There was a wooded area nearby the Red Keep, though it was quite scant as the keep itself was near the sea making it a very vulnerable place to try and invade by anybody's standards. But all the higher ranking shinobi were stationed in this forest, with the job to keep silent and as still as possible until the genin would arrive with their orders of what their next steps would be.

It was generally known that they would be invading, but the details were not yet shared with the group.

There were three teams of chunin and special jounin, stationed a little further ahead of their superior officers - the jounin and elite jounin - with the intention of being the eyes for the higher ranking teams in case they needed to act while the genin had not yet arrived. Though acting would most certainly also spell doom for the genin who were rushing to their destination.

Unsurprisingly there were enemy patrols to keep track of with any sense available to the shinobi, though they walked in a very particular pattern so if timed correctly they would never have to come across them. But it still took a great deal of care...

Some shinobi might find themselves perched up in trees, others blending with the environment with all the training they had received. It would just depend, and they would certainly have to since there was also a few watch tower lookouts but a particularly apt one at the top of the Red Keep.

Ultimately though, right now would be a good time to prepare for battle for the waiting shinobi teams, and any that needed to do something to prepare should do it now lest they be caught in the midst of battle without the necessary tools ready for battle.

So this was the day that the forces of Kirigakure would attack the Red Keep the fortress that is said to be one of the most fortified places in the land of water and full of probably powerful rogue shinobi, something about it felt uneasy so the forces of Kirigakure would need to play it safe and follow the orders given to the letter when they arrived. For now, Zaizen and his team had to keep quiet and wait for the orders to arrive from the genin teams. There were untold dangers all around them as Zaizen could feel the presence of many chakra signatures out in front of him as he waited in a tall tree crouched on a sturdy branch. The most important step for Zaizen, Sora and Ichigoni was to keep quiet and remain out of sight of the enemy forces.

Zaizen wasn't particularly worried about himself as he knew how to be silent and quiet. The rest of his team mates he was so sure about, whatever they do they needed to follow suit or the task of getting the order will be harder for the genin teams. The last thing Zaizen wanted to do was rescue the genin, but if the need arose for it he would move into position, but for now, the orders were clear and they had to wait to see what happens next. Zaizen simply made sure to channel small amounts of chakra into his sword to use later if required, but for now, remained crouched in the tall tree, hidden from view. As for Sora and Ichigoni he let them do as they wished while Zaizen remained silent, but this was nothing new for him.

[Sora Minami]

Sora sat in a tree, perched against the trunk, a cloak of brown wool wrapped around her frame, eyes closed, breathing. She wasn’t asleep, despite what it might seem to anyone who had to wherewithal to climb high enough to spot her, let alone see what she was doing; rather, she was in a state of meditative rest, her body relaxed but her mind and senses alert, focused on her surroundings. It wasn’t quite a jutsu, or even a technique, but rather a state of mind she had learned to enter into on missions where one had to sit for long periods of time, only to explode into action when everything fell into place. Such was the case now, though few people would know it.

The orders had been given, the call sent out to every able-bodied Shinobi and Kunoichi; the Red Keep was to fall, one the last bastions of the old order toppling in favor of the new. Which was why she had come here, settled in the sparse trees of the forested area outside the keep, waiting. Orders, delivered by the hands of Genin, were supposed to be on the way- until they arrived, there was nothing to do but sit, wait, and prepare. Not that she had anything to prepare, of course. Samidare was with her, and that was all she needed.

Ichigoni had chosen a tree of his own, leaning his back against the base of a thick trunk while balancing on a branch halfway up, with his headband pulled above his head over his hair. He’d chosen to make use of the time, first and foremost performing a long string of hand seals which might have looked strange to the others as no apparent jutsu sprang to life. At the end he brought his hand to his forehead and pressed onto it a diamond shaped seal: Suiryuudan no Jutsu sealed in suspension for a later release. Afterwards he pulled the headband back down over his blind eye.

As he continued to wait for a call to action, he began producing trigram blades in his hand and slipping them into his jacket. They were square shaped projectiles with raised grooves on them that formed Uzumaki sealing formulas. Altogether he prepared six projectiles containing Kinbaku, and six containing Kyūshū Fūinjutsu.

There wasn’t much left for him to do. His single eye fell on Sora across the way, and then sought the swordsman of the mist. He was definitely the junior among them, and he could feel the full effects of imposter syndrome setting in.

The user performs the necessary hand seals for this technique, then after they perform the hand seals and chakra molding for one more technique. The user effectively seals away the 2nd technique used along with the chakra necessary to cast it into a seal they place upon their forehead reading "capsule". This allows the user to prepare a specific technique to be activated upon a single hand seal any time into the future, even when they have almost no chakra saved up later on. Once the seal is released, the technique is used immediately afterward and the seal on the forehead vanishes. Only one instance of this seal can be active at a time. Limited to B-Rank jutsu and below. Only the initial cost is covered, channeling must still be paid for at activation if desired.

Description:

Where as Suikouden is a slightly faster attack, Suiryuudan deals more damage against the target and has a farther range, but also requires more handseals to be performed.

Using the Uzumaki clan's ability to physically manifest aspect of seals, the user will manipulate the formula for similarly ranked seals into the shape of square trigram kanji, each manifested and launched into the physical world. These square-shaped objects are as hard and sharp as shuriken, and fly through the air just as expertly. At the user's will, these transformed formulas can then revert back to their normal state, now placed on whatever they are in contact with. Damaging these manifested seals is equal to releasing them, unloading what they contain wherever they may be. Even while weaponized, the Uzumaki can still call upon the what resides within his seals.

After three hand-seals, the user will slap both hands on the ground and summon an intricate spherical seal on the ground, ten meters in diameter, with the user at the epicenter. Anyone or anything standing on the ground within ten meters is then sealed to the ground itself, locking their feet in place. They will be stuck in place until the seal is broken, which can be achieved by destroying the ground it is summoned on. People who were not inside the range can move over the surface of the seal once it's been summoned without any issue.

Drawn with the Kanji for attraction [吸収] on a person, object, or sealing tag, this seal must be placed on two or more objects to be used. Once two of the seals are placed, the owner activates the seal. After this the two seals will pull together, with the heavier object marked, attracting lighter objects. Those marked by the seal will find themselves dragged along against their will until the seal touches the other seal, where the two seals will bond together. The maximum this Fūinjutsu can move drag however is a fully grown man (unburdened by ridiculously heavy weights), with anything heavier only being able to attract lighter objects. Only those with strength similar to, or greater than, a primary Taijutsu Chuunin would be capable of pulling free from this seal by sheer force. Those incapable of this strength would need to find other methods of breaking free.

Not too long into their wait for the scrolls arrival, a singular genin arrived on the scene. Hisao, who had been paired with Enyo. He would give up the scroll to the team of jounin communicating very little before disappearing.

For Sora it might have been a disappointment to not see her student - or perhaps a slight blessing - but the scroll was in hand which meant that one of two scrolls had arrived safely. The jounin had only to open the scroll.

Of course, the orders were in the scroll so they could open to read the message which would say something rather concise and straightforward:

You have been entrusted with the take over of the Red Keep, do not fail. Our information says that there is one who is heavily guarded that must be taken on by our highest ranking shinobi. Do not waste your energy needlessly on the peons below, give the command to the chunin and sp. jounin forces to advance.

The Red Keep must remain in tact as it will be used as an important base moving forward. Do your best to not cause utter destruction on the inside and to the structural integrity of the building.

Please hoist the flag sealed inside of this scroll as a signal that the keep belongs now to our nation and our forces.

Below the message there is a seal to be broken that once broken would release a large piece of fabric. The jounin could choose to break it now or later at the top of the Keep.

Furthermore, the jounin were now tasked with quietly commanding the lesser ranked fighters closer to the Keep with mounting an attack. But they had to do so stealthily as they were too far from the second unit of jounin to know whether the second team of genin had arrived or not...

Zaizen still remained in the tree tops keeping silent to avoid triggering the forces around the keep, but for the most part keeping silent was one of Zaizen's strengths, he continued to monitor the area with his chakra sensory, keeping tags on the chakra signatures around them in case any of them decided to get closer to the groups location. It seemed like time in this forest never ended as Zaizen waited in the tree tops while the others in his group waited in their own ways. Then a signature seemed to be coming closer to the group's position. " Looks like we have company, a chakra signature is approaching I believe it to be friendly. Zaizen said in a low tone to make sure not to shout and give away the group's position. With that he moved from his higher position in the trees moving from branch to branch till he got lower and lower and made footing on the ground. It would be around this time the chakra signature appeared from the clearing of the forest to reveal Hisao, who had a scroll in his hands for the group. Zaizen assumed the group would have no issues with Zaizen taking the scroll first from Hisao, he didn't want to throw around his rank or anything like that, but made sense since he was technically the lead jounin at least in terms of ranking, but Zaizen didn't mention that to the group as he figured it wouldn't be needed and would give the group the chance to read the scroll as well.

After taking the scroll the genin made their way to safety away from the front lines since their job had been completed. Zaizen would untie the scroll in his hands to give a read of the contents to himself. The contents of the scroll were pretty clear and they were instructions from the Mizukage on taking the keep for Kirigakure, with specific instructions of getting to the top floor of the keep and hoisting the flag contained in the scroll. Zaizen understood what needed to be done and didn't say anything at the moment as he moved closer to Sora and handed her the scroll for her to read as well, giving the group a chance to read the scroll before moving on with the plan.

When the sole Genin arrived, announced by Zaizen, Sora was neither surprised nor disappointed to not see Enyo; she knew the boy’s skill, knew where his talents lay, and held no qualms that he would make it through whatever obstacles had presented themselves before him. She had trained him to fight hard, and he would. And that was that. When Zaizen motioned for her and Ichigoni to come read the message, the Jounin at last stood, her eyes open, and made her way to the branch where her former Captain sat as stealthily as possible, listening intently for any signs of enemy shinobi.

Once there, Sora read the scroll offered to her, handing it off to Ichigoni as she looked at Zaizen, frowning slightly. The mission objectives, while clear, made this entire operation significantly more difficult- especially given they would have to advance through the sparse trees and inform the Chuunin and Special Jounin to begin the assault before making their way into one of the most heavily guarded places in Mizu no Kuni, all without doing too much damage to anything important. And Ichigoni doesn’t know the Hunter-nin hand signs… damn.

"Captain, Admiral, if I may." The Jounin began, whispering softly so as not to be heard by anyone other than them, "Our best bet would be to approach under mist. The area is too close to the sea for it to be suspicious, and the advanced parties will likely have a sensor nin who can inform their group of the presence of allied chakra." It was the simplest way to alert the other groups to begin the assault- they would still have to hand off their orders, of course, but that could be done easily enough once they got close.

Still, it wasn’t her show; Zaizen was the ranking officer here, and that meant it was up to him to determine how they should proceed.

"Though it is a natural occurrence, my experience with criminals around the shores of Kirigakure is that they often put up their guard in fear that we may be behind it,” Ichigoni said. "I also worry with a fortress that large with foes that powerful, they may have a sensor among their ranks and we may lose time practicing caution for not.”

The Uzumaki felt somewhat ill-suited for a quiet entry, but an alternative came to mind. He wasn’t sure of the capabilities of the others, however. "I am capable of using jutsu to hold my breath for a good deal of time, with the Hidden Mist Breathing technique. Sora if you can as well, perhaps Captain Zaizen can approach from the land using his renowned stealth skills and we the sea?”

There was some question on the back of his mind whether or not he should be giving input. He was so used to talking strategy in his normal position that he’d forgotten his place for a moment in this particular squad.

He took a step back. "I will get behind whatever you decide, Captain Zaizen. We can't afford the time for a perfect plan, so let's just pick a good one. I’d say that perhaps it would be wise to send a shadow clone or two to try to relay our plan, only relying on our sensors to pick us up if the clones are destroyed.”

The group deliberates, and in the case of Zaizen he would not notice another chakra signature yet approaching from further away. Though this might be a good way to keep track of whether the other team of jounin would receive their orders yet or not, as at this moment it seemed that this team was the only one and would need to communicate with their subordinates, or wait to communicate. Those were really the only two options, their plan could be enacted however they desired *after* the chunin and special jounin attacked, there were MORE of them after all... And that was by design, it was to overwhelm the forces below to allow for the higher ranks to save energy and to really mount an overwhelming attack.

At least, that had been the intention as was communicated in the scroll - though in far less words - and ultimately it was up to the jounin here to determine what their next move would be. But someone had to make a move to deliver the command to those sitting closer to the front lines waiting with baited breath... The danger of being discovered encroaching upon them with every passing minute as the other team of genin had yet to arrive with their message.

Zaizen allowed the rest of the team a little time to read the scroll that had been delivered to them, as his two other teammates had devised plans on how to best approach the tasks before them, each of them gave valid points on how to approach using the hidden mist to cover there approach and then Zaizen guide them with his sensory or have Sora and Ichigoni go by sea using the breathing technique. It was an interesting idea and Zaizen was highly suited going by land one his own as he could reach the chunin and special jounin forces quicker if he was on his own as he would have to keep pace with the rest of his team. Since Zaizen had been in charge, he made the final decision on what move they should make.

" I agree with Ichigoni's idea that you and Sora should try and go by sea using that breathing technique you mentioned and I can travel by land. For added measure, if I place my hands on each of you with my gloves I can imprint my chakra signature on you which makes tracking you using my sensory much easier. " After speaking Zaizen would move first towards Sora giving her shoulder a quick touch with his gloved hand leaving the imprint of his chakra on her, before doing the same by moving to Ichigoni and doing the same thing now he could sense them like it was him, knowing that it is actually Sora and Ichigoni feeling them with his sensory. " We need to get a move on we have already wasted time and this Keep won't capture itself." After speaking Zaizen made sure to take the scroll from Ichigoni as he had been the last one to look at it, Zaizen didn't want it to get wet after all. Once he had it in his hands he secured it in his pouch for safekeeping. As he headed out disappearing in the trees in front of him as he moved towards the other forces waiting for the signal to attack. As Zaizen moved through the forest at speed it didn't take the man long to reach the chuunin and special Jounin forces as he appeared from the trees. " Orders have been give we are to press on with the attack on the Red Keep at once by order of the Mizukage. We have to break through to the Red Keep at all costs and capture it for the glory of Kirigakure. The chuunin and special Jounin forces are to press on with the attack while the jounin forces break into the Keep and capture it. Zaizen had spoken and it was down to them now as he dash off once more.

"I do not think splitting our forces is the wisest course of action." Sora said, glancing at the Admiral as she spoke. The man had a keen mind, clearly, and under normal circumstances she would have bowed to Zaizen’s wishes and moved in by the sea- but this was not a normal attack, and speed was of the essence. She could admit her plan to approach under mist was a flawed one, but splitting off from the main body to loop around the back of the Keep would take what precious little time they had and squander it.

Sometimes, the pink-haired Jounin thought as she took the scroll back from Ichigoni, sliding it into one of her hip pouches as she sighed in seeming defeat. You just have to do what needs doing and ask for forgiveness later. Zaizen moved, running to inform the frontline forces to attack, and in that moment Sora looked at Ichigoni, her expression flat and serious, as far from the playful woman he had trained with as she could get.

"With all due respect, we don’t have time to loop around. I’m taking the scroll straight ahead." She moved then, giving her colleague little time to respond, leaping through the trees as quickly and quietly as she could, knowing it wouldn’t matter soon, as the attack was about to begin in earnest. I always did hate stealth missions…

Sora had made a decision to go against orders. Zaizen had gone to deliver word. Both moved quicker than he could hope to, and despite words to the contrary, they were now split three ways. The Uzumaki felt panic that he hadn’t since his days as a genin. Would he be punished if he also defied orders, or would they understand that if he did not follow her the operation could be at risk now. Being the descendant of an enemy clan, he worried that participating in insubordination would come back on him harder than anyone else.

"Damn it,” he uttered to himself. The Uzumaki immediately thought to himself that someone else should have been cast for this role in the battle other than himself. He envied whoever led the northern fleet, who would probably be patrolling the waters for any who might flee their fate in this battle. Without using the water, Ichigoni was ill-suited for stealth.

Zaizen could track them with his seal, so he’d be able to rendezvous with them regardless. If Ichigoni strayed too far from Sora, then he might not see her again until the aftermath.

In the end, Ichigoni decided to follow after Sora, though he was far behind with little hopes of catching up. Once he completely lost sight of her, the issue compounded as he slowed up further to look for signs of breakages in the foliage to follow. There probably wouldn’t be an issue if she didn’t immediately attack the keep, but if there was no delay he’d still have some catching up to do while she initiated the battle.

The group split in a way that Ichigoni had not thought would happen and now was faced with a decision, in the end, he chose Sora. Whether it was a good decision or not remained to be seen. But in this case, Sora was running towards the Keep through the trees until the trees very abruptly ended and it became a clearing. And by the time she landed out there the other shinobi were already on the move and had inevitably alerted the central patrol to their arrival. Sora - and Ichigoni, soon enough - would see firey flames erupt from that central area though they were a flash meant to attack and were not directed towards the two jounin - as luck would have it.

Sora did not have the foresight to consider that there were foes that could easily stand up to her as she charged towards the Keep. It was a pretty tall building, so it was up to her whether she decided to run up it or not - or try the main gates where two guards stood on guard from the alert they had received from the central patrol.

She could scale the building, or she could attempt to burst right through those double doors.

Either way, it was worth considering what she was about to face if she went alone and with no consideration for anything else.

Zaizen had just finished telling the chuunin and special jounin units to commence the attack on the Red Keep before Zaizen himself headed in the direction of the keep but headed through the trees as before, but using his sensory skills to his advantage, to maneuverer towards the keep while avoiding the patrols that he had picked up with his sensory. Zaizen maintained a good pace as he headed towards the keep. Zaizen as he moved he used his sensory once more to track the signatures of Sora and Ichigoni he could tell the signatures clear than others as he had marked them with his gloves which would imprint his own chakra signature on them which made tracking them precise, while he couldn't tell exactly which one was which since it didn't tell him who each signature belonged to. Though from him sensing he could see that the two signatures seemed to be a distance from one another which seemed strange and more it seemed the agreed direction the group should take didn't seem to add up either.

Zaizen could only guess at this point that Sora and Ichigoni had not followed Zaizen's order and could be risking the plan of attacking the keep by acting rashly and irresponsibly to their fellow Kirigakure shinobi as it could be putting further danger and risk on everyone involved. While it had been only Zaizen's guess at this point confronting them on the subject now in the middle of a battlefield was not well suited so would deal with it when it arose. Zaizen had options of his own to consider, chase after the two of them or go in his own stealthy direction towards the keep as he could use their distraction to his own advantage. Zaizen's choice in the matter was to keep to his own plan and use the noise of the other two Jounin. So using his sensory he closed down the keep from an eastern direction to the main gate away from Sora and Ichigoni using his sensory to avoid patrols of chakra signatures he sensed on his way to the keep, making directional changes as needed.

[Mitsudo Soujū]

A Kekkei Genkai that revolves around manipulating one's internal density, this enables him to become nigh indestructible containing enough mass that movement becomes impossible while bending metal easily. It also enables him to phase through matter with ease, possessing an outstanding control over this Kekkei Genkai to the point he can modify one finger to his own body, a part of a sword only. Zaizen is a master of his clans abilities having been using it since he can remember and has full control over it. He has to keep to the time limits which would be nighty seconds before having to wait as long to use his clans abilities once again, though using them once is often more than enough for the Sourei.

[God-Like Chakra Control Prowess]

It's difficult to describe his control over his chakra. It is as if the chakra itself is his very breath. He can manipulate it to such a degree that every technique is perfectly executed with zero wasted chakra yet potent enough that the maximum potential of that technique is always released.

[Prodigious Speed]

Zaizen is quick. His dashing movement mimics shunshin no jutsu, and while utilizing Shunshin no Jutsu, his speed reaches a level rarely seen, due to few being able to see it. It isn't an understatement to say he is one of, if not, the fastest Kirigakure shinobi of his generation. While most focus on training speed & strength to an certain degree, he excelled in training his speed and stamina. Capable of traveling long distances in little time without breaks. This movements translates to his maneuverability as well. The speed at which he punches, kicks, dodges, flips, and dashes are what his entire physical conditioning is about - reaching optimal speed in every aspect of combat. Both instinctual & conscience reflexes are beyond staggering. It is this coupled with his speed that he's reached his level of command. He reacts to stimuli almost instantaneously, this gives him ample time to give a reply. There isn't much that can dash out of his vision without him knowing, or strike him directly where he can't react. It is due to this and his Kekkei Genkai that his level of evasion is top class.

[Silent Killing Mastery]

Steps hold no sound, breath holds no sound, existence can disappear at will. That which makes us shinobi is the fact that a majority of their task takes place in the shadows, and Zaizen has refined and perfected the craft of stealth, lurking within the shadows, hiding one's presence, and covering one's tracks. He can even slow his heartbeat to a near halt, decreasing his body need for oxygen, and hiding his very beat within silence.

As one trained within the shadows, and exemplifying the existence of being one, he is arguably the greatest stealth assassin in his Kirigakure holding the title of ANBU Captain and more. If compared to all in the world, he may just be within the tops. It's even been noted that in a battle of sheer silence, not even the trained Kirigakure can match his lack of presence. This coupled with his physical capabilities is why he's regarded as the [Ghost of the Mist]. He kills at such a speed and moves with no evidence of his existence that one never knows they were killed until he's behind them with a blade in their heart. Even while in actual direct combat, if he's not in view, his presence is impossible to detect via sound no matter how skilled.

[Sensory Capabilities & Awareness]

The ability to detect/sense other's presence by their chakra. Zaizen is particularly skilled at sensing other individuals, capable of sensing/tracking a chakra signature over five kilometers. He could also discern between various populations, capable of pinpointing their country of origin. It was this very ability that enabled him to know that his son's killer derived from Konohagakure. Zaizens also has the ability to sense passively for a one kilometer range without the need to concentrate a great deal. It can be used to sense if his natural senses were blocked somehow.
