A magnitude seven earthquake has ripped through the northern shore of Kaminari no Kuni, completely devastating a town called Kikai nestled in the foothills of the northern edge of the Blue Mountains and causing environmental instability in the immediate region. There has been a three-hour delay since receiving news of the natural disaster in which the Raikage was awaiting orders from the Daimyo to dispatch shinobi aid; but no orders have come. In spite of this, the Raikage has ordered the immediate deployment of a large team of shinobi to go evacuate the civilians, administer medical aid, and salvage what they can from the wreckage.
Kikai is a small village nestled into the foothills of the Blue Mountains; at the last census, it had a population of only about 500. It is relatively self-sufficient with a strong, supportive community of farmers, ranchers, miners, and artisans; not much trade or traffic comes in or out of the town, but it pays its taxes and gets by fairly well. It is by no means a wealthy village, however, and doesn't contribute much to the overall economy or trade of the nation. When shinobi arrive on scene, there is a glaring lack of dispatched aid from the Daimyo's court. objective & notes The objective is to rescue as many civilians as possible from the devastation caused by the earthquake. The town has a population of 500: the shinobi's work, if possible, is to account for as many civilians as possible, rescue who they can, and attempt to stabilize or destroy structures in order to prevent further damage.
Player actions will determine the success of the event. For each rotation that passes, dice will be rolled to determine a Random Event that will happen in the vicinity of at least one of the participants; this might be a collapsing building, a nearby landslide, a stampede of panicking animals, or something else along those lines. The event will end when at least 80% of the population of the town is accounted for, either dead or alive. I will be keeping track of encountered civilians in each rotation.
There is a small chance of an extremely unlucky dice roll, in which case: look to the mountain peaks. Earthquakes often have chain reactions, and Kaminari no Kuni's mountains are large.
Completion of this event will unlock a mission board to rebuild the region and investigate the Daimyo's inaction. |
