Early Morning Regrets

The Inn in Tea Country was a tiny shabby thing, but cleaner then most places Azarea had spent the night and more importantly had temporarily housed the much needed medic the two exhausted Shinobi had badly needed after their last mission. With both Shigure and Azarea coming to the agreement that rather then attempt the journey back to Hi no Kuni in their tired state it was better to just stay the night. The pair booking a room with two beds and both barely having the energy to wash before they'd each face planted into the mattress. Now though the red head found herself regretting their stay as she awoke to an insistent and constant tapping at the window as she recognized the sound of a messenger hawk. Leveraging herself up out of her bed groaning at how sore she felt the ex-Aburame dragged her feet across the floor to throw open the window. Squinting at the irate bird as she retrieved the scroll, but didn't dare break the seal.

"Oi! Shigure." She called out sighing when she got no answer as she wandered over and nudging the mattress with her knee to jostle him. Smart enough to know better then to touch a sleeping Hyuuga lest she wanted a demonstration in sealed tenketsu. "There's a scroll here for you."

"privateer meeting". "No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living." NEW MISSION Shigure was still quite tired. Their previous mission had taken a lot of his stamina, and pushed him to the edge, forcing him to rely on a lot of his arsenal of techniques in order to successfully complete it. The medical treatment was enough to patch them up, but he could use a feel days to get back to top condition. While sleeping, he was surprised by the nudging on the mattress, and the sound of Azarea's voice. "Uhn?!" jumping off the bed in nothing but his pants, he looked at the girl and scratched his eyes. "Sorry, I was so out..." he apologized as he grabbed the scroll from her and opened it, reading its contents. After the destruction of the pirate port a couple days ago, rumors that other pirate crews joining together were spreading and were intercepted by the Hidden Leaf's intelligence division. Shigure sighed deeply and continued reading the report, which revealed that captains of different crews would be meeting up to discuss a powerful alliance. This was an infiltration and assassination mission, and they were ordered to get started as soon as possible, as the meeting was supposed to take place in an island nearby in three days. "I see, well, read this." he said, as he passed the scroll over to the girl. "I will be needing your help, we don't have much time. For this next day, let's do our best to rest and restore our energy, and tomorrow morning we depart. I will see if the village has any extra information on any of these captains, and when I hear back from them, we will sit to discuss the strategy." he said, as he sit by a desk to write back to the Hidden Leaf, and send the message back with the same bird. Taking the scroll with a tired groan Azarea allowed herself to flop backwards onto Shigure's abandoned bed uncaring that she was in nothing, but sleep shorts and a slightly ratty old shirt as she held the mission up, read it once, read it twice, then let the scroll just drop onto her face as she sighed. "Right. Ok. We've got this." She muttered and though every fiber of her being screamed that the best course of action was to lay the heck back down and go back to sleep the early bird caught the worm.

"I think we should gather what information we can get and head out today. If they're meeting on a nearby island it's likely that one north of Jirou. Which means they will probably stop at Jirou island to resupply given negotiations could take some time. If we could jump one of the Captains while they were stopped over at the port we could interrogate and replace them for the meeting. Giving us an 'in' and a way to maybe diplomatically sabotage any alliance they would come to." Azarea suggests eventually rolling to the side as the scroll dropped off her face and fell to the bed. The red head looking surprisingly grumpy at the prospect even if it was her idea.

"But to get there in time that means catch a boat today. So we'll have to trade off sleeping in-route."

"privateer meeting". "No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living." PLAN OF ACTION "We need to depart soon, but you are also recovering from your injury. I don't want to jeopardize the mission with us not fully recovered, but time is of essence. Let's see what the village will have to say. We can get ready to depart maybe tonite at the earliest. If we can know at least one of our targets, it will be easier to impersonate them." he said, frowning his brows and thinking for a moment. "Tonight is a good compromise. Now focus on resting as much as you can, and I will try to do the same." he said, falling back into bed while they waited to hear more from the Hidden Leaf. The bird would return about six hours later, with information on one of the captains. The name of the man was Kurogami, and he was sailing from the south. They also confirmed that the likely place of the meeting was Jirou Island. Observing the map they had, Shigure identified a potential route where Kurogami's vessel could be coming from and showed it to Azarea. With how grateful the locals were for their service, they also offered a small boat they could take. What it lacked in size, however, it compensated with its speed, which would allow them to likely intercept their first target within the later hours of the night. "Alright, let's get ready. How are you feeling? One of the locals will be taking care of sailing the ship for us, so we will be able to rest until it's time to act. This is as good as it's gonna get." he admitted with a light shrug. "So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. Bad Dreams

Thinking it over Azarea nodded eventually vacating Shigure's bed to reclaim her own as she tugged the covers back up to her chin and curled up into a ball, "All right. Wake me when it gets close to time." She mumbles allowing herself to drift back off to sleep. Her shoulder might have been treated, but the spot was still tender and raw and her stitches itched. Exhaustion combined with little irritations could cause unfortunate slip-ups. Something neither of them wanted when stealth would be key to them surviving and succeeding in this mission.

Sadly Azarea found no more solstice in sleep then she did in waking. Her dreams troubled as she awoke with the memory of scarlet eyes and the taste of poison on her tongue. The woman drawing her canteen as she took a slow sip of the water her throat tight and complexion ashen as she listened to Shigure's report. Nodding once before she quickly dressed and packed preparing to head out. "Thank god neither of us are prone to sea sickness. Do you want to impersonate the Captain or shall I?" Azarea inquired with a tilt of her head as the pair of them made their way down to the dock and loaded up on the small vessel to head towards their destination.

He had to nod in agreement to the statement that it was fortunate they were not prone to sea sickness. "That would make things more complicated for sure." he admitted, and when poised with the question of whether he would prefer to impersonate the Captain or leave it to her, he pondered for a moment, and then ultimately made the decision that she would be better fit for the job. "I have to admit I am more of fighter than a spy. You are also better with genjutsu than I am, so I feel you will do a better job as the captain. I will disguise myself as their bodyguard during the meeting, as it will likely require less of my interpretation skill. Let's play to our strengths." he said, confident she would do a marvelous job as Kurogami. With the two ready to depart, they would meet up with the man who would be sailing their ship and once they were inside, they would set sail towards the southeast. They still had a few hours before they would be close enough to their target vessel, so Shigure found a corner of their small boat to lay down and get some extra rest, even though he would remain awake, and scan the area with his Byakugan every now and then; they could never be too cautious in this world. Azarea shrugged, then grimaced as she realized such motions were a bad idea, then covered it up with a smile. "I've got a bit of practice impersonating others for long periods of time." She has to admit and while no Yamanaka she'd gotten the hang of stepping into the role of another person's life. "One of my genin teammates when I was younger was a infiltration specialist and you learn a thing or two when you're stuck together for so long." She admits as the pair settle into the boat. Azarea only half dozing. The woman a bit too alert to truly relax when their target would soon be at hand.

"Hey... Shigure? What would you do if you found out your Father wasn't your Father?" Azarea questioned, the inquiry sounding innocent enough at first as she watched the stars above them slowly shift across the sky. The world around them quiet save for the wind and the lapping of the waves.

"What if... what if your Father was someone who'd hurt you in the past? An old boogieman or enemy." She murmurs stifling a yawn with one hand as she shook her head her thoughts loud in the quiet as her hive hummed low in comfort beneath her skin attempting to ease her worries.

But infiltration is something I only started doing after I became a Chuunin." he admitted. Knowing your flaws and weaknesses was important as it gave clarity of your limitations, and forced you to be humble enough to rely on others who could compliment your skills where you are lacking. While they rested and waited, they had plenty of time to engage in some conversation, but he would be lying if he wasn't surprised by the question she asked. "That's quite the question... Hmmm, let me think..." scratching his chin, he pondered about the topic for a moment or two and then looked back at the red-haired. "I guess I would feel some relief? My dad is not someone I really admire." he admitted with a light shrug. Then, she made the question more complex, deeper even. It felt somewhat personal, if he was being honest. "Wow... Did something happen while you were in the Leaf? This question sounds almost as if you are asking yourself... Being honest? I don't know how I would feel. I'm not very much prone to vengeance... I think vengeance causes us more harm than relief. It's like trying to quench your thirst with sea water... But I would definitely try to understand the context, as to why he acted that way. More Questions Than Answers

Her lips twitch into a smile at his answer, "I guess it is a relief in a way. I never really looked up to Hiroshi much either." Azarea admits with a sigh as the woman rakes a hand through her hair uncertain how much or how little to tell as their tiny boat eats up the miles at sea between them and their target.

"I... well I found out the ANBU who interrogated and tortured me is my biological Father. I'm not really sure how to feel. He said we're family whether either of us likes it or not, but it just feels like pity I suppose." She murmurs leaning her head back against the railing as she stares up at the stars. "I've been trying to learn more about him, but I don't have easy access to information within the village. I'm not sure whether he knew about me and ignored my existence or just turned a blind eye... I haven't really been able to suss out his reasoning." Azarea admits much to her embarrassment. Truthfully she'd been too worried to try to infiltrate the village beyond what she could manage without arousing suspicion and risking being accused of looking for secrets rather then trying to spy on one stubborn old fool of a man.

"Maybe he just never wanted a family? It would make sense. From what I heard he's practically married to his career so maybe I was just an unfortunate accident and he's never really been equipped to raise a kid or care. So why start now that I'm already grown and out of his hair enough that all he needs me for is to keep me on the clan books whether I like it or not for potential political leverage." She muses grimacing at the thought before perking up and squinting. In the distance she thinks perhaps there may be the barest dot of a boat on the horizon.

FAMILIARITY Hiroshi was far from an admirable man, quite similar to Urashi in many ways, so he could understand why she would feel relieves. However, the revelation that her actual father was the ANBU member who interrogated her was quite the shocking revelation. "No way... That is... That is tough." he admitted, sighing and shaking his head; he could only imagine how that must have felt. Moreover, her other concerns were quite valid as well. "I don't really know what to say..." he admitted, thus deciding to let her vent. As she continued to speak about the man, he sounded a bit familiar. He was never married, he had the power to add her to the clan books without much issue, from the way she phrased it and that he was basically married to his career. "Azarea, would you mind if I asked who is your father?... The way you described it, it sounded familiar, but I can't just quite figure out... Maybe if I know who it is I can offer some more insight. I know a lot of people in the village." he explained. As heir to the Hyuuga clan, village's politicis were part of his life. However, they were still on a mission, and once he activated his Byakugan, he finally found a boat in the distance. Zooming in, he managed to confirm that the individual there was indeed Kurogami, as his jolly roger and description fit the intel provided. "That is our target. For a moment Azarea hesitated, but she and Shigure had come this far together. Trust had been built and earned and more importantly it didn't benefit him to betray her. Not now. Not in regards to this. "Toshizou. His name is Hatake Toshizou." She admits voice quiet and a little strained as she dug through her pack readying the gear they would need.

"Shigure do you have a rebreather? We're probably going to want to water walk out there and then swim the rest of the way to remain undetected and ensure our friend here doesn't get caught up with the Pirates." Azarea suggested nodding towards the sailor who'd taken them this far.

"We can probably climb up the back of the ship and infiltrate the Captain's quarters and if we're lucky take our target out in their sleep before they're ever the wiser. Then you can either drag them back here to interrogate them while I impersonate them if the crew comes looking or we can set them down and make them write out everything they know under pain of an agonizing death." She muses digging out her secondary airtank and offering it to him.

"If you don't have a rebreather this should do you till we get on the boat." She suggests before turning to the sailor, "Think you can circle around behind them at a distance?" It'd be easy enough to drop Shigure and the Captain behind them if there was need for more vocal interrogations.

TO THE CAPTAIN'S CABIN The revelation of the name was something that shocked Shigure, and his expression did very little to hide that fact. The wide eyes and arched brows, as well as the mouth that had opened but words failed to come out. This was a little too much right now, so he shook his head and decided it would be best to discuss this matter once they had completed their mission. "We... We will talk about Toshizou-san later. I happen to know him to a good degree... My mom was his teammate when they were Genins, and they remain good friends." he quickly explain as to not leave her completely in the dark. Shaking his head as for her next question, he didn't seem much concerned about the equipment in question. "I don't, but we can water walk from here and keep to the shadows, and even when we start swimming, I can hold my breathe long enough, it will be fine. I've done this type of ship approach before." he said, remembering the mission he took at the coast of the Land of Fire a while back, when he was still a Chuunin. Her plan was very well align with his own ideas, further evidence that their teamwork was quite good. "Feels like you've read my mind. I can do that. Let's meet just outside of his cabin." he said, before grabbing the secondary air tank, just in case, and jumping atop of the water. The Hyuuga would quickly circle around, keeping his distance so he could reach the area behind the rudder. As he approached the ship, he would use the air tank and start swimming, keeping himself out of sight from them. With the Byakugan, he could easily keep tabs on the location of the members of the crew, so sneaking around was no issue. Once he got to the ship, he used the Tree Climbing Technique to walk up the ship and approach the window of the Captain's Cabin, where he waited for Azarea. "So what if it seems hopeless? Windows Are Doors To Shinobi

The red head couldn't quite hide her grimace at Shigure's shock. An uncommon sense of dread welling up within the pit of her stomach at the look in her teammate's eyes even as he quickly worked to regain his composure. Azarea glancing politely to the side as she pretended to not have seen such a display. "Later then." She agrees as she tugged on her rebreather and hopped out onto the water. Keeping low and to the shadows of the waves as best she could to avoid the lookouts. Eventually diving under and swimming the last of the way as she latched onto the rudder with her chakra and slowly scaled up the back of the boat. Dispersing her Kikaichu to begin infiltrating and covering the ship as she did so.

Ever ship needs a few good rats after all, but today they'd have to make due with beetles. Her bugs would likewise serve as an early warning system for her should Shigure take the Captain back to the other boat to interrogate. The ex-Aburame reaching out to place a hand on her teammate's shoulder as she put a few Kikaichu on him.

"I'll get the window open for you. Grab the Captain. If you pull him back to interrogate on the other boat I'll be able to learn whatever you learn through my bugs." She promises Shigure in a whisper as she tugs a few senbon from her pouch and begins to quietly leverage them into the soft wood around the edge of the thick bottle glass panes. Trusting Shigure knew the Captain was in his quarters and knowing he'd warn her if the man became aware of her work. Eventually loosening one of the panes enough she could carefully slide it out. Giving just enough room Shigure should be able to wiggle through without issue even with his broader shoulders. Though thankfully the Gentle Fist didn't really need to touch it's opponent to do damage.

What makes this so difficult is a very precise amount of chakra ust be applied, as balance is harder to maintain on a not so tangible and even moving surface.

INFILTRATION AND CAPTURE As then rendezvous just outside of the Captain's Cabin, Azarea whispered, saying she would get the window and he would get the Captain and he nodded, so he now waited for the woman to act. Grabbing two shurikens and his ninja wire, he tied two of them together, while also keeping strings with him so he could use the Shuriken Manipulation Technique to his advantage. As the window was opened, he quickly sneaked into the place. The captain was sitting down, drinking some rum and Shigure quickly threw his shuriken, which he manipulated so to wrap itself around his neck and choke him, the moment he had just rested his cup on the table. The man started to choke, not making much noise, and using the fact he was incapacitated, he used a tenketsu strike near his jugular vein, making him fall unconscious. Untying the shuriken from his neck, so he wouldn't suffocate to death, Shigure lifted the body and headed back to the window, glancing over to Azarea and pausing there for long enough so that she could take a good look at the man, for her transformation, and then he would leap back into the water, quickly using his speed to walk back to their vessel, where he would be able to properly interrogate the man and extract information. "So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep." B-Rank Mission [14/20] Uses Shuriken Manipulation Technique to choke the man, then knocks him unconscious with the Gentle Fist. Goes back to their vessel, so he can start interrogating the man. Impersonation

Slinking through the window after him Azarea carefully set the window pane to rest on the bed before grabbing the cup and bottle the man had been drinking from and pouring the cup out the window and all of the bottle save the last dregs of it into the ocean. A waste of alcohol, but she'd need it for her charade. Staring at the man in question long and hard she nodded believing she could do an accurate impersonation of him though she'd have to play at being asleep till she got a good feel for his voice from the interrogation. Azarea giving Shigure a silent thumbs up as she flicked through the seals for the henge transforming into their target with nary a poof of smoke. Once Shigure was back out the window she carefully replaced the loose pane of glass.

Then taking the near empty bottle of alcohol she drenched herself with the last of the dregs so she smelled as though she'd had a night of heavier then normal drinking, settled down at the desk, end rest her head upon the wood as though a man who'd passed out with the bottle. Said empty bottle discarded onto the floor as if knocked there to act as a good excuse should any sailor come peeking to see what the small scuffling sound was. As the woman now turned man pretended to sleep. Attuning her senses to her Kikiachu as she awaited Shigure's interrogation.

Shinobi are limited to transforming into objects roughly their own size, preventing them from turning into a fly while being able to carry items far greater than their transformed state.

Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria [Queen's Coronation Regalia]
A mutated variant of the Aburame clans Yūdai no Omorejō ["Bewildering Grandeur of the Alpha"] resulting from the subsequent poisoning of Azarea's former Yūdai no Omorejō hive to prevent potential hijutsu theft. While the Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria lacks the Yūdai no Omorejō size instead Azarea's hive has maintained the ability to produce alpha pheromones and commanding vibrations. Evolving instead to hyperspecialize in these two aspects allowing them to produce pheramones and vibrations strong enough to be detected by human hearing and sense of smell.
