In the southwestern bad lands of Hi no Kuni lies a small, semi-autonomous town that goes by the name of Kawa. The forested wetlands of Kawa harbor several rivers that make this region which difficult to traverse through. Unique and never-before-seen vegetation, animals, and diseases run rampant in Kawa.

There are several rumors about Kawa pertaining to missing or mangled bodies. Some claim that there is a subset of Kawa are known to be cannibals who fancy feeding on outsiders who are young, sick, or elderly. This adds much to the mystique to the strange town southwestern town.
