biannual chuunin exams "home is behind, the world ahead" ESTABLISHED TIME RANGE: 3 months POSTING TIME: 3 days. No strict posting order, just post within the deadline! VILLAGES PARTICIPATING: International. All villages welcome! RANK: C RULES:- All skills, weapons, and jutsu are allowed. - Posting window will be strictly enforced. If a participant misses a rotation, they will be skipped. Whatever happened in the last post, if relevant to the skipped character, will happen to the character. - Extensions will not be given. If a participant misses a rotation, they will receive one strike. Participants who receive three strikes will be disqualified from the exams. - This event is death enabled. Accidents happen, but use of lethal force is strongly discouraged, and proctors will intervene if a participant's life is at risk. - Participants must have Water-Walking and Tree-Climbing, and have completed at least 1 C-rank mission. - Participants will be barred from purchasing jutsu or appealing for SAs or equipment changes once the exams begin. We ask that all participants refrain from participating in post-exams missions or threads until the exams are formally concluded; anything prior to the start of the exams is fair game. - The exams will take place on the second to last day of the festival, so training and social threads are available to RP in Akazaya so long as they canonically take place before the start of the exams. All villages have been invited to gather in the bustling merchant town of Akazaya for the Winter 1023 Chuunin Exams, hosted by Kumogakure! The exams is taking place alongside Kanashimi-Matsuri, the debut of Kaminari no Kuni's Grieving Festival, a celebration and national mourning of those tens of thousands lost during the Great Plague. Both in memory of those who have passed and in celebration of those who have lives still to live, the festival is an invitation for all of the world's shinobi villages to send their best and brightest genin to participate in the exams in order to show off their stuff!
The festival will take place over the course of one week, while the exams themselves will be a two-day, all-day extravaganza intended to test the mettle of the world's youth. Food stalls, gambling halls, festival games, hot springs, theater performances, and more will be available for visiting shinobi to enjoy. To conclude the festival, the Land of Lightning invites Kanashimi-Matsuri's attendees to observe a memorial ceremony, in which those citizens of Lightning who have lost loved ones to the Plague will release candle boats onto the river in love and remembrance.
Team leaders, instructors, and chaperones of a chuunin+ rank are welcome and invited to attend the festivities. Akazaya will be a neutral zone foor the duration of the festival, heavily monitored by Kumogakure sensor shinobi in order to ensure a smooth, peaceful event. Fighting will be strictly prohibited outside of sanctioned events.
The exams will be available to spectate both live and in various pubs and bars in Akazaya; the country has spared no expense in ensuring that the exams are broadcasted for all to enjoy. objective & notes The exams will take place over the course of a single day, with very little in-character downtime between each round. Chakra and stamina exhaustion will be a real threat over the course of the day. It is split up into the traditional three-round structure. All registrants will be able to participate in all three exams unless they bow out or are disqualified from a lack of participation. It's not how far you make it in the exams, but how well you show your stuff!
Round One: IT'S A SECRET
Participants will be graded on their teamwork, creativity, and leadership.
The round will have a maximum limit of six rotations. Participants will have three days to post per rotation.

[PC proctors must be able to post on a strict 3-day deadline, submit event posts to myself for approval before posting, and must use non-lethal force. Skills must be managed in order to provide a team of genin an appropriate but not overwhelming challenge. Bias against or for allied or enemy villages will be highly scrutinized. Round Two: IT'S A SECRET
Participants will be graded on their mission capabilities, ability to defend or capture an objective, and speed of completion.
The round will have a maximum limit of six rotations. Participants will have three days to post per rotation.
Round Three: BATTLE FOR GENIN SUPREMACY
The third round will take place in a gorgeous pop-up replica of the Yanki clan's pride and joy: the Thunderdome! The Thunderdome will be host to the most eagerly anticipated event of any chuunin exams: the fighting round! Those who do well in the first two rounds will be in for a surprise!
Accidents happen, but participants are strongly encouraged to embody the spirit of sportsmanship, and refrain from using lethal force. If lives are endangered at any point in the third round, proctors will intervene and ensure that medical attention is provided. The point is to show off, develop your skills, and have fun--each and every genin participating has a long, successful career ahead of them!
There will be two rounds of fights: a 1v1 round, and a 2v2 round.
Each round will have a maximum limit of ten rotations. Participants will have three days to post per rotation.

Participants will be graded on their combat capabilities, creativity, and sportsmanship.
Grading
Grading will be done on a holistic round-by-round basis. A participant is capable of earning a maximum of 50 points. Each round accounts for 15 points total, with an additional 2 points available for efficient chakra management at the end of the exam, and 1 additional point afforded for each PvP round you win. Passing requires a minimum score of 35 points. Exam proctors will be looking for aptitude in a number of different skills throughout the exams; combat proficiency is not the sum and summary of what villages are looking for in a chuunin, and participants are encouraged to think about what their village needs of them, and what skills they need to sharpen in order to earn a passing grade.
Chakra Reserves
The exams are taking place over the course of two days, with only a brief rest in between rounds. Chakra management and energy conservation will be key elements of this exam. There will be a single night's rest provided between rounds two and three. Participants will be entering round three with at least half their chakra reserves, but many will still have their reserves depleted from the prior rounds.
Participants who pass out due to chakra exhaustion will have medical assistance provided to them and be removed from the remainder of the exam. participants OOC Notes: Participants who register will be aware of the two-day structure and the importance of chakra conservation ahead of time. The general grading rubric of the first two rounds is known to all participants, but the actual details are kept secret. Everyone will be aware that the final round is a combat round. Those who elect to participate as proctors in the first round of the exams will be given advance knowledge of the structure of the exams--please do your best to keep this a secret! I'd like to try to maintain an air of mystery~
09/24/23 Update: Sign-ups are now formally filled! If you're interested in participating, please do still sign up; if any of the currently registered participants fail to meet the requirements by the time the exams start, they will be automatically disqualified and their position will be filled from the waitlist on a first-come first-serve basis. Please do help each other to achieve your goals and meet the requirements before the exams start!
10/19/23 Update: Sign-ups have been expanded by eight slots to accommodate the waitlist and open up a couple of extra slots. If slots fill up again, the waitlist will once again be utilized, but I will not be expanding slots beyond 24--I'm only human!
