There was a wooded area nearby the Red Keep, though it was quite scant as the keep itself was near the sea making it a very vulnerable place to try and invade by anybody's standards. But all the higher ranking shinobi were stationed in this forest, with the job to keep silent and as still as possible until the genin would arrive with their orders of what their next steps would be.

It was generally known that they would be invading, but the details were not yet shared with the group.

There were three teams of chunin and special jounin, stationed a little further ahead of their superior officers - the jounin and elite jounin - with the intention of being the eyes for the higher ranking teams in case they needed to act while the genin had not yet arrived. Though acting would most certainly also spell doom for the genin who were rushing to their destination.

Unsurprisingly there were enemy patrols to keep track of with any sense available to the shinobi, though they walked in a very particular pattern so if timed correctly they would never have to come across them. But it still took a great deal of care...

Some shinobi might find themselves perched up in trees, others blending with the environment with all the training they had received. It would just depend, and they would certainly have to since there was also a few watch tower lookouts but a particularly apt one at the top of the Red Keep.

Ultimately though, right now would be a good time to prepare for battle for the waiting shinobi teams, and any that needed to do something to prepare should do it now lest they be caught in the midst of battle without the necessary tools ready for battle.

Remaining elevated, all Ikana really had to do to remain hidden was utilize a brown cloak and rest along the trunk of a tree. Laying against it comfortably. Utilizing some normal camouflage and stealth skills. She used the cloak of invisibility whenever a particularly large group might pass by. However, she hardly felt there was a need. Unless these bandits were particularly well trained at guising people out, even a normal cloak would be enough. Though better safe than sorry. She closed her eyes and listened closely, honing her instincts and preparing herself mentally for battle. Though she hardly felt afraid. It was either do or die, after all.

From the corner of her eye, she'd occasionally count their numbers. Scouting and garnering how many of them there might be. Knowing that with her skills, she easily could have cut down an entire platoon of the fuckers in the blink of an eye. It felt just like another one of her C-Ranks, just on a much larger scale. It was kind of thrilling in a way, watching those poor saps down below. For she knew the true estimate of her abilities, and she felt as if they were but lambs to slaughter. Of course, such fellows could be dangerous if she overestimated, but the young girl had been prepared for quite some time. It'd not been too long since her last kills.

Assuming her team members were anywhere near her, looking in her general direction, she'd do a few signal motions with her hand. As if to point out any bands resting below. Pointing towards her eyes, she then points towards the horizon, as if asking for them to update her on if they'd see anything she might be missing. Otherwise, she patiently remained, accounting for all of her equipment. Mindful of the techniques of which she could employ. What a fucking day.

Shō was determined not to falter; failure was not an option in his mind. Their current plan called for them to await the genin team's first move. Alongside the chuunin team, his role was clear as crystal; hide carefully and prepare for the impending battle. Unless there were any unforeseen circumstances, they would not engage.

When it came to hiding, Shō had little to no issues. His expertise in stealth was undeniable, a skill honed by his Gure heritage, allowing him to seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings. His previous experience as a hunter-nin had further refined his ability to disappear into the shadows. Barring the existence of formidable sensors, Shō believed he would remain undetected.

However, with the aim of conserving chakra and maintaining a broader field of vision, he opted to conceal himself behind the dense foliage of a towering tree. He chose not to employ his clan's unique ninjutsu, which would enable him to merge and move within the ground or tree trunk, since his current goal was not infiltration. Perched silently on a massive branch, Shō exchanged a nod with his teammate and began a meticulous survey of their environment. His focus was divided between the terrains and environments, as well as the areas his teammate might have overlooked.

It was time. Time to take the keep and the missions had been assigned to many shinobi of the village and Kyoko and Daichi were both chosen to join the battle. Yet despite being the Mizukage's bodyguards they weren't assigned to be with him. While Kyoko understood the reason behind this she couldn't help but feel worried if not for Toru for Daichi. Daichi was always near Toru and with his sensory abilities could always find him, but now amid a mission on opposite teams, she doubted he could get a feel for him. Kyoko was worried, to say the least for her brother's mental state, but at the same time she believed in his ability and she wasn't about to fail him either.[break][break]

The team, alongside any Chunin, was to act as backups for the more elite of the shinobi of Kirigakure so for now they were instructed to hold the lines and hide from view. To act like ambush predators waiting for a lost lamb to come into their fray and take care of them. So to say that Kyoko was prepared for any upcoming battles was an understatement. With her full arsenal of weapons at her disposal, hidden under her cloak, she would lie in wait in a tree waiting and watching. Her teammates were in a different tree keeping themselves camouflaged, while Kyoko could have been in the same tree, she felt it was good to keep them away from the same location that way if one was spotted not all of them would be found in the same location. Still like her teammates, she would also camouflage herself with her cloak to keep herself hidden amongst the tree she resided in. Hopefully, if things went well the other teams wouldn't have too much difficulty, but missions like these had a habit of going awry very quickly so Kyoko would keep her guard up as much as possible.

No patrols move in close to the trio that are set just to the left of the Red Keep. A patrol of five arcs close towards the center, but the center is quite a distance away from the three and it is difficult to make anything out.

Aside from the darkness of the Keep nothing else is notable.

They might smell the salt of the sea since they are one of the two mid-ranked groups that can see the sea from their vantage point.

Will they continue their wait in silence or devise a strategy on how their strengths and weaknesses may benefit each other?

Once it was clear that they were well out of earshot, and that the patrols couldn't possibly hear them, what with the closeness to the sea and the waves drowning out any normal conversation? Ikana beckons towards Kyoko's general direction, waving her over, before then looking towards Sho. Assuming they came closer? She'd talk. "I'm specialized to fight at all ranges and can cast jutsu that can hit our enemies on a large scale. Now is the opportunity to prepare as well as set traps accordingly. If you feel the need." Taking a look out to the horizon, looking towards that patrol they vaguely made out. Seemed easy enough. 

"When our orders are received, if you'd so allow. I'd like to initiate our assault. Let me propose two courses of action. First. Formation A." Taking a stick she breaks off from a piece of branch, she proceeds to look upon some lichen moss and draws out a circle. Drawing an X, she points forth. "This is the enemy." Drawing three squares, representing each of them, she places one in front of the X's movement pattern. Two on either side of the X making a pseudo box. "We are the squares."

"I propose opening with a powerful assault. The enemy's attention focused on me. With their shock and attention focused, I'd propose that you two assault them on either flank. Eliminate the stragglers quickly and quietly. Before they can efficiently react." Simple ambushes. Tactics that were as old as time and just as effective. However, she did have another potential insight. Though she'd wait to see if anyone had any objections? If not? Ikana was more than prepared to see this plan through.

"I'm open to hearing you out. Propositions, but if there's no qualms. I can move onto formation B." Ikana proceeds to take a deep breath. Reaching into her pouch, she takes out an explosive tag. "High powered and finely made. This is far more powerful than the average note. We'll plant them on their travel path on the patrol. We can detonate them if our orders state stealth is no longer a necessity. Hit them hard with the blasts. We can all assault them then together as a coordinated unit. Same plan, but conserves my chakra. And it allows for us to strike strongly from a single front as a cohesive unit."

Shō's vigilant observation didn't yield any unusual findings, at least for the moment. He acknowledged the possibility that he might have missed something due to the pressure of the situation and the shroud of darkness that surrounded them. As he leaned against the tree bark, he noticed Ikana's signal from another tree. Responding silently, he carefully leaped over to her location, landing without a sound.

Listening carefully to Ikana's plan, Shō replied in hushed tones, "I specialise in genjutsu, and my ninjutsu requires some setup time." He paused briefly, considering his words, before continuing, "I can adapt to either plan, but I suggest we leave at least one enemy alive for me. If the situation demands it, I can extract valuable intel." Shō was not one to embrace bloodshed unless it was an absolute necessity, but he did not reveal it to his teammates as it would be viewed as a weakness.

He let out a long breath and refocused on their mission, which still remained vague and unclear. Instructions had yet to be issued, and they needed to exercise patience while awaiting further information. However, it wouldn't hurt to prepare in advance and draft a tentative plan that they could adjust as needed in the future. While they were still quietly brainstorming above a tall tree, he wondered if the others were doing well.

The trio as they prepared would be met with an elder from the Shouki clan arriving on the scene - as a council member it was likely that the group knew of him, but perhaps not. Either way, he was definitely someone important enough to give a command and so he did -

"Hello, I am Shouki Kumori's clone here to assist you. The orders have arrived, we must attack the Red Keep now. We must capture it, but not damage it. Any escaping or fleeing enemies must be dealt with, there is a heavily guarded individual to keep an eye out for and he is notably too high of rank to be taken on by yourselves, but to care to slow him down if possible in the scenario that you can identify such an individual. Prevent escape, but beware."

The three would be met with the challenge now of pressing forward as commanded and to take on what was set before them. Directly ahead the path seemed rather clear, aside from the guards that stood at the Red Keep's actual door, though there was a troop of five making arounds near the center and a direct approach would have them be seen. Though the assault was not necessarily meant to be stealthy, the option was there. The two had to decide what to do, and do it to bring glory to their village.

Watching an old man come to them as opposed to some Genin, Ikana frankly didn't know who he was. She wasn't well versed in village politics, and she could frankly care less on who sat on the council. The decisions of the top brass had little standing or bearing on the life of Ikana in her small and menial existence. That said, when confronted and given their orders? That they were to take the keep and with little damage as possible? Ikana nodded her head. "Understood." There was little need for further clarification as she looked to Sho in those moments as well. "Our squad will prepare to move immediately." Taking the initiative, Ikana gazed out towards the Keep. The road, as she opted to travel off the main road as they made their approach via treetop.

It's tall walls, the guards that stood in place, as well as the patrol that continued their rounds. Looking towards the group, she proceeds to formulate a new plan considering their given task. "I'd propose using the Kirigakure no Jutsu. I'll create a thick mist, which will give the rest of you the opportunity to assault the guards by the gate, and that patrol on the road swiftly in one fell swoop. We infiltrate the keep from there and seize the wall, and lock the gate from the inside. To ensure no enemies might leave." Proposition made, she remained relatively silent as she kept her eyes open and sharp. It took but a moment she'd supposed to hear their answers.

Shō sensed the imposing presence and the weighty aura emanating from the man standing behind them even before he turned to face him. The man's colossal stature cast a shadow that loomed over them, so it was impossible to miss it. It turned out that this imposing figure was none other than the village elder, the Dai Shinobi Shouki, Shouki Kumori.

He was a figure known far and wide, both celebrated as a hero and dreaded as a demon within the village. Infamous for his actions during the Kirigakure Civil War, he had unleashed a virulent and bloody poison that seemed to bring a pandemic of death throughout the battlefield, staining both the land and the river red. Shō didn't know much about the man personally, but one thing was certain: he held deep respect for the veteran who had brought an end to the devastating civil war that had robbed so many, including Shō's childhoods.

"Understood." Shō replied, conveying his acknowledgment to the elder without further words. The mission objectives were clear, and now it was time to discuss their approach as a team. "I'm open to any plan, as long as it makes sense." Shō had never been great working as a team to begin with, as he typically undertook solo missions as a hunter-nin. "But given our knowledge of a key enemy figure, it might be prudent to leave one or two guards awake for interrogation." he suggested, but wondered if that would work in their favour.

While his fūinjutsu, Shinjitsu no In could discern falsehoods from truths, it couldn't compel someone to speak honestly. Oh, they were also shouldered the responsibility of preventing any potential escape from the keep. "Sigh, there are so many things to worry about." he muttered to himself quietly. In the end, Shō silently prayed the enemy would cooperate with their demands, so the casualties can be minimised, but he knew all too well that reality rarely aligned with one's desires. Without wasting any more time, he stood well prepared to move forward alongside his fellow teammates. "I'm ready."

She wasn't that far from Ikana's tree so when she was directed to come to her Kyoko didn't budge. Best not to reveal their location just yet in case of enemy spies in the area, but the silence of the area did make it seem like they would be fine to reveal themselves to plan out a strategy. So she would shimmy her way as close as possible while still being away from the group to listen to Ikana's plan. It was sketchy, to say the least. She seemed to be eager to prove herself as she was already planning an assault when they hadn't even received their orders. It was almost as if she was trying to disobey the Mizukage's orders by making this plan. So Kyoko wasn't behind this plan at all though she would keep it in mind just in case they did need to use it.[break][break]

The one thing Kyoko did take from this was their wide range of specialization. From her weapon style fighting to the genjutsu, Sho had to even Ikana's versatility in Ninjutsu. This would mean they could probably adapt to most situations though it would mean they would rely on a single person to get things done. This was a team mission that could go disastrous with a single wrong move so they would need to work together as best as possible. This was something Kyoko struggled with at times as evident in her chunin exams. Sure she passed, but it was only because she took control of her team if they had any sense of pride things would have gone bad for Kyoko. So to say Kyoko wasn't feeling Ikana's rush to prove herself certainly got a little under her skin, but she would collect herself and play along with the child's game so long as it benefited the mission.[break][break]

Speaking of mission it was now time to begin as council member Kumori would appear and give them instructions. They would need to take the keep while making sure not to damage it. This would be a challenge for sure especially since there was someone they also needed to be wary of. Not an impossible task, but certainly could have their difficulties, but Kyoko would nod to give her signal she understood. She kept quiet as much as possible due to the fact she was still camouflaged. Though she wouldn't stay quiet long when Ikana decided she would use the Kirigakure no Jutsu which wouldn't be bad if they were coming from the sea, but coming from a forested area? That was foolish! "Unless you want to attack from the sea that's just going to waste your chakra," Kyoko would say her voice rather low as she covered herself with her hood, a signal she used to show she was ready for combat.[break][break]

Approaching the other two finally, she would add, "At this point, stealth is probably not the best option for us," she would say coldly as she activated her Yamaguchi eyes to get a read on the signatures of those at the keep. If there was someone they needed to pay head to they would certainly have more chakra and vitality much higher than those around them. "Our best bet is to just fully assault them and take them out as quickly as possible," Kyoko would add as she pulled out Nuibari from under her cloak and got it ready. This was to show how serious she was about taking down their adversaries and how willing she was to shed some blood.

The road ahead towards the front gates was free of guards - aside from the guards at the gates - but there were also no treetops to travel by. The bit of trees the group were perched in, were among the last before a large clearing that led up to the Keep. This is what would make the approach quite open and almost totally ensure them being seen unless they decided a quiet approach from the side. But that also meant no easy way to get at the guards by the keep itself.

Once some confirmation was received from the team, the clone would disperse into a cloud disappearing and leaving them to their own devices.

As everyone prepared for the assault they discussed a plan though Kyoko did not agree with Ikana's plan. Though what would occur from summoning a mist could only be tested by summoning the mist...

Kyoko's activation of her dojutsu allowed her to see one kilometer in front, which meant she got a read on all the chakra signatures... And there were a lot of them. An intimidating amount in fact. Five towards the center, patrolling, two around the main gates, guarding. And many many more indoors ready to go. As well as around the shore and dock where the other side of the Red Keep sat on.

However, five enemies stood out with huge chakra signatures.

Four that were perhaps akin to that of a jounin's rank and one that was a beacon, not far from the four. Perhaps this was the individual that was supposedly needing to be looked for in the case of an escape? No other signature stood out but there was the chance of chakra suppression going on in the area as well.

Either way, with well over twenty different chakra signatures in the area not counting the jounin ranked signatures the teams had their work cut out for them. Not to mention, there was almost a total guarantee at this junction that someone here would know of all signature and secret kirigakure techniques.

The choice was still theirs to take, straight ahead in the open or some other way in an attempt to get around?

Ikana wasn't frankly trying to disobey anyone. Frankly, she was looking to strategize the best approach to their mission and threw propositions for a plan. Unless there was the proposition to rush in blindly and hope for the best. Frankly. They didn't even know what the orders were going to be beyond the general idea. Hence, it was best to have a course of action in plan. Frankly. It would have been far wiser in Ikana's mind to simply give the instructions to the Chuunin in the village. Give each of the assigned squads information regarding their specialties and dossiers before they came to the field. It was poorly planned and relied on too many variables and middle men.

Frankly. If she didn't bring up the plans, she wouldn't have known anything about her teammate's jutsu, and they wouldn't know a thing about hers. Ikana found herself moving and listening to Kyoko talk then. "I have more than enough." She said in response. Though, when the Yamaguchi gave response that stealth wouldn't be ideal? Ikana came to look at that blade Nuibari. There was no doubt about it. It was that blade. She found herself skeptical of this course of action. "The Kirigakure no Jutsu isn't to just remain hidden. It obscures their senses and leaves you at the advantage to assault. There's a patrol to deal with, and once we go to face them, the defenders at the gate and wall will see us clearly. Better to obscure their vision than be left clear in sight. No?"

"Whatever we decide. We need to do it swiftly. And plan carefully." Looking to Sho to see his opinion on the matter, Ikana would roll with whatever the majority decided. Kyoko would rather go in swiftly and aggressively, whereas Ikana felt more tact and careful movement and measures would be a more ideal solution.

Shō maintained his silence throughout the team’s conversation, his focus directed towards the surrounding area. It wasn't that he was unwilling to participate in the discussion, but rather, he was more accustomed to working as a lone wolf. In a team setting, decisions required consensus, which was time consuming. However, he understood the true value of teamwork; it opened up a wide range of possibilities and strategies thanks to the unique skill sets of each member.

Reflecting on his past interactions with Ikana, Shō knew she was a jack of all trades. As for their other teammate, it didn't take long for them to learn her abilities. She was a Yamaguchi, a clan renowned for their potent dōjutsu, comparable to the Uchiha and Hyūga. At least, that's what he had gathered from his research. And it seemed her skills extended beyond her dojutsu. "The Seven Swordsmen of the Mist..." Shō muttered as the kunoichi unveiled a large, needle-like longsword from her cloak. There was no mistaking it; Shō had encountered the sword in his studies.

While the kunoichi examined the Red Keep with her crimson eyes, Shō maintained his patience, waiting for her to share her findings. "If your eyes yield any positive results, then perhaps we won't need to resort to interrogation." he responded quietly. Regardless of the team's ultimate decision, Shō anticipated that he would make the entrance with his signature hijutsu, Ikō. He cast one last look at his pouch, checking the "ingredients" inside, knowing it would likely be their final preparation.

One of these five is lighting up very hard in my senses and they could be our target to keep an eye out for so we may need to steer clear of them."
