda liked what he was seeing.

The chaperone then made a comment about Jun who then followed up with a little joke of her own, getting a small chuckle out of Jou. But the moment he faced the two, he immediately turned away, getting a bit flustered. "I-I umm...know how to cook." Jou said, finally coming up with an answer. Jou secretly prides himself on his cooking and is something he has confidence in. He cannot wait until he gets to share the food he has brought with him with Jun and her family.

[attr="class","skullbody"]As Jun went back to her drawing she’d note Jou’s words about Iwagakure being a nice place she’d smile slightly at his words and turn to him again making light eye contact. "Really?” there was some enthusiasm in her voice. "What are the buildings like…?” she’d ask as the two of them would pass by some of the more wooden looking buildings that would pepper some of the long ranges outside of the white snowy areas where they’d pass by.

He would mention a clan which would put a spark in the girls eye she’d never known about clans outside of Yukigakure so she was very keen on what she could learn from clans from other lands. "And you’re clan, what do they do…?” She'd say her enthusiasm gave her the credence to pause on her drawing for a moment and turn to another page and begin taking notes, giving him her full undivided attention.

"Jun…” the diplomacy corps member would remark, trying to get the girl to calm down. "I’m just asking…” she’d say a reassuring tone in her voice as she gave a flustered chuckle. "He's intriguing that's all." The diplomacy corps member would keep a sharp eye on her he'd been informed by the Yuki Lady how she tends to get and wanted to make sure she didn't overwhelm their guest with her curiosity, but trusted her judgement for now, withholding his scolding.

But before she could take another note he’d mention that he liked to cook, which was something that Jun herself was familiar with. "Oh you do? What types of food do you make, i-is it different from what we have in Yukigakure? I like to cook as well, but my efforts are rather tyronic at best.” she’d remark that they too now have some common ground, blushing a tad from the frenetic pacing of her questions. "S-sorry." the diplomacy corps member would note this. "There she goes..." he'd think to himself.

"The buildings..." Jou appeared to be pondering a little over this question, but didn't really take long with it. "They are mostly made of stone...It would be easy to tell if you were to look at them." Jou claimed. It was fitting for a village like Iwakagure. The buildings here do not appear to be structured the same way, appearing more wooden in appearance. It certainly gives off a warm and cozy vibe which Jou can really appreciate. He then ended up bringing up his clan's compound which seems to have really caught Jun's attention.

"U-Umm..." Her shift in tone caught Jou off guard, that on type of not being sure if he should say anything about his clan. Sure Jun is from an allied village...but clans tend to be pretty tight-lipped about their kekkei genkai or hijutsu. He then heard the chaperone call Jun's name, causing her to make a comment that lit his face up a bit. "I-I'm really not...." Jou claimed with a shy little smile as he looked down once more, tapping his index fingers together. He thought a little more about the question, and ended up coming to the conclusion that he could probably tell her a small bit about it.

"We from th-the Himishi clan has a u-umm special...um...doujutsu..." he said, his tone a bit on the lower side. He didn't go into details about what the doujutsu can do.

He then ended up bringing up cooking, causing more questions to be thrown his way. "I-I cook various...things." Jou claimed before glancing out of the window once more. "Sashimi...Soba...Unagi...." Jou wasn't even scratching the surface of what he can cook. One could probably tell that Jou was being a little more confident as he spoke about food, but like Jun, he ended up quickly blushing and shying away as he noticed his boldness. "S-sorry...Mine isn't really that great either..." he claimed...but that was far from the truth. "I bet you will get better at it." he glanced back over with a small yet reassuring smile. "I-I did bring a little something...for you all to try...I-I mean if you want to...." He said before quickly raising his hands up once more. "O-Of course you don't have to i-if you don't want to, but...ummmm..." And he was back to being a flustered mess again....

"Made of Stone…really?” she envisioned it tall towering stone building, a representation of strength and power truly a fascinating display. As an answer to her following question he went on to explain that he clan had a dojutsu. "A dojutsu…I guess we’ve got more in common than a few recipes?” she’d say laughing to him.

"My clan has something similar. Perhaps if we have time we could train together, I’ve never encountered someone else who had one.” she’d say with a smile, turning back to jot down some notes about what she had learned. Her overzealous questioning reared it’s head again. "I…I’m sorry I’m being a bit nosy, as our chaperone says I tend to have a passion for knowledge, I don't mean to pry.”

As they kept talking the conversation would shift back to food, she’d notice that his tone would shift. He sounded more confident and more interested picking up on this. The girl would leave the topic of clans alone and would focus on that subject for a time he mentioned he’d brought something with him but she'd stop interrupting him and allow him to finish.

"Don’t apologize.” she’d say her voice getting a little softer. "This is an interesting conversation!” the girl would say handing him a compliment hoping to make him be much less shy, wanting him to be more confident. "You sound like you know how to cook various dishes, I mostly know how to cook and grill meats, things you’d see at a butcher shop or on a camping trip. My family tends to live off the land and we keep that tradition alive through our cooking. I'd love to try your dishes.”

As the chaperone watched the two he'd look to Jun. "She has a knack for gathering information at least, but might be a bit too loose lipped as well she needs work, but she has potential." he'd think to himself.

"H-Huh?" Jou blinked a few times at Jun's little comment about having a few things in common. Was she from a clan as well? No...Not only that, but apparently, her clan has a doujutsu as well? A small spark of intrigue showed up on Jou's features from hearing this. "R-really? You too?" There were clearly other doujutsu related clans out there and Jou was fully aware of this, but this was the first time he has encountered someone else with one besides the Tomokenzangan. He was curious about what it might be able to do, and what it looks like.

"Y-yeah....sure." Another small smile followed by a nod. Jou was also a fan of training, though he normally either does it by himself or with his sensei. He's always trying to improve on his skills as a shinobi, coming off as almost a completely different person when focused on it. He's often hesitant about other folks asking him to train with them...not that he gets many offers anyway, but he was truly curious about what Jun could do now...He just couldn't pass that up. "N-No it's okay....!" Jou said before scratching the side of his cheek with his finger. "I love learning a lot...too." He added which was true. Unlike most Himishi, Jou did not have their super intelligence, but this does not stop him from seeking knowledge as well, trying to push his mind as hard as his body. He loves to learn and always finds himself immersed in whatever new thing he's been taught.

As for the food, Jou started to get apologetic again, feeling like he was overstepping boundaries by wanting his food to be tasted. He shyly looked back up at Jun after being complimented, listening to what the Yukigakure shinobi has to say about her own cooking. "Th-that sounds delicious....I would like to learn how you make it...i-if it's okay." Jou added before nodding happily at Jun's comment about wanting to try his food....with a hint of eagerness. He was starting to warm up to Jun a little, despite still stuttering most of the time. He wasn't looking away from her as much now.

"Oh, i-is that notebook what you use to take down notes?" Jou asked as his eyes focused on the book, now taking a bit more initiative in the conversation.

"I do!” the youth would state more eagerness in her voice. "It’s quite interesting. I'd be excited to show you sometime.” He'd remark about enjoying learning and internally hoped that he enjoy learning about her as much as she enjoyed learning about him.

Shortly after the conversation trailed onto food once more, Jou seemed to be interested in the different types of grilled meats that the girl knew how to make. "Oh delightfully so! I’d love to let you try some, we’ve got goat, wolf meat, and if you roast it properly you don’t even need too much seasoning.” she’d state getting hungry just thinking about it.

As she held her pen aloft in her hands the young genin would ask if that was where she kept her notes. "Oh my journal, why yes I mostly it use it to practice my calligraphy and take down notes…” it was somewhat absurd but the girl wanted to make sure she always had the information she needed for every situation and always kept her notebook on hand for when she needed it.

"Would you like to see some of my drawings?” She’d say turning her book towards him and flipping the pages to some of her drawings which show a wide variety of art pieces ranging from portraits made from kanji to more aesthetic drawings of elegantly drawn Kanji in the form of calligraphy.

"O-okay." Jou nodded before glancing out of the window once more, a small smile still clearly on his face. "I-I will show you my doujutsu too." he added. It was only fair that Jou would show Jun his ability in return. He was still a little hesitant about that, but hearing that she also has one, and does not seem to be afraid of showing a foreigner like him did make Jou feel a little more comfortable. Jou may not be as vocal as the kunoichi, but he was interested in learning more about her now, other than her doujutsu. He also wants to learn more about this country which is the main reason why he signed up for this.

"Woah...That all sounds delicious." Jou added, referring to the food. He was honestly getting a little hungry himself. He does have that food in his backpack, but he did not plan on taking that out until they reached their destination. He wanted not just Jun, but her family to try it as well. He was tempted, but that food was going to have to wait. Plus it might go well with whatever might be prepared back at her home.

Jou did not realize Jun was an artist. The moment she brought up calligraphy along with her note-taking, Jou's eyes nearly sparkled with interest. He did not notice it, but Jou was leaning over a little more. "S-sure!" Jou replied. He wasn't much of an artist himself but he can certainly appreciate a good drawing. He was now looking down at the book with a subtle look of awe on his face. She was not kidding when she said she does calligraphy. The way the kanji were elegantly drawn furthered the teen's interest. "These are really good, Jun. H-how long have you been drawing?" Jou asked before looking back at her. "You must be a natural at it."

[attr="class","skullbody"]The girl would turn the pages showcasing more of her work and would note him turning away and would chuckle by now the chaperone had fallen asleep and it seemed like these two had been having quite the time together. As he asked another question about her art and how long she’d been drawing, the girl would stop to think. "Roughly 12 years now, my father taught me both my parents are artists but my father is by far the most proficient.” the girl had been drawing since she was six years old having been taught by her father when she would wait for her mother to come back from their nomadic hunts when she was younger. As she kept turning the pages she’d shut the book once she’d gotten to it and pull it away.

"N-no no, sorry that one’s not finished yet, I still need more time to refine it.” as she hid the book beneath it would read Jou’s name. It was simple practice but she didn’t want to show it to him until it was complete. However as she slid the notebook back the girl would hear his comment about her being a natural at it. "No one’s a natural at anything, I had to work for my skill, to say so is an insult to the skill of the artist.” she’d say somewhat somberly.

Jun had once used to believe in natural talent that someone could be gifted in something and it was all they ever needed but that kind of thinking only ever led her to failure and as such refused to believe in it. Her tone may have sounded as if she were somewhat hurt but in truth she was merely stating a point but she’d be lying if she said that she didn’t like being called gifted, to her relying on talent was an excuse to be complacent.

There was a slight silence between the two for a moment. The train slowly coming to a stop, "We’ve reached the Yukigakure station! Everyone prepare to depart.” with that Jun would nudge their chaperone who awaken from his drool ridden slumber with a gasp. "Oh…Jun…” he’d say. "We’re here sir.” she’d say as she stood up. "Come along Jou-san.” her voice still retaining some flatness too it here’s hoping she hadn’t scared the boy too much.
