This is an observer thread for the bouts of the Chuunin Exams, Round 2 Part 2. This thread is for Bout #1.

The fights occur in the following order:

This time, Miroru didn't have her big sister to help her analyze the fight below. This time, her big sister WAS the fight below. Miroru didn't want to be worried, but... she'd seen how worn out Azarea was before the fight even began. How was this going to fare, really?

As most of the fights had, this one started with a request for someone's surrender, and the refusal. She could understand. A warrior's pride wouldn't let them surrender without at least trying their skills. Nobody that had fought to get this far was going to bow out before the fight began.

In an instant, though, she'd trapped all of them in a Genjutsu, and rushed forwards to add a threat to the trap, one that her opponent just snarked at. Did- he not grasp the situation? Was he really trying to guilt Azarea out of completing the fight? When all he had to do was bow out?! Miroru had been in a similar situation before, and she would have absolutely snapped her trap shut and electrocuted the nice doctor if she'd had to.

Azarea had far more killing instinct than Miroru did on her own. That was a bad bet to make, if you asked her, and it left Miroru frowning worriedly.

She didn't want to see anyone die- but she'd understand if it was the only avenue they left open to Azarea.

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

[Uzumaki Atagi]

Be in harmony with the opposition

Atagi remains parked close to the auburn-haired Uchiha as the fights continue, even if they couldn't exactly be called friends, they seemed to be getting along alright enough. This time around, it was Azarea versus one Suzaku Kyuumu. The same kind of Kyuumu as the...what was his name? Takame, from the first fight. That seemed fairly likely. Just like with (nearly) all the other bouts, one of the two contestants finds themselves the object of his raucous rallying.

”Wahoo! You got this, Azarea-chan!”

There's a plea for surrender made, and he wrinkles at his nose in distaste-- even if it was made by her, it should've been obvious that nobody who had gotten this far would give up so easily. The question was how the exhausted fellow redhead would subjugate the boy and his birds.

”Ah, it's come to another battle of speech, it seems. Kinda like you n' the good doctor, yeah?” Nudging at Miroru's shoulder, even without looking away from what's going on. ”I've seen Azarea scary--” Flashbacks to splintered table legs and angry eyes. ”--but not in this sense, where it's a terrifying, no-nonsense efficiency. Would she really kill someone and his small animals without a second thought, given no other choice?”

It's an open question, one that he ponders internally. Atagi had decided, long ago when he was just at the academy, that 'the hero', and therefore him, doesn't kill-- a simple rule to live by, if extremely limiting. But such was his personality that he'd likely rather be injured himself than kill another, if that's what it came down to.

The question isn't answered, ultimately, because Azarea finds a way to knock Suzaku unconscious, defusing the tense situation and making it look easy, at that.
